Olivia stared out the window of her dorm room. She was dying to get out of here. She knew her friend Kate was throwing a party in London tomorrow night, but Olivia wasn’t sure if she was going to go. Kate was the only muggle who knew of Olivia’s secret, and she thought it was quite cool that Olivia could do magic. She sighed. Wasn’t there anything to do around here? And then an idea came to her. She walked upstairs into the sixth year girl’s dorms. Olivia’s two good friends were sitting on Faith’s bed talking. She jumped onto the bed. “Hey, I’m dying of boredom here. I’ve got an idea.” Her friends looked up and eyed Olivia. “My muggle friend Kate is throwing a party in London tomorrow night and she wants me to come. Want to come with? We could take a carriage into Hogsmeade tomorrow morning, get ready at Faith’s place, then take the Floo over to London. We’ll take the carriage back Sunday afternoon and be back before anyone misses us.” She said in her usual casual tone.
It had taken some persuading, but finally Olivia had gotten everyone to agree to coming to the party. There would be some Ravenclaws going, and Olivia was perfectly fine with that. But what Olivia wasn't so happy about was Ruby Lehane's attendance. Faith was also a good friend of Ruby's, but to be honest, Olivia didn't like her at all. She had nothing but pure hate for her brother, and Ruby was exactly the same in both looks and personality. She didn't even know why she would want to attend a muggle party anyway if she hated them so much. But the Ravenclaws would be no problem. Olivia’s sister Elle was a Ravenclaw, and she couldn’t have been more proud of her little sister. Olivia balanced an un-lit cigarette between her teeth as she buttoned her cloak to leave Hogwarts. She jumped into the carriage with Faith, Juliet, and regrettably Ruby and looked out the window as her friends talked. She wasn’t in the mood for talking much, so she simply lit her cigarette and waited for them to arrive to Faith’s large beautiful home in Hogsmeade. Finally, the carriage skidded to a halt right in the center of Hogsmeade. The four walked together to Faith’s home. “I’ll be in my room getting ready.” She said calmly. Door will be open to anyone who dares enter Olivia’s lair.” She said in an amused but sarcastic voice. She headed up to her room, stealing one last glare at Ruby Lehane. Faith was one of her good friends, but sometimes she wondered why she liked Ruby so much. But that wasn't any of Olivia's concern.
Olivia was sometimes considered the baby of the group, and was sometimes separated from certain activities because she was a year younger than her friends. But she didn’t mind much. She still had a very close relationship with most of her friends. Olivia searched through her closet of muggle clothes. No, that sweater was too thick, that shirt was too big, those jeans weren’t right for the occasion. Olivia looked through her closet once more. Eventually, she had decided on a short strapless red shirt and a denim skirt with fishnet stockings and her favorite boots. Her blonde hair was straightened (yes, she had died it back to it's usual platinum blonde) and her lips were painted with bright red lipstick. She grabbed her little black purse (which had been stocked with everything from cigarettes to eyeliner) and walked downstairs where everyone was waiting.
“So, is everyone ready?” She said looking around. No one objected, so Olivia grabbed her bag full of Floo powder and took a handful. She walked into the fireplace and spoke the words “Kate Gibson’s home in London” and in seconds, she was sent swirling off into the Floo network. Because Olivia was underage, she could not apparate just yet. So she had resorted to the Floo network. She was so used to the flashes of different fireplaces and the sensation that Floo travel provided. Spotting the fireplace in Kate’s living room, she exited the odd green vortex and smiled as she saw her old friend Kate standing in front of the fireplace. The party would be held in the basement, as her parties all were. “Hey Kate. I brought some friends along, I hope you don’t mind.” Kate smiled her acceptance and Olivia waited for her friends to arrive to the party. She removed another cigarette from her purse and lit it. Kate normally didn’t mind when Olivia smoked in her house. Her parents owned some major corporation and were always traveling. According to Kate, her parents wouldn’t be back until the end of next February.

