((This post is set up as a game for anybody wanting to participate while attending the Bonfire event. Below is a list of rules for how you can play the game with your character. Kennedy and Alexander Promise were in charge of setting this game up In-Character, and so the two of us will be coming in and either replying or editing your own posts with replies as to whether or not you won anything... yes, there are prizes!!! )) Kennedy made his way down to the site where the bonfire was set to take place that evening. Between he and Alex, they were to create and monitor some sort of game in which students could win prizes. In the end, they had decided that the game should have something to do with fire, and being that Kennedy and Alex were rather creative when their minds were put together, they had made the prizes such that there were both good and bad prizes. It would be more fun that way, and at least then everybody might get a good laugh from the game. Seeing that Alex had already came through earlier in the day to bring all of the materials needed, Kennedy simply had to set the game up and then post the rules. With that, he began by first putting the fifty cardboard boxes into five rows of ten. They made a grid on the ground, and each box was numbered one through fifty. Then, using the list that he and Alex had created, Kennedy went through and cast the fire-proofing charm on the boxes that had the good prizes underneath them. Finally, using the list of curses that they had researched, Kennedy found all thirteen of the boxes that would release the bad prizes (the bad prizes being curses) and cast the appropriate curse on each box. Everything was ready, save for the rules. Taking the sign that he and Alex had made, Kennedy stuck it in the ground so that anybody wanting to know what the game entailed could read for themselves.

At first, Williard wasn't sure about Bonfire Night. He didn't know exactly what to expect, but everything turned out quite nicely. Glancing to the left, he saw a rather attractive sign posted about what looked like a game. "Hmmmm. 'Playing With Fire.'" Williard read out loud to himself. He proceeded to read the rules, and decided it was easy enough, plus you could possibly get a prize. So, taking his wand out of his robe pocket, he looked at all five rows of boxes. He didn't exactly know which one would be a good one so, without thinking, he aimed his wand at the box numbered fifteen, and said, "Incendio." Congratulations, your hands have just been clasped together! You should regain use of them in about half an hour! Good Luck!
((You may now modify your post and include whatever Williard's reaction would have been if you wish to do so. )As the box burned, Williard felt a strange sensation in his hands, and then, with rather loud clap, his hands snapped together with his wand sticking out in the middle of them. Oh great, he thought, attempting to pull his hands away from eachother. It was rotten luck, but for some reason, Williard found himself smiling. He knew why too. If Skyler or Elizabeth were here to see this, they'd probably be rolling on the ground with laughter. Where were they? They said they'd be here but Williard hadn't seen them yet.

Sep was walking through the crowds of bonfire night and realised that there was a sign posted for a game. It sounded quite good. Simple and easy and besides, you could win prizes, mind you, it said that there were curses to but they wouldn't be that bad. So yes, Sep would have a go. She stepped up and looked at the boxes, taking her wand out of her pocket. "Incendio!" She said, wondering what would happen. She looked at the box she had chosen. Number 43. You’ve just been turned into a rather large canary! Don’t worry, you’ll molt in a few moments and be back to normal!
((You may now modify your post and include whatever Sep's reaction would have been if you wish to do so. )Sep was shocked when she suddenly felt..... feathers. Thinking she could have some fun she waddled up to someone and squawked at them. Then she lost her dignity and fell down. Hopefully she'd change back soon.

Mack had finished setting up the bonfire with Bryce, the 7th year Hufflepuff prefect, and was starting her patrolling. She didn't like the fact that she had to patrol, it was probably the most boring task that a Prefect could be assigned. She didn't know what McGonagall was thinking when the assignments were given, but she didn't like how it all turned out. Not only was she given the dullest task, she was away from Alex for the entire night. Before the bonfire night had even begun, Mack had decided she'd patrol over to the booth he and Kennedy were running and she would hang out there for a bit before returning to her circling. It wouldn’t be too bad considering about 3 more Prefects were patrolling as well. Mack had been neglecting her duties, though, and she knew this but she wasn't going to go the whole night without saying hi to Alex and talking with him. Besides, it was always a riot when he and Kennedy got together and talked about things that Mack couldn’t comprehend or take interest in – most always magical creatures. So, after setting up the bonfire and walking along the shore of the lake for a bit, Mack headed over toward Alex and Kennedy's booth. It came into the distance and Mack could see Alex sitting, looking rather bored, while Kennedy oversaw some first year turning over a box. She tucked her hair behind her ear and approached the booth, "Mind if I take a whack at it?" a smile was bright on her face as she pulled out her wand and twirled it in her fingers. Before she did anything, she kissed Alex's cheek, and then turned to the boxes that were lined up all nice and neat.
Lifting her wand, Mack scanned the row of boxes and finally picked number 24, "Incendio!" A light shot from her wand and sparked the box, sending it into a flame. She smiled and turned to the two boys, waiting for her prize…or her curse.
((I will edit more once I get my prize or whatnot.))

