Dresden sat at a table in the back of the library. She had been sat here for over an hour trying to do a simple transfiguration spell, and had been having no luck at all. She was tired, and frustrated. Bringing her wand hand up into the air, she aimed it at the spider she had found outside earlier. "Feriverto". Nothing happened. She tried again. "Feriverto." Still nothing."Feriverto, feriverto, feriverto!"
Dresden dropped her wand onto the table, and let her upper body slide forward, hitting her head on the table. She brought her head up a few inches and let it fall down again. I SO should have stayed in bed today.
Dresden brought her arm up from under the table and placed it under her head. Turning her head sideways, she saw her spider just about to walk off the end of the table. "I don't think so." She reached blindly for her wand as she watched the spider walk over the side. Grabbing it, she lazily aimed it in the general direction of the spider. "Accio spider." The spider came flying into her hand. Closing her hand so it wouldn't get away, she felt something wet in with it. She opened her hand to inspect it. The spider lay on her hand dead. She had accidentally squished it. "Now that is disgusting."
Looking around to see if anyone was watching, she flicked the dead spider onto the floor and wiped her hands on her robe.Great. Now I don't have a spider, and I still can't get that spell to work. Sighing, she leaned back in her chair.

Crumbling up a scratched out piece of parchment he sighed. He was trying to write a letter to his mom and his usually easy talkative side of him went blank. He didn't want to tell her something that would make her worry but he also didn't want to lie to her either. Scratching his head slightly he threw the parchment into the common room fire. He watched amusedly as the parchment caught fire and burned. He loved fire he was what people called a firebug or that is what his mother and friends called him anyways Once when he was a little boy he threw in all of his mothers scarves into the fire hoping that maybe all the different colors would make the flames different colors, well it didn't work and he was grounded for a week after that.
All the noise in the common room today was distracting him. He could usually just ignore it but today for some reason he couldn't. Picking up his bag that was on the floor next to the big comfy chair he was sitting in he quickly threw all of his possessions that he had taken out back in his bag. Standing up rather reluctantly he looked around the room. Everyone was so happy and was having a good time. Waving at a few of his friends that had caught his eyes he turned around slowly and just as slowly walked out of the common room.
He hated the library with a passion and never went there unless he had to. It was nothing against the teacher it was just that the whole he have to be quite and all there was to do is read kind of bored him. He enjoyed going outside much more. It cleared his head and he enjoyed it. He couldn't go outside today though because it was raining. It had been raining a lot lately and it was starting to make Derrick restless and temperamental.
Shaking his head slightly with a smile as he saw a couple first years running threw the hall screaming and laughing as the other one would tackle them he kept walking. When he finally entered the library he walked to the back of the library and scanned the tables. A few of them were full of older students studying and a few were empty. Picking a table with only one person sitting at it he said in a polite manner "Hey there I am Derrick Kennel Hufflepuff third year."

Dresden turned her head in the direction of the voice she had heard. She had just been about to fall asleep too, not even realizing that her eyes were closed. Opening them, she found her self looking at a boy her age. She had seen him around before, but nowhere that she could specifically place him. "Dresden Amnell, soon to be a returning third year."
Dresden moved again so she was leaning on the table, with her arms up and her hands in her chin. She tilted her head to the side, so she could just see Derrick. Her eyes felt like they were going to roll back in her head, but she stayed that way anyways. She knew she must look comical, but that never stopped her."Ravenclaw. Probably the last house I belong in right now. You can grab a chair and sit down if you like."
Dresden had given up in hopes that she would learn the spell. It's just too hard. When will I ever need it anyways? She grabbed her wand and put it into her pocket. Placing one hand under her chin, she leaned onto the table again. "You like spiders? I just killed one." A bit of humor. Maybe it wasn't the funniest thing, but it cheered her up a little.
Dresden looked at Derrick and hoped he wasn't one of those, 'we must save all the animals, even the little fleas, because we need fleas' kind of person. The last thing she really needed was a lecture on how spiders contribute to the circle of life, and that she was a sick and twisted person for killing. It was after all, an accident.