The idea, when Olivia had suggested, hadn’t sounded that bad of an idea. Faith had been relaxed, idly giggling with Juliet and simply being in a good mood. Had Olivia planned that in some way? Because if Faith hadn’t been in such a good mood then she surely wouldn’t have let herself be talked into going to the party. It was being thrown by a muggle! Oh, Faith didn’t hate them; she didn’t think they deserved enough energy for her to hate them. But she certainly didn’t like them in any way and she even pitied them. Poor muggles, not quite advanced enough to achieve the same living standard that witches and wizards had. Maybe one day, if they were lucky. Maybe if they wished upon a star, like naïve young children. Still, the younger girl had put up a good argument and Faith had yielded gracefully. Not, of course, that she hadn’t planned her revenge carefully and discreetly. It was amazing, the extent to which her friends overlooked her Slytherin qualities or at least Faith thought so. She was the most subdued of the group, probably, and so gazes seemed to just skim right over her. That was fine by her though. Her violin and her piano were the only tools she needed to express herself. Words could be interpreted in far too many different ways for Faith to trust them with her emotions or plots. The music carried them far more clearly. Her revenge had been simple but satisfyingly accurate. Invite Ruby to the party – not a great problem because Faith did enjoy Ruby’s company equally as much as any of her friends – and watch Olivia fume silently all night. The dislike between the two younger Slytherins was amusing to watch but Faith still found herself glad that her other fifth year friend, Adriahna, had never sunk quite so low as to squabble so pettily. “Yeah, because we’re really so worried about walking into your room, Olivia,” Faith raised an eyebrow sarcastically. “Especially when I own the house and could kick you out at any time. You don’t even pay rent, you little pest.” With that said, Faith stalked into her own bedroom, closing the door behind her silently. Usually, she’d let Juliet drag her into her room and pick out her clothes but her annoyance was too close to the surface tonight and she didn’t want to snap at her friend. Besides, did she really want to dress up for some muggle boy who she’d never see again? No. Faith rolled her eyes, changing into a pair of jeans and a dark green shirt. She had no patience for these sort of things sometimes, which was why she had also invited Adriahna along. Juliet and Olivia would definitely abandon her in favour of dancing so if Ruby did the same then at least she’d have company. Faith zipped up her boots and nodded as Olivia questioned whether they were ready. “Let’s go and get back,” she remarked dryly, stepping into the floo and repeating the address. The floo could be quite entertaining – when it wasn’t being sickening. She nearly stumbled as she stepped out of the fireplace but steadied herself with the ease that came from years of travelling in such a way. Well, flooing was quicker than flying even if it wasn’t such a scenic route. “Did the other girls step out of the wrong grate or something?” Faith asked impatiently, her gaze darting around the room in search of Adriahna, her best hope of escape. Maybe they could just go back to the house and have their own private party? The fireplace blazed green once more and her hopes shattered as her friends arrived. No, she was stuck here. Maybe it would look a better option after a drink or five then. ((*pokes Juliet, Ruby, Celia and Adriahna* I know you didn't forget about this thread, right? ))

How in the world had Ruby managed to get herself in such a mess? Cool icy blue orbs moved around the carriage…pausing for a few seconds on Olivia Dawson. A twinge of annoyance entered her at the sight of the girl smoking. Ruby didn’t understand why the girl was so obsessed with those dumb death sticks, or so her mother had liked to call them when Ruby was a little girl. Not only that, but Ruby knew the girl quite well from being in the same year and her brother’s own annoyance with her. Muggle-lover. Traitor to her own blood Ruby thought to herself as she finally took her eyes from her and glanced out at the snow covered world. Why was she going to this muggle party? Why had she decided to even let Faith convince her, which of course seemed to be just a ploy to annoy Olivia? Ruby had to laugh at that though. If it had been Faith’s way of getting back at Olivia then the girl had potential…a lot. Then again Faith was Ruby’s friend one of the only ones that seemed to be good enough. However, the thought was sort of egotistical of her, but when had she not been egotistical.
Blue orbs rolled around her eyes at Olivia’s comment. Ruby kept her annoyance inside though as she too left the carriage heading into Faith’s house. It was quite the place and Ruby was more than honored that Faith had chose to share it with her. She stepped into her own room at the place digits immediately wrapping into her school robes and pulling them off. Why am I going? I’m going to have to scrub myself clean after the filth she muttered to herself as she pulled out a black halter top, a green snake was airbrushed onto the front of the shirt. Long digits brushed through the blonde strands as blue orbs stared back at her in the mirror she stood before. Deciding the look wasn’t too horrendous for a muggle part she grabbed up the dark blue, hip hugger jeans, sliding them over her thin frame. A small gap of flesh was seen between the bottom of her shirt and the top of her jeans. She smirked at the look. Normally she wouldn’t dare where something so revealing, but after all she had to look good.
