The Perfect Pet ((Esmeralda))

"You're making this difficult." Wendi said smiling as she walked through Diagon Alley with Carr draped across her shoulders. He only laughed. "Oh, c'mon Parson, you've always been a tough one." Wendi smiled and shook her head. "Says who?" She asked raising an eyebrow and looking back at Carr for a second. "Umm, me and Jami, your grandparents, and Emory." He said finally walking to her side and holding her hand. "Emory?" Wendi asked surprised. Carr nodded. "He hasn't been talking to Keith has he?" Wendi joked laughing. Carr felt like choking. That's exactly who Emory had been talking to. But, could Carr tell Wendi this? Should he? It would probably just make things harder for her. Plus, Carr and Wendi had been doing so well lately. They hadn't really discussed it out loud since the train ride, but they were basically like a full fledged couple only neither of them would admit it. Wendi smiled liking the way that Carr's hand felt on her's. "So, Emory still hasn't budged? Hasn't told you why he's back for the summer. I mean, he's never really come home before has he?" She asked curiously. Carr shook his head. "Not since he started school. It's weird. He has no interest in this family what so ever, so why bother us now?" Carr thought out loud. Carr had a few ideas of why his brother was back. But, he hoped with all his might that none of them had to do with Wendi.

"So, what exactly are we getting here anyways?" Wendi asked eying Carr. "Well, like forever ago I promised Nick, Tazz, and Diem that I'd get them their own pets since they seem old enough. So, that's what we're here for." He said nodding. "We're here to pick out the triplets new pets?" She asked surprised. "But, don't they want to do that themselves?" She asked. "C'mon Wendi. You've been around them long enough. They love anything I pick out and since you're here and they love you too, that will make their gift extra special." Wendi smiled and nodded. "Okay, fair enough. So, any ideas as what to get each of them?" She asked casually. Carr shook his head. "No idea." Wendi laughed and flicked his nose lightly. "Umm, let's start with Nick. Think." She said simply. Carr nodded. "Umm, I dunno, a cat?" Wendi laughed. "Wow, Carr you are really bad at this." She said smiling. "I know, I know. So I was thinking, you pick out the pets, I'll come back and get them when your done and pay, and bring you ice-scream." Wendi nodded. "You drive a hard bargain McDuff, but you know my love of ice-scream. So you have yourself a deal." They shook hands, and then Wendi headed to a nearby pet shop.

In her mind, Wendi knew exactly what pet to get for each triplet. It was just the matter of getting them each the perfect pet. Tazz was smart, pretty much a shoe in for Ravenclaw, Wendi thought. She liked simplicity, but pretty things as well. Wendi laughed. So, a kitten would be perfect for her. Nick, he was athletic yet not crazy like Carr. Wendi could see him as a Huffle like herself and she couldn't imagine getting him another pet besides a toad. Now, Diem was the tough one. She was just like Carr except Wendi could see her in Gryffindor. A tough one she was. Wendi smiled, a Puffskein seemed perfect for the girl. Wendi nodded, thinking to herself as she headed over to look at kittens first. People were walking around her, but Wendi didn't really notice. She was too focused on finding the perfect pets for the triplets.

"Nena!" Ezzie called out. There was no answer.

"Nena!" Ezzie called again. There was no answer. Ezzie had looked all around the shelter, and she still couldn't find her cat.
She called her cat's name once more, and this time, she heard a faint meow coming from the small dirty window. The window showed a view of the small alley that separated the Jesus Loves Us Homeless Shelter and Nick's Deli. From the window, she saw her cat laying behind a garbage can. There was a small group of little kittens laying in front of her. Ezzie squeezed through the window and knelt in front of her cat to pet her. She purred softly. Ezzie looked admiringly at the kittens. She counted them. There were nine of them. Nine! There was no way Ezzie could afford all those cats. Plus, she needed the money the kittens would give her if they were sold. Thankfully, Ezzie knew exactly the place to sell them to.

About three weeks later, Ezzie found herself in one of the pet shops in Diagon Alley with her cat in her hands. She was staring at the kittens admiringly and she took one of them out to play. She held it carefully in her hands, but it fussed and fidgeted until it jumped out of her arms and landed right at the feet of a girl who was walking around.

Wendi strolled around the store trying to find the perfect pets for each of the triplets. Wendi knew the three very well. They would also want her to name the pets, Wendi was sure of this. She sighed walking around the various cages of animals. This was more difficult than she thought it was going to be. Then again, the triplets had never been easy kids. Nope, they were all so different and they had always wanted to be treated that way. Wendi strolled around looking at the toads in a cage. She sighed. A toad was a toad, right? How could she find the right one for Nick? Wendi still couldn’t decide when the store manager approached her. “Can I help you?” The old witch asked in a sly tone. Wendi sighed. “Umm, I’m getting three pets so theses kids, I know which kind of pet to get each of them, I just don’t know which one in particular.” She said looking to the cage of toads that all looked the same to her. The lady sighed looking to the cage that Wendi was concentrating on. “You need a toad, eh?” She asked. Wendi nodded. “Good pets they are sort of old fashion though.” She continued eyeing Wendi. “I know, but Nick will just love it. I know him.” She said nodding. The manager nodded in response. “We have large purple ones over here.” The lady said pointing to a cage. “Ohh..” Wendi said approaching it.

Wendi eventually picked out a toad for Nick. The manager placed the toad in a box and put it behind the counter. “So, do you have a name for that fellow?” The witch asked. Wendi thought about it thinking to Nick and what kind of name he would want for his pet. Something simple, something, Nick. Wendi smiled. “Hoops.” She said smiling. Not a name that Wendi would name one of her animals, but for Nick, it fit perfect. The lady nodding looking back to Wendi. Wendi then walked over to the cage full of Puffskeins. They all basically looked the same. They were all custard colored. After a moment, Wendi picked out one and handed it to the manager who put it in a box and set it beside the box with Hoops in it. “That ones name is..” She thought about Diem for a moment. “Sky.” She said smiling. The lady nodded. Finally Wendi made her way over to a carton of kittens. One girl was standing by the kittens and picked one up, who then jump out of her hands and to Wendi’s feet. Wendi smiled picking the thing up. “Are you okay, kitty?” She asked holding the baby in her arms. Wendi then looked to the girl. “Wow, she’s cute.” Wendi said smiling to the kitty. “Did you just bring them in?” She asked the girl.

Ezzie ran after the little kitten but was too late. Thankfully, the girl didn't seem too annoyed, she actually smiled and picked it up.

“Are you okay, kitty?” She asked holding the baby in her arms. The girl then turned to look at Ezzie. “Wow, she’s cute.” She said, smiling to the kitty. “Did you just bring them in?” She asked the girl.

"I sold them here about three weeks ago." Ezzie said. "They're all really cute, and I love them to pieces. I'm sure you will too, if you want her, that is. That's the bravest little kitten I've ever seen in my life. One day, when she was still with me, she tried out the whole 'cats always land on their feet' theory by jumping out the window." Ezzie giggled. "It was pure luck that an old matress happened to be just below it in an alleyway. I would watch out for that one." Ezzie smiled, as she looked at the kitten in the other girl's arms. She was better off there.

"Im Esmeralda by the way. But I'm better known as Ezzie. Do you go to Hogwarts?"
