“If we were a movie You'd be the right guy And I'd be the best friend That you'd fall in love with In the end We'd be laughin' Watchin' the sunset Fade to black Show the names Play the happy song”
Casey finished strumming the notes on her guitar. She looked at the instrument for a second. Casey didn’t know how to play it, really or at least she couldn’t play it like an expert. She only knew a few cords that her dad had taught her so she could practice at school. Really, practicing had been all Casey had done lately. School hadn’t really been her friend. Well, she wasn’t trying all too hard in her classes. That was her fault of course. But, it was hard to focus since she was distracted. A lot of things were distracting Casey. For one thing, the Ezzie and Ethan break-up had been a big mess. And Casey and Carson were caught right in the middle of it all. What were they supposed to do? Could they even be friends when their best-friends hated each other? That whole situation was complicated, but now Casey had a more complicated situation to handle as well. Carson McGreggor had just become Eden Sweden’s new guitarist. Casey couldn’t help it really. He was the best guitarist at the auditions. She would just have to hide Eden’s real identity from him. It couldn’t be that hard, right? Casey knew she was making excuses, but she didn’t care much. She would focus on school when she could do it without screaming. This couldn’t be good in the long run, but Casey wasn’t too concerned about that. Casey pushed her guitar away. She needed to stop practicing. Those stupid lyrics were getting on her last nerves. So with that thought, Casey grabbed a notepad and some other things and stuffed them in her purple bag. She didn’t like those lyrics, so she would write some new ones. Her dad did it all the time, so it couldn’t be too hard, right? Casey didn’t write many of Eden’s songs. She wasn’t too great at it, but she had written one that had been a hit, “Just Like You.” Casey sighed. It was time to write another hit. She needed something to get her mind off of life. Really, she needed to focus on school-work, but she wouldn’t. An hour later, Casey was hard at work on a new song in the Student Lounge. Kinda. Sorta. Actually, not really. She had ten pages of scribbled-out songs. None of them worked. Not a one. Well, what was she supposed to write about? Best-friends and their break-ups up or keeping the biggest secret you’ve ever kept from the boy you like? Nope, neither of them seemed like hits. Actually, Casey was so warn out from not writing much of anything that she was basically asleep with her head down on the table. Well, she was tired. That was another thing that Casey could happily blame on someone else, but she wouldn’t. She was practically sound asleep until someone said something to her. “Huh?” Casey bolted up right. Her eyes nearly bugged out. “Oh, sorry.” She said for no particular reason. Well, there were crumpled up songs every where. “I usually don’t fall asleep in the middle of writing, but there all horrible.” She said as she opened a crumbled-up song and re-read it. Casey shook her head, crumbled it up, and threw it on the ground. “Yea, still horrible.” She exclaimed as she put her hands on her head. She had nothing. Casey eyed the horrible songs around her, before sighing. Maybe she just needed to clear her head. Maybe that was all that she needed.

Ingrid ran her fingers through her blonde hair as she lounged about the Hufflepuff common room, completely and utterly bored. It was how she spent most of her days now-a-days. Aaron wasn’t avoiding her anymore, but he wasn’t with her 24/7 either. Sita was off with Harmony or Gavin a lot of the time and Ingrid had made at least twenty mental notes to get time to hang out with her best friend. Now, however, Ingrid was alone in the common room –like usual – and doing absolutely nothing. She was sitting upside down in an armchair, her head brushing against the carpet, but that could hardly qualify as something. She liked sitting upside down at times because it made the blood rush to her head and oddly enough she thought clearer when she did that. Ingrid was an odd person, that was a given, but no one really saw her oddity like they used to. Ingrid was much more subdued than she had been in first year, but she much happier than she was in her second and third year. Her fourth year was going to be her year, she could feel it…if she could find something to occupy her empty time with that is. So, she sat, her head against the ground and her feet up in the air as she thought about what she could spend her afternoon doing.