Promise sat on a chair, with his feet up on Kennedy’s chair, taking advantage of the fact that he had taken the first kid of the night. Promise had just helped a girl get her curse, well technically he didn’t have to do anything except smile and wave as the girl turned into a very large bird. That had to be the greatest part of tonight, the curses. And Alex didn’t mean that to be cruel, it was just really funny seeing some of the things that came up when the kids blew up the boxes. As of yet, no one had gotten any prizes, just curses...which was just fine by Alex. He yawned and stretched his arms over his head, wondering where Mack was. Alex was nearly certain that it was no coincidence that he had been asked to work the booth while Mack was to patrol. If Alex had been allowed to patrol with her they’d end up far away from the bon fire. Alex knew people kind of...suspected the two of them, but no one had said anything so he supposed it was all ok. Yeah, Kennedy liked to pick at him about it occasionally, but it was all in good fun.
Alex sat up and took his feet from Kennedy’s chair, just in time to look up and see none other than Mackenzie Holden walking towards him. He smiled and shook his head at her, loving the way she found ways to see him even when they were supposed to be working. But what could be expected? They were prefects; it didn’t mean they were completely perfect. Alex stood as Mack walked over, and smiled as she kissed his cheek. Alex nodded to her and then motioned with his hand towards the boxes. “Go right ahead honey.” Alex stood back a bit when Mack waved her wand and then picked a box, and then watched as the thing burst into flames. A few seconds later the flames had subsided, leaving a slightly charred ring of grass, but nothing else. Normally, if there was a prize the prize would be on the ground, and if there was a curse there would be some sort of popping noise. So with a smirk, Alex waited for the popping noise...and yet...it didn’t come. After a few moments he turned back to Mack with a sad smile. “Nothing, sorry love.”

"Nothing? Are you serious?" Mack stared at Alex with her eyes wide and then she turned to look at Kennedy before stepping back slightly to look at the both of them, pointing at the two; "I blame both of you! Oh, bah, nothing!" She wasn't really upset. Okay, so perhaps she was. Mack really wanted something Preferably not a curse in any way, but she would have liked to have gotten something. Mack was rather excited to have a thought that she might actually get something, but now? Now she was upset. She crossed her arms over her chest and scowled down at the grass before looking back up at Alex sharply; "Can I go again?" she knew she wouldn't have much trouble with convincing Alex to let her go again, but it was Kennedy she'd have to beg. She didn't see why she couldn't go just one more time, or perhaps she was just swaying her opinion so that she would be allowed to. Mack really wanted something (even though she had seen a girl turn into a canary and would much rather not have feathers and a beak) and she wouldn't leave until she got something.
Mack, before she got the answer from either of the boys (even though she knew they wouldn't really care anyway… they could always just magically restore the boxes if they ever ran out, which Mack doubted they would with how small the school was), turned back toward the boxes and fired another one, this time box number 35. She told herself that if she didn't get anything for this one, too, she was just jinxed and that she would walk away and let them work. Stupid games…
((Yes, I've realised how short it is. You've no idea how much I would love to make this longer, but there's really not much you can do with it. There goes my quality points. *frowns*))

