Juliet stared into the mirror as she applied the red lipstick to her pink lips. One thing that a lot of people knew about Juliet was that she loved clothes. But not the usual expensive, appropriate clothes that most Slytherin girls wore. No, Juliet preferred the expensive, tiny, stylish clothes that would make her parents cringe. She never wore any of her favorite clothes in front of her dad. She didn’t want to give him a heart-attack after all. Juliet didn’t care what her mum thought at her. Her mum had no say so in her life anymore and Juliet was going to keep it that way. She smiled at her reflection as she finished her primping. Juliet was always up for a good party. Well, she hadn’t always been. The first half of her first year at Hogwarts, Juliet had practically been a little princess, but that changed when the divorce papers came. Juliet didn’t think about if much really. She was never going to be that little girl again. This Juliet liked parties, drinks, and boys. This Juliet didn’t cry to her doll for a month after the divorce. This Juliet partied her fears away no matter what. What this Juliet didn’t realize, was how dangerous her habits could become.
Juliet picked up her chic black bag as she left her dorm. None of her dorm-mates were in there. Most of them had boyfriends so Juliet assumed that they were with them on the cold Saturday night. Juliet sighed. She had never wanted a boyfriend really. What was the point? They were all either rebels or exactly what their parents wanted. Juliet didn’t want a cookie-cutter boyfriend or a cookie-cutter friend. She wanted someone totally original and she would wait for a boyfriend until she found that person. Until then, Juliet would be the flirt that she always was. She was perfectly fine with that. Juliet left her dorm and then left the common room. Silly students. All of the first and second years were doing different things. She wondered what the other students were doing. Juliet knew of several students that would be joining her at the Three Broomsticks for the random party nights that took place there. But most of the others were probably doing homework or something. What a waste of a good Saturday night.
The dark sky was perfectly clear of clouds and the moon full. Stars decorated the sky. Juliet smiled as she actually took the time to notice such things. She often found herself admiring beauty, but maybe that was just the fashion girl inside of her, maybe not. Juliet entered the village and smiled lightly. How she did love a good party. It was her way to escape. Juliet had a lot of eyes on her as she passed different people throughout the village. She had always been a beautiful girl even as a baby. That was why Josephine wanted her to model so badly. But, whatever. Juliet would never do what her mum wanted. Defying that horrible woman was a lot of fun in Juliet’s mind. Juliet smirked. She didn’t mind the attention really, but after awhile, the looks got boring. Juliet made it a point to look everyone guy in the eye that looked at her. She constantly saw the same thing. She saw guys that lacked originality and passion. Juliet wouldn’t even talk to a guy like that. They were all the same: predictable and boring.
Juliet entered the three broomsticks. She loved a good party. A smirk-like smile escaped her lips. All the right people seemed to be at the party. There were many Slytherins that she liked and even a few Ravenclaws that she could tolerate. Yep, the night was sure to be awesome. Juliet approached the counter and ordered herself a drink. A few eyes seemed to be on her and her outfit. Juliet smiled at the cute boys and rolled her eyes at the others. Her short black dress was enough to make any guy look. She had a heating charm placed on her legs so she wouldn’t get the slightly bit cold. She slipped off her black jacket as the bartender passed her, her drink. She smiled as the liquid stung her throat. She was used to it. Juliet sighed as the bartender was still looking at her. “What?” She asked in her usual tone. “Nothing. You’re very pretty is all.” He had that perv look in his eyes. Juliet faked a smile. “Leave before this drink ends up in your face with the added pain of me slapping you.” Her fake smile was still plastered on her face. “Fine.” He said walking off to serve another customer. Juliet rolled her eyes and sat back on her barstool that actually had a small back like some did. “Fool.” She took another sip of her drink. Yep, this had all the makings of a perfect Saturday night for Juliet.

Jack needed a night out. He had been cramming for the semester exams for weeks on end, and they still weren’t for a little while yet. He couldn’t figure out some things, but that’s what professors and tutors were for, to help him when he needed it. After such a long day of cramming (not to mention, classes on top of everything) he needed to get out and enjoy himself. His brothers had been on him about losing his wand, particularly Bronsen, because he had run into him while he was searching for it in the hallways. Sometimes he really could not stand that little annoying person of a brother. He was so young, and he just didn’t understand things sometimes. He had that stupid love for wands, so much in fact that it would take away from his schooling. Jack would never let something so trivial get in the way of his education. Now, a relationship would take his mind off things, but not as much as wands took Bronsen’s mind off it. August, on the other hand, understood things a bit better, but not much. Jack seemed to be on his own, for the most part. No one seemed to understand what kind of things he dealt with on a daily basis. Things like dealing with his parents’ abandonment of him, and their attention to his brothers more than him. He still couldn’t believe that they would do such a thing. He was the oldest; he should get the most attention.
But that would never happen. They weren’t the right fit for him anymore, and he had been able to get used to that after five full years of Hogwarts and being, for the most part, on his own. Jack had become the imperfect rebellious child, constantly acting like everything was fine around the right people, yet acting out on his feelings and frustrations when he was alone or with people he knew he could trust. August had been one of those people, but not to the extreme he felt he needed. He needed someone he could let loose with; someone he could just act like himself with, anytime. Of course, it would be wonderful to have a girl in his life to be that person for him, but where would he find such a person? Certainly not here at Hogwarts. Unless it was a sly Slytherin that was almost the same way he was. Rebellious when he needed to be, but proved to others that he could handle himself.
Jack headed out the huge castle doors, down the road that led to Hogsmeade. Three Broomsticks was open tonight, and he had heard whispers of a party going on at that very moment. Maybe he could revitalize himself by having a drink or two, and just letting himself get loose in the midst of the party. It was a chilly night, so he walked rather quickly down the path. He loved the cold, yet he hurried because he wanted to get this bad feeling out of him. He came upon the entrance to the pub, and let himself in quietly. It didn’t matter how loud he was though, because it was nearly deafening with the music up so loud. He walked over to the bar, eying the back, looking for the bartender. Jack got closer and saw him at the end of the row, an attractive woman asking for a drink right in front of him. He was surprised to see such a beautiful woman in a place like this, but then again, what was a guy like him doing there in the first place? She was likely drowning her sorrows, or living it up, as some had a tendency to do. He walked over to her, as she drank deeply the liquid she had been given. “You might want to drink only a bit at a time. It makes it last longer. Or do you not care about getting buzzed quickly?” he questioned.
