Dare whistled „Foxy lady“ as he stood calmly his one shoulder leaned against the hallway wall as he peered curiously a the people passing him. In all houses there were smart people and there were also slackers. Each quality was represented in each house, yet sometimes it paid to be traditional as well. So as Dare was one of the slackers of Gryffindor house he was now silently pickingout a pretty Ravenclaw who wouldn’t mind tutoring and helping him on with his homework yet again. Pretty girl, tutoring and perhaps some fun light flirting. What could be better? “Ooh, foxy lady, I wanna take you home,“ Dare sang out with a half-voice and winking at a passing first or second year pushed himself off the wall having spotted someone who might work for this occasion. Black hair, nice slim figure and grace of movements as the girl was athletic as well. And more importantly – the prefect badge showed that she had to be bright as well.
Dare waved his wand happily and quick-paced music filled the hallay as he approached the girl from behind. His hands fell easily on the hips of the Raveclaw prefect as he pulled her into a quick salsa not caring at all what other people around them might have thought. Actually they were given a surprisingly wide range of room to dance at and Dare was pelasnatly surprised as the girl came along with the dance without any problems. The music ended within a moment as Dare dipped the girl ina dramatic ending to the dance. With Dare completely bowed over his arms on her back were pretty much the only things holding her from falling to the ground as Dare smiled down at the face of his current dance-partner. „Afternoon, sweetheart.“
Dare smiled and shifted one of his legs lightly to distribute the combined weight of both himself and Dana better. „You were walking down the hallway and my heart almost forgot beating. I have a real problem, sweetheart, one that only you can solve. Will you help the admirer and save his life before I perish in the Potions classroom unable to do any work becuase I can’t stop thinking about such pretty face. With your quick wit and helpful nature to who other might I turn to for some one-on-one time in the library... tutoring your new friend Dare let’s say.“ Dare winked mischievously having asked for help but still managing to add a flirting undertone to his words as well. Now he could only wait and see the reaction he would receive.
((Slight god-moding here I know but you said it was fine))

Dana smiled and talked with a couple of girls in her class as the bell rang and they all piled out of the classroom which was the last one for today. Dana wasn’t exactly best friends with them, but they got along great. Random frend or a very good acquintances. Actually no, these girls were more than acquintances. Dana laughed at Karen’s words and was about to reply when loud and bright music started in the hallway. Dana was about to turn around to see who chose to play music – not that she minded, as the tune was rather good – but before she could really move two unmistakeably male hands landed on her hips. Dana let out a little yelp and let her bag drop from her shoulder but joined in with the quick danc-emoves easily. Luckily the guy was a good dancer and didn’t step on her toes once.
His arms wounded around his shoudlers Dana let herself dipped, her leg raising around the boy’s hip to finish the figure. It was a very unstable position and one that Dana wouldn’t have liked to share with someone she didn’t know and therefore didn’t trust. But she was sure to hide all signs of her insecurity deep inside her as she arched a curious eye-brow at the boy who was smiling down at her while holding her practically parallel to the floor. The guy looked cute in his own dishevelled way and Dana couldn’t help but grin at his words. It had been... long... since someone last flirted with her this freely and openly. This guys attitude was refreshing even if his flirting wasn’t that overly subtle.
„Well, I hope you taught your heart to beat again, because I wouldn’t want you to faint or die on top of me,“ Dana commented with a coolly arched eye-brow patting the boys shoudler she was holding onto with amusement. The guy seemed to understand and turning and whirling pulled htem both graceful out of the figure so both were standing again. Eyeing the girl Dana pondered. He was around her age but she hadn’t seen him in any class and such an attitude was hard to miss. So maybe he was a 5th year. „Wouldn’t want someone as good-looking as you to perish now, would we? So I do have the time to tutor you – though we’ll see about the one-on-one time – if you wish. Especially since it gives me time to use my ’quick wit’ to proverbially kick your ass. The only questions is when? I’m free right now, if you wish as you don’t seem the type to sit and wait patiently for anything, Dare, old boy.“

