Noah rolled his head slowly as he made his way down the main corridor toward the Great Hall. His neck cracked loudly enough to be heard amongst the shuffle of students. Chris was walking beside him, loosening the front of his tie. "I suppose it's a good place for a nap, but it's not exactly my cuppa tea,” he said, looking sideways at his friend. Noah groaned in reply, rubbing his neck gently. “Why do you always assume I sleep during Professor Bin’s class?” Chris just raised his eyebrow at Noah, “Who wouldn’t doze off?” Noah thought this over, trying to remember how many students were sleeping in class, or just not paying any attention at all. Almost everyone, expect for some of those Ravenclaws who wouldn’t dare sleep when a Professor was lecturing. Yes, Noah was a Raven, but he wasn’t the hard core intelligent type. He was smart and liked to stay organized, but not to the point of obsessing about it. “Alright I see your point, but I actually was paying…some attention…” Noah began looking at Chris with a hard face wondering if his friend would catch that he was lying. “Yeah right, Noah. You haven’t notice the paper indents on your face.” Noah sighed, shrugging as they turned another corner. “Alright so I was sleeping…your going to do some homework with me in the Great Hall right?” he asked walking slower as they almost were in front of the giant oak doors. “Nah….I got to meet Weetz soon anyway.” Noah just nodded making a mental note in his head to talk to the younger girl still. He had been keeping a look out for her, but she didn’t have any classes near his.
Stopping in front of the door, Noah watched as his friend waved bye, heading toward a girl who was leaning up against the stone walls. Noah smiled slightly watching Weetzie and Chris walk off, the younger girl looking almost as if she were ranting. Well, he didn’t know too much about her, only which her cousin had died sometime soon. Pushing the doors open, his eyes flashed toward the Ravenclaw table, noticing a small study group with charms books open in front of them. One Hufflepuff girl was working on a potion, a horrid smell coming from the fumes. Gagging slightly, Noah looked at the Gryffindor table where Ryann Taylor sat, looking puzzled. He grinned at the site, making his way through the long isle’s to where she was sitting. Even though he had only met her once in the tree house, he enjoyed her company immensely. She liked music just like him, which was a plus in Noah’s book, but they didn’t talk for long. “Hey Ryann,” he greeted, setting his bag down on the table across from her smiling. He stopped himself from sitting down, griping the end of the table. “Mind if I sit here?” When she responded, he grinned taking a seat while unzipping the front of his bag. He had a History of Magic essay due at the end of the week on a topic he barely took any notes on. “You happen to know anything about goblin rebellion oh the early century?” Noah asked, looking vaguely hopeful. “I may be in Ravenclaw, but I, as anyone else, do sleep in class.”
Looking over across the table at the book that laid open, his eyebrow rose slightly. “Do you need any help?” Leaning across the table, Noah skimmed the page, wondering if he could be of any assistance.

Ryann chewed on the end of her quill, careful not to get any ink in her mouth. She had been stuck for a rather long time on the particular part of her Potions essay that dealt with the antidotes for possible side-effects of the blood-replenishing potion. It didn't help much that she spent half of her time eavesdropping on the daily gossip from a few seventh year girls sitting down the table a bit from her. Also, she would randomly scan the Great Hall, just to see who was around. Potions wasn't her favourite subject either, and it didn't help that she just wanted to be done with the stupid essay so that she could have the rest of the evening free to just relax. Taking another glance around the hall, Ryann's gaze stopped when she spotted Noah standing by the door. She quickly looked back down at her parchment though when his eyes looked her way. She felt her cheeks redden, wondering if he had noticed her starring at him.
Glancing up just subtly, Ryann saw that he was coming her way. She tried suppressing the girlish grin that slowly crept on to her face when she decided he was coming right to her. Sure enough, he stopped and asked if he could join her. "A Ravenclaw at the Gryffindor table?" she questioned, teasingly. As he took a seat, Ryann shifted her stuff around so that he would have enough room to sit across from her. "Better yet, he's seeking help with school!" Ryann gave him a playful smile before turning his essay so that she could read it. She scanned it briefly and then looked at him with wide eyes. "Tell ya what... how about you fill me in on the bloody antidotes for this dreadful potion, and I'll see what I can scrounge from me memory of the Goblin Rebellion." Ryann knew right away that his input would surely be more beneficial than hers ever could be. She dropped History of Magic at the beginning of the school term, deciding it was the least important of the massive load she had buried herself under. Nonetheless, Ryann jotted down a few notes on a scrap piece of parchment, trying to identify some of the key goblins involved, along with some of the important dates she could remember.
Getting bored rather quickly, and frankly running out of information that she could offer Noah, Ryann slid his essay back over toward him while he was putting the finishing touches on hers. "Don't know how much good it'll do you, but I tried." Ryann shrugged her shoulders before taking back her essay and only briefly looking to see what Noah had added. She didn't care much at this point, and so she shoved the essay back into her bag, along with her quill and ink. "So, Noah Bentley... what did you end up doing for the rest of your summer break? You know that concert you told me about? Well, I ended up going... needless to say I didn't see you there." Ryann looked at him with a semi-glare, her eyes doing most of the questioning. She figured that there were a lot of people, but at least she had spent the entire concert looking for him. Perhaps he hadn't even bothered remembering she might be there. "I did manage to add quite a bit of records my collection- filled in some of the missing spots rather nicely." She smiled, waiting to hear what his excuse was for ditching her at the concert. Well, at least Ryann would call it ditching, but maybe Noah didn't see it that way.

