Rosaliz rolled sideways in her sleep, her mind wandering over the past few days and everything that had happened. She realized as she lay there, unable to sleep because of all the thoughts in her mind, that she had somehow managed to bring upon herself so many different enemies that she now seemed almost completely cut off from those around her. As if she was alone in the world with no one to lean on or support her. It had finally happened. Her dream of being completely independent had finally come true and she should have been smirking....but it had come at a price.....she couldn't smirk. One of the reasons she had accomplished this was because she had lost all emotions and shut herself off from them. She couldn't feel happy or even celebrate her victory over her mind as this would be bringing her back to her old self. In fact this had to be one of the most unenjoyable victories of her life. Yet it had to be done. There was no escaping the fact that she was stronger than she had ever been before in her life yet it meant nothing. She was fighting for nothing. She had accomplished uncontrollable power compared to the way she had been but now had no reason to use it. She had wanted power at first so that she could protect herself from those around her but she had cut them off and no longer needed protecting. She had wanted to make a difference but the lack of emotions within her meant she no longer cared about this anymore. The power was completely pointless within her. Yet this did not seem to phase Rosaliz in the slightest. once again she rolled onto her side and tried to shut out the voices that told her she was being wrong.
Rosaliz's eyes shut softly as she tried to drift to sleep. The darkness closing in around her slowly as she breathed out deeply and relaxed. Before she knew it Rosaliz's hand had moved infront of her eyes and she had them shut tightly as a bright light seemed to shine into her face. She squinted slightly but the light was too powerful and she couldn't see anything. It took her a few moments to sit up and start to see shapes through the light and she quickly jumped out of bed and moved towards the source which seemed to be the window. Almost as soon as she looked down the light dimmed and became nothing but a faint glow at the edge of the lake. "What the..." She muttered, rubbing her eyes and regaining her emotionless stare. Without a second thought Rosaliz grabbed her cloak and slipped through the doors of her dormitory. It took a total of ten minutes for Rosaliz to reach the large front oak doors, her way being blocked by many different prefects and teachers and one extremely annoying game that Peeves had been playing. She had at one point thought that the light might have vanished but this doubt was thrown from her mind as she stepped onto the lawn and walked forwards, spotting the light at the edge of the lake once again. Swiftly she crossed the grounds, holding her wand in her uninjured arm, her other one feeling numb as she was supposed to be sleeping to help it recover properly. She could see from here that the light seemed to be coming from a little way into the lake and shining out of it, brighter than she could have imagined it seemed to be shining right from the bottom of the lake.
Rosaliz stood emotionlessly waiting at the edge of the lake. She had contemplated diving in to find the source of the light but this thought had been dismissed as the light intensified, telling Rosaliz that whatever was causing it was now making it's way to the surface. Rosaliz was not worried about whatever this thing was. She couldn't be worried about anything anymore. She didn't feel and therefore wasn't afraid. Yet she held her wand softly just in case of an attack. There was a difference between being afraid and being prepared for anything. Twenty minutes past as Rosaliz stood looking into the lake and she began to yawn frequently. It seemed a completely boring task standing here especially as she had no idea what was coming, and yet something held her routed to the spot. She couldn't put her finger on what it was but staying here was very important. Another five minutes past. Rosaliz was starting to think about leaving and going back to her dormitory when she saw exactly why she had been pulled towards this place and kept here. Two people were now walking out of the lake.
Rosaliz staggered backwards, recognizing them instantly from photos she had seen whilst growing up. The one on the left was a short woman, black curly hair seemed to flow down the sides of her face and rested gently upon her shoulders as deep hazel eyes stared out at her from under a small fringe. The woman was stunningly beautiful and as she smiled her face seemed to light up brightly. The man walking next to her was taller than she was. He had short blonde hair and a muscular physique which would have been noticeable if the clothes he was wearing had been affected in anyway by the water but the two figures looked as if they were simply walking along grass rather than out of a lake. Rosaliz's first thought was that the two of them were ghosts but this was quickly countered by the fact that neither of them were white or transparent. They looked just like real people and walked on the floor as well instead of drifting like a ghost would. Rosaliz felt her breath catch in her throat and began to stutter. For the first time in so long she was unable to control any of her emotions. "M-m-mum? D-dad?" She muttered, stepping backwards even further and tripping over the tree root that lay by the edge of the lake. As she fell she landed on her bad arm and screamed out at the pain that shot up it suddenly. This scream seemed to be cut short however as her fear once again took over her and she fell silent, looking back at the two figures and trying to crawl away from them. This couldn't be real....it wasn't....
"What's happened to you Rosaliz?" Her father spoke first. His voice was deep and forceful. The kind of voice that would be best suited ordering people around and giving out instructions. "Your mother and I never thought you'd become this." he continued, looking down as if he was ashamed of Rosaliz. "We spent our entire lives fighting to try and keep the dark arts from spreading and to keep those that performed them locked up and now it seems that our own son and daughter has chosen to go the same way as them?" Her voice seemed slightly angry now as she stepped towards Rosaliz but her mother put her hand on her shoulder to try and calm her. When her mother spoke her voice was calm and seemed to drift easily across the wind. "Rosaliz you can't be happy like this. Fighting everyone and everything that offends you. Think of everything that's happened to you recently. How can you say this is what you want to happen?" She asked. Her tone was not forceful and yet Rosaliz found herself unable to ignore her question. It seemed to repeat itself over and over in her mind until she finally had to give an answer before she snapped.
"It's the only way I can avoid being hurt by those close to me." She tried to explain, leaning backwards now against the trunk of a tree that she had crawled against. She had no way of getting out of here now but didn't think she would even if she could. "Rosaliz you're getting hurt now so much more than you were when you had friends, people you could rely on to share the troubles you had. You've done nothing but argue since you changed and theres no way that it can be less painful this way." Her mother replied softly, her voice was still calm but she felt as though it was demanding something of her."You don't understand. I can't let anyone get close to me anymore. Even if I could it's too late. Emily was the only one who ever stood by me and she hates what I've become." She argued, pushing herself up the tree with her good arm. Her injured arm was far too painful to be able to move. "It's never too late to look back Rosaliz. I'm sure at least someone will be waiting for you." Her mother said. This time her voice sounded distant as if she was moving away from her. Rosaliz had closed her eyes slightly to try and fight back the tears and as she opened them she realized that she was no longer leaning against the tree. She was standing ten feet into the lake, water washing around up to her chest as she looked around suddenly. There was no light. No figures that could be her parents moving away. Only the last few words ringing in her mind still. Slowly Rosaliz turned towards the shore, her wand was lying on the edge of the lake, out of her reach and she tried to move back towards it. However it seemed her foot was trapped in some kind of tangle of weeds and no matter how hard she pulled she couldn't get free. Rosaliz could tell instantly that the barrier to her emotions was broken by the recent meeting as fear and worry began to race into her mind and she tugged powerfully at the weeds but to no effect.
There was no chance that her leg was going to get free and looking at the side of the lake Rosaliz could see that the water level was rising slightly. She had no idea whether this was normal or not but either way it was happening. She looked around helplessly, her voice unable to form words at all as she struggled with the weeds. Water was now up to her neck and she tilted her head trying to catch the last few drops of air before she was pulled under......
