Summer time. Normally not a time when Madeline was bored. Except her muggle friends were in school at the moment and so she had absolutely nothing to do. She had begged her father to bring her into Diagon Alley for a day of shopping with her parents money so that she might see a couple of people she knew. Smiling at the groups of people passing by just to be polite Madeline straightened the top of her [summer time] sun dress and then walked one of the café’s down the alley, slinging her purse back and forth out of habit. Grinning as she saw a group of what looked like fifth year boys walked by her table and out the door Madeline felt a rush of excitement she got when she saw someone who she thought was good looking or anything like that. Looking in her purse[bag] Madeline pulled out some sickles and knuts and headed over to a table to wait for a waitress to come by and take her order of a large butter beer and blueberry muffin. Smiling at her waitress she did all of this and then glanced around for familiar faces. She ended up sending a few waves but sadly saw no one she knew that she actually thought of as a close friend.
Smiling again as her waitress brought over her order of a drink and some food she wondered whether or not she would see anyone she knew or liked or anything at all. Life seemed to be flying by much to quickly for Madeline’s taste and for some odd reason no one other than Madeline and her family were in the scenes. Having seen none of her friends so far this summer, not even her muggle friends who were all performing summer jobs with their families and things because their lives weren’t so easily prepared as those more magical ones like Madeline herself who had magic to do pretty much everything except when she was at home, and even then her mother and father got her whatever she needed while she and her grandfather either couldn’t or weren’t aloud to perform any magic.

Pagan stepped into a small cafe in Diagon Alley to get a drink and try and avoid her parents who were more annoying than usual this holiday break. She looked around as she sat down at a small table and noticed that not many Slytherin's from school were in the cafe. She looked around and saw that in the next table over was a Ravenclaw girl from her year wearing a bright summery dress which made Pagan look down at her own clothes which contrasted hugely with the girl. Pagan's clothes consisted of a pair of black pants, a black shirt with the words "Do you hear that? It's the sound of noone caring" written on the front in bright red and her usual witch robe with the Slytherin logo on it. Sha tapped her fingers on the table and stared at the cieling impatiently just before a waitress finally turned up at her table. "What can I get you?" the young girl asked in an overly cheerful voice which really grated on Pagan's nerves. "Butterbeer" Pagan answered quickly, "And a pumkin pastry" "Is that all?" she asked her voice rising slightly. "Yeah" Pagan nodded raising an eyebrow at the waitress who quickly disappeared. Pagan rolled her eyes and snorted before noticing the Ravenclaw girl was now looking at her.

Ary looked through her bag full with previous shopping and looked through it proudly. A pack of Marvin's magic Mallows, Destra's flavoured inkit, scrolls of parchment and odds and ends. She sat down at the end of the room and asked for a pumpkin pie and a light beer. The waitress looked her up and down. "Old enough for that, are we?" She smiled obnoxiously. Ary felt her eyes roll, but she wasn't going to let her day ruin. "Make it a hot chocolate." She huffed. She sat back and observed the cosy cafe.
"Is that all?" The young waitress asked in a shrill voice. Ary looked around. Wasn't that Mason, that Slytherin girl? Pagan nodded calmly "Yeah." The other woman looked rather uncomfortable and hurried off. The Slytherin looked round at a girl who had been looking at her. Wasn't that Finn from her year? Madeline was in Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff or something like that. She wasn't too bad, but if any other girl had been sitting in Pagan's seat, Ary would have gone over to them.
Arywiel remembered the night in the courtyard with Kody and Pagan. She shook her head to herself in disbelief. Hopefully somebody from her house would walk in soon. The woman returned with a juicy looking pastry and a hot chocolate with a spoon mixing it on its own. Ary thanked her gruffly and shovelled the food into her mouth. The warm, sticky sweetness made her mouth go numb. "Mmmm." She murmured aloud.

Pagan stretched her boot clad feet out on front of her and stretched her black arm warmer covered arms above her head once the waitress had left. She had no idea why the waitress would be scared of her, sure she wasn't the nicest person around to those she didn't know or had no intention of knowing but she still was only a 13 year old girl. The waitress came back and quickly dumped Pagan's food and drink in front of her before scurring away like the young Slytherin was about to use an unforgivable on her. Which, Pagan thought to herself with a sardonic smile, didn't sound like such a bad idea considering how much the waitresses actions were bugging her. She hated it when people backed down so quickly, it was something she found weak and Pagan hated weakness. That was the Slytherin coming out in her. She took a bite of her pastry and looked around the shop again. This time she smiled, a smile mixed between amusement and the sardonic need to beat the person into the nearest pole, when she saw Arywien Coone a Gryffindor third year she'd gotten into a mild fight with the previous term. The girl had interrupted a conversation between Pagan and another Gryffindor, Kody something, which was another one of Pagan's pet peeves, she despised being interrupted.