Finally, after about ten more minutes, Ingrid became rather agitated with the fact that she was still in the common room, and so she rolled over backward off the armchair and landed on her knees, facing the chair she had just rolled off. Ingrid stood from the floor, straightened her plaid skirt and blazer, and then started out of the common room. She had decided to go to the Student Lounge, perhaps there she’d run into someone who wouldn’t mind having a conversation with her. Ingrid felt like that first year again, eager for attention. She wasn’t eager for attention, she was just…eager for company. If she spent one more minute alone she’d go insane! No matter, Ingrid reached the Student Lounge and pushed open the door. There weren’t many people in there, actually she could only count about four, but they all were in the years above her and the only older year Ingrid knew was Lenora, Aaron’s sister. Lenora wasn’t in there, though, Ingrid did recognize Casey Allen – a Gryffindor in the same year, and so she made her way over to the fourth year Gryff. It wasn’t until she was about a foot away that she realized Casey was sleeping. Ingrid watched for a moment and then chuckled before sitting opposite Casey and looking around at all the crumpled up pieces of paper. She wondered what was written on them, but she wouldn’t read them without Casey’s permission.
“Casey…?” Ingrid leaned forward a little and was about to tap Casey on the head when the girl seemed to jump awake and realize that she wasn’t alone. Ingrid only smiled brightly when Casey apologized, assuming it was for the mess of papers, but Ingrid didn’t mind – not really. It wasn’t like she had anything to do anyway. When Casey picked up a piece of parchment and read it, Ingrid tilted her head, “Oh, come on, they can’t be that bad. What are they anyway?” She eyed the pieces of paper, picked up and nodded to it, “Can I look at it? Maybe I can help… I’m great with writing…anything, really.”

Casey yawned a bit after the stunned look faded from her face. At that moment, Joel would probably call her over-dramatic when he saw that face she had made, but she wasn’t. Not really. Who was she kidding? She sort of was. But, Casey would never admit that. Nope, Joel was never right or at least that was what she had told him since she was five. But, back in those days, he would ignore her and stick his tongue out at her. My how things hadn’t changed much. Casey flashed an awkward smile at Ingrid. Casey knew her from classes and things of course. But, it wasn’t very common that Casey got to make herself look rather silly in front of a classmate. Okay, so maybe that was a lie. Casey often did have a clumsy nature, but Casey simply argued that she had been born like that. Impossible? Probably it wasn’t like Casey knew such things. Nope, she was the singer not the girl with book smarts and that was the way it would always be. Or at least Joel told her so. But as said before, Joel was never right.
“Hey Ingrid.” She said after she took a second to get the blurriness out of her eyes. “You know I’ve never actually slept in the Student Lounge before, but I do have to say that it is much more comfortable that sleeping in the Common Room.” She smiled a bit. That was only because she often fell asleep in the Common Room on the floor. Well, she liked to study there and that usually lulled her to sleep. Silly Casey. What? Homework was boring or at least to her it was. How Casey had made it through the years without the need of a tutor or someone to help her was amazing. She was rather gifted with her wand, but not with her coursework.
Casey eyed Ingrid. Well, she couldn’t tell her much of course, but she could say something. “Songs. I write them from time to time. I’m okay, but I’ve only written one I’ve actually liked.” Well, that the country actually like. But, she had to leave that tid-bit out of course. “Just Like You” was perhaps the most popular song of Eden’s besides The Best of Both Worlds, but Bradley had written that one. “Feel free.” Casey told her about the songs. Casey smiled. “A writer, you might just be the person a need.” She laughed. “I like writing songs, but I over think it I guess.” She sighed. “I dunno, pressure gets to me.” Would she be able to explain that? Probably not. But, Casey now knew how to talk her way out of situations so she wasn’t too concerned about it. “I remember when I used to write things just for fun and they were good, but now I guess the fun has faded.” Yep, another that she couldn’t explain. What could she say? Casey was a blabber-mouth. She always had been. Casey eyed Ingrid, waiting for her to respond.