Alex was trying not to laugh at the expression on Mack’s face and then when she stepped back and accused him and Kennedy for her not receiving a prize he actually did bust up laughing. Everyone else had gotten a curse and here Mack hadn’t gotten anything. But Alex knew that if Mack had gotten a curse she would have blamed him for it even more, and so this was probably one of the better outcomes. He finally restrained his laughter and then just smiled at her as she crossed her arms and stared down at the grass. When she did look up again Alex rolled his eyes and moved to sit back down again. “I don’t mind, it’s up to Kennedy, sweetheart.” Of course, before Kennedy was even given a chance to answer, Mack was at it again. But hey, that was her way...she always seemed to get what she wanted.
Except for a prize. Alex watched as Mack lit another box on fire, and this one took a few minutes to burn down before it finally suppressed itself. Alex stood so that he could see if there was anything on the ground, and then once again had to hold back laughter. Yeah, ok so sometimes she didn’t get what she wanted. Alex walked over to Mack and waited a few minutes, just to be sure there wasn’t a delayed crack, before looking at her sadly again. “Maybe this just isn’t the game for you?”

After dinner, Skyler had managed to wonder his way from the Great Hall back to the Ravenclaw common room. He was getting slightly better at finding his way around the castle but still occasionally getting lost. He didn't stop in the common room, instead going straight up to his dorm. He had missed Will at dinner and thought the best place to find him was probably in their room with his sketch book. Skyler smiled at the thought of Will. Their friendship had appeared out of nowhere and yet Skyler was happy that he could call someone his friend. He hoped that he could call Mack and Alex his friends but he was pretty sure that they saw him more as an annoying little pest. Maybe not Alex, he was too nice. And maybe not Mack, she had helped him in the lounge. Okay, strike that thought. Hopefully they liked him as much as he liked them. Entering the first year Ravenclaw's room he saw that it was empty. Will was no where to be found. "That's odd," Skyler stated to no one in particular. He headed back down to the common room thinking that maybe Will was in the library. He liked to read after all. As he was about to exit, he saw a poster on the wall. "Remember, Remember, the Fifth of November" it read. Suddenly Skyler remembered. Will had told Elizabeth and he that he was going to the bonfire. "Oh great," Skyler muttered. "Now I have to find my way back to the grounds." Seeing as he had just come from the Great Hall, the route was fresh in his mind so he had no trouble finding his way. Well, little trouble. He exited the Great Hall and found himself outside. He had no idea how he was going to find Will, just by luck he supposed. Skyler wondered around until he came upon a game. He read the sign with the rules and looked to see who was there. And the results could not have been better. There was Alex, Mackenzie, and Will. He was so excited that for a time he forgot that he was there to play the game. He walked up to Will and saw that he hands were clasped together. "That stinks! We'd better stick together (no pun intended) tonight and I'll be your hands." He then turned to approach Alex and Mack. "Hey guys! Mack are you going to sing a song for us tonight? That would be amazing! Alex, where have you been? I haven't seen you much in the common room." At of the corner of his eye he saw a canary a big as a girl and remembered that he was there to play a game. He turned to the rows of boxes, chose one, numbered 17, pointed his wand and said "Incendio!" Maybe you should take a seat, your legs are now wobbling uncontrollably, but you should be better in 15 minutes...I think.
((You may now modify your post and include whatever Skyler's reaction would have been if you wish to do so. )Almost immediately Skyler's legs started to wobble uncontrollably. He didn't feel comfortable on his feet so he sat down right where he was. He turned than to Will and said "I guess we'll be taking care of each other tonight." Skyler then looked down at his legs moving without his control and laughed. This was ridiculous!