He took another look at her, admiring the beauty in front of him. She was wearing the tightest, smallest clothes he had ever seen, and to a point, he liked it. The woman looked good in her clothing, and it seemed she knew it. Jack figured it was only fair to ask, wondering where she was coming from. Should he ask her to dance? He needed to get out there and let loose, and Jack figured this was the easiest way to begin the process. “One of what she’s got, for me, bartender,” he said to the man behind the bar. He got his drink and downed it quickly, almost as fast as she had. “Care to dance?” he aske

Juliet looked behind her at the sound of a voice. She looked the guy over. He was rather handsome actually. He looked older, but Juliet knew that he wasn’t. Actually, she knew him just not very well. Jack something...he had two brothers. Jack..what? Right. Jack Reid. It just took her a second to connect the name and the face. Juliet was usually rather good at identify Slytherin Students. She knew a lot of their parents from events and such after all. However, Juliet didn’t have any memory of actually talking to Jack. Then again. There were quite a few Slytherin Students in their year. They did have a lot of classes together, but Juliet usually sat in a group of girls or whoever she wished to talk to that particular day. Juliet offered him a slight, half-smile at his words. Obviously, he didn’t know her at all. Anyone that knew Juliet knew that she could handle her alcohol. Years of partying had given her this ability. Plus, according to her father, Juliet had received the ‘gift’ from her mother. Not that Juliet cared much. She looked the cute boy over again.
“I’m used to it really. Doesn’t faze me much.” She explained to him. Her tone always had a way to get colder without her necessarily trying. “And I can always get another drink when I run out.” That was the power of daddy’s money though. Really, Juliet would prefer to use her mother and step-daddy’s money, but since they weren’t talking, that wasn’t an option. Five years. That was the last time that Juliet had spoken to her mother. Her last words to her had been ‘mum?’ as her mother left the room. That was the day that Juliet learned about the divorce. Juliet would much prefer to spend her mother’s money rather than her father’s, but she would never do that to her father. Besides, Juliet knew that her step-daddy was loaded. He just didn’t have as much as her father. Juliet sighed and looked to Jack. He was rather easy on the eyes, wasn’t he?
She looked in his eyes as she did to every guy. There was something there. Something that Juliet couldn’t explain. He wasn’t boring nor did he seem to be a ‘cookie cutter Slytherin’. He was different. Different was a good thing. Juliet smirked when Jack ordered the same thing. The same sleezy bartender came over to make it. “Be careful with him Jack, he might just hit on you as well.” The bartender gave her a look, gave Jack his drink, and walked away. Wow Juliet really did have a talent of getting people to leave. They were afraid of her, nervous of what she could do. Juliet couldn’t say that she liked things that way. Well, maybe she did a little bit. Juliet looked Jack in the eyes when he asked if she would like to dance. Seriously? Juliet wasn’t that naïve. She was a flirt, but she wasn’t one to let the guy be the leader. “I’ve got a better idea.” Juliet looked to the cute boy that was sitting beside her. She flashed him a fake smile. “Hi. I’m Jaimie and I’m new here. So, could my boyfriend sit beside me pretty please?” She faked the emotion, the accent, and everything. Juliet was quite good at acting really. The boy looked to Jack and sighed. Obviously, he had wanted to talk to Juliet, but he wasn’t the one that Juliet wanted to talk to. She wanted to talk to Jack with that none-cookie cutter look in his eyes. The boy finally shrugged and smile a bit at the fake, cute expression that Juliet was showing. He then walked off.
Juliet looked to Jack. “I got him to scatter. You might as well sit there.” She told him. “So, Jack Reid. I didn’t know that this was your kind of scene. Actually, I don’t know you at all.” Juliet told him. She wasn’t sure if he had recognized her yet, but of course Juliet wasn’t exactly dressed in her Slytherin Robes. She really was only talking to the guy because of the vibe he gave off. It was hard to explain really but Juliet was like that. Juliet wouldn’t just talk to everyone and it had more to do than house and the purity of blood. Juliet wanted to talk to original people, people that would make her laugh her think. What Juliet didn’t know was that her mother did the same thing. If Juliet knew this, she would stop the habit at once.

As Jack eyed the girl, he tried to picture who she was. He knew he had seen her around Hogwarts before, but couldn’t place her, especially without her robes on. What she was wearing caught his eye quite quickly, and he had a hard time pulling his eyes away from time to time. She was indeed very attractive, gorgeous even. He looked in her eyes again, and it hit him hard. Juliet. She was Slytherin as well, and he had quite a few classes with her. It was quite possible to not know everyone in each one of your classes, particularly at Hogwarts, the medium size school it was. But he had heard of Juliet. She knew how to have a good time, people had said. Of course, he rarely listened to the filthy gossip that went around his house, mainly because so much of it was trivial and unimportant things, most of the time things he couldn’t stand to hear. He just hated gossip so much sometimes. Juliet tended to sit with her girls, or with people she felt like talking to that particular day, as he saw it, which was from a distance. He hadn’t talked to her at all, yet they did know of each other. He assumed he didn’t have any chance in the world of being with her, but he could try, couldn’t he? It may be a feeble attempt, but it got his mind off the events at hand.
She mentioned how she was used to the alcohol, and he chuckled. He barely drank, but when he did, he sometimes had a tendency to go overboard. Tonight, that would not be the case. He had one thing in mind, and that thing was to figure out this stunning girl in front of him, and what made her tick. Apparently for her, the cup was bottomless, and he didn’t have a problem with that. Of course he didn’t want to have to drag a drunk girl dressed the way she was back to the castle, nor carry her anywhere. But if it came to that, he was willing to. The girl seemed distracted slightly, but he couldn’t place what it could be, or if it was just his own mind reading into the situation too much. He looked her in the eyes again, replying. “Well I guess that puts you at limitless, doesn’t it?” he said. Jack caught her looking him back in the eye, and couldn’t help but notice her beauty again. She was simply beautiful, that’s all there really was to it. She obviously knew it, as well, because of the way she dressed and the way she carried herself. When he called the bartender over for a drink, he laughed at the joke she made about him. It was good to see the girl had a sense of humor as well, even when she was being hit on by a lonely old bartender. She seemed to have control over that section of the bar, and he liked a woman that could take control. At least to a point. He didn’t want the girl to take all control, of course. That wasn’t healthy in any relationship, even something as simple as drinks at Three Broomsticks. The bartender left, and Jack looked back at Juliet as she explained how she had a better idea than dancing at the moment, shutting him down for a few seconds.
