Sophia smiled as her pass to Harmony was successful. It was a close one though, and Lenora nearly managed to intercept it, but the main thing was that despite the attempt to steal, Hufflepuff were still in possession. The younger girl was now attempting to pass to Ivy, who undoubtedly would now try to score, against AJ who'd been substituted in as Keeper.
On the other hand, the bludger Melody had sent towards Sophia was luckily deflected towards Lenora by Bryce. She thanked Bryce when he flew past her, and continued to watch the game. The other bludger was also in play, with Bryce's hit towards Arywiel hitting her, though while she wasn't doing anything. Ashley was now attempting to hit it towards Branden. And while all this was going on, the sneekers were still looking for the snitch. Surely they'd find it soon, but as long as Hufflepuff were winning, and hopefully by 20 - 0 soon, she was happy with the game, whoever caught the snitch-though she willed Charlie to catch it soon!

Post by Maryn Livley on Jan 9, 2008 22:11:47 GMT
Maryn shook her head when Gryffindor didn’t make another goal. Man, Hufflepuff had a good team this year. Maryn raced to the area on her broom. They would just have to keep trying. Hufflepuff was in possession of the quaffle and Maryn was determined to get it. The game was going rather fast and some-what smoothly until Cass was accidentally hit by a player. She wasn’t hurt too badly, but she was asked to sit out for the rest of the match. Maryn was told to take care of the team for the rest of the match. She was the Vice Captain after all. So, for the rest of the match, it was up to Maryn to make different decisions for the team. Maryn looked at the players on the bench. Another player would have to fill in for Cass. Maryn flew to Madam Hooch. “AJ will be replacing Cass as Keeper.” She told Madam Hooch, before jetting off to get back to the game.
Harmony had the quaffle. Maryn tried her best to get to the action. She raced up to Harmony. Maybe it was possible to steal. Maryn knew that Harmony would want to pass soon. Maryn looked to AJ. She was sure that he would do a fine job, she was just concerned. After all, he was usually a reserve. However, Maryn had seen him play at practices and he always did a good job. She nodded to herself. This could work. Maryn raced after Harmony. She wanted to get that quaffle

Melody watched in anticipation as the Bludger approached Sophia. It was actually better than she'd hoped - it looked like the Bludger would arrive on target before the Hufflepuff Keeper had even released the Quaffle. Melody hoped that hitting a Bludger at the Keeper while they were in possession wasn't against the rules... anyway, it didn't matter, because the Hufflepuff Beater who'd rejoined the game at the same time as her defended the Keeper.
Melody was in the middle of deciding to feel philosophical about her failure when she realised that the seventh year had actually deflected the Bludger towards Lenora. Lenora was usually awe-inspiringly active and involved in the games, so Melody wasn't going to have her get hit on her watch! At least, not without her having tried to do something about it.
"Watch thyself!" Melody shouted at Lenora, the lungs of a singer still helping her to project the words to the Gryffindor Chaser despite the injury which she'd sustained in a previous year. She tried to get round to the other side of the Bludger so that she could deflect it again in someone else's direction. The Hufflepuff Captain perhaps - she seemed like a suitable target, especially since the Chaser in possession seemed to be approaching her. Melody swung at the Bludger, hoping that she would have sufficient power to deflect it.

The quaffle sailed passed Lenora, she just wasn't fast enough. Not fair! Though Lenora, knowing full well it was fair. More determined than before Lenora sped after the quaffle and cheered on Maryn who was trying to take the quaffle from Harmony. Suddenly Lenora noticed Melody fly in beside her, trying to protect her from a bludger. "Thanks, Melody!" Lenora called trying to get away from the spot all the same and intercept Harmony's next pass.

Apparently the Hufflepuff's knew how to play rough; their beaters did at least. Branden had been trying to keep an eye on Ashley and Bryce, and for good reason as Ashley suddenly hit a bludger in his direction. "Oi, you would do that to a mate?" He called to her with a wink as he swung his bat trying to get the ball away from him.

As Bryce flew with the Hufflepuff Chasers, he noticed that Branden was successful in defending himself from the Bludger. However, unlike what Bryce expected, Branden sent the Bludger in the opposite direction. It was flying at Sophia. Spinning in mid air, Bryce sped back in the same direction he had come from to try to stop Sophia from being hit. In the meantime, he saw that the Gryffindor Chasers were having a go at trying to slow down the Hufflepuff attempt to score. As Bryce neared the Bludger that was aimed in the direction of Sophia, he attempted to stop its progress while simultaneously sending it back in the direction of the Gryffindor Chasers, aiming for Maryn in particular.

