"I'm by the fire, Pyro" Ash thought, she was thinking of her new friend, Pyro, she always thought of things she could be doing or people she could be talking to when she was bored, going to the owlery flitted through her mind. "I COULD be going to the owlery," she thought, but she wasn't going to, she had a feeling Pyro would come. That was good.
Her new "correspondent's" nickname/codename was Vlite, all her "correspondents" had nicknames, that way if the owl was intercepted the person couldn't be tracked, or it was harder to anyway. "I COULD be telling Vlite the news and, well asking a few things."
After a while Ashakiran's mind returned to Pyro, she wished he would hurry up and come, not that they had arranged anything. She kind of wished a mini version of Pyro would always be there to calm her down, she'd recently figured out that was why she'd calmed down in the student lounge. Because of Pyro. "Pyyyyy-rooooo"

Early in the day the sun had been out. A slight breeze was blowing, and the air smelled fresh. It had been a perfect day for an exercise session out in the courtyard. About an hour into his routine the storm clouds started to roll in, but Pyro didn't care. The first few drops of rain started to come down, but again, Pyro didn't care. He was working up a good sweat today as he perform many kicks, dips, turns, and jumps. He had performed this routine many times and could do it with his eyes closed. Luckily he managed to finish it just before it started to pour, and pour it did. The rain came down so heavily it appeared as it if it was just a single sheet of water. He stood there for a moment, allowing the water to run over his shirtless body and wash away the sweat he had collected. He reached back and pulled out his hair tie and allowed the braid in his hair to unravel.
Grinning and soaking wet he collected his bag and made his way back to the castle. Once inside he opened his bag and searched for a towel, only to find that his bag had been soaked through, so the towel wouldn't do much. Pyro frowned slightly and continued on his way, drops of water falling from his bangs and hands and a small steady stream flowing from his wet hair down his naked back. He made the trek to the Common room effortlessly, almost able to recreate the whole trip with his eyes closed. He was presented with the suit of armor and absently told it the password and entered the common room.
He noticed the room was completely empty, save for one person sitting by the far. With a closer look Pyro recognized the person as Ash, a girl he had met earlier. He moved over to her, not making any sound in his approach and easily leaned on the back of the couch behind her. She talked to herself, and apparently she was waiting for him. "Talking to yourself. Now theres a way to appear sane." He said breaking the silence.

Ash grinned when Pyro said something to the effect of people will think you're crazy, "nah, probably not, like you I'm known by reputation so it probably won't be an issue" she looked up at him, " MY reputation is probably similar to your's, you know, the usual, death eater, influence on the goverment, good at dark arts, not a good one to mess with et cetra et cetra? Yes?"

Pyro couldn't help but smirk at her response. "Hold on a second." He said as he pushed off the couch. He made his way upstairs into his dorm and tossed his bag aside and picked up a new towel. Tossing the towel onto his head he began his way back downstairs, toweling off his wet hair and upper body as he went. He made sure to grab a shirt too on his way and slung it over his shoulder. He stepped back into the common room and hopped over the couch and sat down near Ash. "So, you think my reputation is like yours? And yet we hardly know each other." He chuckled at her list of possibly reputation avenues.
"Well, I suppose it all depends on who you ask really. Now my cousin, she probably will hit the closest to the mark with her view on my reputation." He sighed, "Now, my father was" He did the quotations thing with his fingers. "A Death Eater, though he never admitted to it. But I wasn't blind, i was able to see those late night visitors and what they stood for." He chuckled. "With that kind of an upbringing you'd think I'd turn out the same way. I suppose I did a little." Suddenly a twinkle appeared in his eye. "Only thing is, I despise Death Eaters."
He sighed and leaned back, tossing the towel behind him onto the floor, the house elfs would get it later. "As for government, I don't much care for the government. As long as they stay out of my way and keep their noses out of my business. I'll continue to get along fine with them." Pyro stood for a short second so that he could slip on his loose long sleeved shirt over his head and let it fall onto his body. "I suppose I'm fair at the Dark Arts, though Cass would say other wise, but my true skill lies in my physical prowess." He grinned. "I didn't learn martial arts for nothing."