Jack watched as she worked her magic on the guy sitting next to her, faking that he was her boyfriend and getting the guy to move, especially so easily. I guess guys really will do whatever the attractive girl wants, he thought to himself. He wouldn’t necessarily do the same, unless he felt he might get something in return. Did he actually feel that way? Yes, for the most part. He had turned into a selfish Slytherin since his parents had seemingly given up on his life. Enough thinking of that crap, he thought. She invited him to sit down next to her, and he did, spinning the barstool backwards and moving in a bit closer to her than the imbecile before him had dared. Something was different about Juliet though, and he couldn’t place it. All he knew was that he wanted to know her better. “Yeah, well. From time to time things get a bit too hectic and crazy out at the castle so I come down here to cool off. It’s an exciting place to come out to. You could run into anyone,” he said slyly. “Even you, Juliet Moreau.” He eyed her again, watching her finish her drink. “So what exactly brings you out here? Looking for someone to drown your sorrows with?” Jack already knew the answer to the question. She was down here because this was her scene. This was where she always was, as far as he had heard around the Slytherin house. Again, he hated the gossip, but sometimes he couldn’t keep away from it. He tried to think of something else to question her about, trying to get her interested in talking. “Well after all that work to get that guy off your back, I’m sure you’ve got something to say or ask me. I don’t really know you either, so it might be nice, if we’re not going to dance, to get to know each other a bit more, don’t you think?” Jack winked at her as he finished his statement, waiting for the girl to respond.

Juliet took another sip from her drink. She wasn’t a heavy drinker, but she could handle her alcohol. Really, Juliet liked parties more than the drinks. She was a part girl, not a drinker. Juliet looked at Jack. He didn’t look as comfortable to be there as Juliet was. But, then again, not many people were so used to this scene as Juliet was. Jack probably already knew this. Hogwarts students loved to gossip and Juliet wasn’t excluded in this. Some students had a lot said about them. Like the Gryffindor who had a baby and that younger singer girl. Juliet wasn’t famous, but she got talked about fairly often. Whatever. She never listened. She didn’t care what the muggle-borns had to say about her anyways. Juliet took another sip. This distracted her from everything. This is how she healed even though Juliet would never admit to herself that she was hurting. She was too stubborn for that. She never got tried of parties. They ere her scene. It sounded weird, but this is where Juliet relaxed. This is where she felt most comfortable. At School, she had to work hard to become a Healer and she had to dodge the gossipers while making them think that she hated the. At parties, Juliet was the life of the party. And that’s when she felt most comfortable.
Juliet nodded at Jack comment. He was really attractive, eh? Juliet hadn’t really noticed before at school. That was because she wasn’t looking for a boy at Hogwarts. Well, not really. Juliet was a flirt, a free spirit. Could she ever even settle down? She had convinced her head that she couldn’t, but her heart said she could. She just wouldn’t let herself admit it yet. Juliet had this shield that went up around her the day that her mother left. From that day on, no one could get through the shield, not even Juliet’s dad. This was the way Juliet liked it. This was the way that it was supposed to be. Juliet looked to Jack. She had to stop looking in his eyes, but it was hard. There was something there and it bugged Juliet that she knew that he wasn’t a boring, cookie-cutter boy. She almost wished that she would stop her eyes-gazing at every boy she met.
Juliet gave her smirk-smile. “You came to a party to cool off?” Wow that sounded like herself. “Don’t let that get around or everyone will think you’re my brother.” Student couldn’t really explain why Juliet was the way she was. But they knew that she liked to cool off at these parties, that she lived for them. She took yet another sip of her drink. She didn’t even wince when the liquid hit her throat. “Even me?” She repeated his words at first. “I’m here all the time and it seems like the whole school knows that.” Juliet certainly had a reputation. If a student knew anything about Juliet Moreau, they knew that she went to a party pretty much every week. Juliet eyed Jack as she raised an eye-brow. “I’m not drowning my sorrows and I’m certainly not looking for a guy to drink with.” Even though technically, both Juliet and Jack were drinking but she didn’t think of it in that way. “This is just what I do.” So, maybe the drinks were starting to affect her just a bit.
Juliet had told Jack something about herself by accident. But she wasn’t about to say anything about it. She wouldn’t say anything else about it that was for sure. Juliet eyed Jack again. “That wasn’t work. It was easy really and I just thought that you would like a place to sit.” She said explaining without looking liked she cared much. Juliet was good at hiding things. Juliet smiled a tad before taking the final sip of her drink. She would wait just a minute before getting another. “Fine. How about this, I’ll ask you a question and then you ask me one or vice versa. Sounds fair?” She paused, waiting for him to say something before she asked a question or he did. Either way this could get interesting. Juliet had always liked intrigue.

Jack seemed to be unable to keep his eyes off the girl in front of him. Well, she was in front of him. That did kind of make it hard. But she was just that attractive to him? Yes. He knew it for a fact. But knowing Juliet, from what others had told him, she was one of the flirty girls, one that would flirt with guys even if she had a boyfriend, which he believed she didn’t. He wasn’t positive, but almost every time he saw her, she was with another guy. Guess tonight’s my night with the famous Juliet Moreau, he thought to himself. She made a comment about his cooling off at parties like this, and he had to laugh when she joked about him being her brother. “Well I surely wouldn’t want to be thought of as your brother, especially sitting here having drinks with you looking like that. Any brother of yours would likely have a good head on his shoulders, probably like your parents, and tell you to change before you went out. I, on the other hand, want to compliment you on it. You pull off the look rather well. You got me to look, after all.” Jack winked as he said the words. She questioned about his comment, and he backed it up. “Yes, I do realize I was wrong. The school does seem to know about your ‘escapades’ to the bar rather often. Word does travel, quickly in fact.” He chuckled at the amount of gossip he actually remembered.
He could tell by her words and actions that the drinks were beginning to have their affect on her already. “Are you sure you’re not looking for a boy to drink with? Maybe it’s just the drinks talking. After all, I’m a guy, and you’re drinking with me, aren’t you?” He smirked, chuckling to himself about the situation. He definitely hadn’t come out looking for a girl to spend the night with, nor was he the least bit interested in finding one. Yet, somewhere during the night he had grown a desire for Juliet. She was smart, beautiful, and downright independent. That got him looking, after all, didn’t it? She explained how it was simple for her to get the man to leave. He had to admit, she was good. Very good.