Ruby hated muggles…there was no doubt about that. So you would think she would have disagreed right off the bat when invited to this muggle party, but no. Ruby had her own reasons…her own intentions. How does one get rid of muggles if one doesn’t know anything about how they live? she smirked at the thought. It was the very reason why she’d decided to take Muggle Studies. She was well aware of what it meant to other Slytherins and muggle haters, but they would soon understand why she did it. Ruby brushed her fingers through her hair once more before pulling a jean jacket over the shirt. Blue orbs checked the mirror once more before she nodded, the smirk still playing across her lips as she exited the room and moved to the fireplace where the other girls had managed to collect.
Before long it was her turn to head through the fireplace and she did so quickly, hating the soot that coated her clothes after the trip. Dusting herself off quickly she turned her eyes up to the muggles before her, eyes moving to Faith, where Ruby quickly moved. There was no way she was getting close to the muggles. She was there to observe, not to integrate. There was no telling if there were any dangerous ones in there are not. Though Ruby thought they all were dangerous. After what her mother went through…was still going through there was no sense of dealing with any muggle. Who knew if they were carrying around another knife like the last one had. A hand subconsciously went to her mother’s ring that lay against her collarbone.
Ruby leaned back against the wall behind her, arms crossing over her chest, while icy blue orbs moved from muggle to muggle. “Why on earth did you invite me to this?” Ruby asked her eyes turning on Faith. “Better yet why did you decide to come?” It was a mystery in itself and one that Ruby didn’t really want to keep quiet. She was more than intrigued by the fact that Faith asked her to tag along, even if it was out of pure revenge for Olivia. Olivia…Ruby’s eyes turned back to find the girl who seemed more than happy to be with her muggle friends. It was a disgrace to the pureblood world. What Slytherin…what pureblood would want to hang out with such filth? Then again Olivia had never been normal and she had never been a very good Slytherin. What was it with Slytherins anymore? All of them seemed to be mudblood lovers and muggle lovers. It was just disgusting and Ruby would have had no other pleasure than torture them all for their idiocy, but that couldn’t happen now…but soon…the time would come when she was able to do such things. It would just have to wait.

Of course Juliet was the first to agree to go to the party when Olivia asked. Juliet had never been one to turn up a party. She didn’t even care what type of party it was or who was throwing it. Besides, it wasn’t like Juliet would ever see one of those boys again. But actually, Juliet had been good as of late. She actually found a boy that captured her attention. She didn’t know exactly how long this would last but she didn’t care. For once, Juliet was happy and that was all she really cared about. She wasn’t going to flirt with one of these muggle goys. Well, unless they were cute, but hopefully they were ugly. Julie smiled to Olivia. True, Juliet got along with Faith more than any of the girls, but Olivia was cool as well. Juliet actually got along nicely with most of her Slytherin friends. She did tend to turn her nose up at the Ravenclaws. She couldn’t help it really. Juliet laughed when Faith asked Olivia to invite Ruby. Oh yea this would be interesting. It wasn’t exactly a secret that Ruby hated muggles. True, Juliet wasn’t fond of them, but she would put up with them when she had to. If they didn’t bother her, she wouldn’t bother them. That was the way it was. Juliet smiled. Goodie a party. And there would be no ice to hit her head on at this one.
Juliet laughed her usual laugh at Faith’s comment as she walked to her room. “Yea, if anyone can even get inside!” She joked before closing her door. So, maybe Olivia wasn’t messy, but none of them really were. Juliet shook her head lightly and eyes the mint green walls. She loved this room even if she didn’t spend much time in it. Well, she did on some weekends and some holidays, but that was about it. Juliet eyed her closet and instantly pulled out at outfit. She decided against one of her adorable dresses. She didn’t need to dress up for this really. She instead pulled out her tight leather pants that actually looked classy for some weird reason. She then grabbed a dark green top with a black jeweled necklace and pulled on her boots. She nodded. This was enough to make those stupid little boys swoon and therefore make the night interesting. It was fun to see their silly little faces drooling over her and her tight clothes. She liked knowing that they would never have her. That was simply how Juliet was.
