Oh, what should she do? What should she do? Lynne stared at the letter in her hands, unconsciously gripping it tighter than before as her mind raced to make a decision. Kael had always encouraged her to tell someone about her synaesthesia so she knew exactly what her twin would say. Despite being so cynical about his own life, he sure seemed to take an optimistic view of her life. Because Kael would tell her to go for it, to stop being so afraid and just trust in Valmer as she so obviously had when she had told him. How had she been so stupid as to tell him though? Their first meeting, with her crying and upset over her best friend no less, and she just blurted out her most closely guarded secret. Stupid, stupid, stupid! She hadn't made such a bad mistake since...well, ever really. Never had she made such a bad decision as she had when deciding to tell someone about her syneasthesia. At the very least, Lynne had had the sense to avoid him ever since. Until he had sent her an owl – it seemed so ridiculous, silly enough to make Lynne burst out into slightly hysterical giggles, that he had sent an owl to her when they were both in Hogwarts – she hadn’t even considered stopping her avoidance of the Slytherin boy. Why should she? There was no reason for Valmer to keep her secret; they were not friends in the strictest sense nor did he owe her anything. That she hadn’t heard any whispered giggles aimed at her nor suffered through the bullying that she had when she was younger had calmed her somewhat. For whatever reason, Valmer had kept her secret. So what was this letter, the unveiling of what he wanted in repayment?
“I guess I gotta go then, right Jupiter?” The white kitten mewed at her sleepily, half-opening one green eye. Her tail lashed angrily as Lynne started to move without showing any sign of taking the kitten with her, making Lynne smile and pick her up. “Silly kitten,” she scolded gently, striding out of the common room before putting Jupiter down. “Alright then,” Lynne murmured to herself quietly, “the bench near the last fountain in the courtyard it is then. Lead the way, Jup.” She regained some of her usual cheer as she and Jupiter skipped through the corridors, offering and receiving greetings as she passed by people she knew. She saw Kael along the way too, a black kitten, almost identical to the white kitten currently threading through her legs, trotting along at his heels obediently. Her twin made quite an interesting view, Lynne laughed to herself quietly. She had seen him accidentally make a first year cry because of his brusque manner and cynical comments. But she had also seen him flustered and upset as he tried to apologize for his own personality to the young girl. The only difference between her and practically everyone else who saw Kael was that she knew his softer side and therefore she didn’t think it was strange when he treated animals so gently because that was exactly how he treated her too.
Lynne stopped just before reaching the bench Valmer had told her to meet him at, seeing a figure already sitting there. It was understandable that he was there before her, since she was running a bit late. It had taken her so long to decide to actually show up that she would’ve had to run to be on time. Not being that eager to face Valmer again after such a long time, and desperately wishing that she had Danny or Kael there to calm her down because she was far too worried about what would happen, she had simply walked – or skipped rather but that wasn’t the point. Lynne drew closer, praying that her voice would break as she stared at the boy sitting on the bench, her arms folded against her chest almost defensively. “So what do you want?” Lynne asked quietly, her gaze flicking down to the bench and then back to Valmer as she waited for an answer.