Post by Williard Thoth R4 on Nov 10, 2007 20:25:01 GMT
Even though Williard had no reason to stay there, he thought Playing with Fire was a good game, and was really looking forward to seeing other people play it. It was probably more fun to watch than play in his opinion. His jaw almost dropped when a Gryfindor first year girl turned into a yellow canary. He stifled his laugh because he knew she must have been shocked and embarassed by her sudden transformation. Comparing his curse and hers, he now felt rather lucky.
But, the Gryfindor first year and Williard were the only two to recieve curses. A girl from Slytherin, who was obviously a sixth or seventh year, walked up, pointed her wand at a box, and set it ablaze, but nothing happened. Then, Williard thought her outcome lucky. He would've much perfered nothing at all as oppose to a hand clasping jinx. But, Kennedy did say that it would wear off in half an hour, and Merlin knows how long its been.
She began talking to the other boy standing beside Kennedy, but Williard didn't pay any attention. Suddenly, the Slytherin girl looked angry, and pointed her wand and set another box ablaze, but yet again, nothing happened, much to Williards disappointment. Of course he didn't want the girl to get cursed, but it would have been funny to see, and loads more exciting if she would have gotten a prize. He longed to see what things they had under those boxes.
The girl and the boy started talking again, and Williard jumped a bit when Skyler came out of nowhere.
"That stinks! We'd better stick together (no pun intended) tonight and I'll be your hands." said Skyler.
"They shouldn't be this way for too much longer." Williard said examining his hands. "Its supposed to wear off in half an hour and its already been--"
"Hey guys!" Skyler shouted. Williard followed his gaze to see him staring at the Slytherin girl and the guy that was, he now noticed by his tie and crest, was in there House. Skyler looked excited. "Mack are you going to sing a song for us tonight? That would be amazing! Alex, where have you been? I haven't seen you much in the common room."
Oh, so this is Alex, Williard thought. Skyler had briefly mentioned him and another girl named Ezzie when he first met Skyler and Elizabeth by the Black Lake. He said Alex was a nice person, and, he seemed like it.
Skyler then turned, picked a box, and set it on fire with his wand. Honestly Williard was hoping Skyler got a curse. Not like the Gryfindor girl, who was now turning back to normal, but one really simple like his. Just then, his hands broke apart, and Williard only just caught his wand. He returned it to his pocket, and flexed his fingers, waiting for whatever that was going to happen to Skyler.

Post by Celia Richmond on Nov 10, 2007 22:08:13 GMT
Celia picked up the supplies for her stall, and made her way outside. Today was the day of the bonfire carnival, and as a prefect Celia had to set up a stand. She was looking forward to it, and had been exclted all day-she hoped her stall would be popular, and that people would like what it had in store. She was keeping it a secret from everyone, apart from the people organising it and the other prefects-she had to make sure that none of them were doing the same thing. Celia walked into the fair, before she went to set up her own stand. She saw that Promise and Kennedy had already set up their own stall, and went over to see what was making it so popular. She saw that it was something called "Playing with Fire" which sounded quite fun. She hoped that she wouldn't get anything too bad, or anything that would last too long-she had a stall of her own to get set up, afterall. Well, she had someone else to help her with it, so it wouldn't be a total disaster either way. She made her way to the front and looked around to see what numbers were left. She wanted box 17, seeing as she was 17, but that was already taken. So she put the boxes she was carrying on the floor, and looked for BOX 34, seeing as that was still a multiple of 17. She saw that it was still available, and pointing at it shouted "incendio" and waited for her prize, if there was one. She looked at the other people that had already played, and saw that a first year boy had had his hands stuck together, and a first year girl had been turned into a canary. She also saw Mack there-not surprising really-and saw that she looked rather annoyed. She suspected that she's got no prizes so far. Either that or something rather bad that had already worn off. Box 17 had been opened by another 1st year boy, but no prizes had been recieved yet. Congrats! You won a broom polishing kit with scented polishing oils.
((You may now modify your post and include whatever Celia's reaction would have been if you wish to do so. ))Celia was very excited with her prize! A brand new broom polishing kit! Wityh scented oils! Very fitting, seeing as she'd just made the Ravenclaw quidditch team, and hence needed to get her broom in good shape. She hadn't yet played in a match, but there was one coming up apparently, so it couldn't've come at a better time. Except she'd have to find somewhere to put it when she was doing her own stall. Amidst her excitement, she noticed that from box 17 came a wobbly legs curse, which she was thankful not to recieve. A younger Hufflepuf boy had arrived and had sprouted antlers, from box 4, a Slytherin boy had opened an empty box, and Kody, whom she knew from BBBS, had won a pack of exploding snap cards. She congratulated him, and laughed at the Hufflepuff boy. She barely knew him, but she'd seen him around and guessed that he'd find it more amusing. His friends certainly did. Another thing she noticed was that Mack was blatentely jealous of her. They weren't exactly on the best of terms to start with, seeing as they're in, to some extent, rival houses, and the fact that not long ago Celia had shared a sunset with her boyfriend Promise, not that it meaned anything. If anything, it was his fault that they were on bad terms. It was Promise that joined her in the courtyard, not the other way round, and he was the one running the "Playing with Fire" game, not her. Celia wasn't remotely interested in Promise, and she knew that even if she was she'd be all but wise to chase him...Mack was a girl she would not want to get on the wrong side of, if at all avoidable.

