Arywiel strode out of the portrait hole and walked along the abandoned corridor. She could hear Jake's footsteps close behind her. "This way!" She half-whispered to him. Ary beckoned him to hurry after her. She rounded a corner keeping close to the wall. The castle was dark and the torches in brackets had further intervals in the short corridor. Arywiel paused. "Footsteps!" She panicked, so she bounded through a door to her left. She snapped the door shut and peeked through the keyhole. A figure swept past the door making the hinges shake a little. Ary caught her breath a turned around. They were standing at the top of a little staircase. "Let's try." She murmured, taking the steps two at a time. There was a tapestry hanging in front of a doorway at the foot of the stairs, so Ary shifted the heavy fabric a little and peered out...

Jake followed the girl out of the common room and into the corridor. Jake tiptoed when they left the portal and past the fat lady, and then followed right behind Arywiel. While he followed behind her she whispered "Footsteps!" and ran into a door to the left. Jake followed her and made it into the room just before she shut the door. She looked through the key hole and he waited till she finally came up basically letting him know that the person had past, for now. When she said 'Let's try" Jake nodded and followed her up the stairs going a little slower to keep from making too much noise. When she made it to the top Jake saw her look through and looked around. When Jake finally made it to the top he whispered to her "Do you see anything?" and tried to look through it himself.
