Ezzie woke early, as usual. It was about five o'clock in the morning, and Ezzie was sitting up in her bed, yawning and thinking about the day ahead. She was so used to this by now. Her body had become used to waking up so early and going to bed so late. She had been doing this for three summers straight. For the past three years, Ezzie had been working at a fancy hotel to pay for her Hogwarts bills, food, and other things she needed to keep her off the streets. She had recently quit her job though, it wasn't safe to work at the hotel anymore. Ever since the beginning of August, Ezzie had come to live with her boyfriend, Ethan and his family. Mr. and Mrs. Jacobs were kind people, but they ran their household much differently than Ezzie was accustomed to. The Jacobs family were often described as the richest and most famous family in both the wizarding world, and the muggle world. They made millions of galleons a day, and that was on a slow day. They were constantly wasting products Ezzie would have killed for in the shelter. They had imported everything, and most of their meals cost more than Ezzie made in her entire lifetime. Mrs. Jacobs had a closet that was bigger than three of the biggest rooms at the shelter, and Mr. Jacobs' office looked more like two master bedrooms combined. They had very elegant taste, but also fought to keep their house looking trendy. Ezzie had occupied the first of five guest rooms and the first time she saw it, she almost fainted. The room was as large as the entire shelter, and probably even the bookstore and the deli on either side. Ezzie's room looked more like an apartment, and the silk curtains and blankets of Egyptian Cotton, Ezzie felt like a princess. Most of these fine accessories probably cost more than Ezzie's life was worth.
She had become slightly more used to living with the Jacobs, but some things still surprised her. She remembered the first time she opened her closet. She placed the things inside and and looked at it once more. Her clothes took up the smallest fraction of the closet, it was almost scary. She left the closet open, in case she found more clothes, and began sweeping her room. No sooner did Mrs. Jacobs arrive to stare in astonishment at Ezzie's closet. She exclaimed that Ezzie seriously needed more clothes. Ezzie refused, but the next day, Mrs. Jacobs returned from work with six large bags stuffed with clothing. Her closet was now filled with all the latest fashions and trends.
Ezzie removed a simple red t-shirt and her favorite pair of ripped up jeans and removed her towel from the hook. Her room even had its own master bathroom, complete with four sinks, an over sized bathtub, and a shower that could clean the entire family at once, if needed. The bathroom was however, was shared with Ethan's parents, who occupied the room next door. They wouldn't be awake for work for another half hour, so Ezzie figured it was okay to take a quick shower. She didn't want to hog the bathroom for so long, otherwise, she would make the Jacobs late for work. She removed her clothes and stepped into the over sized shower. She rubbed shampoo into her hair while she sang the lyrics to her favorite song, Teardrops on My Guitar, by Taylor Swift. She didn't realize how loud she was singing, when someone knocked on the door. She shut off the shower and wrapped a towel around her slim and soaked body. She opened the door just a crack to see who was knocking.

Amanda Jacobs woke with a start as her wand rapped her on the head. Was it time to give it a rest and go to sleep already? Amanda looked around. She grabbed hold of her annoying wand and sighed. She was still at her desk, sitting in front of a half finished design she was working on for the Weird Sisters concert the following night. They were amazing singers, but they were very demanding. She sighed as she looked down at her slim diamond studded watch. 5:45 a.m. She had to be at work in fifteen minutes. Amanda glanced at her design and sighed once more. There was no way she was going to finish this at work today. She simply had to stay home today. She owed her son that much. She had always felt guilty about leaving Ethan and Ezzie alone so much. Ezzie wasn't even her daughter and she felt even more guilty for leaving her. Ezzie was her responsibility now. Amanda wouldn't admit it, but she really loved having a daughter again. Even if that daughter wasn't really hers. She missed Jessie more and more each day, but having Ezzie around eased the pain a bit.
