Cleo tromped into the Ravenclaw common room and rushed up the stairs without glancing either way in the common room. Shifting easily past some younger year Cleo entered her dormitory, alreayd pulling off the thick Ravenclw sweater. „I hate detentions!“ Cleo grumbled loudly, even though her words were somehwat muffled from inside the sweater. Throwing the sweater carelessly on top of her trunk Cleo pulled open the wardrobe glancing inside. She was going to the halloween ball as a fire spirit. Meaning that if she wanted the flames charm to work she had to start getting ready. Pulling out the red tank top, Cleo slipped it on easily, followed by a knee-length skirt that was also the colour of burning fire. It seemed to be made of hundreds of little pieces of cloth as the skirt was a bit bell like flaring out when Cleo turned. Much like a fire itself wold be twisting, turning and dancing in the wind.
„DANA!!!!“ Cleo hollered on top of her lungs, knowing that the Ravenclaw prefect had opened her wardrobe and jewelry for her friends. They had started talking just this year but Cleo anda Dana got along rather nicely. Something Cleo couldn’t say about Dana’s cousin. The guy was blind but Cleo and him argued constantly. Cleo snorted at the thought pulling on red small shoes – she dind’t want to go walking around the castle barefoot. She and Kris were constantly at each others throats verbally, but to one point Cleo somehow even... liked that guy. Evne though she didn’t even admit it to herself.
„DANA!“ Cleo hollered once again waiting for the Ravenclaw prefect to enter the room. Preferably with the belt and hair-clips she had promised to lend Cleo. She could use some help with the charms as well. Halloween balls only came once a year after all! "I haven't heard yet you know. What are you all going as?" Cleo asked the other 5th years in the room as she finally managed with the socks and dropped herself to sit on her bed.

Dana stretched calmly as she made her way through the rather abandoned hallways. A bit more and there would be wind howling thorugh them with balls of hay flowing around like in some vestern movie. And all because on one simple party. Well, perhaps not simple. Hogwarts didn’t thrown balls very often so they were never a quiet affair. Dana herself was glad she could use the prefects bathroom. It was better, bigger and most certianly more quiet and peaceful. And no one banging on the door demanding to be let in. Stepping into the common room Dana grinned upon hearin ga holler for her. The voice was unmistakeable for anyone else but Cleo. She and Dana’s cousin were a rather amusing sight together. However Dana had promised to help Cleo with her outfit. Fire Spirit would work well with her flaming hair.
Jogging up the stairs Dan anetered the 6th years dormitory and brought out the belt Cleo would most likely want. With a small grin Dana wondered if Cleo knew that the belt actualyl belonged to one of Kris’s ancestors. He knew who would be borrowing it and had slipped in one more enchantment between the many that were already placed on the garment. After Dana had taken his blood-oath that it would in no way harm or even cause discomfort for Cleo. Picking up the belt and a few choices of jewelry – she had opened her wardrobe and jewelry holds for her firends who wanted to add some touch to their costumes, as well as access to different charms books that might help their costumes – Dana left the room once again. Her own costume – a pirate – was fairly simple so she would have time helping Cleo and others prepare their costumes. Dana stepped out of the room just as one more holler for her rand and Dana couldn’t suppress a small smile. Cleo certianly had a temper to match Kris’s.
„I’m coming, hold your horses. Or your voice to be more exact,“ Dana stated as she calmly entered the 5th years dormitory smiling at the bit sulking looking Cleo, „You have plenty of time to get ready still. Here’s the belt you wanted, the hair-clips and a donation of a necklace for your costume.“ Dana tangled a necklace between her fingers, wisely not mentioning that the pendant came form Kris. It was nice work however – a golden dragon curled around a ruby that glinted in light with a seemingly inner fire. „It might match your outfit. Now do you need some help with the fire spell for your legs and your hair?“ Dana seated herself calmly on the corner of Cleo’s bed supporting a pair of grey sweat-pants and a simple white sweater herself. „Or anything else I can be of assistance?“ Dana asked directing the question to a more wider circle senidn a smile at Sapphire as a greeting.

