"Rex Carter, you are the most childish boy in the whole year." Trinity's blunt tongue lashed out at her fellow fifth-year Gryffindor as they sat opposite one another at the house table in the Great Hall. "I think you've taken the meaning of 'prank' too far. You need to know when to stop." Trinity ignored the irony in her dry piece of advice. "You're not even half of half of Fred and George Weasley. Not even you and Billy combined would make one whole Weasley twin." Rex attempted to defend himself against Trinity's teasing, but she ignored his efforts and ploughed on. If there was anyone Rex could not charm with his dashing looks and charisma, it was Trinity Bleu. They'd known each other since their first year, and could have been siblings if they were any closer. And yet, they were completely different when you observed them closely: Rex was the outwardly mischievous playboy with a viciously guarded past that hid a darkness within him, and honest and down-to-earth Trinity was uncaring to the general population yet was actually much more open than Rex could ever be.
"Rex, just give up before McGonagall expels you - for good," Trinity concluded with a heavy sigh and a roll of her darkly mascaraed eyes. She of all people could understand the brunt of the Headmistress. After all, she had received hundreds of detentions from her former Head of House in the past for breaking the rules. Yet, Trinity had a grudging respect for Minerva McGonagall. And, despite the fact she never concentrated in class, McGonagall was a decent teacher. McGonagall could also tell that, deep down, Trinity was harmless. She was daring and rebellious, but she was no Rex Carter - he was looking for trouble, whereas Trinity always seemed to find herself there... "I want to graduate with you," Trinity told Rex firmly, reaching for a chicken leg. "So does Harmony Chan, right?" She ignored the look of surprise on Rex's face.
"What, did you think I wouldn't notice?" Trinity smirked. "You underestimate me, Rex Carter. You're an open book to me. No new girl latching onto your arm every week. Less Billy-and-Rex pranks. More whining from Castlerock girl. Practically stalking Harmony Chan." Trinity looked at Rex pointedly, before grinning at his baffled expression. "Whatever. She's good for you, Rex. Keep you under control, that's what. Though I never figured you would go for her type... She must be braver than she makes out to be." Trinity had never really noticed the Hufflepuff girl; she was so quiet and almost insignificant. Not until Rex started pursuing her constantly (and, he thought, secretly) and Billy and Stacey had began acting strangely, had Trinity been pointed out to the quiet, reserved Chinese girl. Then again, Harmony was hard to miss when she was related to the daunting personality that was Ariane Chan, Seventh Year Prefect. Trinity had been caught by said elder several times and she could be merciless. She was especially renowned for her anti-social, hardened persona. Trinity thought her odd, but she respected her for one thing: she didn't give a damn about what her classmates thought about her.
"Bye," Trinity called as Rex made a hasty exit. He evidently wanted to avoid the topic of Harmony; that and he was rather unsubtley following her form from the Great Hall. Trinity smirked to herself. Rex could be so transparent sometimes. She hoped, though, for Rex's sake, that Harmony would 'fix' him. He was a damaged boy, more than anyone seemed to comprehend; more than she herself could understand, she was sure. Trinity was not much for empathy and undersanding. She continued to eat her meal in comfortable silence; she had joined Rex before so it expected he would finish before her. Trinity was at ease with company as well as being left alone to her thoughts, so when someone sat in Rex's seat, she welcomed them with a nod. She noted the dark hair of a younger student, and after a few seconds she kicked up conversation. "Hey kid, what's your name? Third Year? Fourth? I haven't seen you around much. I'm Trinity Bleu, Fifth Year. I don't understand the meaning of 'shyness' and I like being horribly blunt. Nice to meet you."