She finished her drink rather quickly, as he took notice of her beauty again. She looked like she was contemplating another drink to follow it up, and he glanced at his already half empty glass. He drank the rest of it just as quickly, and hit the glass on the table. “Hey, another round, if you don’t mind. Give me something a bit stronger this time,” he said loudly. The bartender glanced his way, scowling it seemed, and walked over. “What’ll it be?” the man asked him. “Eh, give me a double of whatever you think is best.” The bartender looked over at Juliet, and looked back at Jack, seemingly scowling. Jack felt his temper grow. “Hey buddy,” he said to the man, with a glare. “If you’ve got a problem with my girlfriend here, why don’t you take it up with me? Stop checkin’ her out, or you might lose our business. I think you might need that extra few bucks, wouldn’t ya? Gotta pay the rent, right?” The man looked at him, even madder, likely, and poured both drinks. With one last look at Jack, the man left, storming off to the back of the bar. Idiot, he thought in his mind.
Jack looked back at Juliet. "Sorry about that. The guy's a jerk, you know that already. Anyway, you were saying?" He listened as she started a game of questions. He laughed. “Sounds intriguing. But, ladies first, of course. You ask me something. No holes barred either. We’re Slytherins, and we’re not kids anymore. Ask me anything.” He could tell he was going to like finding out more about this girl. He waited for her to think of a question.

Juliet smiled slightly at Jack’s flattery. Usually, she would dismiss a boy’s actions when he acted like that. Juliet didn’t usually like a kiss-up, but Jack didn’t seem to be that way. He seemed genuine in his words which seemed rather rare for a Slytherin boy. Juliet eyed the empty glass in front of her before she turned back to Jack. She didn’t mind his presence at all. Actually, it was rather easy to talk to him even if they hadn’t much yet. Juliet didn’t feel awkward sitting next to him nor did she want to leave. Juliet was known to always have a boy at her side. This was true, but Juliet never would have expected that for one night, that boy was Jack Reid. Really she would never have guessed this because she had never talked to him before. Plus, all the boys that Juliet spent time with were jerks really. She most likely did that on purpose. Really, because she didn’t have to have anything serious with those boys and she was free to live her love-less life. That sort of thing scared Juliet even if she wouldn’t admit it. Really, maybe she was better just being alone. However, Juliet didn’t feel like she wanted to be alone while she was talking to Jack. It was a new feeling really. And it was a weird one for her.
“You are charmer Jack Reid.” She said with her usual, sly smile. “I’ll give you that.” She added. “Well, I don’t have a brother to tell me to change and even if I did, I wouldn’t listen. My parents, well my parent, he never sees me like this. I’m still his little princess in his head.” Well that was true. Juliet didn’t think of her mother as a mother anymore. Probably because Josephine hadn’t acted like a mom in years. And deep down, Juliet knew that her father saw through her lies, but they both ignored what they already knew. It was easier for both of them that way. “My escapades? They make it sound like I’m involved in drug scandal or something.” She laughed at the thought. Juliet wasn’t one for drugs of course. It was still weird to her that the school liked to talk about her. Still, Juliet gave them things to talk about. She was good at that.
“Fine.” She admitted. “I’m drinking with you, but I didn’t go looking for you after all. You showed up on your own. ” She gave that sly smile again. Her little sly jokes were one of her trade marks. She was good at making them. “But it isn’t that awful having you here.” She added slyly. Really, she made it clear in her voice that she sort of liked having him there. But, she didn’t make it that obvious. It was weird for her to be talking to a boy who wasn’t talking to her just because of her reputation. It was rare to find a boy like that. Juliet eyed Jack as he ordered more drinks and the creepy bar tender looked at Juliet again. She gave a small smile as Jack sent him away. “Wow. I didn’t know you had it in you. That was rather impressive actually.” She didn’t mind that she had called her his girlfriend. It was just an act after all. Plus, Juliet had called Jack her boyfriend before. It seemed that they were both good at manipulating people in different ways. Juliet smiled at the new drink in front of her. She eyed Jack as she took another sip. The look on her face said ‘thanks’ even if she wouldn’t say it herself.
“He is a jerk, but he always has been. He tried to kiss me one night if I do remember correctly.” She smirked thinking about it. “I hexed him of course.” True, it was against the rules, but one little hex hadn’t hurt him that bad. Plus, this was her first offence so she didn’t get into any trouble. Juliet smiled again as Jack agreed to the question game. “Righty then. Hmm..” She thought for a minute. Jack had a good point in saying that they weren’t kids. This was very true. She finally got a question and looked him in his gorgeous eyes. “Okay then. So tell me Jack Reid. Why exactly do you not have a girlfriend?” She would start out with something not so scandalous. Then she would get to the hard questions. Yep, it would be an interesting game. Juliet was actually interested to know the answer. She waited for his response and his question.

Jack chuckled when Juliet mentioned about still being “daddy’s little princess”. Juliet was, in reality, anything but a princess, especially right now. Yet at the same time, she was still stealing his glances. He wanted her, didn’t he? Sort of. He couldn’t really decide if it was the right thing. But then again, had his parents done the right thing with him? Of course not. They had abandoned him for the most part, just to take better care of the other boys in the house. It had made him this rebellious man he was now. And that rebel inside him wanted the woman in front of him. It didn’t matter that they didn’t really know each other yet, he still liked her. His parents hadn’t acted like parents, and it seemed that Juliet had similar problems at home. Jack had heard rumors about her mom walking out on the family, but he couldn’t be sure. Besides, he wanted love, or at least someone to like him, rather than wallowing in the frustrations of his own family life. August and Brenson didn’t know what it was like to be him. They had no idea. They couldn’t ever know what it was like to be the oldest and be abandoned for younger, prettier, smarter children.
There she was, making small jokes and giving that sly smile again. He had learned to love that smile in the short twenty minutes or so that likely had gone by. Every time she looked at him like that, he wanted to get closer to her, to see that smile up close. Of course, that likely wasn’t appropriate at all, especially with just really meeting her tonight. He brushed the thought from his mind as best as he could, but it wouldn’t fully leave. He smiled as she said how it wasn’t too awful to have him there for company. “Well thank you. You’re not that bad to be seen with either.” He smiled when she complimented him about sending the horny old man away. “Well,” he said. “He was getting on my nerves as well. I figured he wouldn’t mess with you much more if he thought you were my girlfriend. Of course, if I really was your boyfriend, he would know as soon as you walked in that he couldn’t try that stuff with you. I’d be at your side. Then he’d have nowhere to talk.” He said this with a grin, smiling at Juliet yet again.
He hoped she wasn’t getting put off by his forthrightness, especially with the fact they had just began really talking that night. Then again, some of it could have been the drinks, on both their parts. He hadn’t drank in a while, and he had forgotten how it made him feel. He felt loose, and he felt like he could basically do almost anything, and get away with it. But he still had some of his right mind in control, and that kept him from launching out into a point where he couldn’t come back from. Jack laughed hard as Juliet told him about the one time the man had tried to kiss her. “I bet he loved the hex you gave him. It’s a surprise he didn’t learn his lesson. Hopefully I won’t have to put a spell on him, I can assure you he won’t like it.” He smirked again. The man should just quit. He was a bum. Why he was still there, Jack didn’t know.
