Rosen adjusted her position in her chair. She had seated herself a while ago at one of the many tables in the students lounge. Her work had not taken her to terribly long though, and so now she sat restless. Making a small face she looked down at her paper, she was so distracted she hadn't even noticed she had been doodling on one of her papers! Music notes danced around the boarders of a parchment sheet covered in her tiny, yet neat, handwriting. "Bravo, bravo, can't really scratch them out that'd make it look worse..." Rolling her eyes at her own absentmindedness she bunched her hand around her quill resting her hand against the fist as she looked down. "Maybe I should have set the quill down before I daydreamed?"
Tossing the quill to lay beside the papers she leaned back in her chair, uncrossing her legs, which seemed to fit perfectly in the seat. Hoping no one saw her having a dialog with herself.

Pagan sat in a chair in a secluded corner of the student lounge with a magazine in her hands open to a random page she wasn't really paying attention to. She looked up and smirked to herself when she saw a girl on the other side of the room muttering to herself and staring at a paper. She stood up and walked over to the girl, something unusual compelling her to talk to the girl even if she was from another house. "Interesting conversation?" Pagan asked raising an eyebrow at the girl.

Ary bent over her book, tracing each word with her finger. Magical Beasts and were to find them She tried to ignore the strange looking Ravenclaw girl talking to herself at the next table. Finally a sneery Slytherin strode over to her, leaning on her table. She muttered something, and Ary rolled her eyes at her snickering tone. She was sick of being pushed in the hallways by those type of girls. She huffed. "Why is being at school so much like being at war?" She muttered to herself. Ary slammed her book shut and pulled out another one. Pride and prejudice by Jane Austen She opened it on page 148 and started reading, using her finger to trace each word again.

Kody headed toward the student lounge, ready to read up on some history for a few of his classes. Some of his professors had assigned the same few books, so he figured he could start with one, and work his way through each. He took a look at the paper he had been given, from his last class. Magical Beasts and Where to Find Them. Sounds...intriguing. Wonder if it's being used. He made his way through the somewhat busy area of the lounge, looking for people from his class that might have already found the book. He spotted a few girls from his class, but wasn't sure if they had the book. They seemed to be more interested in talking about the latest fashion for Gryffindor girls. Oh joy, he thought. Who knows what the next fad will be. I just hope it doesn't have to do with any snake-hats, like last year.
He worked his way over to a nearby table, and sat down near a girl who was deep into her own book. He glanced over, trying to read the name of it. Pride and Prejudice. Not one he would probably ever read, but he had heard that the author was quite good. He took a look at the other books around her, and spotted the one he had been looking for. Kody wasn't sure if he should interrupt the girl, as she seemed to be diligently reading. Finally he got up enough nerve, and whispered, "Excuse me. I'm sorry for bothering you, but I was wondering if that monster book was yours, and if you were using it at the moment."
He hoped she wouldn't be too upset at him for interrupting her reading. After all, it was just a simple book.

Ary looked up, slightly lost from having been so involved in her book. She looked at the boy. "Oh, hello... aren't you in my year?" she asked thickly. "Could I borrow your book?" the boy repeated his request eagerly. "Wha- this one?" Ary motioned at the novel on her lap. The boy shook his head and pointed at the book on her table, Magical beasts and where to find them. "Oh, yeah... yes, you can. It's really interesting!" said Arywiel. "My name is Arywiel, by the way. And yours?" she asked.

Kody was relieved that the girl, Arywiel, as he had heard it, was willing to give up her book for a while. He was quite interested in the topic, that of magical beasts, but he hoped to never have to deal with any. As he opened her book, looking for the few chapters he had been assigned to read, the girl asked if he was in her year. Judging by her robes, he knew she was a Gryffindor, but wasn't sure if they were the same year. "You're in Gryffindor, right? I'm third year. Haven't met a lot of people yet, particularly from my year even. My name's Kody. Kody Leuchten."
He was happy that she had decided to open up a bit. Kody wondered if she had heard the conversation between the girls over in the corner, like he had. Those silly girls and their fashion talk. "Hey, did you hear about all those new clothes the girls are working on? It's so silly. Why would you worry about fashion in Hogwarts? It's such a trivial thing. I'm much more interested in these magical beasts. What do you think?"

Ary looked at Kody. "Third year too!" she grinned. Arywiel remembered vaguely a group of giggling girls discussing clothes or something. "Oh, don't mind them. They used to make fun of me last year, but they're just silly. Why bother? I mean we have school uniforms anyway." She said. It was quite pleasing to have somebody to talk to, as she felt quite alone and intimidated by all the older strangers in the lounge. "And those girls over there," Ary pointed at the Slytherin and Ravenclaw, "Forever sneering and humiliating. I would say that to be honest, some students aren't much better than magical beasts." Pleased with herself, Arywiel turned back to her book.

Kody grinned when she exclaimed that she was a third year as well. It was always good to meet someone from the same year. That meant you could talk about almost everything, because you both went through it. He wondered why he hadn't met her before. Oh well, no use in mulling over the mundane. He chuckled at her. "Yes, I think there are a few students here that I'd much rather take a magical beast over than them. But not all of them are bad, you know. I mean, take me for example. I came over and I'm nice to you, and I don't even know you yet! I guess that's just how our house is, right? At least to a point. I, for one, always look for the best in people. Not to sound arrogant, but it's just the way I am."
He worried that he might be interrupting her reading, so he asked about it. "Am I bothering you by sitting here talking? Would you like me to leave so you can get back to your book? It's nice to have someone to talk to sometimes. I'm sure you know that."

Ary beamed. He wasn't really arrogant, in fact, he seemed quite nice. Finally she had found a friendly student in her year. "No, it's quite amusing to have somebody to talk to." she shrugged. Just then a bunch of Ravenclaw girls crowded past. "OOH! Cooney loves Kody!" they shrieked. Arywiel reddened. "Perfect example of the specimen mentioned before." she muttered to Kody. "I can't read over all this hooting. I'm off to the liberary. Do you want to join me?" she said casually.

As they briefly talked, Kody sensed that Arwiel had a lot going on inside her mind. He knew she wouldn't tell him much, especially with the fact they had just met being fresh in their minds. But she was nice, and he was nice, and it worked out. Some Ravenclaw girls walked by, gawking and shrieking at the fact that two Gryffindors were actually sitting and talking with each other. Arwiel mentioned how they were a perfect example of what they had been chatting about, and he chuckled. "Yes, I would have to agree. What is with them? I guess thats how things go at such a small school though. Words travel fast. I'm sure people will be talking by the end of the day at how much time we've spent together, and make up stories about it. Who cares though? Friends are friends."
She made mention of going to the library, and he quickly agreed. "Sure, I'd love to go. I could use a bit more quiet as well. Besides, it would give us more time to talk on the way there." Kody was glad to have made a new friend this quickly, and picked up his books, plus a few of Arwiel's, and followed her out of the lounge.

Pagan glanced over the room for a second and rolled her eyes when she saw some Gryffindor's talking and waving a hand in her and Rosen's direction. 'Figures that Gryffindor's couldn't see past their own noses' she thought to herself rolling her eyes at them before turning her attention back to the Ravenclaw in front of her.
