Scoute was sitting in the library by her self reading a book and trying not to beat her self fro not having friends, to laugh and have fun with. Scoute watched as a group from her friends were laughing and telling jokes, of course trying to be quite about it, Scoute would give anything to have that. Scoute has always been the kind of girl who was quite and alway spoke her mind when she needed to. Scoute hasn't changed that much either, but she wished that she could at least have friends to hang out with on the weekends when she didn't have to do school work. Scoute hated sitting in her corridor and reading all by herself. Scoute wanted to at least be able to talk with soemone, anyone she didn't care who it was as long as they were real. Scoute had imaginary friends before but she didn't think that wascool anymore. Scoute also had her horse, Dorothy, to talk to when ever she was at home, so she never really got a head start on the whole making friends thing. Scoute had became more and more shy around people when she was trying to make friends because she had waitedso long to try and be friends with someone. Scoute always failed miserably. Scoute wanted to once, just once in her life have some one who liked her. Scoute even dreamed of having a guy like her, but she knew that she had to work towards that and she couldn't get everything at once. Scoute decided to just work towards getting somefriends instead of the whole bucket full. Her father used to use that expresion a lot and some how it got hooked in her mind. Scoute was aware of the fact that she was getting to be more and more like her father everyday.
Scoute was reading her book on charms. Scoute loved charms, she didn't really know why but she just loved charms. Sometimes Scoute seemed like she was being a little nerdy but she knew she wasn't a nerd or a geek so she was fine with liking charms as much as she did. Scoute was just to the part where it was talking about Collucos which is a charm she was learning in her charms class, when she saw a girl across from her on the other side of the library. Scoute could tell she wasn't a Hufflepuff, but she wondered what house she was from. Scoute saw her laughing with a couple of her friends and wished she was a part of it. Scoute was now yelling at her self for being jelous at other people, Scout always told her self to love what she has instead of want something else, because she knew she would end up forgetting what she had. Scoute was a little weird like that, she would tell her self one thing and then catch herself doing another. Scoute always caught her self before anyone else did. Scoute decided to get up and go over and be friendly, but she started to think the what ifs'. She didn't want to go over there and start talking to them and have them end up walking away and look at her like she was crazy. That happened to her a lot. Scoute thought that, these girls are different then the ones' back home! Scoute grabbed her book that she was deeply interested in and marked her spot. Scoute then put the book in her book bag got out of the chair. Scoute was walking over to the other girls and she was only half way to the table when she decided to smile. Scoute put on her famous Southern Welcome smile. Her smile always seemed to make people welcome when ever they were invited or whatever. Scoute was very proud of her smile.
Scoute finally reached the other table after being pushed around by a groud hurring to the back of the library. Scoute didn't really know why they liked to go to the back of the library, she thought the back was the same as the front so it shouldn't matter where you were. Scoute didn't want to wait for them to leave before she could introduce her self so she sat her books down and cleared her throught, softly. Scoute decided, that she would try telling the truth, and hope for a good result out of at least one of them. " Hi, my names' Scoute Maycomb. I'm a third year and frankly i don't really have much of any friends 'round here and i thought that i would introduce myself." Scoute smiled again being polite and bracing herself for the worse, of what could happen. The worse thing that could happen is that they laugh at her southern talk and walk away. Scoute was strong enough and was to the piont were that didn't hurt her anymore.
