Kennedy slammed another book shut and put it back on the counter. He had been looking for a specific book the past hour, and he had been unsuccessful. His father was doing a special study on gribbocks, a poisonous fairy-like creature, and he had asked Kennedy to help research them. After much frustration, Kennedy gave up and threw his bag over his shoulder.
He rushed to the end of the aisle and was about to turn the corner when he ran into a small girl. "Watch it," he snapped, and he readjusted his bag while continuing to leave the library. He would have kept on walking, but he thought he heard the girl responded. Annoyed, he turned to see if she was going to give him any attitude, because in all of his frustration, he was more than ready to let somebody have it.

Danielle headed toward the library. She had to catch up on her homework. Hopefully she could get it done soon so she could rest. She'd been up all day studying and looked forward to when the day was over so she could sleep! She'd dressed for comfort that day. Tennis-shoes, jeans and a sweater. Very casual.she thought to herself. Finally don't have to wear those uniforms. They are so ugly! How can people wear them? Shaking her head she walked in the library, heading to the back. She took her bag off her shoulder and looked inside. She was trying to find her book. With her head bent down she didn't see someone headed toward her.
Wham! Danielle fell down. Luckily her things didn't spill out. 'Watch it.' he said. Did he actually have the nerve to knock someone down and tell them to 'watch it'? She grabbed her bag and stood up. He had already started to walk away.Oh no you don't. Danielle thought glaring at the boy. She cleared her throat. "Um excuse me? You are the one who ran into me. Not the other way around. So before you go and tell somebody to watch it, you should do the same. Unless of course you're blind but I seriously doubt that."

She did not just blame me for that, Kennedy thought as a vein on his forehead began to emerge. When he became irritated, this was the first signal of his anger. Noticing that the girl was rather young, Kennedy took a moment to debate whether a fight was worth it or not. Deciding that somebody needed to put her in her place, he let her have it. "Lucky for you, I'm not blind because when I put a spell on those little eyes of yours to be more observant, I may be careful enough not to make your dreaded face any uglier."
Realizing he was getting a little loud, Kennedy backed down a bit as not to draw any attention. He just wanted to scare the girl a little, not make a scene. Moving a little closer to the girl, Kennedy added, "Little kids aren't supposed to come to the library without their mommy, so you better go find yours." With that, Kennedy turned and began to leave the library a little less frustrated than when he first started. He smiled to himself. Often he his rude demeanor was just for show as in this case. Kennedy usually never intended anything with his words, but this was something he kept to himself. He liked the idea of being powerful simply by using words.

Danielle listened to his reply. While he talked she rummaged through her bag. Not caring what he said. She did catch a few things though. My dreaded face any uglier? O.k. maybe he hasn't looked in a mirror after a while. Because his face isn't a pretty sight either. What else did he say? Without my mommy? I am not in pre-school! Danielle stopped looking in her bag long enough to speak. "O.k. first off have you looked in a mirror lately? Because you face isn't a pretty sight either. Secondly, I'm not a little kid. Even if I were I'd still be here." But then he started to leave again. Danielle rolled her eyes as she walked quickly to try and keep up with him. She knew that'd he would get angry but she didn't mind. "So...," she started slightly out of breath, "I don't think I properly introduced myself. Danielle Pewter. Gryffindor first year. What year are you? I can tell your a Slythie aren't you? I could kind of tell. I mean you didn't exactly hide it, with the ugly face comment now did you?"

Kennedy kept walking as the girl responded. Her ranting response went in one ear and out the other as he tried his best to ignore her. Proud of his momentary rudeness, he was just about to the exit of the library when he realized she was following him. Surprised at her persistence, he turned just as she introduced herself and informed him that she was a Gryffindor first year. Kennedy figured that made sense as she was brave enough to come back for more when most other young students would just ignore the issue because of fear.
No longer in the mood to fight, but also not wanting to make conversation either, Kennedy simply gave a cold answer to her question. "I most certainly am in Slytherin, and I am a fourth year. My name is Kennedy, but don't think that I like you because I'm telling you all of this." Kennedy tapped his foot in a hasty manner as he made a closer observation of the girl. She didn't look one bit afraid and surprisingly even less upset that he would have hoped. He then added, "So Danielle, if you would be kind enough to just leave me alone here, I think our little encounter is over. You ran into me and since you are okay I'm not wasting my breath apologizing for your lack of attentiveness." Kennedy had a feeling that Danielle was not the type however that would simply leave it at that and listen to his request to leave him alone.

