"It's just not happening," Kael looked at his quill in utter disgust, tempted to mimic his sister and just launch the quill at the wall. On the other hand, he added grimly, Lynne had been throwing a freshly sharpened quill at a thin sheet of plastic masquerading as a door whereas his quill was looking rather bedraggled and pathetic since he'd had it for longer than he could care to remember and the walls he was eyeing were most certainly made of stone. No, it just wouldn't have the same effect. The ink-pot would make a resounding crash and the shards of glass would make an interesting addition but he just didn't have the right temperament for hurling things at walls. You had to be easily annoyed with a destructive temper, somewhat like his twin, to pull off throwing something at a wall. He on the other hand, calm and rational Kael - well, it would just look odd. It was like a division of talent for Lynne to have the temper, he supposed. He was the writer and Lynne had inherited his share of the artistic temperament. Then again...setting his parchment on fire was looking more and more appealing as the minutes ticked by and his quill stayed stationary, just as it had for the last hour.
The problem wasn't with homework. No, he had finished all that and set it aside to begin work on something that had been slowly brewing in his mind ever since halfway through the summer. If things had gone according to plan then it would've been the best story he had written to date because it meant something more than a pastime and a hobby, albeit one that he was passionate about. This story had a dedication and he was determined to get every word right. He'd even bargained with Vic, through Lynne of course, so that she would bind it together for him rather than it being stapled together. His pride was the driving force behind his determination but that wasn't the only reason. Gia and Adrina meant something and Kael wouldn't mess it up, not when he had precious few friends. There was a connection between him and Adrina, something that he couldn't really put words to. It wasn't like the twin-bond he felt with Lynnette, although they could understand each other equally as well as he and Lynne understood each other. Which was interesting since he and his twin had been together for sixteen years but he'd only spent a few hours with Adrina. Gia, well that baby had charms and Kael had fallen prey to them, simple as that. The present was mostly for Gia, but since Adrina would be the one reading it to her until she was old enough to read it for herself, it was for Adrina as well. Well, it would be if he could think up words to match his sentiments.
But at least he was in the library. The peace and quiet of the library was soothing and he was just grateful to get an hour or two alone, without Lynnette bothering him for one reason or another. His sister, actually enter the library when she didn't have to? Well, no, that was mean. She did come into the library sometimes to study. Or to bother him. Yeah, just to bother him actually. He didn't have many friends to bother him either so there was no chance of them coming to annoy him either. But there was always something or someone there to annoy him. Namely Pluto. Almost like he had heard his name in Kaels thoughts, the kitten yawned delicately before curling up tighter on the seat next to Kaels, letting out a quiet meow that seemed amplified by the quietness. Kael cringed and hunched his shoulders, fully expecting to be reprimanded by Madam Pince for daring to bring an animal into the library when he heard footsteps that seemed to be headed straight for him. Oh, she'd have a shock if she'd seen the two ten minutes ago though, with Pluto stretched across the parchment and Kael teasing him with a quill. He still hoped it wasn't her though, even if the situation was improved since then. "Quiet," Kael hissed softly, pushing the chair closer to the table, rendering Pluto invisible to prying eyes.
