Harmony gave her open, full trunk a final once-over, before smiling in satisfaction as she slammed it shut, locking it carefully as it sat side by side with Ari’s, waiting to be loaded into the car. It was lucky the Chans owned such a large seven-seater car, Harmony thought with relief as she opened the bedroom door and traipsed over to Aurora’s room down the corridor. Otherwise six people, three owls, one cat and four trunks would never fit, though Harmony supposed Jenny and George would’ve found a magical way around that. Glad that the contents of her trunk were as neat and orderly as possible (as was Ari’s), Harmony knocked politely on Aurora’s door, calling to warn her cousin and sister that she was going to enter. “It’s me. I’ve finished. Are you done yet?” Without waiting for a reply, Harmony opened the door and stuck her head round, her eyes landing on Ariane sitting on the floor beside an almost full trunk, Aurora running almost frantically around the room. “Are you missing something, Aurora?” Harmony asked curiously with a patient smile as she entered the half messy, half tidy bedroom.
“No… Just making sure I have everything.” Aurora replied with a wry grin as she opened a drawer quickly, then slammed it shut again when she realised there was nothing she needed. Ariane remained beside the trunk quietly, sorting through a mass of items on the floor and placing them into the container in a methodical fashion. “I’m almost done. Ari’s so good at this. She’s just like my mum.” Aurora smiled at the comparison, whilst Ariane rolled her eyes from her position, looking up at Harmony with a smile. “When I’m done, I’ll give you a shout, so mum and dad can help us move everything. Can you go check on Leo please, Harmony? The idiot’s probably doing last minute packing…”
Harmony left Aurora rolling her eyes and muttering fond comments about Leo, and headed towards said brother’s bedroom, next to Aurora’s. Harmony knocked on it, and Leo appeared at the door moments later. “Aurora wants me to hurry you up.” Harmony explained with a smile as Leo ushered her into his bedroom. “And I guess she was right. Last minute packing?” Harmony refrained a loud burst of laughter at the sight of Leo’s bedroom. In the centre next to a messy bed was an open trunk, not even half full, lots of items strewn recklessly around it like a halo.
“It’d be so much easier if I had magic to help me out. You should see how quickly I can pack my trunk at Hogwarts.” Leo grumbled good naturedly. “When are we leaving?”
“Aunt Jenny said we’d be leaving in ten minutes or so… We have to be ready for then, otherwise we’ll miss the train.” Harmony stated as she glanced at her watch with a slight frown. Leo swore loudly, causing Harmony to giggle, and the two set about trying to desperately cram everything into the trunk. Ariane and Harmony had always been the neat, prepared pair of the four. Leo and Aurora were much more laid back, though the latter had a flair for organising certain things. Finally, after ten frantic minutes, Harmony was filling the last layer of items into her cousin’s trunk, whilst Leo went to answer the door again. Jenny stood outside with a humoured smile, looking up at her taller son with a reprimanding glint in her eye. She was an inch or two shorter than the growing twelve-year-old, but she still undoubtedly dominated and ruled him… and everyone else in the household.
“Enlisting help, are we, Leo?” Jenny deadpanned as she caught an embarrassed Harmony attempting to shut the extremely full trunk, to no avail. With a flick of her wand, the lock was closed, and the container was already floating out of the bedroom whilst Leo attempted to protest to his mother’s raised eyebrows. Harmony followed the pair and the flying trunk to the upper landing, where three other cases were placed on the floor by the stairs, side by side. Jenny had obviously moved Harmony’s and Ariane’s whilst she had been aiding Leo. “George and the girls are already downstairs with the pets.” Jenny stated calmly as with another flick of her wand, the other three trunks rose in the air to accompany Leo’s and followed her retreating figure down the stairs. “Come on now. We don’t want to miss the train.”
An hour or so later, two adults, four teenagers, three owls, one cat and four trunks were standing on Platform Nine and Three Quarters, the train scheduled to leave in ten minutes. The children had their respective trunks and pets next to them, and were saying their farewells to Jenny and George. “Another year, here we go again!” Aurora stated excitedly, having already forgotten how little enthusiasm she reserved for the increased workload and NEWTs about to be brought onto her and Ari. She hugged her mother whilst Leo had already finished and was dragging his trunk and owl towards the train doors. Ariane and Harmony also stated their goodbyes to their uncle and aunt, as well as their thanks, before boarding the train soon after Leo, followed by a somewhat reluctant Aurora, despite her cheerfulness. Harmony knew, even though she was not best friends with the Hufflepuff like her sister was, that Aurora didn’t want to leave her parents and Domino behind. But it was necessary. Jenny and George’s faces were lost in the crowd of people that surrounded them as Harmony pushed her way into the train. Already lots of Hogwarts students were roaming the carriages, calling out to friends. Harmony smiled to a few familiar faces, before stopping Ariane and Aurora, indicating a compartment at the end.
“How about that one?” She suggested, and proceeded to open the door. Inside though, were two familiar figures, and Harmony blushed with embarrassment as she realised what she had stumbled upon. “I’m sorry, I thought this compartment was empty…” Harmony stammered as she tried to back away. However, before you could leave, the boy looked up and tapped her on the shoulder, greeting her with a friendly smile.
Harmony blinked. She didn’t really recognise the two people sitting in front of her. Who could they possibly be? However, the confusion was cleared when Ezzie explained the situation, to which Harmony gave an amused laugh. “I didn’t recognise you there, sorry.” She apologised warmly. She hadn’t seen the two since the incident a month ago during the holidays, but it looked like the two Gryffindors had gotten together, and Harmony was pleased for them. “Aurora, Ari, it’s Ethan and Ezzie… They’re using polyjuice potion.” Harmony turned around and informed her company. Aurora craned her neck around Harmony’s shoulder to blink at the couple in the compartment. Then she gave a delighted grin with a friendly wave.
“Yo guys! Ethan, I see you’re going steady Good for you, dude!” Aurora sent him a conspiratory wink. “I’m sorry I couldn’t come to the party…” She apologised quickly, before grinning again, “Ezzie, make sure he treats you well.” She directed at the girl. “Nice to see you both doing well.” Aurora added genuinely, before turning to Harmony. “How about we leave you here? Leo’s already disappeared. Ari and I will go look for an empty compartment. Come look for us later, and catch up with the golden couple here in place of me, okay?” Aurora clapped Harmony on the back whilst the younger girl nodded her affirmation, and soon a silent Ari was dragged off by her best friend. “See you round, Ethan, Ezzie!” Aurora cried, before being swallowed up in the crowd.
“I’m fine, thanks.” Harmony smiled as she took a seat opposite the two, her trunk and Dori having been carted off with her cousin and sister. “You? I hope you’re okay after… you know.” Harmony was once again reminded of the close shave her and Ezzie had endured during their holidays, and refrained a shudder at the thought. “You look much better now, Ezzie. Though I can’t see your face…” Harmony gave a quiet laugh. “So how were your holidays, you two? I hope you don’t mind me sitting with you…” She felt somewhat uncomfortable in their presence, since she had interrupted them in a close moment.