"Well duh! Of course you don't like me. And I don't like you either, you are way to old." Danielle shook her head and stared up at him. "You're tall." she commented,"But I'm afraid that I'm not ready to leave yet. And my lack of attentiveness? I'm extremely attentive. Wait... what does attentive mean?" She started thinking again. Attentive, what does that mean? Paying attention? No not that. Well it means something. Danielle took a step backward so she'd have some room. Reaching in her bag she pulled out some gum. "Want some?" she asked holding a piece in her hand. "It's really good."

A small chuckle escaped Kennedy's lips. "When I said that it meant I didn't like you, I was not inferring a relationship kind of like. I simply meant that I didn't like you period. And if you don't like me either, then why would you offer me gum?" he responded rather arrogantly. As much as he hated to admit it, the girl had a spunk that humored him somewhat. However, he still maintained his hard edge. Kennedy knew that he couldn't let himself slip and have his 'emotions' get the best of him. A small girl was not worth befriending if it meant ruining his reputation. Plus, he felt deep down that he needed only himself and nobody else to be perfectly happy.
"I have my own gum," he lied. "Anyways, I don't trust you. For all I know, if I put that bloody piece of gum in my mouth, I may be puking blubberworms for a week." Kennedy remained still, contemplating whether or not just walking off and leaving the girl. In a way, he wanted to stay and see what bizarre event may occur, but his head told him to leave and forget he ever met her. Conflicted, he waited to hear the girl's response as he decided that it would help him to determine whether staying was worth the time and effort.

"I asked if you wanted gum because I have manners. How could gum be bloody. Oh yeah I just cut off pinky and wrapped it in this gum. That's why it's bloody.Besides I don't even know what blubberworm are. They're probably worms with walrus blubber on them." She laughed at the thought. Deciding that if he'd wanted the gum he would've taken it by then. So she stuffed it in her front pocket. She unwrapped the other and stuck it in her mouth. Gum is good. Danielle thought as she chewed, Chew, chew, chew, blow, blow. Then you've got a bubble! Basically, may not be good though. " 'I've got my own gum' what a load of bull. I seriously doubt it. Do you have your wand with you? I do keep with me everywhere I go. See." She pulled her wand from her left pocket (the one without trash in it). Holding it up for him to see she asked another question. "Do you know any good spells? I barely use it. But it's so pretty don't you think?"

Kennedy rolled his eyes. Wow, he thought to himself, this girl goes on and on. A bit irritated, Kennedy stayed and listened as Danielle blabbed endlessly about gum being bloody and her wand. By this point Kennedy was really regretting staying, for he didn't think Danielle would do or say anything that was actually worth his time.
When she finally finished talking, Kennedy pulled out his wand and flashed it in front of Danielle. "Lovely," he said in a melodramatic voice. "You want to see a spell I know," he said with a grin, imagining the many things he could do to Danielle. But then he came back to reality and realized he would get in trouble and at worst expelled if he was caught doing any type of spell to Danielle. "Look," Kennedy added, "either you prove to me that it's worth my time talking to you, or I'm out of here. I have more important things to do if all we are doing is looking at each others' wands and talking about gum," he said in an aggravated voice.

"Fine then!" Danielle snapped holding her wand by her side. "Worth your time? Well I guess I'm not. See I don't think I have the same interests as you. Such as picking on people and insulting them on their blood. I think it's stupid actually. Judging people on their blood." She stopped to catch her breath. "I bet that you'd be sick if you knew that you just had an entire conversation with a muggle born wouldn't it? Or would you just insult me to try and get me to cry? Either way you should know that I don't care. I've been called 'mudblood' before. Wonder who thought of that name in the first place. Or what house were they in?" She stopped and thought for a moment. "Hmmm... have any ideas?" she asked smiling sweetly at him. (Wow! That one stunk. )

Kennedy began to laugh loudly in a sarcastic manner. "You really are... a lot more... immature than I thought," he said in between bursts of laughter. "First, I never even made mention of blood, and second, I've stood here a good five minutes and gave you a chance to prove that you are not as dimwitted or dull as I would have properly assessed when I first ran into you." Kennedy thought to himself as he was in disbelief that he allowed himself to even think that conversing with the young girl would prove to be worth his time or effort. "Maybe, had I hit you a little harder in the library, I would have knocked some maturity or charm into your personality," Kennedy ridiculed. Kennedy stuffed his wand back in his pocket and shook his head while taking one last look at the girl. With that, he turned again and made another attempt to leave her and end the senseless consumption of his time. ((OOC: I will keep posting if you want, but if you chose to follow Kennedy, at least try to make it interesting. These small verbal spars are getting kind of senseless if you know what I mean. ))