Post by Kennedy Valak S6 on Nov 10, 2007 23:11:19 GMT
The night had started off somewhat slow, and then Kennedy saw Mack approaching. She shared a few words with Alex and then tried her luck at the game. When she burned the box that she had selected and was the first person to find an empty one, Mack seemed to be a little upset. Kennedy had to hold back his laughter as she questioned whether or not she could try again. Before even being able to answer though, Mack had set another box on fire, and ironically it was empty as well. "Somebody has rotten luck," Kennedy said with a grin. He could have sworn Mack gave him a glare, but he knew that even if she did that it wasn't completely serious. She was likely just happy to be able to see Alex and realize that the night had been rather calm so far, meaning that she wouldn't have much patrolling to really have to worry about.
After Mack, Kennedy saw two other students come up at the same time. The first was a younger boy who seemed to know both Alex and Mack. Kennedy watched him cast the incendio spell, and it wasn't long before he realized that the younger boy had unlocked the third curse of the night. His legs started to wobble, and had it not been rather funny, Kennedy might have felt bad that everyone was getting the curses instead of the prizes. At least Mack could be glad to get nothing as opposed to a curse. He did think it would be funny though to see if Alex would laugh or fight back the laughter so that Mack wouldn't get upset.
The next student, Kennedy recognized. It was a fellow prefect, Celia Richmond from Ravenclaw. She cast the spell, and for once there wasn't a curse, nor an empty space. Celia had won the first prize of the evening. Kennedy levitated the contents over to Celia, somewhat jealous of what she had won. As a member of the Quidditch team, Kennedy would have enjoyed the polishing kit. "I guess the fire gods must like you," he said with a nod as Celia took her gift. "Congrats for being the first actual winner."

Mack scowled and tucked her wand away when she, once again, received nothing. It was a very upsetting concept that she couldn't win anything, be it a curse or something nifty. She hated the fact that she had such bad luck with chance. A game of chance was never Mack's forte. She always had difficult with it because she seemed to choose the wrong things. Making her game of a chance a little bit... less of a chance. She didn't really take chances if she was always going to end up with the same result and so what exactly would the point of a game of chance be? None. There was no point. Mack sent a glare toward Kennedy when he mentioned having rotten luck, "Or perhaps I just don't have luck - bad or good." She continued to glare at him, playfully, before turning to Alex and slipping her hand into his, linking their fingers. She couldn't stand to be too close to him without holding his hand at least. She was about to say something more when Skyler, a first year in Alex's house, walked up and decided to try the game. She smiled a friendly smile at the first year and then shook her head; "Alas, no, it would appear they don't need washed out singers to sing at events such as these. No worries, though, I've not forgotten the concert I've promised you. I'll play at your birthday or something." She laughed and then rested her head on Alex's shoulder, thinking about that day in the student lounge. That had been an amusing day. Mack hadn't ever really felt like a star while she was one, so it had been ironic that she had been treated like one when she wasn't one. A chuckle escaped her as she watched Skyler choose a box and light it on fire. Just as he did that, Celia walked up to the activity. Celia was a Prefect in Alex's year, so that meant they had patrolled together at least once... in fact, it had been recently that Alex had spent a couple of minutes watching the sunset with her. Mack's light hearted smile turned into a small scowl as she closed her eyes, resisting a roll. It wasn't the fact that he was spending time with the girl, it was the fact that they had shared a sunset - a sunset that is usually seen as a romantic thing; something you should share with someone you love not with someone who just happened to be in the same year as you. She squeezed Alex's hand and watched as Celia picked a box (which just so happened to be the one below Mack had chosen!) before letting her gaze drift over to Skyler whose legs had started to wobble. She laughed quietly, "Wow, now that's rotten luck." As she spoke, Kennedy presented Celia with her prize, and Mack scowled even more. She wasn't jealous... or perhaps she was jealous, but she couldn't help it. After a moment, Mack stood up straight and kissed Alex before taking her hand back, saying, "I've got to head back to patrolling, I'll come back as often as I can. Maybe then I'll try again and will actually get something." Her smirk dimmed slightly and she waved bye to everyone else before turning and heading toward the bonfire. ((No offence meant, Celia she's just jealous.))

