Maryn took a sharp breath in as Branden stepped in before the bludger could hit her. She turned to him and mouthed a thanks. She then headed to Ivy who had just caught the quaffle from Sophia. Maryn leaned forward on her broom as to gain speed. Maryn only had one thing on her mind. She had to steal the quaffle from Ivy. She wanted Gryffindor to at least get some points before the snitch was caught and the game was over. Maryn looked around. She couldn’t see Zara or Lenora. So, she gained speed wanting to get the quaffle and finally make a goal for Gryffindor. She headed toward Ivy, wanting to get close enough to steal the quaffle. ((Attempting to steal the quaffle from Ivy.)) Okay thanks Lenora. I was a bit confused. Yea Maryn attempting to steal the quaffle is fine.

((Maryn, I will attempt to intercept because you will be trying to steal since that’s what you posted first There is no need for you to post both because we all only get one action. If you would prefer to intercept let me know and I can change mine to steal.)) The score was still 0 – 0. That was something. At least Hufflepuff weren’t up and the game had really just begun. Sophia had now passed the quaffle to Ivy who was annoyingly active in this game despite the extreme number of bludgers the Gryffindor beaters seemed to be sending at her. Oh course in the past few years Lenora had discovered a thing or two about being a bludger target and now took it as a complement when they went after her; it meant she was doing something to annoy the other team. Lenora saw Maryn fly in to steal the quaffle from Ivy and positioned herself close to the pair to try and catch the quaffle should Ivy try to throw it. ((Intercept Ivy’s pass.))

Ivy smiled as she felt the Quaffle arrive safe in her fingers - the pass had been too tricky for Zara to intercept and so that made it a good one, in her opinion. Ivy also had possession of the Quaffle, for the first time in the game. Now it was time to put some distance between the Quaffle and the Hufflepuff goals. Ivy swerved round Zara and then dodged downwards - not the most advantageous direction to go in a game of Quidditch, but the most open area available in which to cover a good bit of distance that would force the Gryffindor team to pass if they did regain possession of the Quaffle.
Finally, she saw two things happening simultaneously - firstly, she was being approached by a Gryffindor Chaser (the only one who she hadn't already had a personal encounter with this game, Maryn), and secondly, she was being approached by a Bludger. Both were threatening her possession of the Quaffle, so she looked around for an open friendly Chaser to pass to and saw Harmony keeping pace with her. This seeming like the best option available to her, she attempted to throw the Quaffle with force in Harmony's direction and then attend to dodging the Bludger.

Harmony felt the wind knocked out of her by the Bludger, causing her to reel forwards and away from Maryn. Yelping from the heavy impact, Harmony looked up to see Branden, a sixth year and one of the two Gryffindor Beaters, and cursed herself for not having noticed him. Behind her whilst she was distracted, Maryn flew away, alarming Harmony as she followed her tail, albeit shakily from the Bludger attack. Wondering how long it would remain nil all to both teams, Harmony whooped when Ivy was rewarded the Quaffle from Sophia. Luckily any interceptions attempted by the red team failed. Feeling Maryn streak away from the air movement in her face, Harmony turned her broom around and mimicked her again. It seemed Maryn was going to try and steal the Quaffle. Well, Harmony was having none of that! Hoping Weetzie or Ashley would send a Bludger Maryn's way, Harmony streamed ahead of Maryn in an attempt to a) block her opponent from stealing the Quaffle, and b) hope that Ivy would pass it to her. Harmony noticed a Bludger heading for Ivy, and sped up to near her fellow Chaser. "Ivy!" Harmony shouted loudly, throwing a hand up in the air to signal that she was free. Although Lenora Byers was shooting at them right now to intercept the pass, Harmony hoped she would get it.

Zara cursed under her breath when she failed to intercept the pass from Sophia to Ivy; now the Captain had the Quaffle. Shaking her head in annoyance, Zara readied herself for continuation of the match, not to be down-hearted by her mishap. Determined, Zara swooped her broom around and watched as Branden hit Harmony with a Bludger. Grinning wryly to herself, Zara quickly surveyed the other Chasers in mid-air. Although Harmony had been hit, she had recovered well to move forward and attempt to block Maryn, who appeared to be trying to steal the Quaffle from Ivy. Lenora had moved forward to intercept any pass made by Ivy, most likely to a speedy Harmony. This left only Sydney some way off. Zara flew through the cold morning air to join the sixth year girl, carefully shielding her from moving forward. If her fellow Chasers kept the other two busy, she would take care of the third one. Watching the scene before her with narrowed eyes, Zara wondered what the outcome would be to this scuffle. The four Chasers (and Beaters if they joined the fray) looked like they were in for an aerial brawl.