Juliet met the others at the fireplace. She still had a month before she was of age. Hopefully the days would go by quickly. Juliet felt like she was counting the seconds. She grabbed a handful of powder after Ruby and walked into the party. She shook her head slightly. So maybe it wasn’t what she was used to, but she could deal. Usually, Juliet only attended functions with her family or really upscale parties held by fellow Slytherins. She had never been to a muggle party before nor did she ever think that she would. Juliet eyed the clock. Right now, she could be hanging out in the common room with Jack. Wow he really was changing her, wasn’t he? A month before, Juliet would never have thought such a thing. But now she did. She couldn’t help it. She didn’t know why she was attracted to Jack Reid, but she was. Juliet looked around for a moment before finding Faith and Ruby.
She shook her head slightly. It was sort of obvious that for once Juliet was a fish out of water at this party. Yes, Juliet was a party girl, but never before had she wanted to party with muggles. Juliet sighed. “So, what exactly is one supposed to do at a muggle party?” Okay so she knew that it couldn’t be much different from one of her normal parties, but it sort of was. She sighed. Juliet sighed and tried to figure out if there was any alcohol anywhere. That always made Juliet feel better. Juliet eyed Olivia. “Tell me that there is more to drink here thank coke.” She said in a fake mocking sort of way. Juliet and Olivia related a good deal. They both liked parties and that sort of thing. But they couldn’t relate on this. Nope, Juliet’s parties were the opposite of this. For one, Juliet felt out of place. She rolled her eyes at the some-what cute boy that was looking her way. She eyed Juliet. Hopefully, the night would get better as it continued.

Her friends amused her, oh so much. The rivalry between Olivia and Ruby was entertaining – Faith wouldn’t have asked Ruby to come with them if she didn’t find it amusing, no matter how much she had wanted to seek revenge for her own decision. It had been slightly cruel to inflict the muggle party on Ruby simply for petty revenge but the younger girl had agreed willingly – something that had raised Faith’s suspicions since she knew that Ruby hated muggles - no blackmail or coercion involved, which had settled what was left of Faith’s uneasy conscience. She was, despite her quirks, a true Slytherin and had been even before Hogwarts and the decision of the sorting hat. She did what needed to be done, no matter what the consequences for others were. She’d sacrifice her family before moving onto her friends though and with good reason, based upon their treatment of her. At the very least, her friends had never betrayed her.
She felt rather plain when placed next to her friends, as she always did. Oh, she knew that if she dressed up and put on a short skirt and a tight top then she’d get just as much attention as they did. But what was the point? Faith wasn’t the type of girl who enjoyed being in the spotlight, she didn’t like people staring at her and she didn’t particularly enjoy boys flirting with her when they didn’t even know her. It was pointless and degrading. Faith would put up with being dragged to clubs and parties, she’d even smile and try to enjoy herself, but she wouldn’t indulge in the meaningless flirting that Juliet seemed to take pleasure in.
What would she be doing if she hadn’t been dragged to this party, Faith wondered before rolling her eyes. Stupid question, with an obvious answer. She would actually be having fun, playing around with compositions and symphonies to make them sound different. Okay, so maybe it wasn’t Juliet’s or Olivia’s or even Ruby’s idea of fun but that was fine. They were friends, yes, but they were different people. She didn’t force them to play the violin or the piano or even the guitar, so why did she have to play dress-up and go to clubs with them?
“What do you mean?” Faith raised an eyebrow with feigned innocence, the slight smirk at the corner of her mouth giving her away. “Couldn’t I have just thought that you would enjoy this party and therefore have invited you to join us in such a lovely venture? On the other hand,” Faith admitted, her tone light and conversational, “I could be after a slight spot of revenge for myself being here. I think we all know that you and Olivia don’t exactly get along so that could be my motive. I’d like to know when your brother became involved in this little feud actually, but that’s not the point right now. Maybe later, hmm?” Juliet joined them and her smirk disappeared as she acknowledged her friend with a slight nod before returning to the conversation with Ruby, offering one last comment. “However, you should consider that I also invited Adriahna and Celia before making your judgement on my plans for this evening.”
