Aurora checked her watch, tapped it with a finger and stood, waving her wand and sending her pieces of parchment folding neatly into her trunk under her bed. She flicked her wand again and another wad of paper sailed from her bedside table, clipped together neatly. She grabbed them, pocketed her wand and exited her dormitory, heading to the Common Room. Aurora noticed Harmony sat with a group of friends by the fireplace and approached her with a smile. “Hey, you know the meeting starts in fifteen minutes, right?” She pointed to the clock on the wall, and Harmony nodded her understanding. “Just reminding you.” Aurora explained wryly, before waving her goodbye and leaving. She walked briskly past several corridors, manoeuvring her way around some tricky moving staircases to reach her destination on a different floor. The Room of Requirements was difficult to locate, and Aurora was worried that the BBBS members would have trouble finding the meeting point; however, there weren’t many people in Hogwarts who didn’t know about it, and those who didn’t know how to find it could follow or ask someone. Aurora crossed her fingers for all members to turn up, hoping that the beginning of the scheme would be a success. It would be demoralising for her team if BBBS were a flop after all the hard work they had put into it.
Finally reaching the right storey, Aurora looked around the empty corridor, supposedly the one she had been walking along when she had first found the Room of Requirements. It had been a while back, when she had seen Carson McGreggor, a fifth year Hufflepuff, run out of the room hurriedly, leaving Aurora to explore what lay beyond the never-before-seen door. There she had seen Angel Sheridan, a Ravenclaw fellow sixth year, ice skating on a makeshift rink, and since it was Angel who had come up with the BBBS scheme, she and Aurora had decided it was a good place for the first meeting for all members to take place. The room was shaped for your specific needs; it couldn’t be more perfect. Aurora looked around, until a door appeared in the wall, and assuming it was the right one, she entered. What met her eyes made her laugh out loud as the door swung shut behind her; a fireplace burned bright in the corner of the large, expansive room, which was filled with plush and colourful cushions and a couple of small tables and chairs. Nodding her approval, Aurora approached the nearest round table and placed her things down. The plan was to take a register of all arrived members to see if any were absent. Sitting down, Aurora wondered when the other committee members would arrive. They had scheduled it so that they would come about fifteen minutes before the start of the meeting, bringing their lists of members with them.
Aurora remembered with sadness that, in fact, the committee team had changed since the beginning. Originally it had consisted of herself, Angel, Jamison Parson the Ravenclaw head boy, Celia, another Ravenclaw in her year, and Kia Brightstar, a fifth year Gryff. However, since then the line-up had changed, what with Angel leaving Hogwarts for a different life, leaving Carson in her place. Aurora was glad to see another Huffle on the team, but sad to see Angel go, but they had to live with the decision, and Aurora wished her friend the best of luck with her future. With Angel’s departure, Jamison had been named as the head of BBBS instead, with Celia as Secretary (all those papers and filing, Aurora thought!). Kia, Carson and Aurora had other jobs to get to anyway, kept busy by other things such as NEWTs for Aurora, which were so far going well this year. She was enjoying Charms and Transfiguration in particular, even though it was harder. Muggle Studies and Arithmancy were the same as ever, really. On the work note, Aurora remembered she had an Arithmancy test coming up in the following week, and she really needed to revise for it. Groaning inwardly, Aurora rubbed her eyes worriedly, before sifting through her papers on the table. She was sure Angel had briefed poor Carson on the BBBS plans already, so she needn’t check up on that, but she felt it necessary to see to him anyway, in case he felt a little thrown in at the deep end. Aurora wondered back to if the members would be late, when the door creaked open, alerting her to someone’s presence.
((BBBS members please get in contact with your brother/sister, organise a thread here in Hogwarts in the Room of Requirements, start a thread and sign up to the correct committee member IC so we know you’re here.
