Wrapping her thin arms around her tabby kitten, Flapjack, Katie-May Harrow trotted down the Ravenclaw stairs, into the Common Room. It was almost empty- just a few people, a few cats, and one prefect, all sitting relaxed and silent. Smiling with the calm atmosphere May gently walked over to her favourite chair, a comfy white one by the fire, which seemed to swallow you when you sat in it. She was wearing a short black skirt, a pale blue jumper, and on her wrist jingled four pretty bracelets.
As she sat, Flapjack curled up in her lap, tail tucked under paws, head facing the fire, little eyes closed. As the cat rested May took from her bag an odd little muggle game. It was an odd box, with lots of colourful squares on it. You had to twist the squares round until you had a row of the same colour- almost impossible. Frowning at it, May concentrated hard before giving in, only one red row completed. How did the muggle people do it? Grinning May blew gently into one of her cat’s ears, giggling as it twitched once, twice, three times. As she continued, she yelped as one of Flapjack’s sharp little claws dug deep into her leg. She stopped the blowing, and watched as Flapjack rubbed his furry little head on her leg, purring with the warmth of the heated fire. Both of them sat there camly, not really doing anything, but still not doing nothing. It was a few moments later when May heard a small crash from behind her, and turned too look with curiosity.

As Brook walked down the stairs toward the Ravenclaw common room she accidentally dropped her books, that landed in a loud thunder behind a chair. She bent down to pick them up and put them back in her bag and then was startled by someone turning around put there face accidentally into hers. She jumped back a few feet and then almost fell over. (she was always clumsy when she first woke up) Then noticing who it just 'happened' to be she slowly walked back, afraid she might fall again.
"Hey Katie-May, how is it going?" she said then bent down again to retrieve her books.

The noise was Brook, sropping her books down the stairs, causing them to fall with a crash which had alerted May. May grinned- Brook was so clumsy when she was tired! After stating this fact to the elder Ravenclaw, May smiled and answered in a friendly tone. "Hey Brook! I'm great thanks, though terribly bored. Oh, and call me May." She smiled. "How are you?" As she spoke, Flapjack finally noticed the newcomer. Rising from May's lap, the kitten jumped from her, stumbling as she landed.
"As clumsy as you, Brook!" May laughed. Flapjack, oblivious to the noise, then trotted towards Brook, sniffed one leg, and then rubbed his whole tiny, furry body on Brook. May grinned and whistled, picking him up and swinging the lightweight in the air as he ran towards the noise. "Silly little kitty! Silly, silly little kit." The soothing tones of May's voice seemed to go unoticed with Flapjack, who's eyes were still as bright as ever.

Brook thought May was extremely happy this morning and she just could not figure out how. May seemed to always be happy and a lot of people thought Brook was 'alaways' happy, but boy were they wrong. Sure she was happy quite a lot but she could get really grouch and mean sometimes, especially when it was a Sytherin. "I like your cat! I chose an owl instead but I think this summer I am going to get my own cat and maybe even some new stuff for my old owl."
(sorry so short, I am tired! i got up at 5 this morning for basketball practice )

"Yep. Cats rock. I do like owls, but prefer cats by far. You can't cuddle owls properly, and they don't have cute little nose's like this Fluffball's here." Hearing someone reffering to him, Flapjack looked up and as May poked his tiny pink nose with one finger, licked it with his rough tongue. May laughed as it tickled and turned back to Brook. "Come sit!" May welcomed Brook, patting a nearby chair with a kind smile. "We need to catch up. How's life as a third year going?" As May waited for Brook to answer she whipped out her wand, pointed at the table nearby and cast a 'tea times three' charm, one she had learnt a long time ago. Three cups of tea appeared just how May liked them, and she offered one to Brook as she sipped her own. "Want one? I only know the 'times three' charm, so am always left with a spare mug!" She laughed and sipped again.

Brook liked Katie-May already, she was nice and extremely happy, obviously, and didn't seem to have a mean side. "Yes, I would love to sit down, as long as you don't mind me writing to my parents while we talk." replied Brook happily. When she got up and started talking she tended to get real happy, real fast, and it really annoyed a lot of people. Brook looked back after she had sat down as May prepared some tea, and then gratefully took a cup. "My third year is going extremely well so far! The only bad thing is the humongous amount of work they give us." Brook said sighing. Third year gave you like three thing to do per class every night!

Katie-May nodded, accepting. "That's fine, I don't mind." Sipping her own cup May sat up suddenly, almost spilling the scalding tea. Sniffing the drink she laughed loudly. "Oh no- I forgot! Oppsie...." May giggled to herself, then explained, not embarrassed at all. "My brother taught me the spell and I have only cast it once before, and it turned out wrong then too. I forgot he tricked me into this spell! Sorry about that. It’s salt, not sugar, and mustard, not milk.” May laughed again, still apologising. She quickly brought out her wand again and made all cups disappear, pleased that at least that spell had worked.
“Oh no, really? I hate working when rushed. I love doing it when I decide to do it, though hate it at any other time.” May smiled, wondering what she just said. Did it make sense? Probably not. Flapjack wriggled on his owner’s lap and May smiled at the little kitten. She was glad she hadn’t spilt the tea- Flapjack would have been scalded and the kitten was so young he may not have survived the boiling ‘tea’. Scowling at herself May kissed the kitten’s head and vowed to think.

"Yah, I used to be like that, but as I was about to start my second year I realized that it really doesn't matter if I want to do it, I had to do it if I wanted to be a qualified witch!" replied Brook. She picked up her pen and started writing a little bit more of her letter, she was just finishing it when Katie-May said that she was tricked by her brother, and it was not sugar and cream, it was salt and mustard. "Ick," said Brook "That's disgusting!" she finished laughing by now because she couldn't keep the disgusted look on her face for to long. Hoping that Katie-May had noticed that she wasn't criticizing her, just picking on her.
(sorry so short, problems at home!)