Noah smirked slightly at Ryann’s greeting. “What’s wrong with a Ravenclaw wanting to sit with a Gryffindor during study time?” he asked as he plopped down onto the bench. Students could usually sit with other houses in the Great Hall between the meal hours. “You should consider yourself lucky that I’m sitting with you. I don’t just sit with anyone” Noah joked back, a grin spreading across his face. It was strange really. He liked to flirt with Ryann, but he didn’t feel really anything else toward her other thank just friends. Well, maybe there was a little attraction in him, but not enough to ask her out. “I may be in Ravenclaw, but I’m not brilliant at every subject.” Grinning he nodded at his remark. It was quite true. Noah was very organized and liked learning, but he wasn’t as intelligent as his other house mates. There were some pretty uptight Ravenclaws he knew. “I don’t even understand why I continued to History of Magic,” he groaned, resting his head into the palms of his hands. Maybe it was the fact that his father wanted him to continue learning about the magical history, or just because he thought it was an easy class. Other than that Chris was right. He should have made his last year at Hogwarts easy on himself. When Ryann said she would help, he looked up at her, a grateful gleam in his eyes. “You continued with Potions…are you one of the only Gryffs that Professor Snape can tolerate?” he asked trying to understand what went through Ryann mind to continue the course. He really didn’t know much about, so he might as well as challenging questions. Professor Snape was a harsh teacher, not someone Noah wanted to continue seeing after his fifth year.
When Ryann wrote down some information she knew about the Goblin Rebellion, Noah racked his brain trying to remember the potion antidotes. Glancing down at the parchment that had slide across the table, he jotted down some names he remembered. “I can only think of four…How many did Snape want you to put down?” Noah asked sliding the paper back to her. Looking down at Ryann’s own neat hand writing, he nodded remembering hearing bits and pieces from his nap period in History of Magic. “Don’t worry. Any information is useful. I kind of took a nap during Professor Binns class today.” Folding the paper up, Noah set it inside his back pack, before digging inside for his course books. There was a brief moment of silence, as Ryann began to put her things away. She was probably going to get ready for an intense conversation, which Noah really didn’t mind having. It was a lot more enjoyable to talk to Ryann that work on his essays. Ryann asked about the rest of his summer, mentioning the concert he was about to go too. “Yeah…I had to stay home to look after my youngest sister…My parents played the guilt card on me,” he apologized, frowning at the fact that he missed out on his favorite bands concert. “Were they good? I told you they were my favorite band right?” Noah asked, looking up from his backpack.
Zipping the bag back up, Noah set it on the ground as he gave Ryann his full undivided attention. “How was the rest of your summer?” he asked resting his elbows on the table top. Setting his chin comfortably in the palm of his hand, he watched Ryann, waiting for her to answer his question. “Oh yeah…remember those questions you asked me in the tree house?” he began trying to remember how exactly he answered. “Well what about you? What are you dreams and fears?”

Oh trust me, Ryann thought to herself, if you only knew how lucky I feel right now. As they worked, Noah had mentioned that he should have dropped History of Magic. "Like me," Ryann replied. "You should have made the smart choice to stay away from the terribly boring class." She smiled at Noah. "As for Potions, I figured it was a pretty important course for a lot of different careers. It's not my favourite, but I can stomach Snape every now and then. If you just blend in and don't make yourself known, he tends to look over you regardless of what house you are in."
When Noah mentioned her essay, Ryann gave him a thankful look. "Four is plenty more than I could remember," she said happily, glad to have the homework out of the way so that she and Noah could talk about something besides school work. She laughed when Noah mentioned that he had fallen asleep in class. "It figures. Of course Professor Binns was probably too caught up in his lecture that he didn't even notice.
Noah's excuse for missing the concert was at least valid, Ryann concluded. It was kind of lame, but she couldn't really blame him much. "Well, if it was your favourite band, I'd at least think you'd make more of an effort to make it. Plus, you knew I was going to be there." She trailed off, leaving it open for interpretation. Ryann liked hinting at things, despite Noah never seeming to pick up on any of them. Or, if he had noticed her hints and such, he had been doing a fine job of ignoring them. "And... they were amazing. You should've been there."
"Oh that's so unfair," Ryann whined teasingly when Noah brought back the questions that she had asked him in the tree house. "Those are my questions, and I reserve the right to refuse to answer them." She gave him a glare before smiling and proceeding to give at least a basic answer to be kind. "Biggest dream... well, that one's difficult. I guess it would be to just live life to its fullest. I don't want to miss out on anything that might be in my future possibilities. And then, to go along with that, my biggest fear is to go through life and not take advantage of everything that is available. I guess I just want to live and learn and then be able to look back and feel that I used my life instead of just wasting it and letting it go by. I don't necessarily think it is all going to be good and happy, but I want the experiences regardless. It's a package deal, and I want the whole package. Life isn't a buffet where you can just go through and take what you want, at least not if you really want to live..." Ryann knew she was rambling and being rather philosophical, but Noah had asked, and so he'd better be ready for an answer. "Good enough response?" she teased, smiling again before playing with the ring on her finger.
"You know... there is a Hogsmeade trip coming up next week. Do you have any plans for it? I'm probably going to start my Christmas shopping. I know it's early, but you can never be too prepared."

