Life was perfect for Katy Hudson. She had a girlfriend, Kyle, her brother, was beginning to accept her, and her father was out of the hospital. Everything was slowly getting put back to place, like a puzzle. Now there was only one piece to put back until it was finally completed. Katy dragged a comb through her unruly red hair that was looking lighter than usual that night. She and Myka were supposed to go to a party for her parents. That was what the letter was about. Mrs. Young wrote asking both Myka and Katy to a party that was being thrown before Valentines Day. Myka didn’t want to go, but with a lot of persuading and kisses, Katy finally convinced her. Maybe her girlfriend will patch everything back up with her dad. Katy knew Myka loved her father, even more than her mother. Though who wouldn’t? Mariah Young was the definition of witch. Not the kind of witches in the wizarding world, but the kind that were ugly, had warts, and long green stringy hair. Katy winced at the repulsive image. Why would any man want to be with her?
Shrugging at the thought, Katy began to get dressed. She pulled on a beautiful, black halter dress that reached to about her mid thigh. Her hair was styled so that the whole left side was pulled back, only the right hanging loosely. It looked poofier than curly, but Katy knew Myka would love it any way. Smiling at the thought of her girlfriend, she pulled on a pair of black heels, typing the strap that wrapped around her ankle. Grabbing a black button up coat from the bed, she slipped her arms into it buttoning the larges buttons on the front. Setting her wand into the front pocket, Katy than picked up a velvet ring box that had a pink rose embedded on the front. Inside was the special ring that Katy knew Myka would wear forever, even if they broke up. Katy felt sadness rush through her body as she imagined never being with Myka again. Would that ever happen?
Heading out of the common room, Katy exited the portrait hall seeing Myka already waiting for her outside. Grinning, she wrapped her arms around the girl’s waist leaning in to drop a sweet kiss on her girlfriend’s lips. “I love you,” she whispered into Myka’s ear kissing her check before pulling away. “I have something for you.” Taking out the velvet box from her pocket she slipped it into Myka’s hand. “Happy four month, even though we only been officially together for one, but I’ve counted since we first met.”

Myka turned around and looked at herself in the mirror. Her black hair was straightened and parted in the center. She wore a black pant suit with a deep pink vest and cream coloured shirt. Her jacket was a pretty black suede and she liked her outfit. She didn’t feel like wearing a dress, knowing that it would be bad enough dancing and kissing Katy all night, but to wear a dress with her. She had to give her mom at least some credit and dress like a boy would. Myka smirked at the thought of going to the party with her mother there. It was sure to be an eventful night. It didn’t matter how much her mother hated her right now, Myka had Katy and Katy was worth more than anything in the world. Myka took one last look at herself in the mirror and then dashed out of the dormitory and through the common room before questions could be asked. She took the quickest way to the Hufflepuff common room and stood in front of the portrait, a white rose in her hand. Finally, the portrait swung open to reveal Katy in a stunning dress. “Wow… you look stunning.” Myka whispered when Katy wrapped her arms around her waist and kissed her.
In all her life, Myka didn’t think she would ever find the love that she had found with Katy. It was amazing and frightening at the same time, but Myka welcomed it. “I love you too,” she finally whispered as she pushed a strand of hair from Katy’s face. When Katy brought out a box and put it in her hand, Myka’s eyes lit up. She handed the rose to Katy, “I only brought you this, now I feel cheap.” She smiled a laughing smile and then opened the box. In it was a ring with the rose seal on it, just like the ones in the anime and manga. Myka gasped and took it from the box, placing it on her finger. “Where did you find this? It’s… perfect.” Myka pulled Katy to her and kissed her. There was no way this night could go wrong. Everything was perfect for once in Myka’s life and that was something she had deserved for a long while.
They broke into the night air and were soon in Hogsmeade. Once there, Myka grabbed Katy’s hand, pulled her to her and kissed her as they apparated away. She had just turned 17 and passed her apparating test, which made life a hell of a lot easier. They appeared in the foyer at Myka’s house where there were many people there. Music was resonating from outside and Myka smiled as she led Katy to the backyard. Her parents were already making their rounds as host and hostess and Myka knew she had ten minutes or so before they even noticed she had arrived. With the hand that bore the rose seal, led Katy to the dance floor. “Dance with me, Himemiya.” Her eyes glistened with love and emotion as she held Katy in her arms and moved to the music.