" I'm immature? Look who's talking. Mr.Oh-my-gosh-someone's-trying to-poison-me-even-though-they-wouldn't-know-how-to!" Danielle paused to catch her breath. But before she could start yelling again he walked off. She growled angrily and glared after him. Not noticing she was doing it she readjusted her bag. Pulling out her wand just in case she walked behind him slowly, as quietly as she could. It had not been even a minute when she was bored. So she ran in front of him so he'd stop walking. "If you didn't notice I did not finish speaking! For your information I have plenty of charm in my personality. I just don't show it to stupid, mean, hateful, power hungry, Slytherins like you!! So if you have any more comments about me say them now or forever hold your peace." She paused to let him talk. "Oh well. You had your chance." She put her wand away and smiled sweetly. Then out of no where stamped on his foot. "See you later Mr. Kennedy!" She said. With that she turned and ran away. (Sorry it took so long. School more school and laziness is to blame. Anyway if she sounded too mean or something tell me and I'll modify.

His face red from anger, Kennedy couldn't believe that the little brat had stomped on his foot and then run off. Turning quickly, he whipped his wand from his pocket and shouted, "Petrificus..." but then stopped, not finishing the spell. He knew that had he cast the immobility spell on Danielle, he would be severely punished. Gritting his teeth, Kennedy started after the girl, without really having a definite plan.
He ran after her, all the while thinking of what he could do to her. He wasn't just going to let her get away and go tell all of her silly little friends. At the same time, he couldn't do what he really wanted to do to her anyways. Spotting Danielle just ahead as he rounded a corner, Kennedy stopped and had the perfect idea. Danielle seemed to be heading for the only door at the end of the hallway. Retrieving his wand again, Kennedy aimed at the door. "Colloportus!" he yelled. A flash of light spread around the frame of the door, appearing to have successfully sealed the door shut.
Once the spell was cast, Kennedy ran forward, hoping to catch Danielle trapped at the end of the hallway where the door was her only means of escape. As far as his plans were concerned once he caught her, Kennedy was still unsure. Regardless, he sprinted after her, swearing at her angrily under his breath.

Danielle continued to run from Kennedy, smiling in glee. Glancing back she saw that his face was was a bright red. Laughing loudly she kept running. Turning a corner she saw a door at the end of the hall. Just when she was almost to it he cast a spell. Danielle didn't know what it did but it couldn't be good for her. She stopped running and slid until she was still. Coming very close to hitting a wall. Breathing heavily she turned to face the way in which Kennedy was coming.
As he came closer Danielle realized that she was trapped. If she looked close enough she could see that his face was still red and he looked angry too. She gulped and tried to look brave. After all, Gryffindors are supposed to be brave, right? Inside though she was shaking with fear. Great job, Danielle. She thought sarcastically to herself. You just had to stomp on his foot right? Now you're going to be killed by a stinking Slytherin! How could you sink so low as to get killed by one of them? Too late to run now you'll just have to deal with what you did.
Shaking her head Danielle tried to stand up straight. With a little difficulty she managed a small smile too. Pulling out her wand she held it tightly. Waiting for him to fire a spell or something at her. If he did, she wouldn't have a chance. Danielle didn't know many spells, or if he just tried to fist fight (though she highly doubted that) she wasn't very good. So either way she'd have a couple bruises the next day.

