Myka had never really celebrated the New Year all that much. She hadn’t celebrated anything actually, besides Christmas and even that wasn’t a huge celebration. Only this year she had celebrated with a person she adored. Katy and she had run away to a hotel in London on Christmas Eve and there they had stayed until the day after Christmas. Katy had gotten Myka some presents and in return, Myka told Katy she loved her. Now they were both aware of one another’s feelings, but they didn’t know what they were. Myka hummed as she thought about all that happened and applied her eye make up. It was a light silver and at the corner of her eyes, Myka had stars. She also had a shimmer across her face, neck, exposed chest, and back.
The teenage girl had decided to wear a short and tight black dress. It was strapless and reached about her mid thighs. She wore extremely tall heels, though she would probably end up taking off the shoes once they were at the party. She also planned on wearing a jean jacket. Her brown hair was straightened so it reached a bit below her chin. Her lips were a plush pink and they contrasted nicely against her tan skin. Myka left the bathroom and grabbed up her jacket and small purse. It was small enough to hold her keys, money, and a lipstick tube. She made sure she had the card key for the hotel room and turned of all the lights. She hadn’t returned home after Katy had gone home. Her parents weren’t ready yet. So she rented the room out for another week or so and then practically lived there. Perhaps next year she should move out, she would be legally of age in the wizarding world. She could get a house there. Maybe she and Katy could live together. Myka let the thoughts roll around before shoving them out of her mind.
Once in the lobby, Myka bade a farewell to the woman behind the counter. She had been driving around for a bit, and hadn’t been caught. She was a cautious driver, so she didn’t plan on getting caught at any time. It was rather cold out, but Myka didn’t mind it. She unlocked the driver’s seat and sat down. Soon she was out on the road and following the directions to the hotel Katy was staring at with her brother. They had transferred Mr. Hudson to a hospital in London. Myka turned on the radio and sung along with her CD. Soon enough, she reached the hotel and parked in the parking lot. She stepped out, her stiletto heels clicking against the pavement as she walked to the lobby. When she stepped inside she almost collided with someone. Myka looked up and nearly gasped. Katy’s brother, Kyle, stood in front of her. “Oh, hey.” Myka muttered, running her fingers through her hair. “Uh, I’m here to pick up Katy for the party.”
He just stood there and didn’t say anything. Myka shifted her weight uncomfortably and then started to move out of his way when he said, “Room 102. It’s not as snazzy as your room was, but it’s big enough for the both of us.” Myka smiled slightly and nodded, fidgeting with her keys. Kyle went to leave when Myka grabbed his arm, “Look, Kyle, she didn’t want you to find out that way. Hell, she only found out awhile back. She wanted to get comfortable with it before she told anyone. Don’t hurt her and be angry at her for wanting to understand what was going on with her. If anything, be angry at me for getting her to realize it.” Kyle didn’t do anything but yank his arm away from her and walk off. Myka sighed and headed to the room, which was on the first floor. Once there, she knocked on the door and waited for it to swing open.

Things were actually starting to get back on track in Katy's life. Her father got a life saving surgery that removed diseased disks in her spinal cord replacing them. It had made a miraculous change in his mind. He had improved a hundred percent, but still couldn’t speak since the trach was still in his throat since the surgery. Another great thing that happened in Katy’s life was that she now knew how Myka felt about her. The two loved each other, but it was confusing on where their relationship was going. Just as long as they were hanging out and talking to each other Katy didn’t mind where it was going. Though her life may be just fine, there still was something bugging her, Kyle. Even though the shock had sunk in he just didn’t seem to look at Katy the same. Katy could tell he was still confused about everything by just looking into his eyes. She didn’t understand why he could just accept this about her. He was her brother and he always took things the right way. She expected her father to be like this, not her very own brother. The worst thing was Katy couldn’t even talk to him about. Since they moved into the hotel room they only exchanged at least five words to each other.
“I would get a move on if you want to make it to the party in time,” Kyle said while turning the channel of the TV. Katy turned on her hells to look at him. He was laid out on the bed with his hands under his neck, not even taking his eyes away from the TV. “Wow you actually said something besides hi or bye,” she said, sarcasm dripping in her voice. Turning back around, Katy took out a brown shirt, black skirt, and a pair of boots from her suitcase. “Are you going to go see dad again tonight?” she asked zipping the suitcase back up again. “Yeah. I wish you would come again, since you’re not afraid of everything anymore.” Katy shrugged not looking his way. She didn’t want him to see the frown on her face. “I told him that I was going to a party, remember? He wrote on that clipboard to have fun and that I would look beautiful.” Smiling at the memory began to walk to the bathroom and started the shower. Kyle didn’t say anything but she knew what he was thinking.
