Janae was gathering her books at the end of her History of Magic class and getting prepared to go and find something that would occupy her for the afternoon. She was headed to her room to change into more comfortable clothes and to drop off her books. As of now she did not have anything planned for the rest of the day, so she was hoping to catch up with someone she knew.
As Janae was walking down the hall, she was a little absent minded because she was going over a conversation that she had with her mother the night before. Her mother had told her that her brother had broke his heels jumping off a dock. He was with some friends, and even though he aimed for the water, he missed.
As she turned the corner she was shocked by suddenly being face to face with someone who she had never met before.

Well, not exactly face to face, because Arabella had dropped her things all over the ground, and was tackling her cat to stop it from savaging Janae's ankles.
Now, Arabella would not normally be caught doing such an unladylike thing as throwing herself face down on the ground. But she could hardly let this girl, whom she had never even met, come to harm because of her own lack of forsight.
It was a magical cat. She had bought it at The Magical Menagerie. It shouldn't have a problem with being stuffed in her school case on the way to Transfiguration.
But apparently, it did. Arabella picked herself up, the cat held under one arm, and dusted herself off.
"Gerald!" she scolded it. "You are a very naughty boy! Look what you've done!"
She turned the cat back the way she'd come so it could see her books and bag all over the floor.
"Now, apologise to the nice girl," with this she held the cat up in Janae's direction.
"I'm sorry about him. You didn't get hurt did you?" Arabella glanced at the many scratches, both new and old, up her own forearms.

Janae was still collecting herself when she noticed that she was a little scratched up. The cat sure was a crazy one. There was something strange about it, but she was not sure what it was. She only had a few scratches, and knew that it was not the girls fault. "No, I'm not really all that hurt, things like this happen." She notices that the girl has her books all over the floor and people are just walking all over and around them throughout the hall.
"Here, I will help you pick up your books." Janae starts to grab the books, which are actually a combination of her own and this new girls. She had never really seen this girl around before, and figured that there was always a chance to make a new friend, especially if you just randomly run to someone and cause chaos in the hallway.
She was spacing out thinking through her day to see if she had anywhere to be, or anything to do and realized that she honestly had a blank schedule for the day.
She picks up the last text book and turns toward the girl, "Hi, my name is Janae. It was really random to run into you this way, but I suppose you should make the most of these situations. What is your name, and the name of that oh so wonderful cat of yours?" She thinks that it might be an interesting afternoon after all.
