“Welcome to Casa de la McDuff!” Carr yelled as he opened the mansion door. “Wow.” Wendi said shortly with her jaw dropped as far as it could just. She spun around smiling brightly. “Oh my gosh!” She yelped. Carr could only laugh. “You didn’t tell me you lived in a palace.” Wendi said turning and smiling. Carr shrugged. “Not a palace. Just a home.” He said simply. “Nuh-uh. This is amazing.” Wendi said taking a few steps on the marble floor. The main greeting room was huge. It was red with white marble floors. Tons of paintings aligned the walls and sculptures were all around. “Wow. Obviously you weren’t the decorator.” She said laughing while leaning against a sculpture. Carr smiled. “Now do I seem like that kind of guy?” Wendi shook her head. “Nope.” She said smiling. “Carr! Carr!” Three triplet yelled screaming and running down the huge staircase. Carr smiled and ran up to them. “Hey guys!” He called. Just then, the three noticed Wendi. “Wendi!” they all called running to their friend. “Hey Nick, Tazz, Diem.” She said smiling at them all. “Home for good?” Tazz asked Carr shyly. “For the summer.” He explained. She nodded. “Where are Henri and Lori?” He asked. “You mean Henrietta and Lorraine?” Diem asked doing a girly like impression. “Huh?” Carr exclaimed. Nick rolled his eyes. “They’re ‘grown up now.’” He said using air quotes. “Follow me.” Tazz said walking to the hall. Carr shrugged as he looked at Wendi who just began to follow the triplets. Carr sighed and followed the four.
“Carr!” Henri said hugging her brother tightly. Lori smiled and waited for Henri to pull away and then hugged Carr. “You must be Wendi.” Lori said to Wendi as she moved away from Carr. She nodded. “The one and only.” She said smiling. “Finally someone our age at home.” Henri said rolling her eyes. “She’s two years older than you two dim whits.” He joked. Lori poked him in the head. “Hey where did the triplets go?” He asked looking around the stables, where the triplets had led them to. “Beats me.” Lori said walking over to one of the stalls. The three followed. “Wendi, do you ride?” She asked. “A little.” Wendi admitted. “Well, meet my baby, Janardan.” She said petting the horse’s black main. Wendi smiled. “Pretty.” She said petting him as well. “Henri, do you ride?” Wendi asked looking to Henri. “Henrietta, actually. And no.” She paused. “Lori and Tazz ride. Me and Diem ice skate.” She explained. Wendi nodded. “So what exactly is with this whole ‘Henrietta and Lorraine thing?” He asked walking over to another stall. “We’re grown up now. We needed grown up names.” Lori said simply. “Please.” Carr laughed. “You’re twelve.” He laughed. “Point not taken.” Wendi only smiled.
“So where’s Wendi staying?” Henri asked as she and Lori walked Wendi and Carr back into the house. “Dunno, the guest room next to mine maybe.” He said shrugging. Wendi nodded slightly. “So what exactly is going on with you two?” Lori asked budding in between Carr and Wendi as they walked. Wendi felt her cheeks blush. “Umm.” Wendi said figiding around a bit. “Uh-oh.” The twins said in unison. Carr hit them lightly on the head. “Buzz off.” He warned. “Fine.” They both agreed. Henri and Lori stopped outside of a door after they walked up the stairs. “Wendi Parson, this will be your humble abode for the next month or whatever..” Lori said laughing as she opened the door. “Welcome!” Three voices called from inside. Wendi laughed loudly. “Didn’t you guys already do that?” Carr asked the triplets. “Yea, but this time we have banners!” Diem cheered. Wendi smiled to Carr. “It’s cute.” She told him. “Yea, like mutant bunnies.” He joked. “Okay everyone out. Let’s let Wendi-kid here some rest.” He said ushering everyone out. Wendi smiled looking around the huge lavender colored room as she crashed on the lavender and yellow quilt bedspread with a canopy over it. Carr stood by the door as the other were now gone. “I’ll be in my room where you’re up.” He told her. She nodded knowing that he knew she wanted a nap. “Hey Carr.” She stopped him. “No more Wendi-kid.” She said sternly. Carr smiled. “Yes Ms. Parson.” He said closing the door.
A knock on the door awoke her. “Huh?” She called sitting straight up in her bed. Another knock. Wendi sighed. She had already changed into some night clothes as the house elves had put her bags in her room before she had entered. She was now wearing small pink and yellow polka-dotted shorts and a yellow camisole. She yawned going for the door. “I swear Carr McDuff you are uber annoying.” She said smiling and opening the door not caring the Carr would see her in her p.j.’s. “Ahh!” She yelped seeing a boy standing in front of her. Wendi pulled her arms around her stomach. “You’re not Carr.” She said blatantly. The boy nodded. “Wow my brother sure knows how to pick the smart ones and you’re not the Queen of England, but that’s just me being brilliant.” Wendi raised an eyebrow. “Who are you?” She asked rolling her eyes at the rude boy in front of her who was taking steps closer to her. “Emory?” A voice asked. Wendi smiled as Carr walked up beside her and Emory backed up as Carr put his arm around Wendi. “Wait, your Emory?” Wendi asked looking from Carr to Emory.