She got up from her chair, still in her silk bathrobe. Her husband was at the bookstore already, as he left at around five thirty. She looked longingly at the large soft bed in the middle of the room. She couldn't fall victim to sleepiness, she just had to finish her design. Then she could sleep. She approached her warm fuzzy bath towel and stopped dead. The towel was just outside the bathroom, which was shared with Ezzie. She stood frozen by the door, mesmerized by the beautiful sound emitting from it.
"He's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar..." Was she listening to a CD? It couldn't be, Ezzie didn't own a radio. Amanda didn't realize Ezzie could sing so beautifully.
"The only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star..." She had so much raw talent, too much in fact to be wasted on the ears of only the bathroom shower. She knocked on the door, only to find Ezzie standing there soaking wet and wrapped in a towel. There was no radio in sight.
"Ezzie, was that you singing in there? All by yourself?" Amanda asked, and waited for Ezzie to tell her it was just a radio. Surprisingly, she didn't.

Ezzie felt bad. She hadn't realized she had occupied the shower for so long. Now Mrs. Jacobs was going to be late for work and it was all her fault. Ezzie made a mental note to iron all her clothes while she was gone. It would make up for making her late. It was weird though, because Mrs. Jacobs wasn't there to ask her to get out. She had asked about her singing. Ezzie felt another pang of guilt. She had woken Mrs. Jacobs up before it was time. She needed her rest and Ezzie deprived her of it. She felt guilty a lot these days, like she had always done something wrong, even though she was doing her best. Mr. and Mrs. Jacobs had given her a warm bed to sleep in and heaping plates of food every night. They protected her from her almost kidnapper and provided her with a way to quit her horrible job. In return, Ezzie did everything she could for the family. She acted like a second house elf sometimes. Cleaning other people's rooms, cooking and baking, helping revise and edit Mr. Jacobs' novels, and other household chores. It was like living and working in the hotel, except here, people actually payed attention to her, showed her love, care, and respect. They even allowed her break. Her boss had been so cruel to Ezzie sometimes. He had her working hard six days a week, for more hours than any human being could handle, with no breaks in between. She barely had time to eat. Before the Jacobs family, she only really ate one meal a day. She did everything she could to please the family, but sometimes she did slip up like this. Ezzie frowned.
"It was me, I'm so sorry if I woke you up, Mrs. Jacobs." She hung her head low, and Mrs. Jacobs smiled.
"It's fine, I was already awake anyway. Besides, how many times have I asked you to call me Amanda? You make me feel so old! I'm not forty yet, you know!" Ezzie giggled. It was so funny how Amanda could ever think someone would think she's old. With her straight blond hair, clear blue eyes, and such a slim toned figure, Ezzie thought she couldn't be a day older than seventeen.
"I'm sorry Amanda. Do you need to use the bathroom? I can finish my shower later, if you like. I'd hate for you to be late because of me." Ezzie started to walk toward the other door, into her bedroom, but Amanda stopped her.
"It's fine, Ezzie. I'm staying home today. You can finish your shower, but when you get out, let me know. I want to take you somewhere." Ezzie sighed. Amanda was always trying to get Ezzie out to get her nails done or to shop with her. Ezzie always agreed, but she wished Amanda would stop asking. It wasn't fair for her to spend so much money on her, when she wasn't even her daughter.
"Amanda, I really appreciate it, but I don't need any more clothes. I've got plenty." At this, Amanda gave her a warm smile and a little laugh.