Watching Danielle turn and realize she was trapped sent a shiver of victory down Kennedy's back. The redness in his face died down, and he replaced his look of anger with a smug grin. She may have thought she had won, but Kennedy knew he would get the last laugh. Slowing to a walk, he was once again within arms reach of Danielle.
"So you thought you would get away with it?" he asked arrogantly, "well now, that didn't work, did it?" he said, shaking his head. Pondering his next move, Kennedy knew he was walking on thin ice. He had to teach Danielle a lesson, but at the same time avoid doing anything that would result in a loss of points for Slytherin, or worse yet, a personal punishment such as detention or suspension. Pacing back and forth between Danielle and the hallway behind him, Kennedy was sure to block her only way of escape.
"So now what am I to do to you?" he questioned, knowing full well she wasn't about to give him any advice, and even if she did, he wasn't about to take it. "This could have all ended happily had you simply not followed me. But you were too stubborn, and you couldn't let me get away without doing something terribly stupid now could you?" By this time, Kennedy was really struggling to think of something to do. He couldn't keep talking much longer, or somebody else was bound to show up, and then the Little brat would surely escape unpunished.
Turning to face Danielle, Kennedy had a sudden burst of insight. "I guess it comes to this," he said, rummaging through his pocket. Finding a spare knut, Kennedy pulled it out and examined it. This should do, he thought to himself. What he was actually about to do was all made up as he went on. Taking his wand, he touched the tip of it to the knut and muttered an incantation that he pulled out of nowhere, "Alamorrazo." Then, he stormed over to Danielle and forced the knut into her bag. "Unfortunately for you," he said sternly, "I just placed a jinx on that knut which will cause you much trouble," he lied. Danielle hadn't seemed to know much along the lines of magic since she was a younger student, so Kennedy figured she would believe whatever he said. "It's called the proximity curse," he continued. "If you touch the knut, it will surely cause a permanent burn to take over the skin of where it touched, so I highly recommend you be careful not to touch it. How it works," he explained, "is that after one week, it causes the person you have spent the most time with to become terribly ill. They will be overcome with sickness that even Madam Pompfrey will have trouble curing. So I also recommend that you don't stay too close to any of your good friends," he went on.
So far, Kennedy was pleased with his fabricated curse. It even would have worried him a bit had it been real. Of course he would have simply found someone like Danielle to follow around for a week, ensuring that he avoided making any of his friends or family sick. "So go on now," he scolded. Leave my sight, but be careful who you hang around. You wouldn't want to go making anybody sick now would you?" he said with a sickening laugh.

Danielle took a deep breath and breathed slowly, trying to calm herself down. He stood in front of her so she couldn't run. By now his face wasn't as red though, and he didn't look angry. Instead he looked worse, smug! Of course he would be so happy that he'd scared a first year! Come on! Danielle thought, mentally rolling her eyes. Any one who is cornered by an evil Slytherin has a right to be scared. Right? Of course I'm right. Especially with no protection. Oh well, I'll just be nice now. Boost his self esteem. Since Plan A (Run as fast as possible away from him.) hadn't work. Time for Plan B (Act scared so he feels good about himself.)! Hope this works.
Danielle bit her tongue as hard as she could until her eyes began to tear up. She listened silently as he began to talk about boring things. Deciding to make it better she thought of something sad. Sad, sad, sad, sad. Got it! It was her saddest memories ever. When her cat, Kitty died. Danielle focused really hard and stated to cry. Just a little at first then more tears kept coming. "I guess it comes to this." She heard him say. "Comes to what?" Danielle asked him. He didn't answer instead he took out a Knut and jinxed it. Then stuffed it in her bag saying something along the lines of. "A permanent burn..." Or something like that. Danielle didn't care either way. But then he said something else to which she actually listened.
Danielle then began to really cry. Not like her other fake tears. What if it did make her friends sick? It would be all her fault. Then if they got better they wouldn't even be her friends anymore! Glaring up at him she wiped her tears. "I will gladly leave. Don't even know why I bothered with you. Obviously you are just a little kid. With an over sized ego! Good bye and have a horrible day!" She called pushing past him. Just as she was turning the corner she forgot something. "Oh if you didn't already know. You aren't very intimidating. Sorry!" She informed him. She giggled silently then left, heading toward the Great Hall.
(So...That was fun! I know she has great acting skillz right? ;D Anyway is this over? I don't really care it's up to you.)

Watching as Danielle began crying, Kennedy simply rolled his eyes. He knew he had sunk down a few maturity levels, but he wasn't going to let the younger girl have the last laugh. Regardless of if she believed his story about the jinxed knut, at least she seemed apt to leave him alone now. After ending her tears, Danielle was sure to get a few last words in before she left. Kennedy forced himself to ignore them this time, knowing that this would be an endless battle if he tried to say something back. Letting a heavy sigh escape from his mouth, he turned and headed in the opposite direction as Danielle. Sure he would eventually run into her again, he smiled, just imagining the possibilities- even if they all were against the rules, it wouldn't hurt to imagine. ((OOC: yes it was very fun... thanks for a good post, and maybe we will meet again *grins evilly* it's probably best to end it here as I don't see it producing anything worthwhile if we continue))