Thirty minutes latter, Katy was already out with her hair all dried. The window of the bathroom was all foggy and the air was warm. Rubbing some lotion onto her dried skin she smiled at the smell of the roses. She loved anything that smelled good, but rose and vanilla scents. Applying a little black eyeliner on her eyelids, she than also applied a pretty shade of brown on her eyes. Smiling she than put on some juicy lip-gloss that made her pink lips shine in the light. Happy with her makeup choices, she than pulled on the brown top and the dressy black skirt. The top showed a lot of her skin and even a small section of her back, but it was covered up by a fine lacey material. It showed off her figure nicely. The skirt also was just a bit slanted up her mid thigh, but nothing too bad. Taking out a body glitter brush, she brushed on white sparkles on her bare skin and even face. Setting the brush back in her makeup bag, she fluffed up her red hair a bit. It looked strangely lighter today and frizzy.
“I’m going now. Make sure you don’t stay out too long with her,” Kyle spoke through the door making Katy glare at the hard wood. “Her name is Myka and I’ll make sure to stay out until six in the morning!” Katy rubbed her temples as the main door of the room shut. Shaking it off, she left the bathroom and was greeted by the cool air. Sitting down on the edge of the bed, Katy slipped on the pair of black boots that reached just a little below her knee and were made with fine, soft material. They were Katy’s favorite boots, and were very comfortable to stand in all night. Hearing a knock on the door a grin brightened her face as she grabbed a coat from the chair opening the door. Her breath got caught in her throat seeing Myka standing there. Her friend looked absolutely beautiful. Smiling, Katy took hold of both of Myka’s hands leaning in to drop a sweet kiss on her friend’s lips. “You look stunning my love!”

The door opened and Katy stood in the frame. The way the light fell on her made her look like an angel. Katy kissed her and then said she looked great. Myka smiled sheepishly and looked down at her feet. When she looked back up she smiled a bright smile, “Thanks. You look lovely, I love that shirt, and I’m going to have to borrow it sometime.” She smirked and leaned over to the close the door. Since her arm was already behind Katy, she rested it on her hip and steered the girl down the hall to the lobby. “So, I uh saw your brother on my way to your room. He looks better than he did at my hotel. At least this time he didn’t run off.” Myka pulled Katy closer to her as they reached the door, which Myka opened and waited for Katy to exit before she left the warmth of the building. She led her to the car and then opened the door for her. “It’s a good thing you stayed in London, considering the party is in England. Of course, we won’t be able to drive there. It’s too far away. We can Floo from my house, though.” Myka smiled. It would be the first time she went home in a week, but that didn’t matter because her parents would already be out anyway. At least she didn’t have to worry about them. Myka flipped the turn signal on and started the drive toward her house. The music flowed through the car and it was the only sound.
Finally, they reached the Young mansion and Myka parked the car. She got out, making sure she had everything, and then opened the door for Katy. “Come on, they won’t be in.” She laced her fingers with Katy’s and then walked up to the front door. There, she inserted her house key and turned it. Once inside, she shut the door behind them and made her way into the living room where the fireplace was. She plucked the velvet satchel full of Floo powder. Taking some in her hand, she pulled Katy into the fireplace, which was kept impeccably clean because Myka’s mother hated getting soot all over her, and threw the powder down while saying quite clearly. “Lyme Park near Oldham!” Soon they were whisked away. They passed through many fireplaces and then were spit out of a grand fireplace in a study. Myka laughed and brushed off her clothes, though they weren’t too sooty. She pushed a strand of hair out of Katy’s face, still laughing. “I always liked traveling by floo.” She placed her hand on the small of Katy’s back and led her from the study. There were already people there and it was already bustling. The place looked magnificent, balloons and such everywhere. The night was filled with stars, nothing like in the city where the lights drowned out the brilliance of them.
Myka set her jacket and purse on the table and then helped Katy with her things. There was soft music playing and Myka looked at Katy. “Come on, there might not be any stars to dance on tonight, but we can dance under them.” Myka pulled Katy to her as they reached the dance floor. It was a slow beat, so all they had to do was sway and dance in a circle. Myka’s arms slipped around Katy and her hands were clasped behind Katy’s back. She wasn’t too much taller than Katy with her heels on, so Katy was able to lean her head on Myka’s shoulder easily. They danced in a small circle to the music, and Myka finally whispered in her ear, “Where do we go from here, Himemiya?”