"I bet you didn't, Cass is your---" was it Cass his girlfriend? Or someone else?" girlfriend?" Hmm this might be dodgy ground, ah well, she'd like to know who'd taken a fancy to him, "or was that someone else?" she continued, "the grape vine's not brilliant for that for other things it's a marvel though," once again she didn't realise her head was going down and once again she lifted it and stared into Pyro's eyes, she was occluding not sure if he could legilimize or not but not wanting to risk him finding out what was going on inside her ead behind her eyes.

Pyro arched his eyebrow as he waited for Ash to find the correct word to describe Cass. He couldn't help but burst out laughing at her conclusion. "No, no. Cassandra is my cousin. She is housed in Gryffindor." He chuckled a little, although Ash hadn't been that far from the truth. Back in their third year Cass and Pyro had no idea that they were related. In fact they didn't even know that Cass was a pureblood, and a relationship almost started between them. Looking back on it now Pyro could see that he had dodged a bullet with that one. He sighed "No, my Girlfriend is Alexandra Ricci. Though at the moment she is angry with me and is avoiding me."
He sighed, it was true that Alex was made at him. After the stunt that Cass had pulled, getting Kennedy to search his room and find evidence that Pyro was part of a secret underground group. The lie had nearly torn Pyro and Alex apart. Luckily Pyro had managed to put a bandage on that wound and fix things. It seemed though that Alex still needed some time alone. Pyro looked at Ash's eyes for a moment. A suspicious feeling slowly starting to creep into his bones. She was taking extra care to keep her eyes locked on his.
suddenly a new thought struck him. She had been waiting for him, here at this very spot without even setting up a meeting, and she had not yet spoken her purpose. He sighed and leaned back. "So Ash, its clear that you were waiting for me." He placed his hands behind his head and shut his eyes. "Is there a reason for this? Or do you make it a habit to hang around and wait for random boys?"

Ash's heart lept when she heard him say his girlfriend was angry with him, Alexandra Ricci eh? Ash wondered if he could get away with killing this girl and have Pyro fall in love with her, probably not, she didn't really want to kill her anyway.
Glad to have a reason to talk about something that wasn't really related with "sudden adjustments", Ash replied,"oh I felt like someone to talk to and you seemed nice so I kinda just sat here and waited," oh no she was back to feeling awkward again, ah well.
What was a subject quite unrelated but one that she could use to find out more about Pyro, Ricci and what was going on between them? "Why do you like Quidditch?"

Pyro eyed her curiously. Something about this different feel quite right. "You just sat here in hopes that I'd walk by? That takes and extreme case of luck." This girl was very intriguing, and Pyro liked intrigue. Ash had caught his interest, he decided to give her a chance. He leaned back against the cushions and stared into the fire.
He thought over her question for a few seconds. "Quidditch?" He shrugged. "Its physical. I always believed that a wizards greatest weakness was their dependency on magic. If they keep using magic for everything, their body's grow weak and wither away. I always vowed I wouldn't be like that. So I took up Quidditch as a way to keep in shape."

Noticing Pyro's question of how it takes an awful bit of luck to have someone you want to pass by do it she explained with a shrug, "I don't know. I guess i felt, sensed, that you were coming by."
So Pyro thought wizards and witches had a weakness by depending on magic. That was interesting if she thought about it, maybe she should try it? Would it impress him? Were Ricci and him going to get back together?
Ash suddenly remembered Pyro had said he hated death eaters. Better not give him wind of the fact she was disappointed the dark lord had died because it meant she couldn't get the mark. Do I really want the Mark? People say it makes you a slave, do I want that? Do I? I don't like being someone else's play thing or their slave. Do I want to serve someone who'll crucio me for my troubles? No, she didn't. Not ever. Maybe it was lucky the dark lord had died. Maybe.
"Better not let Father here I'm wondering whether it's a good thing the dark lord died or not," she thought out loud, "nooooo, that would be a bad idea." Realizing he might tell someone though she'd be heartbroken if he did she seized him, firmly but gently and whispered pleadingly, "please don't tell Father I'm wondering, please."