Sapphire was relaxing on her bed, reading a rather interesting book about Greek mythology. Not just this time for pleasure, though, but also because of the fact that she was intending to go to the Halloween Ball dressed as a Muse, as was Simone. Underneath her bed lay a couple of library books instructing her on how to enchant her appearance in various ways, the relevant pages bookmarked with scraps of parchment. As Cleo entered the dormitory, grumbling as was her particular habit, Sapphire laid the book she had been reading down on her bed, open on a page which had the picture she wanted, of Urania, the Muse of Astronomy.
"Perhaps you could make a concession as to avoiding miscreant deeds when Professors are in the near vicinity then?" she said lightly, glancing at her dormmate with a twitch of her lips. She slipped off her bed and made her way over to her wardrobe, searching inside it with a frown on her face. She hardly wanted to go for the full blown tunic and rather drapy robes - that wouldn't do at all. A long dress with a flare at the bottom would probably do... preferably blue. And some sort of drape to go around it... not full flung robes certainly. Unfortunately it would probably require some rather imaginative wardrobe adaptations.
Sapphire stopped her pondering over different garments momentarily to wince as Cleo began to shout loudly for Dana, giving the other girl a reproachful mock-glare. "Spare my eardrums, please," she said, half out of amusement. "I'm sure Dana isn't so deaf she won't have been able to hear what they'll be able to hear beyond the Common Room." And sure enough Dana did enter the room not much later. Sapphire returned her smile, watching as she proferred a number of items to Cleo. Sapphire nodded as the Ravenclaw prefect asked them whether she could be of any other assistance. "Certainly," she replied, "You are afterall helpful at whatever you turn your mind to." Sapphire gave the sixth year a smile, pondering her wardrobe once again. "What to make of this wardrobe?"
Sapphire looked back to Cleo, who had asked what the other girls were going as. "I'm going as a Muse, Urania in fact. Astronomy. Not too hard to decide what I'm doing with my hair but as for the rest of me..." Sapphire rolled her eyes. "Forward planning would perhaps have been helpful. I think Simone's going as a Muse as well." Sapphire motioned to the book lying on her bed and sat back down on the soft mattress, having selected out a couple of dresses, tops and a blue skirt which was made out of midnight blue velvet and had a few sparkly fake diamante things on it. "I can almost see what you're going as already, Cleo," she said, "and it looks enchanting, but Dana, I do hope that isn't your outfit for the Ball - while entirely lovely in many ways, it's hardly fitting for that sort of thing." Sapphire gave both girls another smile and pulled out one of the spell books from under her bed, opening it at the page which would tell her how to make things sparkle. She should probably start practising it so as to perfect it now.

Cleo grimaced towards Sapphire. „How was I supposed to know that idiot Filch was around the corner?“ opening her mouth to call for Dana once again Cleo closed her mouth just as abruptly with a little snap as the girl herslef stepped into the room. „Thanks!“ Cleo jumped out happily taking the belt and sashaying in fornt o fhte mirror-stand to put it on. The wide leather fet nicely on her hips as golden chains with rubies hanging from them added fire, livelyness and a hint of mysticism to the already fiery skirt. Cleo twirled letting the skirt and the chains flare out in a wild dance twirling towards Dana again to look at the pendant. „It’s gorgeous! Yours? Of course, stupid question. Who else would have it to offer for me to wear! You certainly don’t mind?“ Cleo took the pendant and slipped it around her neck, where it settled comfortable, the golden chain perfectly surrounding her neck.
