" I do so hope you will be more careful next time," Cass said to the first year Gryffindor as she helped her collect her books off the floor. She looked up through her black curly hair to make sure the older Slytherins were walking away from the girl. The younger student had been lucky that Cass had shown up. Three older Slytherins had cornered the girl on the second floor landing in front of a giant portrait with giraffes eating bananas. Cass had interceded on behalf on the girl, and luck for the both of them, they had dispersed without much confrontation. Although, she had heard the girl mumble something about Cass' day coming.
Making sure the coast was clear, Cass herded the girl off towards the transfiguration classroom. Looking at her watch, she frowned at the late hour. She had already missed ten minutes of potions, and even she wasn't brave and/or stupid enough to walk into Snape's classroom late. Deciding to skip, she took off down the hallway towards the kitchens, hoping to catch an early lunch. That way, she could spend her lunch hour doing more productive things.
Turning down the hallway with the portrait of the giant pear, she tried to remember the first time she had been to the kitchens. She was pretty sure that it was Dana Coran who had taken her down there in the beginning of her third year. Hearing footsteps coming from the other direction, she felt her heart jump into her throat. Cass quickly hid in a darkened corner of a hallway that turned off the main one. Damn teachers. Don't they have a class to teach or something? thought Cass angrily to herself. She couldn't afford to lose any points or get detention with the next Quidditch game coming up. Gryffindor's standings had been weak all school year. Gulping, she wished that her heart would quit pounding madly against her chest.

Brook had woken up happy for the first time in days. She had usually woken cold, but today she had awoken warm, which put her in a good mood. She got up and did her usual morning routine: shower, make-up, cllothes, and then leave to class. Since she had been in a good mood she applied the only bright eye liner she had seen, white. After applying it she put on some black mascara. Thinking it looked cool she went to find her some clothes. She had ended up wearing a pair of faded jeans, a white T-shirt, and some light/dark blue etnies. Since today was the only day she didn't have class, mainly because she had gone ahead and finished everything she had to do for that day because she had been really bored with nothing to do. She headed out of the room, through the common room, and down the corridirs.
Walking through she saw that she had already missed breakfast, and it was still a bit until lunch she headed toward the kitchen. She was about a half minute until she reached the pear when she heard footsteps. Seeing as they might be teachers who thought she might actually be skipping class she hid in the shadows. She peeked around the corners and saw it was just a Gryffindor fourth year, sighing she came out of the shadows and said "You aren't going to class either?" not wanting to sound like a snob she decided not to mention that she didn't have to go to class anywas.
"Hi!" she said, "My name is Brook, Brook Watts." Looking at the girl she was pretty sure she recognized her but wasn't positive. Looking down she walked toward the kitchens "Come on," she said "I know you were here for a reason." and started to walk toward the kitchens and stopped to see if the Gryffindor was coming.

Cass looked at the girl and followed wordlessly. A Ravenclaw? Out of class?! Reaching up, she tickled the pear portrait. Laughter filled the hallway as the door swung open. The familiar scent of cooking food wafted out, and Cass greedily followed it inside. Several house elves greeted the duo with smiles and deep bows. " Um, can I get some O.J. and a B.L.T., please." One of the house elves scurried off, eager to fill the order.
Cass flopped into an empty, blue arm chair near a roaring fire. By the looks of the chair, someone had drug the worn piece of furniture in from the Ravenclaw common room. The house crest was barely visible on the back. " I can't say that I'm not surprised to see someone from your house skipping class. A fellow Gryff, yes. A Huffle or a Snake, maybe. Never a Raven." She propped her heels up on a low table that was nearby, making sure to cross her legs. " I'm pretty sure we haven't met. I'm Cass. Cass Blackfire, Gryffindor Fourth Year Extraordinaire."
Smiling happily, the house elf delivered the girl's food. " Aren't these house elves wonderful? They will almost do anything for you." Cass bit into the sandwich. " You know, I can't wait till Quidditch starts. It seems like forever since I picked up a beater's bat. I personally don't think Slytherin stands a chance against us. Harry wouldn't be able to live with himself if he lost his last match to them." Cass drank some O.J. as she continued to pontificate about her Quidditch dreams. " Of course, next year will be a different story. I think I'm going to try for seeker next year, and I hope to get Quidditch captain." Cass' eyes drifted to the ceiling. She saw herself riding her new Firebolt, desperately searching for the Snitch. Her hair flapped around her head as people chanted her name from the stands. Smiling, she said, " Probably won't happen, but it's nice to dream."

Brook listened to the girl talking about Quidditch wondering how she could stand playing it. " Well," she said "I never really like d to play quidditch that much! I just like riding my friebolt when I can." Before the Qudditch talk came she had talked about a Ravenclaw skipping class. Brook had decided not to answer so that tachnicaly she wouldn't be lying, she just wouldn't be telling the truth either. Seeing the elf come back with Cassandra's food made Brook's mouth water. BEfore the elf could scurry off again she said "Could you gat me some O.J., and a Burger with just meat and cheese?" after saying yes the elf went to get her food.
"Um...yah, I guess the elfs are pretty cool! But I think that they are takin advantaged of sometimes!" Wishing she had grabbed a coat Brook scooted closer to the fire and tried to warm her self up some more. Starting in on her orange juice Brook said "So, what class are you skipping?" leaving Cassandra to answer her question Brook asked the elf to bring her some water because shehad already finishe d her juice. Regretting what she had said about taking advantage of elfs she bit her lip, hoping Cassandra didn't say any thing.
