((This takes place the day after the Not What I Would Have Thought post in a hospital not very far from Hogsmeade.))
Kyra clung to the sheets of the small hospital bed. After Kyra had been placed in the Hospital Wing the night before, Chloe had come and gotten her. Kyra didn’t remember this of course as she awoke from her sleep in the hospital. She pulled her hand to her eyes as everything began to come back to slowly. Light poured on Kyra’s face until finally she obliged to the light, and opened them. At first, Kyra was had a hard time remembering everything that had happened, but the not so distant memories flooded her brain fast enough. Tears drenched her face as Kyra started to remember everything she had done, everything she had said. It all seemed so unreal to her at first. Like, it was all a dream, kind of. That’s the why Kyra saw it at first, but that all changed when Kyra eyed her cut up arm that was somewhat covered in bandages. Some of the scars were old and didn’t need to be healed, but the two new fresh cuts went deep enough into the skin enough that Kyra needed the bandages. It didn’t take much longer for Kyra to notice different things about herself. Like the fact that she still had bruises that remained all over her body and that her leg hurt very badly. When she reached for the skin of her leg, Kyra winced and held her head at the sudden headache that was thrust upon her. For a moment, Kyra didn’t dare move. Her head throbbed in pain. After a moment, she began to move again, but the pain came back. She let out a small yell of pain and then moved about as to try and shake it from her. Finally, she gave in and closed her eyes.
Kyra awoke what seemed like an hour later. She felt sort of numb as if she had been given some medication in her sleep. She woozily lifted her hand to her head. Why had her head hurt so much? It didn’t hurt for the moment. No, in fact Kyra couldn’t feel a thing. She had never felt like this before. She had never felt so weak and like the whole world was crashing in on her. A feather could knock her over she felt like. Kyra felt her breaths so sharp and pin like. She just didn’t feel normal. She felt like a sick little puppy and Kyra hated the feeling. But, she didn’t dare fight leaving the hospital. She wasn’t ready. She was physically or mentally ready to leave. And she wouldn’t be for awhile, Kyra knew this. But, why did she still wanted so badly to run. Kyra knew she had a problem now. She wanted to face it, but then again, she wanted to run. But, she didn’t understand why running would feel so good. Would it?
Kyra winced as looked over at her nightstand. She noticed a folder file with her name on it and picked it up. Kyra eyed the chart with a number of different things scribbled on it. It read:
Kyra’s mouth fell open at the last word one the chart. She noticed a nurse walk into the room. Her name tag read Madalynn. Kyra pointed at the lady, but it was still hard for her to get the words out of her mouth. Madalynn rushed over. “Hey, don’t push it!” She ordered. “You have a lot of problems girl. What you’ve been doing to yourself is no joke. Plus, now we have to look into more severe health issues to make sure exactly what’s wrong with you.” She said shaking her head. Kyra noticed the concerned look on Madalynn’s face. She was looking at Kyra as if she were a freak. This scared Kyra, but she was too much into the other words that she had read. “Self Mutilation?” She asked. Madalynn nodded. “Well, that’s what you’ve been doing to yourself, right?” Kyra didn’t respond. She continued to read the chart. “I’m not anorexic.” She stated plainly. “We’re not saying you are yet, but you haven’t been eating, so we have to get a Physiologist in to see if she thinks you weren’t eating because you want to loose weight or you just weren’t eating. Plus, she has to talk with you about the cutting anyways.” This bothered Kyra. “I just didn’t feel like going to get food, is all.” She explained with one hand on her throbbing head about the not eating. Madalynn shook her head. “Sit still, you’re still weak.” She said nodding. “I’m going to go check with the techs, see if it’s time for your tests.” She stated as she left the room. Kyra watched her sadly as she left.
Kyra’s hand was still on her forehead as a doctor rushed in. “Hello, Kyra. I don’t suspect that you remember me.” He said pulling up a chair and flipping through Kyra’s chart. “Dr. Halpurn.” He said simply as he took out flashlight looking thing and poked it near Kyra’s ears to check them out. Kyra didn’t care much and just sat there. “You were pretty out of it when your aunt brought you here last night.” He explained. Kyra nodded as she tried hard to make words. “Easy.” He coaxed. She sighed. “I don’t remember.” She said softly. He nodded. “No, I knew you wouldn’t. You were barely awake according to some students when you left that school of yours. They took you to the school hospital, but your aunt thought that under these circumstances, you would be better off here for a few days.” He said eyeing her. “A few days?” She asked. He nodded. "Your problem is serious, Kyra. “Plus we think you had a minor concussion from hitting your head on the floor or something. No one actually saw you hit it so we aren’t sure what you hit it on. Do you remember?” He asked. She shook her head. “No, that’s okay.” He said calmly. “Well we will be taking you in for tests shortly and the psychologist will be here soon after that.” He said nodding as he left the room. What did I get myself in to? Kyra thought silently.