Wahay, Bonfire night had finally arrived! It was Billy's favourite time of year-Halloween, Bonfire night, less than 2 months till Christmas-it was fab! It was the best time to pull pranks on people. And he got to dress up in his amazing skeleton costume...clinging to the walls and then scaring any unsuspecting first years. It was a time he could have a lo9t of fun with Rex, and usually Rex alone-Stace wasn't interested in all this larking about stuff that Billy and Rex did at this time of year especially. And besides, Billy was grateful for his time alone with Rex-he'd had enough of Stace when they'd gone to Italy together not that long ago. But tonight, they would not be alone-Stace had decided to join them. They had arranged to get ready and then meet up in the entrance hall before going out to the carnival in the grounds. It was gonna be fun, from what he'd heard-all the prefects had to do something, so there was a lot going on. As they entered the carnival area, the first thing that caught his eye was a group of people around something called "Playing with Fire". In Billy's eyes, it sounded fun, so they all made their way over to the stall, wondering what exactly it was. It looked amusing-a young girl looked like a canary, a boy had his hands clasped together and another boy had wobbly legs. And yet there was an older girl who had won a broom polishing kit-so it wasn't all bad! Billy looked up at the rules. It sounded as fun as it looked. Just a game of chance, more than anything. He saw that all the earlier boxes were still there-the lowest being 15 that had been taken. He decided to go for BOX 4 seeing as he was in his 4th year, and cast incendio at it, wondering what his prize, or indeed curse would be, if he got anything at all. he could see Rex next to him, looking at the game, wondering whether he should play, and Stace, looking slightly disapprovingly at it...she was probably scared she'd get cursed or something. You’ve just sprouted antlers! They’re only temporary though, so don’t hurt yourself!
((You may now modify your post and include whatever Billy's reaction would have been if you wish to do so. )Billy was surprised when nothing seemed to happen at first when he opened the box. He was disappointed-he wanted something to happen, even if it was a curse-at least that would be funny. It wasn't long, however before he felt a pain in the top if his head-something was growing out of the top. If only he could see above his head. It must be funny, whatever it is, as everyone was laughing. Luckily someone handed him a mirror so he could look at himself-he had sprouted a pair of antlers! He couldn't help laughing at how stupid he looked. Not that he really cared-if he'd thought of the idea and thought he'd get away with it he would have been giving the first years antlers all week. So he went and stood back as Rex took his turn.

Valmer walked into the area that the bonfire was being held at, searching the crowd for someone he knew. He didn't see anyone, and then he spotted Kennedy over by the actual fire. He was promoting some kind of game, and Valmer wanted to see what all the rumpus was about. He walked over to the fire, read the rules, and snickered. What a childish game. No chance for strategy. What's the fun in that? he thought to himself. Oh well, can't hurt to try.He looked at the boxes, and picked the very last one, BOX 50, and waited to see what would happen. He hoped he had picked a good box, and not one of those darned curses. As the box opened, his eyes widened, realizing there was nothing in there. "WHAT?" he exclaimed. "What's up with that? I think I need to try this again, that wasn't a good box." Valmer eyed the boxes, and picked low. Box 18. "This one's a good one, I feel it." ((The box was empty. You may now modify your post and include whatever Valmer's reaction would have been if you wish to do so. )
Box 18 is also empty. What is it with these Slytherins and the blatant disregard for the rule of only one box per student?

Kody enjoyed walking in the night, particularly if it was chilly out. He ran after a few of his friends ahead of him, and as they sped past the bonfire, Kody slowed down to a stop, right in front of Kennedy Valak. He had been looking forward to the bonfire, and searched for a few of his other friends, if they were near the actual fire. They weren't, but he wanted to play anyway. He read the rules and picked his box. BOX 48. That's it. Let's see what I get.Congratulations, you've just won a New Exploding Snap Game Pack!