Juliet’s question earned a roll of her blue eyes. “Don’t ask stupid questions, idiot. I imagine that it’ll be similar to one of your usual parties. If Olivia hadn’t disappeared for the moment then we could ask her, I suppose. We drink, dance, flirt and get drunk. Well, you do. I’m still waiting for the opportune moment to escape. Besides, the idea of flirting with muggle boys is hardly appealing to me.” The comment about drinks made Faith grin slightly. She had a pretty good idea of what kind of drink Juliet was eager to get her hands on, especially considering that she shared the want for an alcoholic drink. Anything to wipe out the knowledge that she was at a muggle party with no probable means of escape. Even being dragged to a club was better than this, leading Faith to promise that she would never complain about Juliet dragging her to a party in Hogsmeade ever again. At least for a week, she wouldn’t complain.

Olivia laughed a bit. She was enjoying herself already, but she could tell most her friends weren’t just yet. Faith would be hard to crack, but after a few drinks, even she could be fun at parties. But Olivia would never do that to Faith. Olivia walked back over to the small cluster of witches, who looked dangerously out of place compared to all the muggles that were lurking about. She laughed, grabbing a drink for herself. She overheard a conversation between Faith and Ruby Lehane. Olivia knew that was the only reason the Lehane girl was invited. Faith wanted to get back at Olivia for getting her to come to the party. She just wanted to see Olivia and Ruby put up with each other the whole night. Olivia stifled a laugh. So Faith really did belong in Slytherin. Olivia was beginning to wonder whether Faith should have just been sorted into Ravenclaw instead. She was so wrapped up in that music of hers, it was scary. Olivia just didn’t see the fun in sitting in a room locked up all day tiring your arms out on a hunk of wood with strings tied to it. But Olivia wasn’t judgmental like her mother was. If playing her violin made Faith happy, then that was that. Some people often thought Olivia should have been a Gryffindor. Sure, she liked to have fun and was pretty daring, but Olivia knew that despite her views on the ‘pure way of life’, she was a Slytherin at heart. She was determined and often very sneaky and judging by everyone here, she was pretty persuasive. But apparently, Faith had some tricks up her sleeve as well.
“Ah, so I had a feeling there were some ulterior motives to you inviting Ruby. I must say though, you could have just said no, and we’d be avoiding this little situation here.” She said, nodding her head over to Ruby, who Olivia was basically just giving the cold shoulder. Ruby Lehane was like a mini Laura Dawson. Just looking at the girl brought memories of her mother’s evil ways back into her mind. And her brother wasn’t exactly very tolerable to say the least. “And what’s this about her brother being involved?” Olivia said with narrowed eyes at Faith.
“No one mentioned anything about Wynd Lehane, so I would really like to know where that little comment came from.” Olivia said angrily. She didn’t know why she was so touchy on the subject of the Lehane boy, but she just was. She hated the guy’s guts, and that was the end of the story. Lately, many people have been questioning her about Wynd and Olivia. She didn’t know why. They may have been in the same year and house as him, and yes of course Wynd was a boy and Olivia was a girl, but there was absolutely nothing else to it. They’d shared a train compartment once and a carriage to Hogsmeade another time. And yes, they had been forced together at one of their parent’s functions, but that was it. She sighed heavily, draining the last of her drink. She walked over to Juliet, glad to change the subject.
“Don’t worry, Juliet. Just pretend every guy here is a wizard and has a wand in their pocket. Just make sure you don’t tell him about where you go to school or anything about the wizarding world. Then it should be exactly like a party in Hogsmeade, only there’s no place to bump you’re head here.” Olivia teased. She pointed upwards to the ceiling. “See? High ceilings and no ice. You should do just fine. Now, I see one hot boy over there checking you out, so why aren’t you over there yet?”