„It’s great! Thank you!“ Cleo offered a quick smile as she puleld out her bag of make-up. The red lipstick and blush as well as eye-shadow would be used later on. For now Cleo started to cover her nails with deep red nail-polish. She would draw small flames on her nails later on. Preferably have the flames on her nails flickering as well if the charm worked. Hopefully it would work with some help. „Urania! Neat!“ Cleo glanced up to the display of cloth choices Sapph had spread out on her bed and nodded at the skirt there. „I like the skirt. What are you going to wear under the skirt? Heels, sandals or go bare-foot? I don’t seem to recall exactly how muses walked around originally. Then again the floors might be a bit cold to go bare-foot. Or cast a heating charm? I know the flames will be keeping my feet warm. Then again Urania didn’t really walk around in fire, did she?“
Cleo corked the nail-polish bottle and placed it on the cupboard next ot her bed hwile waving her hands in the air impatiently to make them dry. You could dry your nails with a quick spell but Cleo preferred to do it the muggle way. It seemed better this way and the nail-polish would stay on longer. Besides it wasn’t as if she was ain a rush. If this party was worth dressing up, then it was worth dressing up properly, not rushing and doing everything only half-way properly.

Dana shifted a bit uncomfortable as Cleo asked if the pendant was hers. Luckily the girl put it on and whirled away so Dana just blinked deciding to go for a half-truth. Well, it was truth, he just dind’t say the completel truth out: „Well, it does belong to the family.“ Kris was family after all. „And the pendant fits you. So wear it and enjoy wearing it.“ Dana turned to look at Sapphire looking down at her clothes with a small smile. „Really now? I thought it was the spiffing image of a muggle. But actually I do plan on changing. Into the simple costume of a pirate. I think I’m going to enjoy a rathe rlow profile at the ball. Perhaps retreat a bit earlier and had a cup of hot chocolate with a good book to entertain me,“Dana smiled calmly at Sapphire standing up and glancing in the wardrobe while stretching nicely. „Oh, I like that blouse. Why haven’t I seen you wear it?“ Dana asked not finishing the stretch as she jumped forward and admired one of the white blouces with an appreciating smile.
Looking at the clothes Sapphire had picked out Dana pursued her lips thoughtfully. „Urania? How are you getting the stars in your hair? I might have osmething to offer you, but... eh, I might as well show you.“ Standing upDana walked over to the door opening it while pulling out her wand and casting accio on her jewels crate. The relatively big box came flying from her dormitory and changing the spell quickly Dana directed it into the room and onto the floor with an accurately placed ’Wingardium Leviosa’. Tucking her wadn away Dana knelt next to the box and opened it, raising the first floor filled with jewels out of the way.
„Kris gave them for me for my last birthday and I rather like them,“ Dana picked up about 5 strands of silver with about 3-5 sapphires on every string as she showed them to Sapphire, „If you add a glinting charm to the sapphires it might not even look too bad when attached to your head.“ Dana shifted through her jewelries a bit more, raising a forehead pendant out for a moment as well. It was also a deep clear blue with silvery chains to make it hang on your forehead, but the pendant was in the shape of a tear. Perhaps a pendant in the shape of a star would fit better right now, so Dana dropped the jewel back into the box. „You can try them if you want – if they fit, feel free to wear them, if not then itn’s not a problem.“ Dana smiled calmly at Sapph and stood again leaving the strings of sapphires on the jewelrybox on the floor as she moved to stand behind Cleo to fix her hair. It would be too hard to cast the charm on your own hair, so Dana would be doing that. Letting the brush glide through Cleo’s hair a few times Dana started the comlicated work of adding life to the hair. About 8 minute later Dana finally finished with the spell and took a step back to admire her work. The hair was now flowing around with lighter flames than Cleo’s seemingly dancing along to the moveing of the hair. Added with the drawings of flames flickering on Cleo’s face and arms as well as the flames that would be conjured Cleo would look completely as if on fire. AT least she had the character to play out a fire-spirit.

The plastic package shined up at Jasmine as she sat on her bed getting ready. Her aunt sent it over just a couple days ago for the ball. Why was she going still going to the ball? Almost all her friends had dates but her. So why go? But Hogwarts rarely ever held a ball expect last year which she didn't attend. Taking a deep breath Jasmine took the fabric out of it's covering unfolding it. The silk felt smooth under her fingers. Was she seriously going to wear this? It didn't even cover her stomach! Bitting her lip Jasmine pondered for a moment. To wear the costume or not too was the question. But if she did, it would show a whole other side of her that nobody thought knew existed. Than if she didn't well she would be her boring, plain self. But Jasmine was going and not staying in the common room drinking hot chocolate and reading a nice classic. Even know that did sound so tempting.
