Ezzie walked off to the far corners of the grounds just before the Forbidden Forrest. She wanted to be out of the way so no one would hear her new song while they were working on it. Indoors, echoes of music can always be heard. Outdoors, Ezzie could always practice her music without fear of being heard by other people. Obviously there would always be one person who heard her tune, but there was a lot less of a chance of being heard out here than inside. Ezzie found she worked better outdoors as well. She wanted to write a song about her past life, her life as a homeless girl. She even wanted to write about her life living with her mother and father in the many parts of Europe. She wanted to convey a message, a message that even though life seemed hard and you feel like you’ll be living a terrible life forever. She herself could have used such a lesson when she felt like she’d be working at that hotel forever. If only she could go back in time and tell herself that everything would be okay. Yes, that was what she would write about. She picked up a muggle pencil and started to write in her notebook. The song would be called “Jaded”. After an hour, her song was finished. She wanted to sing it with her guitar now. She had come to Hogwarts with not one guitar at all since her large collection of instruments definitely wouldn’t fit in her trunk. A day later, a small pouch had arrived in the mail from Mr. Jacobs. Inside, was her entire collection of guitars packed comfortably inside. He must have placed an expanding charm of some sort on the pouch to fit her instruments. She picked up her acoustic guitar. She liked the base much better, but the guitar (which she had learned to play over the summer) seemed much more fitting for this song. She came up with a hard hitting tune that would sound much better when played on her guitarist’s electric guitar. Ezzie was good at the guitar, but her guitarist was better. Ezzie was left in charge of the vocals, as that was really her talent. Ezzie started to sing.
She was so lost in her music that she hadn’t heard someone walking up to where she was singing. Ezzie continued on with her song. It was called Jaded, but a more fitting name would be “My Own Guardian Angel”. Jaded seemed to make more sense though, and her other title gave too much of her private life away. She didn’t want the public to know she was writing the song about herself. She continued to sing, still not knowing someone was behind her.
She stopped playing her guitar even though the song was not finished. She wanted to add more to it. Now that she put down her guitar and her pen was in her hand, she could hear the noise coming from behind her. She turned around and almost gasped. “Gosh, you scared me. I didn’t know you were there.” She had no idea who this little girl was, but she knew she had seen her before. She couldn’t be a Gryffindor, or else she would have known who she was. She shrugged mentally and turned to look at the younger girl. “I’ve been so rude, I’m Esmeralda Mendez. Ezzie for short.” She smiled. “What’s your name?”
“Isn't it cold outside?
When it feel like no ones loving you
But I'm watching you
And I'll never hold you down
And they say
That souls can never fade
But along the way
It seem your shadow was erased”
When it feel like no ones loving you
But I'm watching you
And I'll never hold you down
And they say
That souls can never fade
But along the way
It seem your shadow was erased”

“Life is jaded, love had faded
Let me take you away from here oh
Let me kiss you, they won't miss you
Let me lift you away from here”
Let me take you away from here oh
Let me kiss you, they won't miss you
Let me lift you away from here”
