Wendi carried her things into the house with solemn look on her face. She was back. After everything that had happened, she as back. Wendi looked around the house as she closed the door behind her, but she didn’t hear a thing, not a peep. Wendi sighed dropping her bags at the door. “Jami!” She called. No response. Wendi made her way over to the stairs. “Jami!” Again no answer. Wendi sighed wishing that her big brother was around to levitate her bags up stars. Alas, she would have to do it the muggle way. Wendi lifted the bags and started to make her way up to her room. She sighed all the way eyeing the moving photographs as she walked. It took Wendi a minute or two to make her way to the tippy top step, but finally she had made it. Wendi then walked across the hall to her lavender colored room. She rolled her eyes at all of the lavender things about the place. What had she been thinking? Lavender and yellow? Wendi decided that she would redo her room just as she threw her bags onto her bed. She then laid on the empty space. When had things come to this? Why had everything changed? Wendi didn’t have the answers, but she wished that she did. She then rolled over on the bed and shut her eyes. It was near darkness. Wendi wondered where Jamison was off to. She wasn’t too worried though. She closed her eyes needing to get some rest. She would have a lot of explaining to do.
“Wendi?” A voice asked through the darkness. Suddenly, light entered Wendi’s eyes and she was forced to open them. She wiped her vision back. “Jami?” She asked turning to face the figure. He nodded. “Yea. What are you doing here?” He asked. Wendi sat up still half-asleep. “Why are you in so late?” She asked being Wendi as she was. He sighed, “I was in Hogsmeade.” He explained. “Right..” She smiled sarcastically. “Wendi.” He said sternly wanting to know why she was back early from the McDuff mansion. “Me and Carr broke up.” She said sighing. “What?” Jamison asked surprised taking a seat next to her on the bed. “Yea..” She went on. “What?” Jamison said still shocked. “You said that you weren’t dating Carr..” He said sternly. Wendi sighed. “I wasn’t when you asked, but then I was and now I’m not..” She said. “Why?” Jamison asked. She sighed. “It’s complicated..” She said knowing that she would have to explain herself. “Wendi..” Jamison went on. “Okay, okay. I’ll explain.” She sighed again not wanting to tell the story, but sucking up her pride.
“Emory was working for Keith..” Wendi told him. Jamison looked shook for a moment. “Carr’s brother?” He asked. Wendi nodded. “So does that mean..” Jamison looked confused. “No, no. Carr wasn’t working for Keith. Carr and Emory didn’t talk much really. It was just Emory.” She told him. Jamison nodded. “So, what happened after you found this out.” Wendi sighed thinking back to a few days before. “Well, Emory left when I told him that Keith was just using him. I told him that Keith would use him to get close to me and then he wouldn’t have any further use for Emory.” Jamison nodded. “Well, right after I told him, he left.” Wendi paused for a moment wondering if her brother would break in, but he didn’t. “Carr went looking for him.” Wendi said after a moment. Jamison looked shocked that Carr would do that, but he knew Wendi was telling the truth. “So, why did you guys break up?” The question was finally asked. Why did Wendi and Carr not seem to look at each other in the face any longer. Why were things so different for them now. “Jami..” Wendi started. “Keith killed Emory..”
“What?” Jamison asked after a paused. Wendi nodded. “Carr found him in the woods by Hogsmeade. Apparently, that is where Keith has been hiding out. Keith was gone when Carr got there, but Emory’s body was there and it killed Carr to look at him.” She trembled a bit. “It Carr okay?” He asked. “Not really.” She said sighing. “They didn’t get a long well, but they were family. Carr loved Emory.” Wendi paused. “I hate Keith.” She said under her breath. “I mean, I didn’t like Emory, but did Keith have to kill him? Why does he have to ruin everything?” She asked on the verge of tears. Jamison then wrapped his arms around his sister. “Because that is the kind of guy he is. Wendi he’s evil, he isn’t like the rest of us. It is clear that he wants something. And he wants to use you to get it.” Wendi nodded. She knew all this, but she still didn’t know why Emory had to dye. She sighed. “He ruined everything you know?” Jamison nodded. He did know Keith tended to do that a lot.
Jamison sighed. “So, is that why you and Carr broke up?” He asked. Wendi eyed him. “Yes and know. Well, the fact is, I’m really not ready for a boyfriend. I just couldn’t see this for myself until Emory’s death. It changed Carr a bit, Jame.” She sighed. “I think a part of him died with Emory.” Jamison nodded sort of understanding. “I felt as if Carr would stop looking to me as Wendi..” Jamison looked confused for a second, then realized what she meant. “I felt as if he would look at me as Wendi, the murder Keith’s niece. And while, he said that he would never think that, I could already feel him thinking it.” Wendi looked to her brother. “Maybe one day, I’ll feel differently. With time, maybe I won’t feel like Carr wants anyone associated with Keith dead. But, right now, that is how I feel.” She paused. “And I really don’t see that changing anytime soon.” Wendi felt a tear leave her eye. “I really cared about him, you know.” She cried into Jamison’s arms. He nodded. “I know.”
