A little walk through London ((Danny))

Amelia led him down the sidewalk toward her father's flat, still holding his hand and practically dragging him the whole way. When they reached her home, she smiled. Danny offered to stay outside, because of her parents. She shrugged and looked to the driveway. Emma had left for work already, but if Danny was more comfortable waiting outside, then she would respect that. She shrugged and nodded.

"Okay," she said with a smile and ran up to the door of the flat. Pulling her keys out of her pocket, she opened the door and entered the apartement. She went up the stairs to her room. Opening the door, Romeo (her cat) meowed at her from her bed. She smiled and opened her closet. Finding the two Comet 260 brooms, she patted Romeo's head once and left the bedroom, leaving the door open. She set the brooms near the front door and poked her head out.

"Hey, we'll go through the back so no one will see us. I know of this great field where it's likely no one will see us. I'll drive us there, okay?" She asked with a smile.

Danny smiled at her as she said okay to him staying outside and she ran inside her house. Danny started walking around on the side walk waiting for her to come back outside. He looked back up at the door when it seemed to have opened and saw Amelia’s head sticking out from inside the house. He smiled at her as she started talking. Danny was a little surprised when she said she would drive them to the field she was talking about. Danny always had an interest in muggle cars. He had been in one a few times with his muggle friends but that was sometime ago.

“You can drive? that’s awesome.” He said laughing then smiling at her.

Amelia smiled. Jaime, her mother's best friend's son had taught her how to drive last summer. Her mother and Dawn had then bought Amelia a car for Christmas. She was glad Danny thought it was cool that she could drive. She motioned for him to follow her through the house. Grabbing the two brooms, she led him through the living room and then the kitchen and finally out the back door. She walked around to the driveway, put her brooms in the back seat and motioned for Danny to get into the passenger seat. She then slid into the Driver's seat, taking out her keys.

Once Danny was in the car, she turned on the ignition and drove off down the street. She loved sneaking out and driving out to her favorite deserted field. It took about 10 minutes to get there, but it was far from Muggle eyes. She glanced at Danny as she drove out of the city center.

"It takes about ten minutes, hope that's OK."

Danny followed Amelia through her house through living room and kitchen then out to the back door and to the driveway where her car was. Danny watched as she put her two brooms in the trunk. He saw that they were two Comet 260 brooms. Danny remembered that he used to have one but it broke last year so he now had a nimbus 2000. He really wanted a firebolt but his parents got him the nimbus. But Danny couldn’t complain it was a really great broom. After she put the brooms in the trunk he stood there looking at her car. He stood there just looking at it till he saw Amelia motion for him to get in the passenger seat. Danny opened the door and got in.

At first he was just watching what Amelia was doing, how she started it, got it moving and turned it but soon started to look outside as she drove. He watched as buildings and people went by as she drove. He did like muggle cars a lot and was always interested in them but still if it was a choice between a broom and a car he would have had to pick a broom. Danny looked over at Amelia as she explained how far the place was and if it was ok with him. “That’s fine I still have a lot more time till I have to start getting worried.” He said laughing then went back to looking out the window as the buildings went by. “Then again cars can go any where and not have to worry about muggles.” He thought to himself still thinking about cars and brooms. “But brooms can fly so still brooms.” He started laughing as he thought to himself.

“So how long have you been able to drive?” He asked as he looked over to her.

She was concentrating mainly on the road ahead of her as Danny watched her every move. Amelia smiled, unconsciously. Wizards usually were awed about Muggle inventions. She always enjoyed seeing their faces when she would attempt to use a portable CD player, but Hogwarts was charmed so that no electricity could be used. She did like to take her CD player down to Hogsmead. They worked there and, yet again, her wizard friends would be all over the thing.

There was a lot to think about when you were driving. You have to maintain the speed limit, look at the three mirrors every now and then, and you have to stay exactly in the middle of the lane. British cars were much different than American. She had seen one in a magazine once. Everything is backward over there! Can you believe they drive on the right side of the road!?

Danny shrugged off her concern about the time to get to the field and then seemed to have a debate with himself, which ended with a laugh. She shook her head, her eyes on the road ahead of her. Danny then asked how long she's been driving. Before she answered, she turned on her blinker, slowed down, and turned right. She shrugged, "About a year now."

He looked over at her smiling as she answered his question. “I wish I could learn how to drive but we don’t even have a car.” He said smiling looking out the window as she turned right. “ Anyway my step dad thinks it's a muggle death trap so he probably wouldn‘t even let me drive.” He said then started laughing. “He’s a little paranoid of muggle things.” He added while still laughing. “ It toke him a month till he was sure the T.V. we had wasn’t going to kill him or something.” Danny said then started to think back to that time. It was around the time he first met William. William and his mom had been dating for sometime and then he moved in with them. He hated William so much back then but now they got along great.

Danny looked out the window again. They must have been getting closer to the field now because the view was getting a lot greener from out the window. Danny looked over at her and smiled. “Are we getting close now?” He said still smiling. He hadn’t been keeping track of time but he was sure more then five minutes had passed already.

Amelia smiled faintly, her eyes still on the road ahead of her. Danny explained how his father was paranoid of Muggle things. She shrugged. She was used to Muggle things, being born in an all Muggle family. They had a computer, a T.V., cars, and CD players. When Amelia first went to hogwarts, she had been awed by very put out at the lack of electricity. She had never gone without electricity, ever, and now she was attending a school where magic was the only source of power. Amelia laughed with Danny as he told her about her father being suspicious to a T.V.

Amelia turned again, left this time. They were leaving the main part of the city, getting closer to the field she loved to fly at. It had only been around five or six minutes when Danny asked how far they had come. She bit her lip, mumbling a bit, as she looked around, still conscious of the road. The road was still paved, but the surrounding land was getting greener with farming. She nodded.

"Just a second. It's right over there." She pointed to a blank field of hay grass. She turned left again, this time on a forgotten dirt road. They bumped along for a few minutes, finally coming to the field. She smiled, shutting off the ignition. She looked at him, her smile big, as she unclipped the seat belt and got out of the car.

Danny looked over as she pointed out a field by the side of dirt road and smiled. As she turned down the dirt road Danny just thought to himself how today was turning out. It started with him being so bored then leaving the house just to walk around. Now he was with Amelia about to go flying. Danny started laughing a little to himself as she started to slow down and then turn off the car. Danny smiled back as she smiled to him then she got out of the car and Danny got out of the car as well. He looked around and she was right he doubted any muggle would see them out here.

He walked to the back of the car and stood by the trunk waiting for her to open it but he still just looked around at the sky. It was still a great day for flying made even better by the fact they were in an open field. Thinking about it now Danny would love just once to fly around London on a broom to fly around building, dodge cars and people. Danny kept thinking about that then snapped out of it looking back to Amelia and smiled again.

The engine on the car died as she turned the key to off and exited the car. Danny stood near the trunk of the car, staring at the sky. Amelia smiled, took her keys, and opened the trunk. Inside, were the brooms, waiting to be flown. She grabbed one and smiled at Danny, stuffing her keys in her pocket. She was instantly on her broom and zooming off into the air. She giggled and let her head fly back as she enjoyed the air pushing through her wavy brown hair.

She looked back at Danny, her eyes mysterious.

"Well come on then!" she yelled down at him, waving and circling.