In his search for the Snitch, Scott suddenly remembered a well-known move that many Seekers used that could trick the other Seeker into thinking that they had seen the Snitch. It was called the Wronski Feint. It wasn't something that Scott would normally do, but this game had seemed to be dragging out for so long, and he felt it needed a bit of change in speed or momentum. Not sure if Charles was even looking his way, Scott decided he would try the Wronski Feint, thinking that maybe in the process he might actually see the Snitch instead of just pretending to see the Snitch. With that, he tipped the nose of his broom downward and started to gain speed as he flew downward. At the last second possible (or perhaps a bit earlier than the last second possible as Scott was not practised with this move) he pulled up and sped just inches above the ground as though he were chasing after the Snitch. Instead of wondering if Charles had followed though, Scott kept his eyes darting back and forth, hoping that maybe he might really see the Snitch. ((Trying to find the elusive ball of gold. )

Ashley leaned back on her broom, her brown eyes watching as the bludger soared right at Branden. Raising her eyebrows at his remark she sighed as he deflected the bludger right toward Sophia. Racing forward, Ashley stopped noticing Bryce already had it covered. Gazing around the pitch, she watched as Harmony threw the quaffle in Ivy’s direction, the Hufflepuff chaser catching it. Grinning Ashley felt that Hufflepuff has a good chance at winning. Charles was in hot pursuing of the snitch, but so was the other Gryffindor seeker. Spotting a bludger that Lenora had just dodged, Ashley zoomed forward toward it, swinging hard at the ball. The Gryffindor beaters were surely going to get a run for their money.

Ivy watched as the Gryffindor Vice Captain made quite a poor attempt at trying to steal the Quaffle from Harmony - perhaps she was a bit fazed by suddenly being in charge. Ivy knew that Ash wouldn't be if she herself were to be somehow incapacitated, but then again she had complete faith in her friend, and there was a slight difference between the confidence one had in fifth year, before they knew that they had their OWLs safely that couldn't be taken away from them, and the confidence that a seventh year about to move on to the next stage of life had in a place that they'd been playing the rules of for seven years. At least, Ivy thought so. But now Harmony was actually passing - she'd shouted to Ivy to alert her of that fact (really, why did everyone keep on talking about heads?).
Of course, this also alerted the Gryffindor Chasers, and soon enough Lenora had dived in between them, despite having just had to dodge a Bludger. There wasn't all that much that Ivy could do now that the Quaffle was in the air but hope that Harmony's pass would elude the Gryffindor. It did indeed, the Quaffle's path a bit higher than Lenora had perhaps anticipated. Nevertheless, it had still been a rather close shave and Ivy was glad to feel the Quaffle safely enclosed in her hands. She kept it clasped tightly to her chest, not wanting to give any of the Gryffindors a chance to steal successfully. This Quaffle was on its way to the Gryffindor goalposts now! She didn't know how good the new Keeper hovering there, another sixth year, was, but she intended to make the throw nice and fast this time so that he hopefully wouldn't have the time to save it.

Hufflepuff still had the quaffle, as Harmony's pass to Ivy was successful, and Maryn's attempt to steal was rather poor. It looked as though Ivy would now shoot, and hopefully score for the Hufflepuff team. The good thing about being a keeper was that although she had to pay attention to the quaffle at least and be prepared to swerve away from bludgers, most of the time she could just watch the game and take it all in, though it was somewhat hard to see what was happening at the other end of the pitch.
Speaking of being aware of bludgers, Sophia noticed that Branden had, once again, hit the bludger that Ashley had hit at him away, and towards Sophia. As the black ball zoomed towards her, Sophia readied herself to dodge it. Luckily Bryce was trying to defend her and would hopefully hit it away, but she was still aware of the danger. The other bludger was hit by Bryce towards Lenora, but unfortunately it missed her. And the seekers were still frantically searching for the snitch.

Arywiel watched the course of the Quaffle, biting her lower lip. Her attempt at scoring had done more bad than good. Cursing under her breath, she circled the game. AJ was now in. Ary threw a longing look at Cass. How could she be out for the whole game? Hufflepuff had the Quaffle and things were going well for them. Arywiel cursed as Ivy headed towards the Gryffindor goalposts. Ary sped up and tried to tackle the Hufflepuff. She reached for the Quaffle...