Williard had to put his newly free hand over his mouth to cover his smile. He didn't want to laugh at Skyler's leg curse, considering Skyler didn't laugh at him when his hands were stuck together, but Williard couldn't help it. Plus, Williards curse wasn't nearly as funny as this one. Well, Williards reaction when his hands clasped together suddenly probably would have been comical, but other than that it really wasn't that amusing.
Skyler fell to the ground while his legs continued to wobble uncontrollably. "Do you need any help?" Williard asked. Suddenly, he couldn't hold it in. He burst opened. He let himself laugh uncontrollably. Freely. It felt wonderful. Williard had never laughed so hard in his entire life. This was the most fun Williard had with someone other than his mum and dad. He felt tears filling his eyes, the top of his throat starting to ache, and he grabbed his newly aching side.
Williard couldn't wait to visit the other stands. Bonfire Night suddenly felt lik an amusement park to Williard. He couldn't wait to visit every stand here. Looking over, he saw that a refreshment stand was up, and his throat hurt terribly from laughing. He looked back down at Skyler.
"What do you say we go and get some pumpkin juice after your legs settle down?"
If only Elizabeth were here to see this, Williard thought. Where was she?

Sophia was late. She was being organised, she had just underestimated the length of time this Potions essay would take her.She should've known better, seeing as that was often the case-she just didn't click when it came to potions. She hated it, it hated her. She hated Snape, Snape hated her. Or thought she was a complete idiot at least. Herbology was her main strength-Professor Sprout was great. As was the Arithmancy professor, Sophia's other favourite subject. Snape was her worst by far, and although she hated DADA, Foxcroft wasn't too bad. She was just a wuss, and that's the end of it. Charms and Transfiguration were...not so bad...she hoped to pass them. Same with Astronomy. COMC and History of Magic were also pretty good-she hoped to do well in them. But that was another story, as Sophia finished her essay, packed it all up and grabbed her cloak. Tonight was the Bonfire celebration, which she expected would be fun. Everyone would be there. As she made her way over there, she saw the crowds-there were games, souvenirs, refreshments...all sorts! Her eye was caught by "Playing with Fire"...which was apparently something about burning boxes to get prizes. She walked up to it, wondering if she'd win anything, or get a curse... Firstly, she needed to decide what number box to choose. Being an Arithmancer, she thought that her character number would be the best choice, hopefully bringing her luck. She had been doing Arithmancy for long enough to know that hers was 9. Which is the number box she chose, seeing as it was free. ((Box 9 is empty. You may modify the post to include what Sophia's response would have been if you wish to do so. )

Skyler continued to laugh at his plight as Williard burst out laughing. This was ridiculous, but there was nothing to be done except wait for the curse to be over with. He chuckled as his legs come very close to knocking over Williard. "Sorry about that," Skyler apoligised to Williard. "As you can see though, I have no control over them." This was fun. Skyler had to admit that. He had been a little hesitant to come out here and join in the festivities, but he was glad that he had. Skyler was so different as this semester came to a close than he was at the beginning of the summer. Then he probably would have sat in room reading the entire night. How boring that would have been. But that was who Skyler had been. He no longer felt that way. It was sometimes a vague thought in his mind. What had happened to his personality? He liked this new Skyler much better. It felt nice to talk with people and want to come to events like the Bonfire. Oh well, let sleeping dogs lie.
"I would love some pumpkin juice," Skyler responded to Williard. "Although, I think I'm going to need a lot of help from you." His legs had stopped thrashing about, but every once in a while they still acted on their own accord. He relied heavily on his hands to steady himself as he got up. "All right," he said to Will when he was standing. "Let's get something to drink." Leaning on Will for aid, the two of them set off for more adventures.

Arywiel approached the grid with boxes cautiously. She had just come from the sparkler stand and had been alarmed by the sound her charmed sparkler had made, cheering and honking, as if she was standing in a football stadium! Her ears were still buzzing and she felt a little busy, but delighted the way the night was running. She pushed past a few people standing around. A game with fire? A Hufflepuff fifth-year had been the last to burn a box, and there was nothing under it. A few other students had their hands glued together or had sprouted antlers. Ary decided to give it a try. She came closer. 27 was her lucky number. 27? 27 it was. Arywiel pointed her wand at 27 and yelled "incendio!" It burst into flame... ((Congratulations! You won an emerald jewelry set (earrings and matching pendant). You may now modify the post to include whatever Arywiel's response would have been to winning this amazing prize! )