Jack looked back at Juliet as she thought about a question to ask him. She looked him in the eyes, and asked why he didn’t have a girlfriend. He looked away for a second, contemplating his response. He came to his conclusion, and looked back at her, searching her eyes for anything he could find. “It’s somewhat simple, actually,” he said coolly. “I’ve had my share of girls that could have been good for me, and could have made a wonderful relationship with, but I’ve dedicated my life to finding someone who will challenge me. I want a woman that knows her independency, and isn’t ashamed of it. Someone who wants to be with me, for me. Not so that she can have some boy candy on her arm, and the ‘perfect’ boyfriend. I guess I just haven’t found that right girl yet. I know that might sound cliché, but it’s definitely the truth.” He flipped through numerous questions he could ask, and finally came up with one. “What kind of guy do you look for? I know you’re a party girl, but I’m sure there’s some kind of man that meets your expectations. What’s your ideal?” He secretly wanted her to say it was him, but he knew those things only happened in sappy love stories that his mother loved to death. Apparently he still had a bit of his parents in him. He searched her eyes, looking for the answer she was about to give him.

Juliet took another sip of her drink as she looked to Jack. She was actually having fun talking to him. He wasn’t like the other boys that Juliet was usually attracted to. They were usually older, usually so much different that her. For some reason, Jack didn’t seem totally different from Juliet. They both had that look in their eyes. The look that even Juliet couldn’t explain. Was Juliet really attracted to him? No. Wait. She couldn’t do this. She couldn’t fall for anyone. That would make her weak. Juliet stared blankly at a wall for a moment. She had to shake this off. She had to. Juliet sighed. He was attractive and that was it. She nodded. Yep. That was it. Juliet took another sip of her drink. Yep, better to be drunk than feel anything. Really, drinking just came with partying. Juliet was more of a party girl than a drinker, but she did like the feeling alcohol gave her. She eyed Jack. Well since she didn’t like him, (she convinced herself of this) she could have just a little flirting fun. Right? Right.
Juliet nodded as Jack said that she wasn’t bad to be seen with either. “Good to know.” Juliet knew she was attractive. If she wasn’t, she wouldn’t dress herself the way she did. She could be a bit full of herself at times, but that was just the way she was. That was just a side-affect of being born into the Moreau family. Juliet eyed Jack as he told her how things would be if she was his girlfriend. She offered her usual smirk-smile. “I can take care of myself.” She told him easily. Well what else could she say? Juliet sighed. She was getting a bit bored or tipsy. She just didn’t know which one. “Be at my side. What are you a dog?” She joked lightly. Yep, Juliet defiantly had a unique personality that was for sure.
Juliet took another sip and shook her head. “He didn’t like it because it made his body fell like his was being poked with needles.” She explained. “But it wore off rather quickly so he wasn’t that upset at it.” She thought for a moment and laughed slightly. “Yea your right he probably did like it, but that was the only hex I could think of at the moment. Well, the only one I thought of that wouldn’t get me sent to Azkaban.” She smirked. Yep that day she wanted to perform the Cruico curse, but of course she didn’t. She wasn’t that cruel. Well, usually. Juliet sighed. She had already been mad the day that she hexed the bartender. If she was correct, her father had been forgotten to meet her for lunch. So of course Juliet had stopped at the pub for a drink. The rest of that day was hazy, but she remembered feeling power in hexing him even if it was sort of for protection. She learned that day that powerful worked for her.
Juliet eyed Jack as he answered her question. “Aww Jack’s holding out for love how sweet.” She tried to make her voice sound sarcastic, but Juliet actually liked what he was saying. No one would ever guess that Juliet Moreau was a romantic. After all, she had been seen with more guys than most of could. But what people did know that Juliet was hiding behind these guys. That was easier than finding the right one. Sad but true. Juliet eyed him. “It’s kind of noble really. But, you didn’t hear that from me.” She smirked. Yep, maybe the drinks were affecting her a bit too much, but she could still handle herself fine. Juliet gave her smile when Jack asked her first question. “I don’t know. Someone strong, someone different. I hate ‘cookie-cutter boys’. By that I mean boring boys or ones that want to date me because there parents want a girl with a good family.” She sighed. She hated when parents tried to do that. It was good to know that Juliet’s father would never do that to her. Juliet would never even let her mother try, but Josephine had always wanted her daughter to be in an arranged marriage. Craziness. “Someone who isn’t afraid.” She said finally. That was her answer. She wanted someone who wasn’t afraid of the true, blue Juliet. Was there even such a guy out there? Juliet smiled at Jack and then started thinking of her next one. She wasn’t sure if this was too much, but she had to ask. “So, obviously a lot of rumors get to me. Why don’t you like your brothers?” This was just something that Juliet had heard. She wasn’t sure. She just had to ask. After all, as Jack had said, there was no holding back. They weren’t little kids anymore.

When Jack was done explaining how things could be, he wasn’t surprised to hear Juliet say she could take care of herself. She was a very independent woman, he could tell this even from tonight, even though he knew it prior to their meeting. She seemed bored with him, though. Either that or the drinks were finally having an effect. The girl knew how to hold her liquor, he had to admit that. He usually didn’t have too much to drink whenever he went out, and he was nearing his limit as it was. He took another big gulp of his strong drink, almost wincing as the cool liquid smashed into the back of his throat. It was a good drink, just a bit stronger than he liked. He laughed as Juliet made a joke about him being a dog. “No, no,” he said, chuckling. “I would just be there for you if you needed me. Of course, with how independent you are, you’d likely never need me. Is that why you don’t have an actual boyfriend? You feel you don’t need one?” He wanted to know, honestly. He wasn’t just trying to make conversation.