Katy smiled happily seeing Myka’s eyes light up when she slipped the box into her hands. Accepting the rose, she brought it up to her nose, her eyes closing as she took a deep breath. A smell of sweet freshness greeted her nostrils, making Katy’s eyes close in happiness. Sighing contently, she looked at Myka, a grin still on her face. “You know I’ll love anything you get me, Utena,” Katy spoke quietly, closing her eyes and kissing the girl back. Katy twirled the steam of the rose between her thumb and index finger, enjoying the smooth friction. She smiled secretively when Myka asked her where she had gotten the ring. “Let’s just say it took a lot of persuading, but I knew it would be perfect for you.” Really, she had asked a favor from her father. Shane knew someone from work who was the husband of a woman who owned a jewelry shop. Luckily, the woman found exactly what Katy wanted, without any cost. People felt weird being around her father ever since he had gotten sick. Personally, Katy thought he was a better man than before. He even knew about her being gay, telling her that he had some feeling he knew. Luckily, Shane took the news a lot better than Kyle did. It was because all he wanted for Katy was to be happy. If being with Myka made Katy feel like that, then that was alright. Why couldn’t everyone just be like that?
They were soon greeted by the chilly weather of Hogsmeade, the only place around Hogwarts that someone could apparate from. Katy wrapped her free arm around Myka’s neck when the girl took her hand. They kissed for a short while, which made Katy ignore the breathless feeling she got in her stomach. She had only apparated once, but that was with Aiden, who just had to show her what it was like when you turned seventeen. Katy didn’t have to worry about that for another couple years. Her sixteenth birthday was coming up next week, and Katy wondered if Myka was going to do anything special for her. Music soon filled the air as the two appeared in front of the foyer at Myka’s house. Noticing Myka’s parents greeting the guest, Katy nodded her head, taking the girl’s hand in for a dance. Her hands moved to the right positions, Katy’s feeling the warmth and love coming from Myka. There was honestly no other place she would rather be. Being in Myka’s arms meant that Katy had found someone wonderful to love. It didn’t matter if they were two girls in love with one of another. That shouldn’t matter.
Leaning closer to Myka’s ear, Katy breathed silently before speaking. “I love you so much Myka. I’m not afraid anymore.” Her lips brushed across Myka’s check before meeting the girl’s lips. Katy kissed them softly, her eyes closing, savoring the sweet taste. The world was spinning until it stopped, Katy gasping loudly as she felt pain rush through her body. It didn’t take long for the pain to turn into numbness, until she finally felt herself slipping away from the world. Katy’s limb body slowly slumped down to the ground, Katy’s hands sliding down Myka’s body slowly. Everything just slipped away into darkness. Her future wasn’t no more, but Katy could die knowing that she had felt love, and loved in return.

Dancing with Katy just felt so right. Everything was in its place and everything was perfect. When Katy whispered in her ear, Myka felt herself smile. It was hard to think that four months ago she had been unhappy when at the exact moment she was happier than she had ever been. Myka wondered if that was a bad thing, depending on Katy so much. Myka held Katy close to her as she whispered back to Katy’s ear, “Good, but even if you were afraid still I’d be here. I’m glad you aren’t, anymore, though. I hated it when you had run from me.” She closed her eyes as they danced across the dance floor. When they kissed it was Heaven on Earth and then it happened. Katy slumped against her, lifeless, blood pouring from her heart. Myka stood in shock and then let out a heart wrenching scream. She sank to the ground with Katy still in her arms. Tears poured from her eyes as she pushed Katy’s red hair from her face. “Katy! NO!! Himemiya!” Myka held Katy in her arms, the blood getting all over her outfit. The tears pouring from her eyes. “HIMEMIYA!” Where had it all gone wrong? They had been perfect. Everything was amazing and now it was all torn away from Myka. “Katy, please… I love you.” She bent her head down to Katy’s and kissed her forehead. “I will always love you… please… don’t die.” Myka knew it was pointless. Katy was already dead and her tears were being wasted. She kissed Katy and held her to her.
It took four people to pull her away from the lifeless form of Katy Hudson. Even then when the coroner came to take Katy away, there was a need for four people to hold her back. This was all unreal. The police had shown up and Myka was looked upon with a mixture of pity and disgust. The pity because she was a complete wreck and disgust because she was crying over the loss of her gay lover. As Myka was being questioned, her father kept his arm around her, but her mother was nowhere to be found. Myka excused herself, timidly, from the police officer who was conversing with her father. She hadn’t been paying attention, but she had heard the words “gunshot” “heart” and “instant death.” Myka didn’t care, she was on a mission to find her missing mother. It didn’t take long, Mariah was in her office with some guy. Myka raised her fist to knock, but stopped short when she saw the money being counted into his hand. The guy smirked, “She was worth more than 2,000, Mariah.” Myka felt her stomach do flips. Her mother had paid someone to kill Katy. Myka was sure of it. Now she understood why they had been invited.
Myka felt her head spin as she stumbled backward, trying to get away from the scene in front of her. Her feet carried her back out to the party area where her father was now cleaning up the party supplies that weren’t in contact with the crime scene. It was only an hour ago that Myka had held Katy in her rms. Myka shook her head and went to her father who immediately stopped cleaning. “What’s wrong?” Myka breathed in. “Mum…killed Katy…” she could tell the disbelief in his eyes, but that soon disappeared because it all made sense. Logan sank into the chair beside him and stared past Myka who had fresh tears rolling down her cheeks.