Ary shoveled more pastry into her mouth. The warmness flowed to the pit of her stomach. She felt a pair of eyes on her. Pagan had seen her and was smiling a savage smile. Arywiel looked away quickly, trying to keep her eyes on her pie. She felt the blood rush to her cheeks as she tried to think about her recent shopping. She had found a revealer, a red eraser-like thing that revealed invisible ink. Ary tried hard to think about the other magical objects she had seen. What about the Post office? Ary concentrated on the different owls she had seen there. She felt her face screw up in concentration, so she relaxed it, lest Pagan would see. The last thing she wanted was for that pompous twit to strut over to her table. There had been a large barn owl with red eyes, tens of little ones the size of her palm, what did the list on the post office door say? Arywiel tried in vain to remember the price for a first class package, dimension class B to fly to Transilvania. Had it been three Galleons? No, it couldn't have been. Three Galleons was for dimension class C...
Arywiel realised that she had forgotten her pie, so she spooned in another mouthful. Abandoning the attempt to concentrate on the Post office, her mind flitted to Quidditch. How long would it be again before she was on her broom? She was a reserve player, but would she make the Chaser spot? Arywiel dared a glance at Pagan again. They caught each others' gaze and Ary narrowed her eyes.

Pagan smirked to herself as the Gryffindor, Coone, caught her eye and then quickly looked away. Pagan knew she was just trying to avoid a confrontation even though it was undoubtable innevitable. Did she really think a bored Slytherin sitting all on her own in some random cafe was going to just sit there and twiddle their thumbs? Knowing Gryffindor's Pagan knew that's what Coone had hoped. Vain hoped but she got brownie points for optimism, Pagan thought. She watched as Coone tried to distract herself, her face scrunching up in concentration at one point making Pagan chuckle quietly, barely audibly, before Coone finally tried to relax and take a bite of her pie. Unfortunately for Coone she made the fatal mistake of catching Pagan's eye again and an even bigger mistake by narrowing her eyes into what Pagan assumed was the standard Gryffindor-to-Slytherin glare; she'd gotten it from several other Gryffindors. Pagan grinned to herself again and without taking her own eyes from Coone she finished off her drink before standing up and trudging over to the 13 year old arch-enemy. Anyone in Gryffindor was her arch enemy, especially after a recent fight with some idiot Gryffindor, Charisma Turner or something like. Pagan had enjoyed that fight, don't get her wrong, and the other Gryffindor's pitiful insults and sad attempts at being tough had amused Pagan to no end; but she still felt that it was unfinished business. Same went for Coone, the girl had made the mistake of trying to tell Pagan what to do and had nicked off before Pagan had had the chance to have a true go at her, but that was definately about to change. "Hello, Croone isn't it?" Pagan asked in a mock cheerful as she pulled out a chair roughly and sat down, a grin firmly planted on her face. If there was one thing Pagan was good at it was making people uncomfortable and hiding her true emotions.

Ary nearly choked on her last mouthful of pie as Pagan sat down at her table. Eyes watering, she tried to say something, but all that came out was a croak. She slammed her fist into her chest and unblocked her throat, leaving her coughing and spluttering. She decided not to reply to Pagans remarks after that. She was done eating, by the way, so she would get up and leave. She gulped down the rest of her hot chocolate quickly, making the back of her throat blister. This obviously wasn't a great day for her. She caught the waitress's attention to pay for the pastry and hot chocolate. The woman was bustling about busily, so she would presumably come to Ary's table with the bill in five minutes. Untill then, Arywiel had to put up with Pagan Mason. She finally turned to the Slytherin and looked her up and down, scanning for a flaw to get her for. She realised how delayed her comeback would be, so she just scowled across the table at that horrible girl. ((sorry its short- not much time ))

“How very loquacious of you” Pagan said through her laughing she would have hated that to of been her, probably one of the reasons she never talked to people while eating, but now that it was a snotty little Gryffindor Pagan was about ready to explode with laughter. Sure she’d expected some sort of response but an insult, rude comment about her hair, hell she would have even settled for a hex or curse but to choke herself? That was downright hilarious and a moment Pagan would cherish forever.
What made the moment even more priceless was when Coone glared at Pagan rather than give her a biting retort. This was so far the best moment of the young Slytherin’s life. Even better than the time that Gryffindor compared her to Medusa in the library once. I mean seriously Medusa? What a lame insult. But this one definitely beat that one.
“Swallowed your food now Croon?” Pagan asked specifically getting the girls name wrong even though she knew what it really was. She just really wanted to get on this girls nerves and hopefully get her to throw some curses. An extra ear would totally be worth it.