He also wasn’t surprised that she had thought of using a forbidden curse on the man. Of course she would have been arrested and sent to Azkaban, but it’s not like the idea hadn’t flown through his mind. He could very well have used one of them on his parents, maybe even more so his brothers, just to get them to see what was really going on with his life. But he would never stoop that low. He may have been pretty downright mean, but not to the point of using an unforgivable curse. He chuckled again, looking into her eyes, when she made fun of him for holding out for love. There was a hint of sarcasm in her voice, which made him think she might have meant it. Then she confirmed his suspicion by explaining how she thought it was noble of him. He sighed. “Yes,” he said, almost not caring. “It’s quite noble, but it gets me nowhere with the ladies. Not like I need someone or anything, but girls tend to be put off by it, or they think it’s so great; they’re just not the ones to fill the shoes of that person for me. It leaves me high and dry a lot.” It was the truth, wasn’t it? Yes, of course. No matter how many girls he liked, it didn’t matter. They always thought he deserved much better, and that was why they broke up with him. It was so frustrating. Juliet would likely be mostly the same way, if his suspicion was correct. She didn’t need a man, and she didn’t want one. This was flirting at its best, and that’s all it would likely stay at.
As she answered his question, he was a bit awestruck. He seemed to think he wasn’t that cookie-cutter boy, and that was exactly what she wanted. But that was too easy. She had to want more than just that, but she wasn’t letting on much else. When she mentioned she wanted someone who’s not afraid, he had to pipe up. “Someone who’s not afraid? Afraid of whom? You? I, for one, am not afraid of you. You could fill the entire castle with rumors and lies about me, and I still wouldn’t be afraid of you,” he said almost defiantly. “In fact, I see it more like this. I’m intrigued by your level of independence. You don’t care what others say, and that’s attractive to me.” He searched her eyes, listening as she then asked her next question. When she made mention of his brothers, he tensed a bit. He didn’t really care for talking about them, but it likely wouldn’t hurt to delve a bit into the Reid family life, would it? “Well, for the most part, it’s a matter of respect and care. Ever since my brothers were born, my parents seemed to give them so much more attention, and kind of left me out to fend for myself. Its part of the reason why I am the way I am today. A rebellious 16 year old, trying to make something out of my life, apart from my family. I can’t stand even going home sometimes, it’s too much,” he said truthfully. Jack realized he didn’t usually tell many people about all his home problems, but Juliet seemed to bring it out of him, in a good way.
As Jack waited for Juliet’s response to his answer, he had a hard time coming up with another question. The music in the pub had been turned up, and he could barely think much more. So he thought the best way to avoid it was to do something else. He looked Juliet in the eyes, and asked, “Juliet, do you want to get out of here? It’s getting a bit loud, and it’s a beautiful night, last I saw. We’ve been in this place long enough, don’t you think? Let’s walk back to Hogwarts together.” He stood up, ready to leave with her, if she wanted to.

Juliet took yet another sip of her drink. What could she say? She was a party girl at heart. It still surprised her that Jack wasn’t incredibly lame. For some reason, all Slytherin boys seemed like mini versions of their parents. It was annoying really. But Jack was different. Juliet had heard rumors about Jack but she wasn’t sure if his parents were the kind to set their son up. Really that was about the worst thing in the world. Josef would never do that to his ‘little princess’ thank goodness. Juliet sighed. Would she ever settle down? Was it even possible? Everyone who heard this question would say no, but Juliet wasn’t so sure. Deep down, she wanted to grow up, get married and have maybe one child or two. Really, she would rather adopt, but she hadn’t told anyone any of this. No one knew this about Juliet Moreau and she planned on keeping it that way.
Juliet eyed Jack and offered a smile. “Well, I’ll hold on to that information. Maybe it could be useful if I ever find a girl worthy enough for you.” She winked at him flirtingly. Really, she wouldn’t mind setting him up. After all Juliet would never admit to herself that she wanted to be with Jack. It was true really. No, not at all.. “It’s not that I don’t think I need one but do I really want to date the little prisses that are the Slytherin boys no offense.” She didn’t feel the need to add that Jack was different because she knew that he was. “Besides, despite what people think, I don’t have time for a boyfriend. I want to be a Healer.” She admitted. Everyone knew that this would take quite a bit of work. “Head Healer actually.” She smiled. If anyone could get her wish, surely it would be Juliet. She usually got whatever she wanted. But this time, she would work for it.
Juliet smiled. “Come now. You will find someone Jack Reid.” She told him half-heartedly. Well, she knew that he would find someone. After all, every Slytherins child’s life was pre-determined. Their parents had plans for them even if they weren’t carried out. Was pretty much written in stone that they would all get married one day. This was just the way their world went. No one could ever change it, it seemed. Juliet sighed. “You’re going after the wrong girls then. Look, most of the girls in our year and house only want a boyfriend to please their parents. Then some girls don’t want anyone at all and some just haven’t found the right person. You need to look for a girl in the third group.” Juliet herself didn’t fit one of these groups. She really fit all of them in different ways. Juliet eyed Jack and then yawned slightly. Why was she already getting tired? Oh well. She wouldn’t go to sleep anytime soon. No that would look weird for little Juliet.
Juliet smiled finally. And this wasn’t one of her sly smiles. It was a true smile. Jack’s words fascinated her. But, she would never admit that. She nodded. “You’re a good man Jack Reid.” She laughed. She didn’t have to say any more than that for the moment. “And I wouldn’t spread lies about you.” She told him. Jack had already made her list. This list contained the people that were worthy and worth Juliet’s time. Juliet knew he was worthy right from the beginning. She could just tell. “My independence scares most people. Most Slytherin boys want a girl who will impress their parents and do what they say. I think it’s clear to say that I am not this girl.” She nodded. Yep, that was true.
Juliet nodded. She understood slightly. Jack had been almost as abandoned as Juliet had been. Well, Juliet had just been left by her mother, but she still felt alone. “My mum is like that too.” For some reason she didn’t mind sharing this information with Jack even if it made her vulnerable. “My mum found a new family. She has new kids to tend to and give attention to and she can have them. Still, I was the one left out.” Juliet offered her smirk smile. “Maybe we are just rejects.” She wanted to laugh at the thought but she didn’t. “I know what you mean about not wanting to go home. I love my dad, but he works and he loves to talk about how I should visit my mum. As if.”
Juliet smiled and laid down her drink. She was already tired of the pub and tired in general. Besides, she wouldn’t mid walking back with Jack. “Let’s go.” She said standing up. The music was nearly giving her a headache now that the liquor was kicking in a bit more. Once they made it outside, Juliet looked to Jack. “So was that your question?” She asked smiling slightly. Juliet walked cautiously through the icy ground with her heals. It was pretty cold outside. “Because that was a sad question if their ever was one.” She laughed and then looked to Jack. It had been an interesting night that was for sure.

