Since their first time working together, Miguel had made it a habit to request Heidi to be on his cases whenever he could. She seemed to have a knack for diagnostics, and her upbeat spirit kept Miguel motivated even more than what he already was. Working with Heidi had proved to be quite a delight, and Miguel was glad that he had been reunited with her so early into her career at St. Mungo's.
It was Miguel's day off, and aside from that fact, he was happy that he and Heidi had dinner plans for later that evening. When he had asked her, she seemed quite eager to accept his invitation, but given their schedules, it had been a few weeks before they had the same day off and were both available. The days seemed to fly by though, as Miguel began to enjoy more and more spending his time at work with Heidi. In fact, on the days she wasn't there, the hours seemed to go by half as fast as when she was with him. He had been teaching her a lot, and she had accomplished quite a bit for being an intern. Her progress might have even been close to rivaling the work that Miguel did during his first year of interning. Nevertheless, he was happy to teach Heidi and even happier to have her company.
Since Miguel had never been to Heidi's apartment, he couldn't apparate to meet her. Plus, since he walked to work instead of using floo, they had planned to simply meet at the restaurant. Miguel felt somewhat guilty that they'd be arriving separate, but Heidi didn't seem to mind. He offered to walk to her house and meet her there, but she insisted that it was quicker if they just met at the restaurant. Miguel didn't bother to argue with her in the end.
Dressed in one of his best muggle outfits (since they were going to an upscale muggle restaurant in muggle London) Miguel was wearing a dark pair of denim jeans and a black blazer over a blue and white pinstriped shirt. It wasn't too dressy, but nice enough for a fancy restaurant. The place had actually be recommended to him by a fellow healer, and so Miguel decided it would be a good place for he and Heidi to try.
After walking the mile or so from his apartment to the restaurant, Miguel entered but didn't see Heidi anywhere. He approached the seating hostess with a smile. "Good evening. I have a reservation for Taveras, party of two. And, the other person of my party is to meet me here. Has she arrived yet?" The hostess checked her list and then looked up at Miguel with a smile of her own. "Your table is ready, but your date is unfortunately not here yet. When she arrives, you can let us know and we will seat you at your convenience." Miguel nodded and thanked the hostess, walking back outside to wait on the bench that was sitting along the building. He was actually early, so it didn't surprised him that Heidi wasn't there just yet. He figured it was best if he arrived first anyways. He'd hate to keep her waiting.
About five minutes passed, and then Miguel saw the familiar blonde locks coming from across the street. He stood and greeted her with a smile. "I thought perhaps you had stood me up," he teased, opening the door for Heidi and ushering her inside. "You look great," he added as they made their way back to the hostess booth. Soon, they were seated and their waiter brought them each a chilled glass of water and menus to order from. "Are you hungry?" he asked, scanning the menu. "I hear from Ben that you are quite the cook yourself." The first chance he had, Miguel questioned Ben once he found out that he and Heidi were neighbours. Ben was the intern that Heidi described as a bit clumsy. Miguel too wondered why Ben had chosen such a career, but Heidi had sure been right when she said that Ben had a lot of determination. Perhaps he had too much, Miguel thought. Turning back to Heidi, he pointed to one of the beverage selections. "Have you ever had this wine? It's my favourite white wine. What do you say we get a bottle of it then? I mean, that is if you want to drink. I just can't justify going m whole day off without getting at least a decent alcoholic drink," he added with a grin.