Pyro found his eyebrow arching once again. She sensed that he was going to be coming by? He decided to let that comment slip by and didn't respond to it. He was never one for that deep emotional stuff, or one for divination or anything of its properties. He watched her carefully though, she appeared to be lost in her own thoughts. This girl was curious and odd. Try as he might Pyro wasn't able to read her that well, he hated that. His greatest strength came in being able to read and guess his opponents moves. So when he came to an individual he wasn't able to read, it turned out to be a very interesting experience to him.
Suddenly she spoke and Pyro nearly jumped. He looked at her and noticed her expression hadn't changed and he knew that what she had just said was an internal thought she had not meant to say out loud. He took in her statement nevertheless though. So, she was wondering if it was good or bad that Voldemort had died? Pyro could care less about the self proclaimed dark lord. His father had worked for the man and it looked like Pyro was destined to join in the business. Yet Pyro refused to be a servant to any man. Thinking back Pyro realized now that he was slowly turning out to be his father anyway, but there was a small business. Whereas his father had followed the dark lord, Pyro preferred to become one himself.
He viewed the death of the Voldemort as a good thing. It removed a very tough piece of Competition from the playing field. Voldemort had never concerned him anyway. Pyro was after a select group of Death Eaters. His rib unconsciously began to ache as his thoughts raced back to the attack on Hogwarts just a few years ago. Ash grabbed him and practically pleaded to him not to mention what she just said to anyone. He chuckled a little. "There would be no gain in telling your father that." Pyro had never met anyone of the Gandhi family, though he knew that their head and his father had had some connections, like most pureblood family's do. "Besides, I probably will never be in the same room with your father. Not that it matters. I believe the death of Voldemort was a good thing and way overdue. If the events that transpired hadn't happened, I probably would have hunted the man down myself."

Ash nearly raised her hands and celebrated when Pyro said he'd never tell her father. She nearly hugged him. She sighed she couldn't really, he had a girlfriend after all. Maybe that wouldn't last? "Huh." She said viciously, "that'll never happen and he and his perfect little Ricci will get back together and they'll all live happily ever after. Huh." Huh, she hadn't realised she was speaking outloud. Now Pyro had heard and he'd probably hate her and her world would come crashing down and her parents would NOT sympathise and life wouldn't be worth living........ "urn me away now boy" she said bitterly, "get back to precious Alexandra and make up then tell her what a nasty girl I am and how I can just go to hell." She shut up for a minute certain he would shout at her and say how precious his girlfriend was and not to look at him again. "Go on."

Pyro saw the relief cross her face and grinned. He had told the truth. He would have no gain in telling her father and making her life miserably. This girl hadn't crossed him yet so there was no reason to make her life a living hell. Suddenly though her tone took a drastic turn that surprised even the volatile Pyro. He looked at her as she finished her statement and Pyro once again noticed that she had spoken without realizing it. Something she seemed to do a lot it seemed.
What she said sank into him and silence fell in between them. Pyro had suspected as much, determined by her body language and the way she had looked at him, he wasn't an idiot and knew what it meant. Though now that she had verbally expressed her feelings it was all out in the open. There was no hiding it and flirting around the issue anymore. Pyro didn't want to betray Alex, and there was no way he would do that. But he wasn't ready to just ditch this girl yet either. Perhaps there was a way to save this and keep a friendly relationship open between them.
He leaned back and shrugged. "Why would I want to turn you away? You're entitled to your feelings toward an individual." He leaned his head back and shut his eyes. "You just had the un-lucky circumstance where someone beat you to it." He opened one eye and looked at her through it. "I wont tell anyone what a nasty girl you are, because I don't think you are one. Alex doesn't need to know and as long as you don't act on your feelings or try and sabotage us, she wont care." He winked at her. "If I were you, I'd approach this like a Slytherin." He grinned and shut his eyes. "I wont judge you for what you just said. So don't worry about it."

Ash nodded when he said she'd been beaten to him. And again when he said everything else. "I won't act on it," she said thinking about Ricci again, she'd have to meet her.
Trying to be positive and move on to another subject Ash searched for something to say. Nearly fruitlessly.
"Quiditch? Umm" should she try perfect manners? Yes. "It must be wonderful to play such a daring game," she gushed certain it would make him laugh, switching to a bored tone she said "it must be ever so lovely." She grinned, that would have to make him laugh. Wouldn't it?