Jack chuckled as his demeanor seemed to change on impulse. When Juliet mentioned about hooking him up, he had to laugh. “I don’t think I need you to help me find love, Juliet,” he said quite plainly. “Besides, most of the women I’ve even remotely had an interest for have been intimidated by me. Apparently I’m too much of a rebel for many girls. I’m nearly to the point where I could care less anymore. Let them all have their shiny, meaningless relationships. If I’m going to be with someone, it’s going to be for the long haul, and someone who understands rebellion in the way that I do. I wonder, do you know anyone like that, Juliet Moreau?” He searched her eyes, looking for an answer before she would inevitably give one, but she seemed to be hiding her feelings from her eyes at the moment. As Juliet explained about most Slytherin boys, he had to nod in agreement. “None taken,” he slipped in, as she continued speaking. “Head Healer, eh? Wouldn’t have taken you to be one of those. You seemed just like the average witch, wanting your own way, and doing anything in your power to get it. But a healer sounds interesting, at least for you.”
He was listening more and more to the rumors in his mind that he had always heard about Juliet, yet at the same time, those words meant nothing. Here he was, talking with her and enjoying his time with her, while she could be out anywhere else, doing whatever she pleased. Yet and still, she was here with him. He liked that. Jack listened as she explain how he was going about things the wrong way, and the more she described, the more he felt she could fit into that spot, into that girl he wanted. But he wouldn’t tell her this yet. He caught her yawning a bit, and chuckled. “Well I saw that little yawn you stifled. Am I boring you that much?” He looked at her, as she finally seemed to really, genuinely, smile at him. It was slightly surprising, especially for Juliet. He loved listening to her, she was a joy to listen to, and it was fun to be surprised every once in a while by her words.
“I don’t mind your independence. In a way, it’s attractive. It makes you appealing, at least to me. I’ve always liked it when girls are independent of themselves. It means they won’t let the world or anyone else tell them what to do or think.” Jack wasn’t surprised by her comment about Slytherin boys, because for the most part, it was true. “Yeah, I would have to agree, most people want someone they can bring home, and their family is happy with. I, personally, could care less. If I’m happy, and she’s happy, that’s what’s matters to me. It’s clear, yes, that you are not that girl that I would take home to mommy. I like it, honestly.” Jack was impressed with himself, that he was saying all this. Was he trying to seduce her? Of course not. He never did that with women. So if it wasn’t seduction, did that make it truthful feelings? It was an interesting turn of events.
As he listened to Juliet explain about her home life, he felt a sense of compassion for her. Her mother had abandoned her. It was a little like his family, except that with his situation, his father had given up on the family, cheating on his poor mother, and leaving her to go crazy like she did, not long ago. Had it been a year now? Jack couldn’t bear to think about it without getting angry. He pushed it from his mind, without another thought. “Well,” he said slyly. “We could just be rejects together, then. Sound good?” he said with a laugh. She made fun of his sad question, as they walked outside of the pub. “No, that wasn’t my question. I’ll try and think of one.” They walked for a bit, in the icy cold weather. Silence enveloped them, but it wasn’t an awkward feeling, at least for him. As they approached a patch of ice, he took her hand, steadying her while she walked in her heels. “Believe me; you don’t want to fall on the ice out here. It hurts pretty badly; I’ve done it numerous times. I’m a klutz every once in a while.” As he searched his mind, he couldn’t come up with a good question, so he passed. “Well I give up. I can’t come up with a good question. Why don’t you ask me something? Maybe that will trigger something in my mind.” Jack didn’t want to remove his hand from hers, but he did anyway, just to be polite. It was interesting, the side of him she was pulling out. He had let his guard down, for the most part, and he wasn’t suffering for it yet.

Juliet eyed Jack. She would never admit that she liked him. She wouldn’t right? No, she couldn’t. Well at least Juliet was telling herself this. After all, Juliet had only started to talk to Jack tonight. Besides, Juliet had thick skin. She could lie and act tough with the best of them. That was much easier than acting weak. No, Juliet wasn’t good at the weak thing. The only weak point in her life was her pre-mum’s secret family years. But, when her mom made that big announcement, Juliet changed. For the better she thought, but not many people would agree. Juliet was cute and sweet during the first half of her first year. However, people learned that this had changed when she returned to school that January. Juliet had burned all of the lavender dresses she loves so much and they were replaced by short black skirts and slinky silver tops. Her hair was no longer worn in neat ringlets or braids. She wore her messy yet completely gorgeous hair flow beyond her shoulder. Boys swooned but backed away when they learned that she was a first year. Little Juliet had changed forever on the inside and out.
“Fine, fine.” Juliet said flicking her hand out in the air for a brief moment. She gave out a little laugh. “I’m sure you can find it on your own. Just stay away from those wed or dye types, okay?” She laughed a bit again. It was strange to think that there were really girls like that in her house, but Juliet knew it was true. Crazy really. Juliet would never get married. Well, she would never let anyone tell her that she had to. That wasn’t the kind of girl Juliet was. Juliet suppressed the flirty eyes that she was so good at giving out. “Intimidated by you? Poor Jack-Jack.” Okay so maybe that was the alcohol speaking, but that was rather clear. She laughed again, unable to help herself. “Now, now. Don’t call it rebellion. That makes it seem so un-cool. Call it, hmm, A Different Direction.” Yep the alcohol really was talking, but she was far away from being ill. She was just saying things that she would normally keep to herself. Juliet blinked at Jack’s next comment. “Hmm, I might know someone.” But, she didn’t say anymore. What could she say? Juliet was a flirt.
“Average?” She raised an eye-brow. “Let’s just say that I know what I want.” She said nodding. This was certainly true. “This is what I want.” Well, it was what she convinced herself that she wanted. But then again, her mother had convinced her that she wanted to model and a part of her still did. But Juliet could never say that out loud. Juliet shook her head. “It’s been a long week.” She offered with a little smile. That was true. Juliet had barely completed all of her work, but she managed it. Juliet nodded when Jack talked about her independence. “Well that’s I guess.” She said nodding. “I spent most of my life listening to what my parents wanted. So I guess when they fell apart, so did my ‘Perfect Daughter’ gene. I guess that’s when I figured out that I just wanted to be me.” Still, parts of Juliet’s life were a lie, but that was far too complicated for even Juliet to think about.
Juliet laughed. “Yea, I think your mummy feels the same way.” No mother wanted Juliet in her son’s arms. Or at least Juliet thought this but it was probably true. The Moreaus had a history in the elite Wizarding World. If a pure-blood knew anything about the Moreaus, they knew that Josephine was “friendly” and that Josef was alone and kept to his work. They knew that Juliet was a head-case and that she could handle her fair share of parties. On this information alone, no mother would want Juliet in their family not that Juliet cared much.