((Harmony, I am afraid we don’t have it anywhere in the rules where you can block other players from stealing so I will not be able to roll that now but it is a wonderful suggestion and we will have to find a way to work it into our new system for the next game.
Ivy tries to avoid the bludger. Branden = Bludger (D6 + Str) = 1 + 5 = 6 Ivy = Avoid (D8 + Dex) = 4 + 4 = 8
Ivy manages to avoid being hit by the bludger.
Maryn tries to steal the quaffle from Ivy. Maryn = Steal (D4 + Str) = 3 + 2 = 5 Ivy = Defend (D8 + Str) = 3 + 6 = 9
Ivy defends the quaffle and tries to pass to Harmony. Lenora attempts to intercept. Ivy = Pass (D6 + Dex) = 4 + 4 = 8 Lenora = Intercept (D4 + Dex) = 2 + 6 = 8
Tie! Re-roll.
Ivy = Pass (D6 + Dex) = 5 + 4 = 9 Lenora = Intercept (D4 + Dex) = 1 + 6 = 7
Ivy succeeds in passing. Harmony has the quaffle.))

((Oh, sorry about that. Thanks. I'm allowed to try and shoot now, aren't I, seeing as a pass has been made. If not, please tell me and I'll alter my post accordingly.)) Yes! Ivy had avoided that Bludger sent by Braden and outwitted Maryn; the red-haired Chaser had missed the opportunity to steal. Harmony breathed half a sigh of relief, but she couldn't feel completely relaxed and contented just yet; she still had to receive the pass Ivy was now trying to make, and the two of them had to avoid being intercepted by Lenora. Ivy threw the Quaffle to her, and Harmony spurted forwards with outstretched hands. Lenora was heading right at her, and with a determined push of her broom, Harmony felt her fingers close around the Quaffle and her body steer her broomstick upwards quickly, narrowly missing Lenora's arms. This was the first time Harmony had managed to get her hands on the red ball! Breathing the second half sigh of relief, Harmony allowed herself a small smile, tipped her head at Ivy in thanks, and without another thought shot ahead towards the goal posts, where Cassandra was floating ominously. Harmony felt the cold wind streak past her ears, numbing her skin from the icy sensations in the high altitudes. Below, she was aware of the crowds cheering and screaming. Harmony neared the goals, the three towering posts behind Cassandra. Her arm tightened around the Quaffle by her side, carefully guarding it. She knew that behind her flew several swift Chasers and Beaters, wary of anyone trying to steal the ball, or send a Bludger her way, but she could be faster than them - she knew she had to use this to her advantage. If she hesitated she would lose a golden opportunity. Slowing down her broom, Harmony looked left, right and centre in a split second, surveying Cassandra with narrow eyes, before launching the Quaffle at the middle post, the highest of them all. "Please." Harmony whispered as her hopeful eyes followed the journey of the Quaffle. "Please get in." ((Attempting to shoot.))

((Lenora or Maryn, I'm leaving either of you two to try to steal the Quaffle from Harmony if you want, mainly because Zara has low points in general and there isn't any point in her trying to square up against Harmony who has better stats; I'm afraid it would be a waste of a move from Zara, lol.))
Zara watched anxiously from the sidelines as the 'fight' ensued. Maryn went in to try and steal the Quaffle from Ivy, but the Captain outmanoeuvred her to pass to Harmony, who was free. Lenora took her turn in trying to intercept the pass, but Harmony got there first, causing Zara to groan inwardly. Now that Harmony had the Quaffle, the small but lithe Hufflepuff Chaser was likely to speed up the pitch like lightning and try and score. Due to her size (besides Arywiel, Harmony looked likely to be the smallest player), she was probably the fastest flyer, and Zara watched her quick progress towards Cass and the goals. She cast a cursory glance at Sydney behind her, knowing the sixth year would most likely stand back and watch her team mate try and score. There wasn't anything to do. Zara frowned and pulled away from her target, flying across the pitch to join the others, though not to involve herself in the likely fray ahead. She watched as Harmony readied herself for shooting, and hoped Lenora or Maryn would try to intercept; and if they didn't, Cass would save.