Once settled Jasmine stared at her reflection in the full length mirror. Her eyes almost literally popped out of their sockets at the image. Was that even her! Jasmine's long black was was charmed to her waist and was tied back in three section with three while a gold head band with a blue sapphire was placed in the middle. A blue silk shirt with small straps laid a little down her shoulder with matching pants that puffed out. The whole costume was showing her stomach. Goose bumps shivered up her body as a gentle breeze rushed through. Second thoughts started to take over. Was she even allowed to wear anything like this. Bitting her lower lip Jasmine knelled down on the ground and searched for a sweater. She could always ask Dana, Sapphire, or Cleo for their opinion. Pulling out a white knitted jacket she pulled it on and left the dorm room in search of her friends.
"DANA! CLEO! SAPPHIRE!" Jasmine yelled walking down to the main flour of the common room not really caring if anybody heard her. They probably didn't even notice under all the other voices. Once reaching the bottom of the stairs Jasmine noticed they weren't even there. Sighing she walked back up the stares toward the fifth year dorms where she thought Cleo yelled for Dana. Knocking on the door softly before turning the nob to enter. The door sung open and there they all were. All grouped together talking. "Hey guys..." she greeted sitting down on Cleo's bed Indian style grabbing a pillow and hugging it while staring at her friends. "So does anybody want to tell me who they are going to the ball as?" Jasmine asked eying their costumes.

Post by Meyghan Gallagher R7 on Nov 6, 2005 5:20:00 GMT
Meyghan knew it was almost time for the ball, and the accident she had just had with that second year was going to take away from the time she had left to get ready. She knew what she was going as, but she had yet to figure out one last part of the costume. She had the right clothes, and almost all of the right accessories, but she couldn't help wondering about the last touch. Maybe someone in the dorm can help me with it. She thought to herself knowing that her dorm mates would be there getting ready as well. Meyghan made her way back to the common room as fast as she could. She knew that getting up the stairs to the dorm would take no time at all.
Meyghan stopped as she made her way into the common room, just long enough to catch her breath. She didn't see anyone she knew there, so she decided to head on up to the dorm and try to figure out the last accessory to her costume. She looked around to see who was already there. " Hi everyone." She said seeing that there were already others in the dorm.
Meyghan threw her books down on her bed, and walked over to her wardrobe. She flung open the doors and began looking for the right clothes for the costume. She knew that the dress she wanted was in the wardrobe somewhere, but she couldn't seem to find it. Maybe if I slow down and look for it carefully. She thought. Meyghan took a deep breath and began to look again in her wardrobe for the dresses that she needed to choose from. She found one, it was a long, flowing pearl white sleeveless dress with diamond like studs and false pearls around the somewhat low neckline. She carefully laid it on the bed, and turned to look for the other dress, and the right shoes for both dresses. She decided to ask everyone for their opinions as to which dress she should use for the main part of the costume. Meyghan let out a little squeal of delight as she found the other dress she had been looking for. Either dress would make a great basis for an angel costume, she would only need to find a way to get the wings, and she was unsure of how to do that at the moment. Meyghan laid the soft, velvety baby blue dress on her bed along side the white one. The blue one didn't stand out as much for it was a little more plain than the other, but equally as pretty to Meyghan.
Meyghan turned to everyone around her, wondering if they would mind helping her decide which dress, and wondering if anyone would have an idea for the wings that her costume would need. "Umm.. Could I trouble someone for some advice?" Meyghan said as sweetly as possible. The only one in the room that she had really met was Dana, the Ravenclaw prefect. She had hoped to make friends with the others in her dorm, but had been terribly busy. " I was wondering which of these would be the better choice for an angel costume, and if anyone had an idea for creating wings to go with the costume." She said in the same sweet tone she had used earlier. Meyghan smiled and sat on the bed as she looked around at the others.
