“Finn.” Ciaran said sternly as Finn ran into the room, shopping bags in hand of course. Ciaran swore that his sister acted like a fifth year. It was if she refused to acknowledge that she had graduated the year before. Finn ignored her brother’s calls of agitation and laid herself across his bed forcing Ciaran to put down his copy of one of his favorite books, Hamlet. “Great news.” She said smiling brightly. “What?” He asked only doing so to make her happy. “Lucy broke up with her boyfriend!” She exclaimed. “Terrific.” He said nodding and then picked his book back up. Finn shook her head and took the book from him. “Finn.” He exclaimed. “Ciaran.” She said mocking the tone of voice that she had just used. Ciaran looked up to his sister. “Okay, Finn. I listened to your piece of information. Now what do you want me to do about it?” He asked not really thinking about his words. A funny expression covered her face and she raised an eye-brow. “No way.” He exclaimed. “Oh come on Ciaran!” Finn called. “You’re adorable and you don’t have a girlfriend. Lucy would be great for you!” Ciaran shook his head doubting it. Lucy was one of Finn’s giggle friends. Ciaran couldn’t tolerate those girls. “Besides, it isn’t like you’re dating anyone. Are you?” She asked quizzically. Ciaran reached for his book. “Bye Finn.” He told her. She sighed and picked up her shopping bags. “Fine.” She grumbled leaving the room.
For a while, Ciaran thought that he had really offended Finn as she hadn’t made any other appearances into her room. However, this thought was dismissed when Finn burst in after an hour or so of silence. Ciaran was about half-way through the book, but he had read Hamlet before. “What now?” He said raising an eye-brow looking at her. “It’s that Kia girl isn’t it?” She asked walking over to him. Ciaran instantly assumed that she had promised Lucy that Ciaran would date her. That would be a very Finn like thing to do. “No, well, Finn, I..” Ciaran murmured. Finally, he shook his head and stood up to face her. “Finn. You know that is none of your business.” He told her. Finn just rolled her eyes. “C’mon Ciaran. That girl is a spit-fire or so I’ve heard.” Ciaran was getting angry now. “You heard Hogwarts gossip Finn. You know as in not real?” Finn rolled her eyes again. “She just lost her father Ciaran. That girl has to be a wreck.” “I don’t care.” He said defensively. Ciaran sighed. “C’mon Ciaran. You’re getting older. You don’t need a girl like her!” She said wanting Ciaran so badly to be with Lucy. “You can’t tell me what I need Finn! And maybe you’re right. Maybe I don’t need Kia, but I want her and I don’t want Lucy.” He said fleeing the room and grabbing his jacket on the way out.
Ciaran had never blown up to Finn like that, but she had never had him any reason to until now. Finn had always pushed Cia to date Lucy or another one of her friends, but why was she pushing it so much now? Ciaran didn’t understand his sister’s actions. Ciaran walked away from his house needing to get far away form Finn as fast as possible. Finn knew what she wanted and if she really wanted for Ciaran to date Lucy, she would do anything to get her way. Ciaran walked into the Leaky Cauldron not long after he had left his house. Apparently, his determination to get away from home, was making him walk as fast as possible. He took a seat at an empty table not taking the time to look at anyone around him. Never before had Finn been so determined about something as weird as Ciaran dating Lucy. Obviously, she had ulterior motive. Yea, that was probably right. Ciaran ordered a butterbeer and sat down at the table staring at the ceiling, wondering what Finn was up to.