Post by Celia Richmond on Mar 19, 2008 21:59:15 GMT
Celia was tired. She still needed to get back into the swing of school life after the few weeks at home over Christmas. She'd done the work she needed to early on, and then spent the rest of the holiday relatively relaxed. Unlike at school, the pile of work wasn't just reappearing every day, it just decreased, and she had no prefect duties or even any other duties to take care of while she was at home. Well, apart from looking after Amy and household jobs, but they weren't in the same league really. And then there were the obligatory late nights that simply didn't exist at home, with no astronomy lessons or patrolling. Now they were back at school, the pile of work was once again building up, she had all the duties back, and a lot of late nights. She knew that she'd soon get used to it again, but that always took a good few weeks, and she hadn't quite settled back in yet, but she didn't think that would take long...she was just in that limbo stage between regaining the love and wonder she had for Hogwarts that came each term, and the actually settling in...those couple of weeks or so when school life is harsh as it doesn't seem so wonderful anymore, yet you still need to get used to school life. Hence why she was so tired.
And it didn't help that she'd been invited to a party for that night. Normally she wouldn't've accepted, but then normally she'd have prefect duties or astronomy as an excuse, but tonight she had nothing. She couldn't make up false excuses either-she didn't have the mentality to be able to lie, and she was sure that Faith, an acquaintance of hers that was in Slytherin, would be able to find out anyway, one way or another. And besides, although she was tired and could probably do with some sleep rather than a party that evening, she thought that it could probably be rather fun. She had no idea who the host was, apart from a friend of Olivia Dawson (a 5th year Slyth), who had invited Faith who had hance invited Celia along with fellow Ravenclaw Adriahna, and Slyths Juliet and Ruby. None of which she knew too well, but at least she wouldn't be completely surrounded with Slyths, as she would have Adriahna. She knew the younger girl well enough to have a decent conversation with her, as they were both on the quidditch team, but she was still wary that she'd end up feeling like an oddball.
She sighed as she thought about what would happen. Doubtless there'd be alcohol and smoking, and plenty of them, at the party, both of which Celia disapproved of. There was no way she'd go anywhere near a cigarette if at all possible, and as for alcohol, well, she didn't mind having a bit but there was also no way she'd get herself drunk, unlike some of the people she knew who were going who apparently couldn't even have fun without any alcohol in their systems. She probably would end up having a rubbish time and regret going, but there was no harm in trying. If necessary she guessed it would be possible to escape early on-well, she hoped so anyway. And then there was the issue of what to wear. She knew it would be casual, but she knew she was hardly "cool" unlike the other people going. Most likely she'd be the laughing stock, the one in the corner alone having a rubbish time that everyone laughed at. But she didn't care too much about what people thought of her unless it had serious consequences. If they kept their thoughts to themselves and didn't resort to immaturity or even bullying she was fine with it. But the more she tried to fit in, the better she'd make the situation for herself, she thought.
She sat on her bed and wondered what to do...she finally decided to wear her black jeans-they were good for all occasions. Depending on the top and accessories, they could be made to look casual, smart, friendly or even somewhat intimidating. The top took more time to choose, but she ended up with just a basic plain black rather tight-fitting top. She decided to leave her hair down and rather messy, and poked her pair of dangly black earrings through her ears. She regarded herself in the mirror, and although she was wearing what was just about her coolest outfit, she still didn't feel too confident. But there was nothing more she could do as the only real thing letting her down was her confidence, so she just made her way down to where she was going to meet the others, bracing herself for the worst, telling herself that it wouldn't be as bad as she feared and that she could escape if needed.
She met the others, and immediately sensed tension in the group, between Ruby and Olivia. They obviously didn't get on very well, and Celia only hoped that wouldn't cause too many problems. Either they'd ignore each other all night or they'd be at each other's throats by the looks of things. Faith seemed to be rather pleased with herself for stirring the whole thing, being a mutual friend of the younger Slyths, and it seemed as if she couldn't stop herself looking smug. Well, although Celia was 17, she still felt more comfortable with the floo network than with apparition. Probably because apparition could go so wrong and she really didn't want to end up leaving any body parts behind. So she took a handful of powder, and threw it into the fireplace, and whizzed off to the party. She immediately saw some of the Slytherin girls that had gone before her, but she hadn't seen Adriahna, and hoped she'd turn up soon. She didn't recognise any of the muggles there, and decided to make her way over to the drink and try to socialise...surely there'd be someone there she couldn relate to and talk to?
