Amelia was stunned. Her blue eyes were wide, her mouth agape. She blinked, trying to rid the intruding words from her mind. It was a lie. A joke. Anything, but what was the truth! She felt tears come to her eyes. The thoughts raced through her mind. There were voices speaking to her. What were they saying? Amelia couldn't even understand. Those voices of the ones she loved seemed to not matter. They whirrled about her, creating a murmering which hurt her ears and gave her a head ache. She felt her body crumble to the floor, remembering Dawn's words.
There was an accident...
Amelia felt the tears come. She didn't push them back any longer. Jaime was there, holding her shoulders as she cried. Dawn fell to her knees in front of the crying teenager. Dawn was Amelia's mother's best friend, her hurt was almost as bad as Amelia's. The grown woman's eyes were full of tears and her cheeks were stained with old and new ones. Amelia's chin trembled as she looked up at Dawn's eyes, pleading.
"Tell me it isn't true, Dawn... please..." She begged, she pleaded, she prayed to God that it wasn't really happening. Jaime's own sobs added to her own. Dawn's tears came more at Amelia's words. She shook her head and opened her arms. Amelia fell into them, a renewed gust of sobs shaking her entire body.
The entire car was destroyed
She couldn't hear. She couldn't speak. She couldn't even cry as hard as she wanted. Her heart couldn't beat. Her mind couldn't think. The same words repeated over and over in her mind.
She didn't make it
She was dead. Gone. Never to hug or kiss again. Amelia's sobs doubled as she clung to Dawn. Jaime let go of her, letting her grieve alone. He scrambled away, watching with tears streaming down his cheeks. Amelia's world was crashing around her.
All she could think was I might as well die, right here. Then I could see my mother again.

Jaime stared at the far wall. Amelia's towering grief and loud sobs filled with despair filled his ears. The whole house was quiet. Nothing moved, but Amelia's cries. It was as if the world had stopped. The only thing moving was Amelia's continuous rocking motion as Dawn enfolded the sobbing girl in her arms. Jaime looked at his own mother's face. Her cheeks were stained and wet, her eyes glassy with unshed tears, and her arms draped around Amelia like a blanket. Jaime wished he could help some how. He had loved Jay'Na as if she were his own family. They may not have been flesh and blood, but he loved her so anyway. Amelia had become something like a sister when they moved in and he too found himself loving her and wanting to care for her as if she were his sister.
Amelia's sobs were fading now, Dawn rocking her back and forth. Jaime watched as her shoulders shook with her impending grief. Finally, her breathing was coming normal, her face buried in Dawn's shoulder. Jaime frowned, his tears now fell for his almost-sister's grief. He gulped, wishing he could help in some way. He knew he couldn't. At least, not now.
Suddenly, Amelia untangled herself from Dawn's arms and stood from her place on the carpeted floor of the living room. Jaime sat with his back against the couch and his arms laying at his sides. He couldn't move. Amelia looked as if her life had been sucked from her body. Her face pale and her eyes and nose red from crying. She stared about the room, her eyes dead. She looked down at Jaime and when their eyes met, his heart wrenched. He suddenly saw her heart in those blue eyes and it was full of grief. He couldn't help but give her a look full of love and pity and understanding. Though he knew he couldn't understand fully of what she was feeling, he did have some idea. With one look in her blue, dead eyes. He was her grief and it was so great he couldn't even imagine.
She suddenly looked at the door, her right index finger twitched as she stared hungrily at the front door. Then, with one quick, deep breath, she bolted. Dawn made no move to stop the girl as she wrenched the door open and escaped into the night. Jaime stood, following after. He ran to the sidewalk, watching as Amelia fell to the pavement.
New tears came to his eyes as he watched her. Suddenly a cry pierced through the night, awaking the world once again, and the tears fell.
With all her grief, sadness, longing, and despair, Amelia cried into the night sky:
"WHY!?"
She fell forward onto her hands and knees with a loud sob. After a few moments, she sat back up, looking at the sky once again.
"Why did you take her away, God?..."
"Why did you take her from me?"

Dawn stood, her eyes renewed with tears. She sniffed, calmly walking into the bathroom and washing her face. She whiped the tears as they fell. She dried her face, sobbing a few times and then grabbed the phone. She took a deep breath, trying to control her grief. Another deep breath and she was ready to punch in the number of Amelia's father. She shut her eyes, raising the phone to her ear. Adam answered after about four rings. His voice was so cheery that Dawn almost broke down crying again. She cleared her throat as Adam asked "hello?" again.
"Uh, A-Adam?" Dawn said, her voice cracking with new, unshed tears.
"Yeah..." Adam's voice sounded confused, "Dawn?" Dawn nodded, looking at the floor.
"Yes." She said simply, wanting to cry more.
"Oh hey!" Adam greeted her, his voice seemed ironic somehow. He asked how she was and Dawn couldn't take it anymore. A soft sob escaped her lips as despair flowed through her.
"Jay'Na's been in an accident."
Stunned silence answered her.
"She... she didn't ma-make it." Dawn felt more tears flow. Adam's voice exploaded in grief. He expressed his sudden dispair in "Oh no"s and "Where's Amelia!?" Dawn tried to force the tears back so she could talk.
"She's outside with Jaime."
"Does she know?" Adam's voice sounded thick.
"Yes..."
"I'm coming over right now." She could hear tears in his voice, now. He hung up without a good-bye. Dawn clicked off the phone, turning around.
Through the window, Dawn could see Jaime holding a crying Amelia in his arms. She watched for a few moments, her eyes brimming with tears. Amelia's arms clung to Jaime's shoulders in desperation, her shoulders shaking frantically once again. Jaime had his chin resting against the top of her head, his eyes closed. They stood outside of the house, the night sky black and a quarter moon shining on the two teenagers. Dawn leaned against the wall, the tears spilling over and falling down her cheeks.

Adam was panicked. He couldn't breath. He couldn't cry. He couldn't even talk. Emma was confused as he hung up the phone, his eyes wide and full of tears. Grabbing his keys, he rushed from the room. Emma called to him, her eyes worried. He shushed her, his shock too intense to even think straight. He needed to get to the other side of London and get Amelia. Emma questioned, she pressed, and she fretted. Adam, who didn't yell often and barely showed anything close to anger toward his second wife, turned on her and yelled to be quiet. He need to think for a moment. Emma recoiled, leaning against the wall, waiting. Adam took deep breaths, trying to calm his nerves and slow his racing heart. Jay'Na was dead... He hadn't loved her like he did when they were married, but he did love her as a close and personal friend. She was the mother of his child, his only child, and he suddenly missed her more than anything.
Tears formed in Adam's eyes as he thought about Amelia. How crushed she must be. Emma slid her arms around his waist and hugged him, her eyes questioning, but remaining quiet. Adam gave in, falling into the small arms of his wife. He wept, openly. Emma held him, as a wife should, with caring and concern. She didn't ask what was wrong, she didn't press into the issue. Instead, she soothed him with her voice, rubbed his back fondly and kissed the tears from his cheeks.
When Adam had calmed enough to speak, Emma tentatively took his face in her hands and she looked up at him, her eyes held her love for him.
"Adam..." She almost whispered, "What happened?" Adam's eyes filled with tears again.
"Jay'Na's dead." His voice sounded hollow and yet thick at the same time. Emma gasped. She had been friends with Jay'Na, despite their discomfort about being married to the same man. Emma sighed, hugging her husband again.
"Go get Amelia." She said with understanding. Adam nodded, kissing his wife softly and left through the front door.
