“Hey Chace!” Connor called as he noticed the familiar figure of his big brother turning a corner. Of course Seth was right beside him, but as soon as Connor got around the students in front of him and turned the corner, his big brother was gone. Go figure. Connor usually wasn’t tracking his siblings down at school. They usually came to him. But Connor always found it comforting to talk to Chace even if it was about Chace. Connor found it hard to talk about himself. Actually, he never did that much at all. Everyone always needed something from Connor. Usually it was someone to talk to, but sometimes someone really needed help. And Connor listened and he helped. He had to. Connor wouldn’t turn his back on his family or his friends. He cared too much to let them down. And even though his family could be a pain sometimes, Connor hated to see them unhappy. He hated to see them cry or sad about anything. So he took it upon himself to be the family peacemaker, but usually Connor ended up just feeling alone. It was a difficult thing to explain, but it was just another part of Connor’s life. His complicated Coxen life.
Connor loosened his loose tie as he walked out of Charms class. Still no sight of Chace. Oh well. It wasn’t exactly a secret that Connor looked up to his older brother. Oz was fine, but he was always using Connor as his play toy. His “experiment”. Connor hated it, but he went along with it anyways. What was he supposed to do? Connor scuffed his shoes against the floor a bit before leaving the corridor. It was a rather boring day for Connor. Actually it was a rather boring month. Yes, exams were coming up, but Connor was already prepared for them. He didn’t even want to look at his books anymore. The whole school seemed still aside from pesky students running about pulling pranks and Peeves of course. Connor loved Hogwarts, but he hated when it was dead silent. Especially since Dumbledore left, the school seemed too calm for comfort even if Connor was pretty laid back. Still he hated silence.
Some how Connor found himself in the Courtyard. He didn’t even know why. He rarely ever entered it. If he wanted to be outside he would go to the lake. A lot of the younger year students spent time in the Courtyard which was probably why Connor avoided it. Yes, he was only a third year, but Connor was used to hanging out with older years. After all, most of the time he wanted nothing more than to hang out with Chace. Plus he knew most of Chace, Riley, and Oz’s friends. Connor was friends with many of his fellow third years, but mostly he spoke with older students who usually just wanted to hear about the Coxen family. But Connor would just sit and listen to what they had to say. Above all else, Connor Coxen was a great listener. And while many people valued this trait in Connor, it just made him feel lonely half the time. He couldn’t explain it and it was defiantly complicated. Connor never wished not to be helpful, but he did wish that it would hurt less than it did.
It was then that Connor noticed a girl sitting on a concrete bench by the fountain. He wasn’t sure if she was distraught, thinking, or she was just being herself. It was always hard to tell with people really. She looked a little older, but Connor was up for the company and she looked nice even though Connor found that he could be very wrong with his guesses something. He sighed. Sometimes he was shy, but today he just wanted someone to talk to. Someone to help him fill the dull moments of June. Connor casually walked up to her and took a seat beside her. “Sometimes sitting in silence can be a good thing, but I personally hate it.” He said smiling. He did however have a little bit of a shy moment and looked to the ground, but he forced himself to smile and look back to the pretty girl. “Hi. I’m Connor. Connor Coxen.” It wasn’t likely that the girl would know Connor for simply being Connor, but it was always a possibility for her to know one of his siblings. Connor was never the center of attention and he never would be. But it wasn’t that bad. He was used to be every’s go-two-guy. Even if it hurt him more than anyone understood.