"Oh, don't worry Ezzie. We're not going shopping. I want to take you to meet someone." With that, she walked away, taking her towel with her. She was probably going to use one of the guest bathrooms to take her shower. Ezzie wondered where Amanda was going to take her, but she wanted to get the shampoo out of her hair. She stepped back into the shower and wondered while she washed out all the soap. Could she be going to meet s fashion consultant, to buy more clothes? Could she be meeting another one of Ethan's family members? She shrugged, giving up all hope of figuring out where she was going. She turned off the shower and stepped out to dry herself. She turned around, and instead of seeing the plain red t-shirt she had picked out, she noticed a nice navy blue pair of jeans that fit comfortably and hugged her every curve. There was a pretty white v-neck blouse that seemed to be made of silk, accompanied by black heels. She put them on, wondering if maybe she was going to a business meeting with Amanda. Was she trying to get her a job? Ezzie also noticed a pair of pearl earring studs and a beautiful hairbrush. She went to pick it up, but it floated out of her hands, brushing her hair for her. The brush worked it's magic, and soon, Ezzie's hair was fashioned in two French braids. Then, make-up started flying at her. A small make-up brush seemed to attack her cheeks, leaving her with wonderfully blushed cheeks. An eyeliner pencil expertly applied itself onto Ezzie's eyes. A mascara brush was working on her lashes, and a bottle of clear lip gloss was spread as if by an invisible hand, and in no time, Ezzie looked like a professional, but yet trendy business woman. She stepped out into her room and Mrs. Jacobs gasped with delight. Ethan was standing next to her in his velvet black wizard's robes. He let out a long whistle.
"I knew those clothes would be perfect for you!" Mrs. Jacobs exclaimed, meanwhile Ezzie looked thoroughly confused.
"What's going on?" She said with a confused stare.

Mrs. Jacobs just smiled and Ethan shrugged. She knew he knew what was going on. Ezzie wondered where they were going. She raised her eyebrow at the two and waited for someone to explain. She didn't like the look on their faces, even though they were happy. Their grins had a sort of look about them. Ethan came over to put his arm around her, but Ezzie moved out of the way.
"Guys, what's going on?" Ethan just smiled. Mrs. Jacobs smiled too. "We're going down to my office. I told you, I want you to meet a co-worker of mine. She'll be very interested to meet you. Come, grab my hand. Ethan will follow us by floo, he knows where to go. Ezzie eyed Mrs. Jacobs suspiciously but folowed her orders. In the blink of an eye, Ezzie was in a large spacious office along side Mrs. Jacobs. A second later, Ethan appeared in the fireplace. The chair at the desk spun around and a woman looked at her with a smile. She was very young, and had dark hair and intense blue eyes. She looked a lot like the female version of Ethan.
"Amanda, how nice to see you! This must be Ezzie." The woman hugged Amanda and looked at Ezzie again.
"Ezzie, this is Juia, my sister in law. She's the head of Alohamora record company. She's here to talk about your future in singing." Ezzie looked from The woman to Ethan to Mrs. Jacobs and back again.
"Future? In singing?" She managed to sputter.
"Yes, Amanda's told me so much about your voice. She says you've got true talent. You're here so I can see for myself. I want you to sing a few verses of your favorite song, and from there we'll go on." The woman named Julia smiled and handed her a glass of cold water and a microphone. She took a deep breath, and started to sing. The first song that came to her head was a Spanish song that her mother used to sing to her when she was a baby. Nobody in there would be able to understand it, but it was a good song.
Ezzie finished the song and wiped a small tear from her eye. She noticed Julia standing there and she started to applaud.
"I see what you mean, Amanda. She's got a beautiful voice. She can go places." Julia smiled at Ezzie.
"That song was really beautiful. I didn't need to understand a word of it to know it meant a lot to you." She turned to the three of them and sighed.
"Well, I think she should get an agent and publicist and all that jazz. After she's got all that set up., give me a call. I'll be in Capri until November. We can start writing the songs around next month and start recording them soon after. Ezzie, guess what?" Julia didn't wait for a response. "You're going to be famous." She smiled, and with a loud crack, she was gone.
Ezzie's mouth hung open. She could barely breathe, let alone talk. "fa...fam...famous?" Ezzie sputtered.
"Yup," Ethan said proudly. "I'm dating a rockstar. Sweet!" Ezzie laughed and Amanda rolled her eyes.
"Let's go home." She said. "We have to celebrate."