The girl was a good actress. Or good at hiding her feelings. Suddenly Dare found himself doubting for a moment as he didn’t know much about the girl other than she was a Ravenclaw and a prefect and could dance salsa. But the she seemed to be almost amused so Dare found himself smiling back at her even if he had smiled at her no matter if she shared the notion or not. But she most certainly took this a whole lot calmer than a lot of other girls would have. Becuase how often did someone random pull you into a quick salsa beat in the midlde of your school hallway? „Not to fear, sweetheart, I didn’t sweep you off your feet only to put you through the shame of collapsing on op of you in a faint.“ Stepping backwards Dare helped the girl rise to stand at her full height yet again as they twirled twice more down the hallway to regain their balances. Dare took a step back but kept on os his hands on the prefects waist as he smiled to her as charmingly as he could.
The girl didn’t seem very offended and Dare gave a bright grin as she agreed to tutor him. It was perfect. He could rest assured that he knew everything he needed for the test and he would spend time with enchanting company as well. „I would love the time spent in your company. And right now sounds absolutely perfect! Her elet me get that for you, sweetheart.“ Dare manouvered the girls bag onto his own shoulder giving a bit surprised grunt at the weight settling on his back. What did she have in there to make the bag so heavy? Yet it didn’t show one bit in her posture that she had a couple of bricks hanging from one of her shoulders. Anyone who thought that females were the weaker gender were seriously stupid Dare concluded silently in his head. Girls alwyas had so much stuff with them that it was a wonder they could drag it around and find anything they might actually need among all the junk.
Dare smiled as they started down the hallway heading towards the shortest route towards the library. With it’s quiet setting and relative privacy it was the perfect place for some flirting so Dare frequented there rather easily and not only to develop his academic skills. „Don’t look at me so cruelly. I only wish to admire your company without nothing or no one robbing the beautiful smile of yours from me. Can you not share that bit of one-on-one time? And I’m truly flattered you think me of acceptable enough to be seen in your company.“

Dana arched an eyebrow letting the boy take her bag and carry it. While the movement wasn’t necessary it was gentleman-ish. This guy seemed to be born in a wrong century, if he always tried to act some knight-ish. None the less Dana couldn’t help but laugh at his surprised expression at the weight of her bag. What did he expect? She was a Ravenclaw. That meant she carried along all the books for all the classes of the day plus some extra-books for some background information she might or might not need in class. Reaching her hand out Dana took hold of Dare’s wrist removing his hand from her waist with a small smirk: „Sorry, boy, but it takes a lot more to make my knees go weak. And therefore you are far from sweeping me off my feet.“
None the less the guys behaviour was amusing. Not everyone could be so pushy in getting what they wanted immidiately, but this guy even manged to be amusing and polite while getting his way. Dana couldn’t help but admire such a trait and ksill in diplomacy while it might get irritating if you were forced to tolerate such behaviour day and night all year along. None the less Dana let herself be steered towards the library. The boys enthusiasm in his hurry to get there was slight suspicious arousing but his next words did prove that he had had a 2nd point hidden in his words as well. Noone to rob Dana’s attention from him in the library? Dana made a mental note to pick a table that wasn’t in some hidden or secluded corner.
They weaved their way trhough people going the opposite way – who wanted to be stuck in the library on a Fridya after class anyway? - while Dana oculdn’t help but laugh at Dare’s words yet again. „You know as well as me, that you look great. Charming, perfect. You’ll put all male-models to shame. And we’ll see about robbing. Must admit that you are a bit too young for me. Unfrotunately. Or I would lock you up somewhere so you wouldn’t go around flirting with every other girl. What subject do you need tutoring in?“ Checking the mental note she had done previously Dana chose a seat in clear view of madam Pince nodding to the old librarian in calm greeting, „What subject and which area of which subject? I’m all ears to listen to your problem.“

The girl removed his hand from her waist without any excess words and Dare felt a bit uncertain for a moment. Either this girl was very seriously in love and envolved with someone or she was used to guys flirting with her. But she did flirt back with her so the option of her being in love was rather doubtful. „I’m glad. Glad for you. And glad for me. It means you have safekept your heart and with that also mine. I’m glad no one has had the chance to broke your heart and this way I know that there will never been a corner in your heart where you think about some old crush while spending time with me. But, sweetheart, was that a challenge I heard in your voice? An open invitation to do my very best to make your knees go weak? I will take that invitation and give my everything to make you forget all about your worries while you are with me.“ As if to officially accept the challenge Dare bowed low over Dana’s hand raising it to his lips but not yet kissing it as he hadn’t managed with the dare just yet.
„I’m not called Dare for nothing, sweetheart. But now you are just laughing at me. I could never compete with the models your eye has so approvingly stopped upon. I’m just a simple country-fella who admires from afar and tries to gather enough courage to offer you a simple bloom I picked from a wheat-field. The only problem is that I don’t even have a flower to offer you as there are no wheat-fields around Hogwarts that I know of.“ Dare looked sadly at Dana opening the door to her quickly as he had to bite back a bit of laughter trying to bubble out of her. She had chosen a seat in clear view of the librarian after challenging him to sweep her off her feet. Maybe she wasn’t feeling as secure as she displayed after all. „Too young? But you are perfect. A free soul ready to fly to the distance as you follow moonbeams to dance in the enchanted garden where they lead you with the merry folk of fairies,“ dare said with a wide grin as he circled the library picking up the required books on Arithmancy and Potions they might look over before returning to the table and taking a seat opposite of Dana showing the Arithmancy book to her. „Arithmancy if I may ask. And while your two ears are lovely in shape and nice the way they are I really do love you enough as you are, so please do not sprout any more ears or shapeshift to listen to my humble words.“