Still no Snitch. Scott was trying his best to maintain a positive attitude, but with each passing second that he failed to see the Snitch, he couldn't help but lose bits of hope. He needed to keep searching though because he knew that it could be hours before the Snitch actually showed up. A collective gasp from the crowd drew his attention to the far end of the pitch where he watched a Hufflepuff Chaser take another shot at the Gryffindor hoops. Scott held his breath as he watched to see if the shot would be blocked or not. At that same time, he thought again that he saw another glint of gold down by Cassandra. In a flash, he sped off to see if it was the Snitch or just another figment of his imagination.

Hufflepuff's performance was better than it had been in years, and while they didn't have the upper hand they were certinly putting a good fight up and it didn't llok like they were going to tire any time soon. Charles had a good feeling inhis gut about the game and his team's performance spurred him on and allayed his fears - he could do this, with every passing moment he was geeting closer to spotting the Snitch. He loked behind to assure himself that Scott hadn't seen anything then narrowed his eyes in concentration, feeling the bitter cold wind nipping at his hands and face.

Maryn shook her head as she couldn’t get the quaffle from Ivy. At least she had tried. She sped off after Ivy. She wanted to be near the action. As Ivy tried to pass to Harmony, Lenora tried to intercept, but it didn’t work and the quaffle went to Harmony. Maryn took a deep breath. Hufflepuff was playing a good match, but Gryffindor was trying their very best. Maryn then decided to chase after Harmony. Harmony was going to try and shoot so Maryn could at least try and steal the quaffle from her. If that didn’t work then it would all be up to Cass. Well, Cass was a good Keeper, so Maryn wasn’t too nervous. Maryn noticed Scott, the Gryffindor Seeker. C’mon Scott. She said to herself. If one of the Seekers caught the snitch now then the game would be over. Maryn still wanted to play. She wanted to score some points for Gryffindor. But, sometimes catching the snitch wins the game without the points being there. But, sometimes you can catch the snitch and not win the game. Maryn just wanted to win in whatever way they could. She sped up toward Harmony. Maybe she could steal the quaffle. Maybe.

((Actually Harmony it is 1 pass-less shot per team then that team must pass. Therefore since Gryffindor just passed their next shot does not require one. But since Hufflepuff’s last shot did not have a pass you must pass before you can shoot. Hufflepuff has already had one pass - Ivy passed to Harmony, so Harmony's attempt on goal does need to be rolled for this round.
As well, as tomorrow night is New Years Eve this will be another long round – ending on Tuesday, December 1, 2008.
Maryn attempts to steal the quaffle from Harmony. Maryn = Stealing (D4 + Str) = 3 + 2 = 5 Harmony = Defending (D8 + Str) = 3 + 5 = 8
Harmony retains the quaffle. Harmony must pass the quaffle but as there is no one intercepting the pass succeeds. Hufflepuff (please Harmony say who you pass to) have the quaffle.
Scott and Charles search for the snitch. Scott = Searching (D30) = 3 Charles = Searching (D30) =19

((Just so everyone knows, Harmony did make a pass Ivy not Harmony actually - but Hufflepuff did make a pass so Harmony can try to score (Yeah, that, sorry), so she is still trying to score. Madam Hooch has been notified. Whether or not she scores, Cass will still get the Quaffle. Izy has helped alter that in Madam Hooch's post, but I'll put it here as back up.
Cass, as for the choice between who you pass to, bear in mind Zara has low stat points, and would most likely be intercepted by someone successfully. I'm still happy for you to throw it to her, though.))
Zara watched as Maryn tried to steal the Quaffle from Harmony, but the little Hufflepuff Chaser nimbly surpassed Maryn, flew through the air, and launched the Quaffle at the goal. This was the second attempt from the opposing team to score so far; hopefully Cass would save it again. But it wasn't meant to be, as the Quaffle sailed past Cass and into the middle goal post. Groaning aloud, Zara heard the commentator's voice boom "10 points to Hufflepuff!". "Damnit." Zara muttered under her breath.
Cass had the Quaffle now. Zara tried to dispel the Hufflepuff lead from her mind and hovered to the side, wondering who here Captain would pass to. Lenora and Maryn were nearby, but Maryn as usual was being blocked by Harmony. The Hufflepuff team were frustrating Zara more and more; they were a good team, extremely competent. Would they be able to break them in time? Overhead, Zara was aware the Snitch had yet to be found. The game still went on.

