Crossing his arms across his chest, Aaron eyed the costume that lay upon his four poster bed. He couldn’t believe that he was going to wear such scanty material. It was one piece, but the material was made out of fake leaves. The top didn’t have any sleeves, but there was a slash that hang across his right shoulder. For the bottoms, well they were more like Bermuda shorts. “Well…it’s better than tights,” he told himself with a heavy sigh. Aaron was excited for the night, but he just wasn’t comfortable with the outfit chose. Growing up, Aaron absolutely loved Peter Pan. Actually, Peter was his idol growing up; living forever as a boy, and fighting wicked pirates by the name of, Captain Hook. Lenora was always Wendi and had once gotten him into tights for Halloween. Aaron didn’t mind the tights back then, but he knew for certain that he wasn’t going to wear then. Though, he kept motivating himself that it was all for Ingrid. He wanted to make this night special for her, to apologize for his behavior for the past four months. Running his hands through his wet hair, Aaron planted himself down on his bed. The other boys were already getting dressed, chatting happily about their dates. “You’re going with Ingrid, right Aaron?” one asked as Aaron finally got himself to get dressed. Pulling the costume over his head, he pulled it down by the end, adjusting certain areas. “Yeah….” He began tugging at the fringy material, “Hoping to make up for lost time, you know?” he responded back, ruffling his dirty straw colored hair.
Once he was happy with everything, Aaron waved goodbye to his friends, patting them on the back as he bounded down the stairs to the common room. Stopping at the foot of the last step by the wall, he ignored the snigger of delight from a couple of the portraits next to him. It was always giggling, but anybody would be if they saw Aaron at that moment. Noticing Ingrid come down the stairs, a smile instantly lit up his face. She looked positively wonderful. Not that she didn’t always look good, but she suited the rule of Wendi perfectly. Making his way up to her side, Aaron took her wrist gently, tugging her across the room by the fireplace. His hand still held hers as he leaned against the mantle, the flames roaring next to him. “I have to go soon for the court announcement. So I’ll meet you by the food table?” he asked his blue eyes boring into hers as his thumb glided over her smooth skin. It was shocking how fast Aaron had gotten over his depression, but he still had an aching fear in his hear that will forever leave a scar. “I’ll see you later!” Nodding, Aaron grinned as he turned around on his heels, following the crowd out of the portrait hole. Within minutes, Aaron was standing outside the enormous oak doors of the Great Hall. All the other court members were gathered around, talking amongst themselves. He could see the nervous look in some of their eyes, but strangely Aaron didn’t feel any nerves.
Hearing Professor Dumbledore’s voice, Aaron glanced over at Harmony smiling at her. One by one, each of the couples were called, followed by applause as they made their way down the hall. When it was his turn, Aaron kept a small smile on his face he followed next to Harmony down toward where the students were being announced. As the last couple took their place the hall fell silent. Dumbledore’s cheery voice broke through the silence, proclaiming the titles of the students. Hearing Harmony’s name being called, Aaron grinned at her, clapping as she stepped forward. He kept clapping slowly until everyone was crowned. Aaron wasn’t disappointed he got anything he was more surprised that he actually got nominated on the court. As they finished, Aaron followed the others into the crowds, his eyes searching for Ingrid. Finally spotting her talking to her sister by the refreshment table, Aaron made his way over toward the two.
“Ingrid! Janine!” he greeted looking down at the little first year. Well, wasn’t the ironic? She was dressed as Tinkerbelle. Maybe she had overheard their idea plans to the ball. “You aren’t going to get jealous of your sister are you, Tink?” he asked playfully, bending down on his knees to fix a wind that was bent. “You wouldn’t happen by any chance to have fairy dust, now would you?”
((OOC- Hope you don't mind that I brought Janine into this. Thought it would be interesting. ))
