A clowd of steam rose from the rather pale lips of the 6th year as Gabrielle walked through the snow. The air was frozen from the harsh wind and her nose was feeling the danger of frost bite. Gabrielle trugged as fast as she could toward the castle. The wind thrashed at her, causing her scarf to unravel just enough to make her shiver and pull her winter cloak as tight about her as was possible. She cursed the snow, the wind, and the cold. There was a hatred she felt for winter that no one else could possible feel. She was a summer girl, no doubt about it. She loved going home and feeling warm all day long. She liked heat and being excited. The cold made her angry and sluggish. The sky was always a depressing gray and it made her wish for sunlight.
With a flip of her shoulder, she restored her scarf to its rightful place on her neck and finally sprinted the last three feet to the castle's front doors. She took hold of the handle with numb fingers and pushed. A flurry of wind rushed past her into the warmth of the castle, pushing her forward a bit. She slammed the big door behind her and felt relief flow over her. The castle was almost too warm and it made her smile. The heat vibrated through her coats and tried to sooth her aching muscles. Next time, the Care of Magical Creatures professor would have to come to her. There was no way she was going out there one more time just to discuss her grade, which could have happened at the next class time. She shook her head and pulled her hat from her head, her blonde hair rose to the sky with the force of static electricity. She ran a hand over her head, calming her crazy "hat hair" and began unbuttoning one of the three coats she was wearing, stomping her feet to rid her boots of snow.
With a deep breath, Gabrielle walked up the stairs, heading toward the library. After her little talk with the professor, she was on thin ice of failing. She needed to pick up some good books on magical creatures to make sure she passed the class. The library was practically empty as she entered and the silence was rather nice. She picked a random shelf and began studying the titles.
"Hmm... where is a good book for Care of Magical Creatures?" She wondered aloud. When she didn't find it right away, she sighed and pulled out her charmed Muggle ipod, jamming the earplugs into her ears and clicking play. The music of Bad Religion blasted through the silence making Gabrielle jump in surprise. She turned the music down and smiled at the librarian, who was glaring furiously her way.
And I want to conquer the world,
Give all the idiots a brand new religion,
Put an end to poverty, uncleanliness and toil,
Promote equality in all my decisions!
She felt her body move with the punk music, her head bobbing a little as she searched for the correct books.
