Janae was alone in her room and was looking through her books for the ones she needed to bring downstairs with her. There were times when she just did not understand some of her school work and needed a little extra help.
Her and one of her friends decided to meet in the common room, to attempt to get through the homework together.
When she looked at her watch and realized that in a minute she would be late meeting Elyce, she hastily grabbed her books and headed down to the common room to meet Elyce and get started on the work.

Elyce glanced at the clock and remembered that she had plans to meet with Janae to study. Elyce wasn't the best student, but she most definitely wasn't the worst. Between her and her friend Janae they could almost always figure out their work.
Elyce grabbed her books with her assignments in them and walked to the common room. She was filled with anticipation, she hadn't spent a lot of time with Janae lately, and she was looking forward to reconnecting.
Looking around she quickly spotted Janea sitting with her books in hand. Elyce walked over and greeted her with a smile, "Hey Janae, how's it coming? I feel like we haven't hung out in a while, fill me in on what's been going on in your life."
With that, Elyce tossed her books down, brushed her hair off her face and sat down next to Janae, ready to study, study, study.

Janae was sitting at the table spacing out when Elyce came over and started a conversation. She was really excited to see Elyce and jumped right into the conversation. Janae smiled back at Elyce and said, "Hey Elyce! It has been quite a while since we have seen each other. Overall my life is going pretty good, besides this homework of course. But that is why you are around. Besides that I'm just having a normal life at Hogwarts. What has been new with you? Anything juicy?"
Janae closed the book that she was looking at as they launched into conversation. It had been a while, and it was always great to catch up on life and everything.
As they sat there and talked Janae completely forgot about all of her homework with hanging out with her old pal.

Elyce filled up with the contagious energy of Janae. She was glad to hear that Janae was doing well. "There's not much new with me. I've made a new friend or two lately. I'm trying to expand my horizons, and stuff like that. I read it in some inspirational book. But other than that, nothing juicy, sorry, my friend."
Elyce watched Janae close her school book, and she definitely wasn't going to remind her that studying was the reason she'd come. She just loved chatting- and a lot of it was getting down this afternoon.
"So, Jay," Elyce rattled on "any new boys in your life? Did you ever end up dating that guy? I can't remember. Oh, by the way, Eli says hi."
Somehow all Elyce's thoughts about school faded. She glanced out the window, "So, what are you doing today?"

Sunlight spread over Landon's face and reached his eyes. Squinting, he sat up in bed. It was a nice day as he noticed out the window. The sun was starting to melt the snow covered ground. He realized he had managed to sleep most of the morning away and this depressed him a little. It was not like Landon to lay lazily in bed when he could be doing other, more productive things. Pulling on a pair of jeans and a navy blue, long-sleeved shirt, he grabbed his notebook and was out the door.
Considering breakfast, he realized it was too late and that lunch would start soon anyways. Plus, he wasn't really that hungry anyways. As he walked out into the common room, he noticed two younger girls chatting happily. He didn't know the one, but he recognized the other as Elyce. They had met a few days earlier outside where he managed to break up a fight between her and a young Slytherin girl. "Hey Elyce!" he said with a smile. "What are you up to?" he asked.
Turning to the other girl, he gave a friendly grin and extended his hand. "I'm Landon Campari, a fifth year. I don't believe we've met before." Landon didn't know if the girls really wanted him in their conversation, but a quick hello wouldn't hurt. He didn't have anything in particular to do until lunch anyways.

As Janae and Elyce were sitting there chatting the time away, a boy came over and introduced himself. He walked over looking as though he had just pulled himself out of bed and did not know what to do with himself. The enthusiasm that he said to Elyce was really encouraging for Janae to want to introduce herself. He introduced himself to her, and with her exuberant energy and willingness to make friends she introduced herself right back. "Hey, I am Janae Gilbert, a third year. We have not met before, but it is nice to be meeting now. How is your day going? If you don't have anywhere that you need to rush off to, you can pull up a chair and talk, as long as it is OK with Elyce of course."
Janae is always up for making new friends, and it was still early enough in the day that wasting a few hours or so would not hurt their attempt to get the homework done. Meeting and chatting with people was one of her greatest hobbies, and there is always time later on to make sure the responsibilities got done. She was excited to spend some time with a new person and to learn what she could about him.

Elyce was busy listening to Janae talk, she was surprised to hear Landon's voice. "Hey, Landon," she replied to him. He politely introduced himself to Janae, something that she should have done, but had forgotten to do. Regardless, Elyce faced Janae and with a half smirk on her face she said, "He's the one that so bravely saved me from that Slytherin girl, remember, I told you about him?"
Elyce was happy that Janae had invited Landon to come and hangout with them, she thought he and Janae would be a good friends, as long as she didn't chat his ear off within the first five minutes of meeting. Elyce turned to Landon, "So, what have you been up too? It's been awhile since our last encounter."
