Lacey let a brush slip through her hair quickly before pulling her hair into a messy bobble. It didn’t look very fancy but she wasn’t going out of the common room anyway so who would see her? A lot of people were out playing with the snow as this was one of those lovely days when the sun shined on the pure snow cover on the grounds making everything glisten brightly. Most people were outside as there were no classes today given the fact it was a weekend and Lacey was rather sure that the Quidditch team was having a practice. Nokomis and Ivy who were both on the team were also in her year and Lacey thought that she had seen them both leaving the castle with their quidditch equipment.
Lacey grabbed the big black of papers her Dad had given her for Christmas among other things and the big colourful bag for her pencils. As much as Lacey would have liked to go outside and play with the snow as well she couldn’t really. She had been forced to visit the Hospital Wing just the morning as she had came down with flu. There was still smoke rising from her ears after having swallowed Pepper-Up potion but Lacey felt completely up to shape now again.
Moving down to the common room Lacey looked around the empty room not knowing exactly whether to be happy about it or not. She liked having someone else in the room. People were fun to sketch even if Lacey had never been very good with drawing people. But they gave ideas and emotions for what you should draw. But she liked the peace that had taken over the common room just as well. And she could choose a place where she wanted to sit and draw herself. Walking over to the window sill Lacey opened the pencil bag and placed her pencils on the sill making sure that none would fall down. Only after that did Lacey seat herself upon the wide windowsill and opened the brand new sketchbook. It smelled like all new books and papers smell. A bit of inspiration, a little opportunities and a little like wood.
Smiling lightly to herself Lacey brushed back a bang of her hair that seemed to have escaped her bobble while she picked up blue pencil and stared out of the common room window for a while. Smiling a bit more widely after a moment Lacey put down the blue pencil and picking up the dark brown one instead Lacey placed it’s tip on the paper and pulled the first bold lin a little to the left of the center of the paper as she started to draw.
