Padma woke up early in the morning before anyone else in the dormitory. She'd received an owl late last night from her parents informing her that she was coming home first thing this morning. Usually this sort of thing would be welcomed, going home a day or two before the rest of the students did for winter vacation, but not this time. This time it was going home for good. Parvati had been kidnapped and there'd be no signs of finding her yet.
Padma had no doubt that it was some sort of new plot against Harry, it was no secret that the Death Eaters were going after his friends. Last year it was Ginny, and Julie, and this year Parvati had been around Harry more often as they and other members of the D.A. were planning. Padma's D.A. coin had gone off several times so far this year, but she didn't show up at the meetings. She had lost the desire to go and fight after seeing Julie taken last year. Now though as she tossed her items into her trunk she began to feel the fury rising in her once more as she locked her trunk and levitated it after her as she made her way down to the main entrance.
The great clock in the hallway read 7:48 when Padma arrived at the entrance and sat down on a cool bench next to the Great Hall. Her parents were set to apparate to Hogsmeade at 8am then walk up the path to the school and get her. As the clock slowly tick Padma watched a few early rising younger students enter the Great Hall on their way to breakfast, something Padma would never again be able to do here. A wave of despair ran over her as the clock now showed 7:50. In silence, she watched the younger students and waited.

Luna braided wooden pearls into her hair and added a pair of butterbeer bottle cork earrings and a necklace made form the same material. She didn’t try to argue with the other girls in the dormitory for the mirror so Luna didn’t know what her hair looked like in the end. All she knew was that she had managed to braid the beads into her hair and that was enough. The colourful beads were pretty and that was all that mattered. Jumping up from where she had been sitting with crossed legs on her bed Luna skipped out of the dormitory without a word. With a dreamy smile on her face Luna left the common room as well as she skipped down the empty hallways leading from the Ravenclaw common room to the Great Hall for breakfast.
Luna’s shoes were flashing red every time her feet touched the ground. She had seen some children wearing such kind of shoes in the summer when she and daddy had danced with hippo people. It was so cheery. And it attracted Terpies. So Luna had charmed her own shoes to flash colour as well. Muggle children had called such flashing glances from their shoes cat’s eyes. But really the lights couldn’t see! How could they be eyes? But the only thing that did matter was that the flashing lights looked pretty.
Luna hopped onto the floor before the Great Hall with her smile still dreamy as she noticed Padma. She was looking sad. Most likely missing her sister who had been so rudely kidnapped from the Great Hall itself. Blinking once at Padma Luna hopped closer before she stood in front of Padma. Luna smiled faintly at the flashing lights from her shoes as she hopped with her feet together once. “Daddy says that Quigglesnap hair can spontaneously combust if have an ash wand that you haven’t washed in lemon juice. Does your wand have Quigglesnap core?” Luna asked Padma with a small smile.

Lavender sat in a ball in the room of requirement. She had witnessed her best friend transport through a port key and disappear, maybe forever. Lavender's tear stained cheeks puffed out in a silent sob. "Parvati," Lavender whispered to herself, "where are you?" Lavender felt the wave of tears come again and she put her face back on her knees. What if she never saw Parvati again? If only she had hung out with her more. It had been such a busy year and now Lavender was regretting her one decision of not being with Parvati more. She pushed the tears back down her throat and quickly wiped her face. She was going to help find Parvati. She was going to find someway of finding her. There had to be something she could do. She hadn't slept since it happened and she hadn't been doing well in class either. Lavender stood and looked around the room. She had been sitting in the room the D.A. had practiced in. The many times Parvati and her had learned some of the best defense against the dark arts and Voldemort.
Lavender looked over at the clock that hung in the room and was surprised to see that it was nearly 8 in the morning. She realized that Padma would be leaving anytime. She had to say goodbye to Padma. It was only right that she say goodbye to her best friends sister and her own friend. She quickly tried to wipe away any remnants of tears and smoothed out her Hogwart's robes. She looked around the room and knew that she may never attend another meeting with Parvati. Parvati might be lost forever. The thought sent chills down Lavender's back. She wished she had grabbed onto Parvati before the port key had taken her. At least then she would be with her and she wouldn't be alone with those Death Eaters. Lavender shook her head and pushed the thoughts from her mind.
Lavender turned from the room and headed out of the door and toward the Great Hall. She didn't know if she would see Padma again, but she hoped they could still be friends. She didn't know if anyone blamed her for Parvati leaving. Lavender blamed herself for it, but it was because she had seen Parvati reach up to touch the ball and she had done nothing. Lavender shook her head at her own guilt as she headed down the stairs. She passed by other students without really seeing them. It was almost like she was in a nightmare which she couldn't get out of. It just kept on going and going without any sort of stop. She reached the bottom of the stairs and stopped. She didn't know how long it had taken her to get down the stairs, but it seemed like eternity to her.
Lavender looked up and saw Padma standing with her trunk near the door. Luna was talking to Padma and Lavender knew it had to be about something strange. That's how Luna was, it was comforting to know that she hadn't changed, but at the same time Lavender wanted everyone to be different than they were, for everything in the world to be different so she didn't have to deal with Parvati's disappearance. Lavender took a deep breath as she approached Padma. She fought back the tears that were ready to spill. "Padma..." was all she could say before the silent tears fell. She didn't care if she was crying in front of the whole school anymore. The only thing that mattered was for her to talk to Padma.
