Rhett made his way to the courtyard for the very first time. It was wet from the rain. The sun tried to peak its way through as the humidity began to rise. You could smell the dampness of the ground. He saw the beautiful fountain nearby. He hoped to make friends but he was a little hesitant. He smiled at some people as he walked closer to the fountain. They gave him a weird look as they walked on. He didn't care what they thought. He finally made it to the fountain. He sat down on fountainside step looking at the water as it gently came down.

Wingardium Leviosa Ary muttered the spell in her mind. She could now make tables float a few feet off the ground, although she was still a bit wobbly. Charms had been her last lessons, and now she was walking around the Courtyard, aimlessly. She looked up. The sky was grey again, what a surprise. Ary stared to think up wand combinations. A pale, lean wood in contrast to its strong, vibrant core. The wood would have to be flexible and young. Long, perhaps 11 inch. The core would be Heartstring, either Dragon or Hippogriff. Arywiel though about it carefully. Yes, that would make a good wand. An agile, quick thing yet with much effect, perfect for Transfiguration. Arywiel Coone was very enthusiastic about wands, and she wished to open her own shop in Hogsmeade one day.
Ary passed several benches and one or two familiar faces looked up at her and smiled. Ary waved to Phoebe and started to make her way towards her, but her Ball date approached her first, his back to Ary. With a quick glance at her friend, Arywiel stalked off. She couldn't help feeling jealous, when all the girls in her dorm and her year were already fixed with a partner for the Winter Ball. She hadn't thought about it much, when the sign went up in the Common room, but the horrible thought of being unwanted started to sink in fast. If she couldn't get with a Gryffindor, how about a Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff? Ary was surprised at herself for being so superficial. What did she care about a measly little dance? If she let herself be asked out by any boy who would take her, it would be an insult to herself. She straightened up and tried not to look at the ground as she walked. Phoebe was going with a fourth year Gryffindor. Ary slapped herself around the head in her imagination. She forced her mind back onto wands, but it bent back cheekily, testing her patience. What was so bad about going alone? She could have a fun time watching her friends dance and poke fun at any of them if they tripped. Perhaps there would be other single-goers who might ask her to dance, just to avoid the awkwardness. Perhaps even a boy younger than herself? Arywiel huffed to herself. She had never thought much of boys before. They were stubborn, big-headed...
Ary hadn't looked were she was going and had knocked into someone. Bemused, she looked at the person's face.
