“Excuse me you stupid little first years, would you be so kind as to GET OUT OF OUR WAY! ” A voice bellowed over a small crowd of Gryffindor and Hufflepuff first years, causing Brianna to whip around and search out, immediately, for the speaker. Of course- who else could it be- it was a Slytherin. A fourth year, by the looks of it. Brianna glared at the greasy-haired boy and his friends until they prowled off, no doubt in search of other prey to torture. Brianna didn’t know what it was that annoyed her about the Slytherins. Some of them, not many, but some, could be nice. The majority were obviously cruel, cold-hearted idiots too big for their own boots but there was something else that annoyed her. She remembered with a smile when she had first arrived at Hogwarts, and wanted desperately to belong in Slytherin due to the colour green suiting her better, she then believed. Turns out blue ended up far nicer for her anyway.
Ignoring the annoying itch on her left arm, afraid her pink Puffskein may fall from her arms if she scratched the area, Brianna walked to corridors absent-mindedly, not really sure of where to go. Almost automatically she found herself wandering towards the Library, wondering if she had any revision to do. Maybe she could finish writing that letter to her parents and sister. Being Muggles, Brianna’s family always doted on hearing from their youngest daughter. They knew how happy Brianna had been when she got invited to Hogwarts in the first place and her parents, at least, shared her awe and wonder and the huge castle. Only her elder sister Lana disagreed with the place. She didn’t think it much at first- just a weird, abnormal thing her little sister had been accepted to. But when Brianna came home from her first term with a pink fluffy creature in her arms and a magical wand, she began to dislike this strange castle her sister went off to every year.
Brianna had actually spoken to her mother about it- but she only said that Lana cared for Brianna so much she didn’t want to see her getting hurt in this strange place she didn’t know about. Although Brianna didn’t see this view from looking at her elder sister she tried to include Lana with her thoughts and interest of Hogwarts, as much as the rules allowed anyway. But when, after weeks of sending long, detailed letters and tempting Lana with everything possible to be interested in Hogwarts even slightly, Brianna put her sister’s reluctance to know down to Jealousy.
Walking into the library Brianna glanced momentarily around, taking in the room. The furnished shelves stacked high with books of all shapes and sizes towered over her, casting shadows everywhere. In between the shelves were tables and after seizing a quill, some black ink and a roll of parchment from her over-the-shoulder green bag, Brianna settled herself at an empty table and began to write. Rather hard thing to do with her Puffskein Alico chirruping at her side joyfully, but she did her best.