Charles was beginning to feel tired now, and that increased his frustration. He simply could not give up now, but against his will he flew slower hoping the tiredness would fade away and he'd regain his energy. Then he saw a sight that almost made him fall off his broom: Scott going into a dive. Charles flew with all his might in the same direction but he couldn't see the Snitch, gritting his teeth as he pushed himself to the maximum hoping against hope he'd be the first to get to the - damn! Scott had just fooled him. Charles swore and swerved as he pulled up from the dive, the muscles in his arms protesting at the strain, and he flew to the edge of the pitch almost completely out of breath.
His face was as red as a tomato and the slightest effort was causing him pain, but he continued his search at a slow pace. He kept a weary glance on Scott, but he hadn't noticed the Snitch either. Keeping out of the way of Bludgers Charles looked all around him, his breath now coming back and thoughts of the Wronksi Feint pushed to the back of his mind as he tried to regain his focus.

Melody severely misjudged her timing and swung her bat long before the Bludger whistled past. She watched it go with some dismay, shouting to Lenora, "Thoo're on thy own!" with burning shame. Thankfully, her inadequacy was well made up for by Lenora, who managed to swerve away from the Bludger and still try to intercept the Quaffle. Melody was more worried when she saw what happened to the Bludger next - Ashley Hill from the opposing team swooped up and lobbed it at someone. Who exactly, Melody wasn't sure until she traced its course and realised that it was heading for their Seeker. At such a crucial time of the game as this, she really couldn't let that happen - she would just have to be up to the job this time!
"BLUUUUUDGER!" She yelled to Scott, sorry to give him any distraction from his very important job, but yet feeling it necessary. She herself hurtled towards the iron ball, trying to hit it away from their Seeker and back in the direction it had come from.

Maryn was attacking! The Chaser Harmony had marked for the majority of the game so far was speeding at her with determination. Alerted to the danger, Harmony swerved to avoid Maryn's outstretched arms. She simply couldn't allow the Gryffindor to steal the Quaffle! This red ball was very precious throughout any Quidditch match - the golden Snitch more so. Harmony wondered vaguely about how Charles was doing, but evidently, since the crowd was reacting only to the Chasers' movements, nothing was happening amongst the Seekers.
Glad that Maryn was out of her hair, Harmony shouted Ivy's name and flung the Quaffle at her, the path apparently clear. However, seconds later Lenora came from nowhere and flew to intercept the pass. Harmony held her breath, but thankfully the Quaffle made it to Ivy's arms; the Captain caught it and Harmony grinned. "Go on, Ivy!" Harmony shouted in excitement, knowing the older girl planned on shooting now. However, realising she was not making herself useful, Harmony noticed Maryn from the corner of her eye and moved in front of her again to block her from any moves. This meant she couldn't try to steal the Quaffle from Ivy.

AJ watched as the game unfolded beofre his eyes. The quaffle kept moving as people stole and intercepted, but AJ kept his eye on the ball. Suddenly, he noticed one chaser who was one of the Captains of the team heading towards the goal posts. AJ figured since she was the captian of the team, she must have been really good. He focused himself and positioned himself so he could save should she try to score. AJ was confident he could do it though. That quaffle was not going to pass those goal posts.

AJ almost fell off his broom as he reached for the Quaffle. He outstretched his hands to catch it just as it left Ivy's fingertips, but missed by only inches. AJ turned around in dismay to see that the Quaffle had once again been hurled into the Gryffindor goal post. He sighed heavily and muttered a curse word or two under his breath. He retrieved the Quaffle and looked around the pitch to see who was open. He passed the large red ball to Lenora. Ashley’s eyes narrowed on the soaring iron bludger as it headed straight toward its target relentlessly. The youngest Gryffindor beater had taken over defending Scott, deflecting Ashley’s bludger away from the seeker. Cursing inaudibly under her breath, she turned her head at the roaring sound of the Hufflepuff stands. Ivy had just soared a goal, which led them up to 20 to nothing. Hufflepuff was getting a good start. Noticing the bludger was heading her way, Ashley’s eyes grew wide again, scooting back on her broom to give her enough amble time. Just as it neared, she swung her beater’s bat hard, hoping to deflect yet another bludger away from her and toward the nearest target; the Gryffindor Keeper.

AJ searched around for the position of the Quaffle, making sure he was ready this time in case Hufflepuff tried to score again. In looking for the Quaffle, AJ noticed a bludger heading straight for AJ. He looked around quickly to see who had hit it, and noticed one of the female beaters with their bat poised in the air, watching to see if the bludger hit. AJ swerved out of the way, hoping he wouldn't get hit. Gryffindor coldn't afford to loose another keeper.
