CJ and Lonnie arrived in Diagon Alley shortly after noon, they had a long list of supplies to get. Not only were they after CJ's but they had to get Valeria's as well. They spent almost two hours trying to get Valeria to come as well, but she wanted to stay home with the housekeeper, so they finally agreed, and went alone. It was kinda of boy's day out, and a girl's day in. CJ and Lonnie only bothered taking CJ's list and remembered they had to get two of everything on there.
The first store they stopped in was Madame Malkin's Robe shoppe. How would they get two sets of new robes? Well CJ's was easy, Valeria's was slightly harder, but they had measured every inch of her before they left. Madame Malkin was not used to making robes this way, but once Lonnie explained the problem to her, she was quite ready to help them out. They thanked her as they paid for their purchases and apologized for any inconvenience and again made their way out to get every things else they needed.
Their next stop was in the Quality Quidditch supply store. CJ knew his chances of getting on his houses team were slim to none, but he still liked to look. The father and son duo spent 20 minutes looking around the store before heading to their next destination, Flourish & Blotts. Once inside they read over the list at least twice, to make sure they were getting everything they needed. Two of everything was a hard find. But they were having a good day. Then they started looking at the other books in the store. They were going to pick up a few books for Valeria, she loved to read.

What was so fun about the summer anyway? She was bored already and her halfborthers and sisters were driving her nuts. Stacey walked around the aisles of Flourish and Blotts, looking at the assortment of books and letting her imagination wander as to their contents, a pastime she often engaged in. But right now it wasn’t really exciting. What she needed was someone she could get a reaction out of, someone she could talk to and perhaps annoy. She never intentionally set out to annoy people, or at least she would never admit that to herself – in her head she called it something not quite so harmful – experimenting. She was simply finding out how people reacted to certain things and having her fun in the process – a girl had to have her fun. And people eventually understood it was in that spirit that she behaved the way that she did, no harm meant. And if they didn’t, well that wasn’t her problem. Her eyes fell on a boy younger than herself; he couldn’t be older than a second year she decided. Stacey waited till she found that he was on his own and she had watched him a bit before approaching him. She patted him on the shoulder and then looked at him for a moment, pausing for dramatic effect. “I thought you know that you either lost things really quickly and didn’t want to get in trouble or just had too much money and no better idea of how to spend it. Then I thought you were one of those people in my house who go around buying extra books because there’s are usually worn by the end of the year and they can’t study from them. And then I realised,” Stacey clapped her hands together, her face a lit with delight of a scientist who had just proved that his theory was correct practically, “you’re a twin! But your brother or sister isn’t here. Does she always make you get her stuff? Would you say you were the quiet loyal one that had to put up with her all the time? Do you have this great burden on your shoulders that you’ve never shared with anyone or do you feel this huge resentment inside you? Being a twin is a real pain I guess. Or do you really like your sister and have this connection with her like no other connection? Come on David, you can tell me,” said Stacey. She shifted from one foot to another, feeling incredibly restless.

CJ was holding a history book looking over the back of it, trying to decide whether his sister would enjoy it or not. He was turning around to ask his father if Valeria would like the book or not, he noticed that he was gone. Just as he turned back to the shelf, he felt a tap on the shoulder, hoping to see his father standing there, he was now facing a girl, and one that was older then him he would guess. He looked slightly taken aback by some of what the girl was saying. Did Val always make him get her stuff? No, he was willing to do that, he cared deeply for his sister. Him quiet and loyal? Shoot, he was far from quiet, even though he was completely loyal to his sister, and those that didn't know of Val's problem, didn't understand why. Did he have a great burden, on that he resented? No, he loved his sister, always had and always will. Well it was time to set this girl straighter.
"First off, my name isn't David, it's Cristopher, but most call me CJ." He took a deep breath in before continuing, his stature was held tall. "Yes, I do have a twin, and no, I don't hate that fact. I love my sister to death, she just hates going places. " Before the girl had the chance to ask him why he continued. "She has a problem that makes her really shy, and hate being around a lot of people. Without me Valeria wouldn't even attend Hogwarts." He was completely right on that, and he knew it. Valeria was everything to him. "And as to having a connection, yes in a way I guess we do." CJ was not being upfront about his sister being deaf, but he didn't like a lot of people to know it, it just made things worse for her.

Stacey’s eyes widened and an expression of absolute surprise appeared on her face. “You so look like a David! I mean with your small eyes, rotund face and yes, even your eyebrows are David eyebrows,” she said, the disbelief in her voice just as much as that in her voice. “CJ? Why do you like that? I mean, DJ, well that I would understand, musical and spicy and cool, I’m sure you’ll agree. Still, I don’t get why people would like to get called by initials. I mean, nicknames, sure, like I’m Stacey, saying Anastasia is too much of a mouthful, like for instance if your name was Joshua, I’d call you Josh, too much time wasted calling for you. Oh well. To each his own I guess,” she said with a shrug.
Stacey looked at CJ for a while before continuing, though it was quite evident from the look in her eyes that she had not stopped talking so he could, she was simply giving him the chance to fully concentrate on the look of dramatic reproach she was giving him. Stacey wagged a finger at Christopher, something she made her grandmother do a lot when she was talking to Stacey. “And you say you love her? You should help her come out of her shell. You don’t get anywhere in this world by being shy. Especially if you’re a girl, David. I mean CJ. I mean sure it’s cool that you got your sister to attend school, way to go on that one, though I don’t why anyone wouldn’t want to come to school. Sure beats sitting at home. I mean yeah after three at Hogwarts things become a bit boring and its all just same old, same old, but still, you got to get an education or pretend to want to get one at least. And I mean don’t you want your sister with you if you love her so much? For companionship and stuff? I don’t get along with my half-sisters and brothers but I understand the whole sibling bonding thing,” she said. She was still bored. She didn’t feel like pulling a prank or anything in here though. Not worth the trouble and she always had to come here every year anyway so she didn’t want to get into their bad books.

CJ continued to look at Stacey, almost like she was crazy. Who in the heck was David? CJ had never heard on a person by the name of David. CJ rolled his eyes a little bit and let Stacey talk on, he really didn't care what people called him. Then his sister came back into the whole thing. He narrowed his eyes at Stacey, waiting for her to finish.
"I don't force my sister to do anything she doesn't want to! She is special, just because everyone takes their senses for granted, there are still people that have to live with out them!"
He let her take that thought in for a moment before he started again.
"You think I'm being soft on my sister? Valeria is not the kind of person you can boss around whenever you want. She has her own feelings and her own thoughts, just because she can't hear you doesn't mean she has to be ignored!"
CJ gave Stacey one more look and then did an about face and walked away from Stacey and the book he thought about getting for Val. He didn't even think to look back and he found his hand, grabbed his cloak and the two headed for the entrance of the store. Lonnie was trying to get CJ to tell him what was wrong but CJ refused to tell inside the store.