As Harmony dived for the kill, Maryn tried to leap forward and obtain the red ball from her. Alarmed and reacting instinctively, Harmony delved her broom to the side, avoiding the red-haired Chaser's arms completely. The adrenaline of almost being attacked wearing off, Harmony wasted no time in continuing her efforts to shoot. For a split second before she thought she'd have been injured by Maryn, but that was the price to pay for Quidditch. Sometimes Harmony wondered how her personality suited Quidditch at all; but it was something she enjoyed doing anyway.
Harmony watched, holding her breath as the Quaffle soared at Cassandra. The Gryffindor Captain moved to try to save it, but Harmony's throw was strong. It passed Cassandra, and flew through the goal. Harmony laughed in delight and triumph. They had scored! She had scored! Hufflepuff were in the lead! Harmony heard the magnitude of appreciation from the Hufflepuff stands, and flipped in the air on her broom in happiness. "Yes." Harmony grinned.
Excitement over, Harmony moved back to cover Maryn's movements. Her eyes watched the Chaser extremely carefully. She wanted to block her since Cassandra had the Quaffle now, and was preparing to throw it to one of her three Chasers. Zara and Lenora were wide open, and Harmony hoped someone would cover them quickly, but she had Maryn to handle. The moment Cass released the Quaffle, one of Harmony's team would intercept. Harmony readied herself on stand by to steal the Quaffle if the interception failed.

Ashley panted quickly as she let her arm swing down to her side, her brown eyes scanning the pitch. Everything seemed fined. She couldn't make out any bludgers heading toward anyone, or any near by. Without even realizing it she saw Ivy dodge after a speeding bludger headed her way. Clenching her jaw tight, Ashley chased after the bludger. Find it, she moved next to it, swinging hard against the iron surface toward the Gryffindor Seeker.

Had Ivy been one for doing somersaults in the air and yelling in delight, she would have done that now - there was certainly plenty to be pleased about. She had dodged a Bludger (which for some reason neither of her Beaters had defended her from), she had held on to the Quaffle by sheer force, and she had successfully passed to Harmony, who had an almost clear run to the Gryffindor goalposts. But since she was not of such a temperament, she simply grinned and let her excitement and pleasure bubble away inside her, ready to be used as positive energy. She felt still more pleased as Harmony scored, and this time yelled her approval at the younger Hufflepuff, shouting "Well done!" Things had started to go Hufflepuff's way - only slightly, that was, but still, any advantage in a game of Quidditch was a wonderful thing psychologically for the morale of the team. Now they were showing their potential to everyone.
Still, she had to look to keeping the game going Hufflepuff's way. Looking to each member of the team, she smiled as she saw Charlie searching conscientiously, his Quidditch not just a spectator sport, but rather an active quest. She frowned, however, as she saw Weetzie seemingly inactive in her new position as Beater - it was clear what she would have to do. At least while a Keeper had the Quaffle was a good time to make the substitutions which she needed to make. She flew up to Madam Hooch and took a deep breath.
"Um... substituting Weetzie out, Professor. Sydney in as Beater and Kael Collins in as Chaser." With that, she turned about again and rejoined the match, hoping that the substitutions could be effected quickly.

Arywiel groaned as Harmony scored. She lapped the pitch, taking in as much as she could before the game got back into gear. Scott and Charles hadn't noticed the snitch yet and Cass had the quaffle. How could she not have defended the hoops? Ary swerved and lunged back downwards. 10-nil for Hufflepuff. Hopefully Gryffindor would get their act together soon. Gritting her teeth, she soared to a suitable position to swipe any oncoming bludgers at the Hufflepuff chasers. Lenora was being passed the Quaffle, so Ary drew up to her, propelling her bat in one hand and holding onto the broomstick with ferocious force with the other. Face set and jaw clenched, she barred the space between Lenora and potential oncoming bludgers. She was ready to block off any Hufflepuff chasers, should they dare try to intercept the pass.