Juliet nodded slightly when Jack said that they could be rejects together. “Sounds good actually.” She said finally. They walked out of the pub and Juliet eyed Jack to see if he could come up with another question. Juliet smiled as Jack took her hand. She knew that he was just helping her out, but she liked the feeling of his skin or hers. She just did. “A klutz huh? I’ll add that to my list.” Juliet’s list was a list of random facts about random people. Weird yes, but so was Juliet in a way. Juliet laughed when Jack couldn’t come up with a question. “Baby.” She teased. She looked him in the eye. They were still holding hands. “Do you think I’m anything more than a pretty face?” It was a serious question. It said a lot about Juliet that even she didn’t know. It said a lot about her heart. Juliet didn’t take her eyes off Jack. She stood in place waiting for his answer.

Jack was thoroughly enjoying himself. A beautiful night, with a beautiful woman he had just met, and there seemed to be no end in sight, at least for a while. He laughed and joked with her as it was obvious that the excess of drink she had had was affecting her. A few of her words seemed to blur, but she kept in good motion. As she began to explain a brief bit about her life, Jack was surprised. Juliet, as far as what he knew about her, was not the kind of person to explain part of her family life, especially with someone she had just met. But it meant something else. It seemed to mean that she trusted Jack. But could Juliet be trusting him this quick? Or was it the alcohol? It was hard to tell. But Jack decided to play along with it, just in case it was truth.
“It really doesn’t matter to me at all what my mother or anyone else thinks,” he began with, in response to her comment about his mother. They were still walking over the ice, so he held onto her hand for a while longer. “If I like someone, or care about them, that’s what matters to me. My parents have basically given me free run of my life, not really caring about what I do. So I’m going to embrace it.” Jack really liked Juliet, at least from this first meeting. She was independent, a force to be reckoned with, and she would get what she wanted, no matter what it was. He admired her for that. He would no longer let his family keep control over him. Jack liked Juliet, but he wanted to get her to a point where she was sober, so that they could actually really talk about it. Now was likely not the right time.
She looked into his eyes, called him “baby”, and asked him a serious yet extremely flirty question. “Do you think I’m anything more than a pretty face?” she asked him, still searching his eyes for an answer. Jack’s mind flew. She was staring…no, gazing…into his eyes, wanting him to give her the answer she wanted to hear. He could barely think, much less take his eyes off the beautifully attractive woman in front of him, still holding his hand. Jack looked down at their hands, together. He took her free hand with his, held them both. “I think,” he started. “That you are an attractive woman, that knows exactly what she wants and how to get it. I think you’re beautiful inside and out. You may be rebellious, but its just because you love doing things your way. You’re so much more than just a pretty face, Juliet. You’re…you. The only one that can do it the way you do.”
Jack never took his eyes off her, and pulled her hands closer to him. “Come on, there’s a bit more ice up here before we get to the castle. I don’t want you to fall, especially with how much you’ve had to drink tonight.” He chuckled at this, winking at her. The two of them were on a complete sheet of ice now, and her heels were slipping, but Jack made sure he had the girl in his arms. “What would you like to do when we get back to the castle? I’ve got a load of homework I should be doing, but I can put it off if you’d like.” Jack didn’t want the night to end, but he knew it must, at least eventually.

Juliet almost had a smile on her face as she walked. She wasn’t sure if it was the drinks or if she was really having a good time with Jack. Really, Juliet would only remember in the morning if she remembered the night at all. But seeing as she wasn’t overly drunk, she probably would. Juliet head was spinning a bit, but she could handle it fine. She was walking almost normally and her words weren’t unpronounceable. Juliet looked at Jack as he spoke. Never in a million years did she think that she would be with Jack Reid one Saturday night. But, Juliet wasn’t one for normally. She didn’t care what was normal or what was unthinkable. Juliet wasn’t any of these things. Actually, she was probably the exact opposite. And this was only because that was how Juliet wanted to be. She didn’t want to be like anyone else. Not her mum, her dad, her step-brother, and step-sisters. She wanted to be as far from them as possible. She didn’t care who she was. Juliet only cared that she wasn’t like anyone else.
Juliet nodded at what Jack said. “Yea. I would say the same thing, but I dunno..” Yep, maybe she was saying too much. But she couldn’t help it. “My dad expects a lot. I can’t just drown his opinions out. He’s be there for me for too long. I guess his opinion matters.” Juliet felt comfortable telling this to Jack. If anyone else heard it, part of her image would be destroyed, but for the moment, Juliet could care less. Juliet wouldn’t lie about this. Her dad meant a lot to her. He was a big part of her world. Her dad had cared for her the years followed her mums leaving. Her dad was there for her when her mum wasn’t. She needed him and yet she wished that she didn’t. Juliet wanted to be on her on. She wanted to be that rebel girl. But she couldn’t always. Sometimes, she simple had to be daddy’s little girl.
Juliet stared into Jack’s eyes as she waited to hear the answer to his question. Wait. Did she really just ask that? Seriously? So, maybe this wasn’t the drinks talking. Maybe this time it really was Juliet speaking her mind. Juliet smiled genuinely. She sort of felt like she wanted to felt. Wait. She liked him! Yea she did even if she wanted it to go away. She couldn’t deny the truth even if she wanted to. Juliet stared at him blankly. She couldn’t mind any words to say for once. She was silent and still. No one had ever said those words to Juliet and she was glad that it took until now. Because Juliet was sure that it wouldn’t sound the same if anyone but Jack said them. It just wouldn’t be the same.
Juliet smiled as Jack pulled her hands closer to him. Juliet looked to her feet. They were completely standing over ice. She didn’t care. Actually, she barely noticed. Her head was starting to throb, but she just felt giddy. His words (and the drinks of course) made her feel like that little kid in her that had faded at the age of eleven. She shook her head playfully. “I haven’t had that much.” She said in a kid-like tone. “And put it off. Homework won’t help you in the real world.” She said without thinking. Juliet then finally let go on Jack’s hands and started to somewhat glide on the ice in her boots. They had a slippery surface, but she didn’t notice. His words had meant something to her and now, she just wanted to run the feeling off. She wanted to keep it going or get it to go away. She wasn’t sure which one, but she wanted one of the two to occur. “C’mon!” She called to Jack. She had completely forgotten that she was standing on thick ice. “I bet I can beat you to the castle!” She called out like a child before she started to run. All her fears and thoughts seemed to slip away as she ran. She smiled to look back at Jack when her heal slipped. She fell. She fell fast and hard. She didn’t have time to say a thing. Before she knew it, she was unconscious with her body on the ice. Her head had hit the surface. Juliet’s wild night was officially over.