Katy continued to grin up at Myka, her eyes fixed on the girls. There were stars at the edges of her eyes that shined under the lights. Nodding her head and smiling even more as Myka said she would have to borrow the top, Katy felt an arm behind her back. Turning over her shoulder to watch the door shut, Myka had slipped her hand on Katy’s hip directing her toward the lobby. They were only half way through the red carpet when Myka spoke about bumping in her brother. Sighing as the two scooted closer together she looked back at her friend. “Lets not talk about him. He’s still acting like an immature brat and its just getting really frustrating. I would expect that kind of reaction from my father not my brother,” she spoke softly looking back at the street in front of her. Cold air rushed past her as they stepped out into the parking lot to a familiar blue car. Myka opened the passenger side door for Katy as she slipped inside of the car. Buckling the seatbelt Katy dug her cold hands into the pockets of her coat, waiting for Myka to get into the car. The engine started and within seconds the car was rolling down a busy street with music blasting from the radio.
The ride was quiet, expect for the sounds of music filling the silence. She was a little bite nervous about going back to Myka’s house. What if her parents were home? Anyways, wouldn’t it just be a better idea to just drive to the party? The car had parked silencing Katy’s thoughts while the side door opened. Smiling at Myka as their hands soon laced together, they walked back into the house. The mansion was empty and that was a relief for Katy as she was standing in the living room, her hands still glued together with Myka’s. The older girl had taken a handful of floo powder then pulling Katy in the fireplace next to her before throwing down the fine grains, calling out clearly the location of the castle. Green flames appeared casting the two into a spinning motion. This was the expect reason why Katy hated traveling by the floo system. It felt like some kind of roller coaster that just constant loops. It wasn’t like Katy hated roller coasters, just that the constant moving made her very light headed.
Reaching their destination, Katy held on tight to Myka’s hand as they exited the fireplace. Her head was spinning making the whole room do the same as well. Shutting her eyes shut hard she reopened them to see Myka moving a strand of her hair away from her eyes. “I hate traveling by floo powder. Though, I don’t have a big enough chimney for it and the fact that my families are all muggles,” she said finally regaining her site. Brushing off the white powder from her coast, Katy followed Myka to the main hall where they stopped by a table to set their things down. Putting her coat down next to Myka’s stuff she smiled as the girl as the dance. Not resisting as Myka pulled her closer as they walked onto the dance floor she draped her arms around the girl’s neck. Resting her head on Myka’s shoulder, she smiled feeling the girl’s touch on her back. They danced slowly but closely together. There wasn’t even a worry in Katy’s mind as too even watching them, even if it were Hogwarts students.
Katy closed her eyes as the music played on until she heard Myka whisper in her ear. Looking up from the girl’s shoulder she thought about the question. Where were they supposed to go from this point? “I don’t know Utena…All I know is that were finally together and whatever we do we’ll be together for eternity I hope,” she whispered into the girl’s ear before resting her forehead against hers. The music continued on softly and slowly as she leaned in closer to Myka.

Myka smiled and shook her head lightly at Katy’s response. They continued to dance, Myka holding onto Katy tight. Katy had given Myka one of those responses that meant she wanted an idea on what Myka thought. Only, if Myka knew, she wouldn’t have asked Katy. “Katy…” She paused, wondering if she should really say what she wanted to say next. “We aren’t really together. That’s what I was asking. I was never good at hiding relationships; I never liked to keep it a secret. And if you aren’t comfortable with your sexuality… that’s all we’d be doing, hiding things.” Myka moved her forehead away from Katy’s so she could rest her cheek against the other girl’s cheek. “I just don’t want to hide anything, it’s not who I am.” Myka closed her eyes and continued to dance with Katy as the music played on. She wanted to savor this moment; she didn’t know when Katy would be carefree enough to let Myka hold her like this in public again. Once the song was finished, Myka released her hold on Katy and then looked around. There was a sparkling sign that said ‘Food’ and had an arrow. Myka smiled softly, and led Katy back to the table.
