“Lumos.” Ed said pointing his wand in front of him as the beam of light burst from the tip. He frowned as he looked at the unfamiliar surroundings. Ed’s bum stung slightly and he angled the light upwards to reveal the opening of the shoot he had fallen through not a few moments before. “Ow…” He stated as he began to rub the bruised section. He had been walking back from the student lounge, back toward the Ravenclaw Common Room, when a weird looking brick had stuck out of the wall. Ever curious Ed had moved to investigate. After a few minutes had had shrugged and pushed the brick back, that was when the hole opened at his feet and Ed had fallen.
His ride had been bumpy and confusing as it twisted and turned in many directions. His screaming ride had ended in minutes and he had been dumped into this empty corridor, many layers bellow the castle. Edgar sighed as he spun around in a circle a couple of times, trying to decide in which direction he should go. Ed shrugged and tossed his wand spinning into the air. The wand landed, its tip pointing into the direction he had first been staring at. One way was as good as another to Ed and he picked up the wand and began to travel down the corridor. The place was dark and empty, there wasn’t even any burned out torches left on the walls. This corridor had been abandoned many, many years ago.
Ed couldn’t tell in which direction he was going, or even what part of the castle he was under thanks to his twisting ride. He did know that he was below the castle though, so his first priority was to find a way up. Ed was never good at sensing any subtle inclinations, so this tunnel was perfect level to him, although unknown to him it was actually moving up in a very subtle incline. Ed walked for nearly an hour before he decided to rest for a bit. Moving over to the wall he leaned his back into it. As soon as his backed touched the wall Ed knew something was wrong, the section of wall slid back slightly under his pressure. Ed leapt away, expecting some kind of trapped door only to realize that it was some kind of switch.
A sudden rumbling could be heard and felt under his feet and he glanced back the way he had come. Ed felt the blood drain from his face as a giant wall of water came rushing at him. “Oh bother….” He muttered and turned to run. He managed one step before being swept away by the current. It was pure chaos, water surrounded him and spun him around and around. Ed couldn’t tell which way was up or down, he was merely going along for the ride. With one tremendous push the ride stopped, only Ed was still surrounded by water, but no longer being swept along. Ed collected his wits around him, now that the spinning stopped he could clearly feel gravity’s slight pull on him.
Ed paddled and kicked as he began to swim upward toward what he hoped was the surface and air. His lungs screamed for air and he was about to swallow a mouth full of water when his head broke the surface and he gasped in breaths of air. It took Ed some time to find his bearings, he was in the lake now. How on earth had he ended up here? Ed paddled and swam to the shore and collapsed on the solid ground. He laughed a little, dripping wet, his bag still on his shoulders, its contents drenched, but he was alive and that’s all that mattered.