Dana snickered at Dare’s words. He could play around with them most certainly. He almost seemed to warn you against guys who come and flirt with you even if they have never before talked to you – just like Dare himself had done. Yet he could present his words in a way that made you think twice if they actually were true about himself as well or was he really sincere with his admiration. Dana felt herself relaxing a little. Words and diplomacy were a firm part of her forte as well after all. “In other words are you trying to warn me to not fall in love with some random guy in the hallways who smiles at me and perhaps flirts with me? But at that case you are warning me to stay away from you, so how am I supposed to react? Flee running and crying to find someone to protect my fickle heart?” Dana asked with a slight smirk bowing her head in response to Dare’s reply to what he decided to take as a challenge. It hadn’t really been meant as one, but it might turn out to be amusing at the very least.
“You call yourself Dare. What is Dare short for anyway? If anything at all? And true. I can think of a male-model or two from commercials who would get a 11/10 ranking from me. I’m afraid you can’t really compete with those. Some people just are bigger than life,” Dana patted Dare’s hand while trying to look sympathetic as the boy could pull excellent facial grimaces, “Unfortunately I’m not bigger than life either, so I don’t have much of a chance with those guys. So I’m still going to agree to accept flowers as well. And why wheat-field? There are even prettier flowers growing in the wild . Some forest blooms that grow near the forest edge even at here. There are nice places in the Forbidden Forest as well if you don’t venture too far into it. And if you don’t want me to listen to you, then I’ll just use these ears of mine to support ear-rings. Which part of Arithmancy? Numerology that connects to people’s personalities? And yes, too young. I prefer my dates to be as old as me or older. However mean you think it is. And I can't really go and dance with the fairies. Because everytime I reach that magical garden you talk about I turn and find my teddy-bear and wake up only to discover that I have been kicked out of the garden.”

“You, sweetheart, are nothing but fickle. And I’m very much afraid that should I upset you then you wouldn’t go running for help but rather try to teach me to behave yourself. And you just might be able to easily succeed in that. And I do not wish to cause any sadness in those pretty eyes. You do not take me seriously and say I’m too young, so do not at least rob me of your pleasant company,” Dare replied with a smile at Dana feeling rather comfortable with both the company, the warmth of the library and the light conversation. The conversation had a light teasing undertone that he rather enjoyed as well. “Now, sweetheart, please do not ask that. I would hate to answer,” Dare looked at Dana for a moment, before sighing and in a fully acted sadness lowered his head, “My full name is Darien Raymond Fletcher. Yet only girls who only spend time in my company in order to pass time call me Ray. Only my ancient grandfather calls me Darien. So please, for all that is dear to you, do not insult me by calling me anything but Dare.
Bigger than life models? Dare felt a snort of laughter escape him at such a comment until he howled with laughter. Holding onto his stomach Dare snickered at the thought trying to regain control of himself. “And life suits you very well, sweetheart. Never give up on it.” Dragging a slip of paper out of his bag Dare noted down the mention about forest flowers big and clear not hiding form Dana what he was doing either. “I will remember that. And never again bring you flowers from a wheat-field. I’ll rather travel a couple extra miles and find a forest where I could prance through lush fields of green while picking you marvelous red and white and blue blooms.” Dare placed the strip of paper into his chest pocket and reached over the table to take Dana’s hand in his: “You are smart. Do you believe that the reading of one’s palmcan tell much about one’s personality? What would I see when I read your palm?” Dare asked while drawing down the life-line on Dana’s palm with a slight grin.

Dana giggled and patted Dare’s hand comfortingly: “As long as you remember that, pretty boy, as long as you remember that. I tend to keep my mind and my body rather well protected as I am rather fond of them both. And there is only thing to be said about my company right now, isn’t there?” Dana took hold of Dare’s hand with both of hers as she leaned closer over the table and lowered her voice to a whisper: “Does your mother know your out in the library with an older girl who has the potential power to ruin the innocent way of thinking of his little boy?” Dana snickered and leaned back in her chair eyeing Dare with some amusement. Fletcher. The name did ring a small bell in Dana’s mind. A respectable family. Purebloods. Father was in… traveling, wasn’t he? Now that Dana knew Dare’s background she could most certainly see from where Dare got his manners from. “Well I would hope I would win a comparison with your ‘ancient’ grandfather, Dare. And prance through lush fields? Why, only if I can come along. And wear a frilly pink dress with annoyingly many laces trailing long behind me that would get stuck on everything. It would like a scene from a cartoon. Or a disgustingly sweet teen-movie.” Dana laughed feeling rather amused by Dare’s question as he traced his life-line, “And you won’t see much more than a small wound from DETENTION! Cripes, I will be late for it and Filch will have my skin.” Dana jumped to her feet grabbing her bag and throwing it over her shoulder as she blew an air-kiss towards Dare as she was already rushing out of the library. “We’ll reschedule the study-session, I promise! I’ll owl you about it later on tonight!” ((*cowers* I know, I abandoned it. But I suppose we should finish it now that have Jazz in our clutches in the other post ))