“I’m going to get us some food; I’ll be back in a moment.” She kissed Katy’s cheek and then walked toward the food area. Myka piled some food onto two plates. She balanced the two plates on her right arm and then grabbed two glasses of sparkling cider. She made her way back to the table where she set Katy’s plate down with a flourish and then set her drink down beside it. She then took her seat and set her plate and glass down as well. “Bon appetite.” Myka ate the salad first and then picked at the bread. Her stomach was in knots, she didn’t know what to do or say. It was as if she were at a loss with words. Words use to come so easy to her when she was talking with Katy, but now? Now it was like she had to force them out. Perhaps it was because she was so vulnerable to everything. Myka pushed a piece of fruit around on her plate with her fork, still searching for something to say. After a moment of silence, Myka looked up, “So, I was thinking. I’ve liked living on my own for the past couple of days. So I was thinking that when I turn 17, I can move out and live on my own.”

Katy’s eyes were still closed as she sensed something was wrong with Myka. There was silence for a moment, until the girl spoke. Myka’s words pierced Katy’s heart. Why couldn’t she just be more open about who she was? If their relationship was going to work, then she had to drop all her insecurities. Maybe Myka’s love could be enough to do that. The only problem was that Katy didn’t want to keep this girl waiting, probably even driving her away. Biting her lower, she kept her eyes closed as their checks brushed softly together. All Katy’s worries softened feeling the softness between their skins. How was she ever going to conquer this? Katy’s thought’s stilled as the music stopped. Myka had let go of her and the two walked over toward the table with their things on it. Nodding her head as Myka said she would get some food, a smile soon appeared on her face as the girl kissed her check before walking away. Taking a seat down at the table, Katy moved their jackets aside and everything to make room for the plates.
It only took Myka a couple minutes to come back carrying food. The smell of the food traveled in the air, up Katy’s noise which made her sigh. She hadn’t eaten anything large all day. Hospital food wasn’t that appealing. Katy had just began to eat when Myka spoke, breaking the silence between. Stopping the fork in mid air hearing her friend mention move out, Katy raised an eyebrow. “Where would you live?” she asked setting the fork back down before adding onto the sentence, “Of course I would support you a hundred a percent, but only if you let me come over whenever I feel like it.” Grinning at Myka she moved around the food on the plate with a fork. Maybe she should tell Myka why she was so insecure about herself. “Do you know why I can’t deal with everybody knowing I’m gay?” she asked her voice low and sad as the memories filled again through her mind. It wasn’t an easy story to tell.
“I liked this one girl Cat. She had the most beautiful, black, curly hair that bounced whenever she walked. Her eyes were also the lightest color of brown and she was my best friend. When she found out I was gay, she left me, wouldn’t even talk to me. She told all our friends and before I knew it I was getting personal attack from people. To top it off, she would just laugh at me whenever she saw me…” Katy began a tear rolling down her check. “I know its apart of being gay to deal with the laughter, but what she did to me left a scar and ruined my life.”

Myka shrugged slightly as Katy asked where she would live. She hadn't really thought that far. In fact she wasn't completely one hundred percent that she was going to move out. She just liked the idea of her moving away from her parents. Her hand went up to her hair and she started to fiddle with it. "I don't know where I'd live, probably somewhere near Hogsmeade so I can still get to school. You can buy houses in Hogsmeade, can't you? I don't see why not. It is a village after all." Myka bit her lip and then shrugged again. Katy could help her look for a place to live when the time came. Though the idea of living in a cottage in Hogsmeade really made Myka a little bit excited. She smiled at the thought of living on her own and Katy visiting whenever she wanted. "Of course, you could visit. Just make sure you let me know when you're stopping by so I can clean up at least a bit."
With a smile, Myka started to eat again, she stopped with her fork halfway to her mouth when Katy brought up the next topic. "Katy you don't have to te-" but the girl was already starting the story. Myka set her fork on her plate and leaned back in her chair, her arms crossed. Whatever Katy had to tell Myka, Myka would be supportive and understanding. As Katy told her about Cat, Myka felt that familiar feeling of anger. Anger at the ignorant people who would never really know true love because they were afraid of the unknown. They would never understand. Never truly be happy. This Cat girl, was just another person in the ignorant sea of people who refused to see what Myka or any other gay person saw. When Katy finished, Myka sighed and looked down at her salad, "No, Katy, that's not anything about being gay. People just don't understand and they shouldn't take it out on us."
"I never really had to deal with that, so I can't completely tell you that.. uh.. it's the way things happen. Because honestly, they shouldn't. I just... I'm sorry. You shouldn't let this Cat person and what she did ruin everything for you, though. Life is better now.. you're older, you can deal."