Noah sighed at Ryann’s comment on not taking such boring classes. She was right he should have stayed away from continuing on further into the studies. “I always thought Potions was the second most boring class next to History of Magic. Then again, I was never really good at that subject. Snape always got annoyed whenever I let the potion over boil. I think my potions are the reason it smells so bad down there,” he chuckled grinning widely at his memories. “So I take it that Potions is one of your strengths? Does that mean it’s also your favorite class?” Noah smiled at Ryann’s words to helping her with her homework. It was the least he could do after she helped in him return. “You got that right. Bin’s class has to be the one where you can find almost half the students asleep. However, Snape’s course you can see everyone sitting on the edge of their seats…well minus the few Gryffs that are brave enough to talk back.” Noticing a basket full of fruit, Noah picked a red apple from inside. He set it on the table, spinning it around, the core shinning in the light. Ryann was going on about his absence at the concert. She seemed more annoyed by it than what Noah thought. Glancing up at her, he shrugged twisting the apple around once more. “I wish I could have made it…better than spending the night helping your little sister play dress up with her dolls....You should have gotten me a CD. Did you get any extras I could have?”
Laughing when Ryann teased about not answering the questions, Noah waited until she finally cracked. When she rambled on about her dream of living life to the fullest, he nodded his head in agreement. She was quite right. People just couldn’t sit back and play it safe, but that was what Noah did sometimes. He shrugged the thought away, grinning as Ryann noticed she was babbling again. Noah liked that about her. She wasn’t the kind of girl who was afraid to talk, plus he likes watching her squirm around him. “Sounds like a reasonable dream. The next question is; are you following it?” he inquired looking at her in the eye with a small smile. Her response sounded as if she was preaching, but at least she had thought this over enough to give such detail. “It’s quite a dream really. I was waiting for you to say you dreamed of owning every piece of music collection printed.” Noah smirked briefly before laughing lightly. “You didn’t say what your biggest fear is, and please don’t say spiders or any other kind of insects. I would be to tempted tease you with it.”
There was pause of silence between, Ryann fiddling with the ring on her finger. Noah watched her curiously wondering what was running across her mind. When she asked about the first upcoming Hogsmeade weekend, he immediately grinned. “Christmas shopping in October…?” he questioned shrugging before she began to spin the apple around. “A Hogsmeade trip sounds fun. Sure, I’m in, though, I don’t do my shopping until late November, but I could help you I guess…as long as we can save time for dinner later.”

"I did't get an extra CD, but you can borrow mine. I tend to stick with my record collection anyways. For some reason the idea of a CD just makes me think that the music is somewhat less valuable than that of a record." She gave Noah a guilty grin, knowing that it really didn't matter what the music was on that made it good. Still, Ryann had grown up loving her record collection so much that CD's never did sit well with her. Ryann smiled then when Noah said that her dream was a good one. "Of course I'm following it. And, I did tell you my fear, silly, since it was that I feared not being able to live life to the fullest, which was basically what my dream was." She finished with a deep breath, giving Noah a look of disappointment as if he was really not even listening to what he was saying. "And I dare you to even try teasing me with spiders or something. You'll have wished you picked some other girl to taunt." Ryann was totally joking with Noah, and in fact she hoped that he would actually do something like that. Of course, flirting didn't seem to be the problem; it was not being able to get him to at least give some hint that he might like her as more than friends that was driving Ryann absolutely crazy!
"Anyways," she said, taking another deep breath, "who says you can't start your shopping early. It's better than waiting until it's too late. And yes... we can reserve the evening for dinner. I know a really good musical cafe that we can go to." Was he really asking her to dinner? If Ryann wasn't mistaken, that was normally considered a date. No... Noah couldn't be asking her on a date, could he? Ryann felt her cheeks begin to blush again, and so she looked down, trying to hide it. She then pulled her bag to her lap and began rifling through it, not really looking for anything in particular. Just then, the bell sounded, indicating that the next class period had started. It startled Ryann, and she looked at her watch. "Oh my!" she said, realizing that time had slipped by faster than she had known. "I'm late for Charms!" she exclaimed, rushing to her feet and slinging her bag over her shoulder. Lucky for her, she didn't have to make an excuse to hide the fact that she was shocked at Noah's request. "So, I'll see you later then?" she questioned, hurrying off as she spoke.