Pyro waited for her response. How would she take it? He waited and finally she responded and Pyro sighed. Good, he wouldn't have to watch his back or worry about this girl. He watched her out of the corner of his eye to make sure that what she said was truly the truth. Satisfied that she wasn't holding anything back he turned his full attention to her.
Pyro laughed at her next comment. "Yes, it is quite lovely." He said mimicking her tone. He shrugged. "Yea, its a great game. If you don't keep your eyes open a rogue bludger will get you. I've taken quite a few of those myself." Pyro's mind raced back to his first ever game. They had been playing against Gryffindor and the two beaters had zeroed in on him. Pyro had been beaten by bludger so much that he needed to be substituted out. His ribs had been bruised for weeks.

Ash watched him carefully, vowing to watch him for ever after.
She smiled when he laughed and tried to read him when he was silent. She couldn't quite but he didn't seem to be upset so that was okay.
"Am I turning soft?" she wondered outloud hoping it would start conversation, what she really wanted was something where they could have some sort of big debate over it.
"Do you know a subject we can have a big debate over? I'm kinda lost for words" she trailed off, " but not in that sense," she added hurridley, "in a sort of we-should-have-more-conversation-but-I-don't-know-what-to-say sense."

Pyro looked at her out of the corner of his eye when she said something it. He was confused by this statement but before he could respond to it she continued talking. So, she wanted to debate over something and have more conversations? Pyro looked to his watch before returning his attention back to her. "You want to have a debate? Well, there are a lot of things we can debate about. School, government, sports, and hobbies."
He put his feet up on nearby table and got more comfortable on the couch. "We also have many conversation topics to choose from. Where are you from? Whats your home life? Whats going on in your life? Etc, etc." He looked at her. "It all depends on your preferences." He fell silent for a moment and thought over her previous statements. He remembered how she had pleaded to him not to tell her father. "So your dad. He sounds like a cheery person from what you've told me."

Her father? "Oh yes," she said sarcastically, "he goes around with balloons strapped all over him singing Christmas carols" Her Father?, "well," she watched him intensely, "for my introduction to him I'd tell you........." what would she tell him? What was his father like?, "that you should be glad you're not his son, lets say it isn't fun for lots of the time, so yeah he spoils me. But not with anything but things, he doesn't love me, he doesn't care a flick about me, he gives me no attention besides negative, he gives all the attention to Akhilesh and punishes him twice as hard." What else? "I have to be an ideal role model for what he thinks is what people should be like," finding it felt good to rant she continued,"if I disagree I'm punished, if I lose my calm I'm punished. If I make friends with anyone other than Slytherins I'm punished. If I make friends with anyone other than purebloods I'm punished. If I make friends with anyone other than people with influence I'm punished. If I have a boyfriend I'm punished." Feeling everything she felt for her Father swell up inside her she went on frustration evident in her voice as it rose to a higher volume, a slightly hysterical one. "If I do ANYTHING I'm punished," she quietened bitterly, that feeling evident, "anything other than what he wants."

Pyro listened to her rant about her father and he couldn't help but hear the familiarity between her father and his own. His own father had been exactly like hers, he hadn't cared at all for Pyro, and he insisted that Pyro be the perfect pureblood citizen. Pyro waited for Ash to finish and than let everything fall into silence for a moment. "Yea, that sounds like a charming man."
Pyro looked into the fire. "You may think I'm lucky not being his son, but I was actually a son to a man exactly like that man." He smirked and chuckled a little. "Me and my father hated each other so much that he even went so far as legally disowning me from the family. I was forced to live with a friend of mine during the summer." Pyro's mind raced back to those days, they seemed so long ago now. "In the end it took a lot of bargaining to get myself back into the family."
"After that I lived under his thumb for another year. Luckily I was able to at least usurp some authority over the man. But now I don't have to worry about it anymore, since now hes dead and I control all of the Blackfire household."

Ash suddenly felt pain for Pyro when he said he'd had to live with someone much the same. Her heart leapt when she heard he was head of the house and happy, she sighed to pretend she didn't feel what felt. "Lucky you. I have about,"she counted on her fingers for a moment,"forty to fifty years to go" she grinned,"then he'll probably become a ghost just to annoy us." When she'd said "us" she'd meant her sisters and brothers but she now had a picture firmly in her mind of the ghost of her father right there screaming at her, she had her arms round Pyro and was sobbing. Pyro was holding her and whispering gently in her ear. He was yelling at her father for upsetting her. Fat chance.
