Jasper adjusted his black dress robes in the mirror. He looked sharp as usual. Even though he enjoyed playing in the dirt with the horses, he cleaned up extremely well. Yes, the girl he had been set up with would be pleasantly surprised. What girl wouldn't be excited to go out with Jasper James? Slicking his shaggy blond hair back with a comb, Jasper almost looked like one of those old silent muggle film stars. He surveyed himself in the mirror one last time. He finally looked perfect. "Well, almost perfect," he said to the Bloody Baron as the ghost floated into the dorm. Jasper brushed a stray blond hair off his collar. Now, he was perfect. The Bloody Baron harrumphed at his proclamation, and then left through the wall closest to the loo. Ghosts just didn't understand that appearances were important.
It didn't take Jasper long to get to the Great Hall from his dungeon dorm room. He took a piece of paper out of pocket with his date's name written down on it. Her name was Ashanya, and she was a Hufflepuff. He sighed. Why couldn't it be another slytherin, or at least ravenclaw? Thank god it wasn't a gryffindor! That would have been horrible. He could survive a hufflepuff if worse came to worse. He wondered if they would have anything in common. He doubted it. Jasper's grandfather had stressed the importance of associating ones' self with the proper sort. In other words, mudbloods, blood traitors, and half breeds were not friends. They were merely annoyances that had to be tolerated or dealt with. Jasper could only hope that this hufflepuff was at least a pureblood.
Jasper stepped into the Great Hall. He had asked one of his dorm mates if he knew the girl. Luckily, not only did his friend know of her, but he had pointed her out in of their mutual classes. Jasper wondered if this Ashanya knew of him. The young slytherin soon found the brunette girl waiting anxiously near one of the walls. She was pretty, but not overly beautiful. She would do. Walking to her side, he introduced himself as a proper gentleman should. "Ashanya?" He smiled pleasantly. "My name is Jasper. It seems that I am your escort for the evening. How are you?"
