Richard walked into the Ravenclaw Common Room, and sat down happily. It had been a fantastic day. He had made two new friends, which was fantastic for him. That made his total friend count at Hogwarts...two. But he was excited; because of his extreme shyness he found it really hard to talk to new people and make friends, but he found it extremely easy to talk to Patrica and Rachel. It was just too bad they were in Slytherin and couldn't be in the Common Room right now. But that was OK, he would see them tomorrow.
He looked around the room at the other Ravenclaws and then suddenly felt his shyness come again. Should he talk to someone now? Maybe make a friend in Ravenclaw? He wondered if there would be someone who was willing to talk to him. He lowered his eyes and tried to decide who looked like they wouldn't mind being interrupted. He didn't really want to go up to someone who was busy. Looking at the ground, he hoped someone would come up to him.

Rayne pushed the covers off of her and climbed out of bed. Laying around all day moping wasn't going to help anything all it did was make her seem emo and she didn't need people accusing her of that on top of everything else. Rayne sighed and checked her appearance in the mirror. Her clothes were crumpled and her hair was as bushy as ever. There was nothing she could do about her clothes she would have to iron them and that was too much effort at the moment. She didn't have the will to do anything really intricate with her hair either so she just ran a brush through it and pulled it into a ponytail. Deciding there was nothing more she was willing to do to since all she wouldn't be leaving the common room she made her way downstairs.
Once downstairs she saw that there were a lot more people in the room then she had hoped. Luckily for her most of the people in the room were too busy studying or talking to someone else. Except for one boy who looked like he wanted to talk to someone but was too scared to do so. Since he was the only one who seemed to be alone Rayne walked up to him. "Hey mind if I sit here?" She asked pointing to the seat next to him.

"No, of course not. Sit down, please," Richard said quickly. He looked up at the girl; she was in his year, he was pretty sure, but he didn't know her name. "I'm Richard Dermont," he said, sticking out his hand while he blushed profusely. He hated being this shy, it made him seem so weak and dysfunctional. Trying to be more confident, he cleared his throat. "It's really nice to meet you." Richard smiled at her, and pushed a stray strand of sandy blonde hair off his face. "What's your name?"

Rayne smiled as Richard quickly accepted to let her sit there. He seemed extremely shy like most of the people she had met so far. In a way it was kind of cute but at the same time it kind of irked her. Of course she didn't have room to judge she had been hiding in her room for the past two days and that was about as weak as you could get.
Rayne shook Richards offered hand "Nice to meet you Richard. My name is Rayne Hamilton. So what are you doing sitting here all alone my friend?"

"Pleased you meet you, Rayne. Well, to tell you the honest truth, I'm sitting here alone because I don't have anyone to sit with," he said. He widened his eyes at his boldness. Maybe his new confidence came from having spent the day with some friends, but he hoped it didn't sound too...crass. He started to blush. "I'm sorry, that sort of came out wrong. I don't really have any real friends in Ravenclaw. My friends are in Slytherin," he said, his shyness returning. Rayne was really friendly, and he liked her. He just hoped he wasn't ensuring she would never talk to him again. "What about you?" He asked. Then, realising that the question might seem random, he continued. "I mean, where are your friends?" Then he cringed. He was not sounding very intelligent at all.
