Kyra held her legs to her chest as she stared out the window of the guestroom of Chloe’s cottage. Her recovery was well on its way. Well, the physical healing was done. Her scars were fading slowly and Kyra was no longer so weak and fragile. The doctors also didn’t expect for her to have another seizure any time soon. She had gone back to school as well. Teachers even told her that she was going to pass the year which was amazing since for two months she hadn’t attended classes before the whole incident in the girl’s bathroom. Kyra was only at Chloe’s for the weekends now so she could attend counseling. Kyra eyed the lights flickering about the village. Even though she was doing much better, Kyra still felt so distant, so alone. It wasn’t exactly a secret that she didn’t have any friends. Now that Layne was gone, Kyra’s only real companions were Chloe and Security, Chloe’s horse. Why was it that she had never even tried to make friends? Oh well. It was too late for that, right? Kyra was pretty sure that a great deal of the school new about her situation now. She had quickly gone from the loner girl to the cutter girl. Did she like it? No way, but she tolerated it. After all, she just wanted to get through her last two years and then she would be done with Hogwarts once and for all.
“Kyra?” Chloe asked with a sense of panic in he voice as she ventured into the night to find her niece. “Kyra? She said finding Kyra’s shadow. Get inside now.” She said pulling Kyra in. Kyra stumbled alone with Chloe’s movement of her, but she didn’t say a word. After all, it was Chloe. After Kyra entered the doorway, Chloe closed it shut, locked it, and then took out her wand and magically sealed it up. “What are you doing?” Kyra asked finally. Chloe shook her head eyeing Kyra in terror. “He’s back.” She said simply. It didn’t matter; Kyra knew exactly who she was talking about. “What? Why?” Kyra stuttered. Chloe shook her head. “No clue, but we have to get you out of here. You know exactly what he wants. He gave you months to suffer without your mum and Layne. Now he wants you.” Kyra stared blankly with wide eyes. She nodded. “Yea.” She said simply. “How do you know?” She asked. “Clover Mently saw him in the woods by the shrieking shack earlier. She explained. “Mum and Layne?” She asked hoarsely. Chloe shook her head. “No, not as far as I know. Just Blade.” She managed to say. Kyra nodded. “Give me five minutes she said walking down the hall. Chloe nodded and headed for her room.
Kyra wore a black hoodie and her jeans as she held on tightly to Chloe’s hand. She didn’t know where they were going or what they were going to do, but anything was better than waiting back for Blade to find her. Kyra had to get as far away from him as possible no matter what. Was she scared? Of course she was. She was leaving, going god knows where and for what? To escape Blade? Why escape him when she could fight him? Why run when she could tear him down. Kyra finally realized it. She reached and pulled her wand from her pocket. Then, she grabbed her black cloak from the hanger on the wall. Chloe walked in the room as she pulled on her pink sweatshirt. “What are you doing?” Chloe asked eyeing Kyra. “Finishing this. I have to deal with it.” She said walking for the door. “Kyra no!” Chloe called running for her niece. “He’ll kill you.” She said with a tear streaking her face. “Well, when he does he’ll be done. Cause I’m the only other one Blade wants to hurt. When I’m gone, so will his will to live.” She said simply with a look of bravery in her eyes. Kyra then eyed Chloe and headed for the door. She had never done anything this brave, stubborn, and stupid in her entire life. It was about time.
Kyra made her way to the Shrieking Shack. She wasn’t exactly sure what she was going to do yet. After all, she was just one kid. One kid with a history of cutting, fainting, and seizures. How was she supposed to stop some one as strong as Blade? After all, he had hurt her many times before. He had even taken away her mother and sister. How was Kyra supposed to stop him? She was fifteen years old for heaven’s sake. How could she even begin to stop Blade? What was she thinking? She was thinking of getting out. Getting her mum, Layne, and Chloe out. And this was the only way that she knew of. As Kyra approached the woods she took a deep breath. She heard some rustling, buy she didn’t shudder. She took a few steps closer. “Blade.” She started. “I know you’re here. So, quit running from what you want and face me.” She said placing her wand in front of her face. More rustling. Kyra stepped closer. “Blade..” she said getting agitated. Suddenly a face came from the brush. Slowly, Kyra began to make out the figure. “Kyra..” Someone said in a little voice. Seeing who it was, Kyra ran over in tears. “Layne..”
